Abstract The popular organophosphorus (OP) compound chlorpyrifos (CP) has recently gained significant attention due to its health risks, particularly among farmers exposed to OP pesticides. This study aimed to evaluate the acute toxicity of Cuscuta reflexa seed extract (CRSE) and its efficacy of mitigating the adverse effects of CP in albino male mice. For acute toxicity analysis, the first group was served as the control group, while the second group was received CRSE (200 mg/kg/bw) on the first day of the 14-day experiment. For hepatotoxicity analysis, the first group was the control group, the second group (vehicle control) received corn oil (CO) (2 mL/kg/bw), the third group was given CP (20 mg/kg/bw) dissolved in corn oil and the fourth group was given CP (20 mg/kg/bw) along-with CRSE (200 mg/kg/bw) orally via gavage once daily for 21 days. The acute toxicity examination revealed no statistically significant differences between the CRSE-treated and control groups in serum biochemical indicators and histopathological analyses of various organs, suggesting that CRSE as safe at a dosage of 200 mg/kg/bw, with an oral LD50 in mice higher than 200 mg/kg. The hepatotoxicity study demonstrated that the CP administration resulted in liver damage and oxidative stress, while CRSE acted as an antioxidant and attenuated the signs of oxidative stress in liver damage. Hence, a promising therapeutic approach for lowering CP hepatotoxicity is co-treatment with CRSE.

Abstract Green processes for synthesizing nanocomposites are a hot area of research today as traditional processes are expensive, inefficient, harmful for synthesizing organic and inorganic molecules, and unsuitable for large-scale operations. The present study investigates the capacity of green synthesized Calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO NPs) for efficiently removing Rhodamine B. Chemical reduction was replaced with Mulberry (Morus nigera) leaf extract as an environmentally friendly reaction mechanism. CaO NPs are characterized by various analytical techniques including EDX, BET, SEM, FTIR, TGA, Zeta Potential, Point of Zero Charge (PZC), and XRD. Maximum adsorption of Rhodamine B by CaO NPs is revealed at an initial concentration of Rhodamine B of 80 ppm, a temperature of 343 K, and contact time of 60 min, 0.4 g of adsorbent at a pH value of 7. Maximum removal of Rhodamine B by CaO NPs was found to be 98.2% which is promising with this small amount of adsorbent (0.4 g). Diverse Kinetic and adsorption isotherms are employed in this study to determine the requirement and significance of the adsorption process. Various adsorption isotherms such as Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R), and Langmuir models have been employed. Among the kinetic adsorption isotherms Elovich, Intraparticle kinetic model, pseudo 1st order, and pseudo 2nd order models were applied. The current study investigates the thorough understanding of the Rhodamine B adsorption process including the mechanism of adsorption using condition optimization, characterization, and model applications. The proposed adsorbent can be employed for the green removal of Rhodamine B from wastewater of industry with maximum efficiency and favorable regeneration properties.

This research reported the utilization of novel adsorbent from the de-oiled waste material of orange seeds for preparing simple charcoal (SC) and iron oxide/activated charcoal (Fe2O3/AC) nanocomposites. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the optimized conditions of the experiment. The results obtained indicated that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model best fitted the adsorption data (R2 > 0.99) and that the Freundlich isotherm model best explained the adsorption of dye on Fe2O3/AC. The adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic in the temperature range of 293–333°K, as explained by calculated thermodynamic parameters, e.g., ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS°. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy results publicized that carboxyl and amine functional groups are present on the surface of adsorbents, which are responsible for the attachment of dye. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results showed that Fe2O3/AC has a porous surface and textual structure, which can efficiently adsorb dye molecules. A zetasizer was utilized for determining the size of the composites, and the thermal stability was determined by performing a thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The findings of the comparative experiment indicated that Fe2O3/AC are more promising than raw activated carbon for the adsorption of Congo red (CR). The impregnation of iron oxide nanocomposites on an adsorbent resulted in an increased surface area-to-volume ratio, magnetic properties, and excellent reusable capacity. Overall, it can be reported as an innovative procedure promoting the recycling of waste products, which aids in protecting environmental and human health and in the development of the economy.

Ensuring sustained thermal propagation is a crucial role in many industrial and thermal systems since it facilitates the improvement of the efficiency of thermal engineering engines and machinery. Therefore, the usage of magnetized nanoparticles in a heat-carrying non-Newtonian fluid is a promising development for the enhancement of thermal power energy. This paper uniquely contributes by comprehensively analyzing heat and mass transfer characteristics in a Casson nanofluid subjected to bioconvection over a disk. The study also explores in detail the interaction of gyrotactic microorganisms, and activation energy in the system. Similarity transformations have been used to make the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) dimensionless, which has then transformed them into ordinary differential equations. The solution method has utilized the Shooting technique combined with the Bvp4c solver in MATLAB. Graphs have been drawn to explain the different parameters of the flow; also, other engineering quantities, like motile microbes density and Sherwood numbers, have been calculated and are represented graphically. Furthermore, the interplay of mixed convection, buoyancy ratio, bioconvection Rayleigh constant, and resistivity due to magnetization significantly influences the distribution of velocity in the Casson nanofluid. Remarkably, parameters that characterize the motile microorganism profile significantly attenuate said profile; therefore, they play a very important role in shaping the system dynamics. The application of bioconvection phenomena spans diverse fields, ranging from healthcare and environmental monitoring to agriculture and renewable energy, offering innovative solutions to address complex challenges.

AbstractParoxetine is not suitable for oral administration due to its extensive first-pass metabolism, thus resulting in less bioavailability. This study aimed to prepare novel paroxetine-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) based sustained-release transdermal patches to overcome these problems by enhancing drug absorption and bioavailability. Nine formulations of paroxetine SLNs were prepared by the hot melt-homogenization method using different concentrations of glycerol monostearate (Kolliwax) and Tween 80. Then these prepared SLNs were incorporated in a matrix type transdermal patch having a matrix of ethyl cellulose and polyvinyl pyrrolidone in 3:2 with polyvinyl alcohol. The SLNs showed a particle size range of 113–230 nm and an entrapment efficiency of 85.14%. The SLNs showed sustained paroxetine release (77.86–95.63% release) up to 48 h. FTIR studies showed no interaction between drug and formulation components. Paroxetine is evenly distributed in an amorphous form in SLNs, as demonstrated by DSC as well as PXRD analysis. SLNs formulated patches showed higher drug permeation through the skin than drug-based transdermal patches., Draize patch test revealed no sign of erythema after applying paroxetine-loaded SLN patches (score 0) as observed with the marketed product. The developed SLNs based transdermal patches showed increased permeability and sustained release behaviour.

Background: Despite extensive research over the decades, cancer therapy is still a great challenge because of the non-specific delivery of chemotherapeutic agents, which could be overcome by limiting the distribution of chemotherapeutic agents toward cancer cells. Objective: To reduce the cytolytic effects against cancer cells, graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles (NPs) can load anticancer medicines and genetic tools. Methodology: During the current study, folic-acid-conjugated graphene oxide (Fa-GO) hybrid mucoadhesive chitosan (CS)-based hydrogel beads were fabricated through an “ion-gelation process”, which allows for regulated medication release at malignant pH. Results: The fabricated chitosan–alginate (SA-CS) hydrogel beads were examined using surface morphology, optical microscopy, XRD, FTIR, and homogeneity analysis techniques. The size analysis indicated that the size of the Fa-GO was up to 554.2 ± 95.14 nm, whereas the beads were of a micrometer size. The folic acid conjugation was confirmed by NMR. The results showed that the craggy edges of the graphene oxide were successfully encapsulated in a polymeric matrix. The mucoadhesive properties were enhanced with the increase in the CS concentration. The nanohybrid SA-CS beads exhibited good swelling properties, and the drug release was 68.29% at pH 5.6 during a 24 h investigation. The accelerated stability study, according to ICH guidelines, indicated that the hydrogel beads have a shelf-life of more than two years. Conclusions: Based on the achieved results, it can be concluded that this novel gastro-retentive delivery system may be a viable and different way to improve the stomach retention of anticancer agents and enhance their therapeutic effectiveness.

Piperazine is two nitrogen containing heterocyclic compound. The fundamental activity of the piperazine is due to the 1,4-position of nitrogen atoms and their substitutions. The SN1 reaction is followed by the others alkylation and substitution reactions. Substituted piperazine derivatives hold an important position for the development of crucial drugs. They exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities e.g. antitubercular, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiviral, antidiabetic and antimalarial. Immense numbers of biological activities displayed by disubstituted piperazine derivatives are due to the presence of two nitrogen atoms in the ring. Keeping in mind their biological activity profile, a series of novel 1,4-substituted piperazine synthesized derivatives were collected. All the prepared derivatives are expected to show different biological activities particularly enzyme inhibition activities against α-Amylase.

Abstract Prunus armeniaca gum is used as food additive and ethno medicinal purpose. Two empirical models response surface methodology and artificial neural network were used to search for optimized extraction parameters for gum extraction. A four-factor design was implemented for optimization of extraction process for maximum yield which was obtained under the optimized extraction parameter (temperature, pH, extraction time, and gum/water ratio). Micro and macro-elemental composition of gum was determined by using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. Gum was evaluated for toxicological effect and pharmacological properties. The maximum predicted yield obtained by response surface methodology and artificial neural network was 30.44 and 30.70% which was very close to maximum experimental yield 30.23%. Laser induced breakdown spectroscopic spectra confirmed the presence Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Sodium, Lithium, Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen. Acute oral toxicity study showed that gum is non-toxic up to 2000 mg/Kg body weight in rabbits, accompanied by high cytotoxic effects of gum against HepG2 and MCF-7cells by MTT assay. Overall, Aqueous solution of gum showed various pharmacological activities with significant value of antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-nociceptive, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and thrombolytic activities. Thus, optimization of parameters using mathematical models cans offer better prediction and estimations with enhanced pharmacological properties of extracted components.

Abstract Pharmaceuticals, biological polymer synthesis, eco-friendly uses, sustainable fuel cell innovations, microbial-enhanced extraction of petroleum, biological sensors, biological technology, and continual mathematical modeling refinement are all examples of how bioconvection is applied. This study examines the bio convectional viscoelastic-micropolar nano liquid flow with non-uniform heat sink/source, motile microorganisms that move across a stretched sheet. Thermal radiation and thermal conductivity are also explored. Brownian and thermophoresis diffusion effects are taken into account. The system of a higher partial differential equation is transformed to ODEs by using the appropriate similarity functions. Such reported equations are implemented with the computational tool MATLAB shooting approach using a bvp4c solver. The variations of numerous flow parameters comprise velocity, temperature, concentration, and motile microorganism profile. Various important, interesting transport numbers are numerically and graphically demonstrated with physical justifications. The bouncy ratio parameter reduces the fluid's velocity profile whereas the material parameter increases it. For increased melting parameters, the micro rotation profile improves, but it deteriorated. For the Prandtl number and temperature ratio parameters, the temperature profile is negative. The melting parameter influences the concentration profile. The microorganism’s profile is decreased bioconvective Lewis numbers and is higher for the magnetic parameter. The current model has many features in the manufacturing industries, engineering works, physics, and applied mathematics.

The purpose of this work is to investigate the Darcy-Forchheimer flow of a hybrid nanofluid within two parallel discs. We combine gold Au, silver Ag, copper Cu, and iron oxide Fe3O4 nanoparticles with base fluid blood in this framework. An appropriate similarity variables technique is implemented to transform partial differential systems into ordinary systems. In the results validation section, the numerical result is evaluated using a higher-order precise algorithm (bvp4c), and determined to the analytical result is by making use of the firing approach. Pictorial judgments revealed the estimates of several physical variables that arise over the momentum distribution and thermal distribution profiles. As compared to nanofluid, hybrid nanofluid significantly improves heat transfer rate. The thermal profile is improved when the Brinkman number increases in value. As the porosity parameter is increased, the velocity profile decreases. As the amplitude of the rotation parameter increases, so does the pressure profile. The Darcy-Forchheimer medium investigation of a hybrid nano-fluid streaming through the middle of two parallel disks is addressed, taking into account viscous dissipation and heat radiation for various nanoparticles. Additionally, enough agreement is observed when the numerical findings are compared to previously reported and analytical data. As compared to simple nanofluids, hybrid nanofluids have shown higher thermal properties and stability, making them attractive candidates for thermal applications such as solar thermal systems, automotive cooling systems, heat sinks, engineering, medical fields, or thermal energy storage.

Aims: In the current study, the flow of Carreau nano-fluid through the stretched cylinder is subject to the influences of activation energy and heat source/sink with the Cattaneo-Christov heat fluxes model studied. Applications in recent times are the purpose of better heat and mass transport nanoparticles used for this purpose because of their better thermal conductivity than normal fluids. Nanofluids are used in medicines like agricultural sprays and with time it is used in the microprocessor for cooling and also used in the refrigeration industry as coolant. Methodology: The mathematical model was developed by taking these things into account and getting a model of nonlinear partial differential equations for administering this problem. These governing equations system modified into a system of ODE by utilizing appropriate similarity transform. For numerical computation or simulation, the ‘bvp4c’ built-in package of MATLAB is used to implement the shooting technique. Smooth implementation took place by introducing a set of variables to make our system dimensionless. Results/Conclusion: Graphical representation depicts the profiles of concentration, velocity, thermal, and microorganism density, and the impacts of various modeling quantities on these profiles are also discussed and elaborated. In tabular analysis, a contrast of computed outcomes with the previously available outcomes shows the accuracy of our computed results at different values of physical parameters. The presence of motile microorganisms improved the heat transfer rate.

The current study aims to explore the magnetic field on a spinning disk with the hybrid nanofluid flow and Cattaneo-Christov heat theory in the existence of nonlinear thermal radiation incorporating Ag and MnZnFe2O4 nanoparticles. Because silver may increase the thermal characteristics of the base material, it has a wide variety of industrial, pharmaceutical, power generation, and heating and cooling applications. The thermal properties of a hybrid nanofluid were to be found by exploring the aspect of nanomaterials on heat transfer and fluid flow. The principal partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations using appropriate similarity treatments. With the aid of the shooting strategy, higher-order ordinary differential equations are converted to first-order ordinary differential equations. To present the numerical data and graphical results of the flow parameters, the built-in solver Bvp4c in the computational tool MATLAB is used. Several plots are also used to investigate the upshot of physical parameters on the graphically depicted profiles, such as the suction and injection parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number, temperature ratio parameter, thermal radiation parameter, thermal relaxation parameter, and volume friction nanoparticles. For the magnetic parameter, both velocity profiles dropped, but the heat profile increased. When the temperature ratio and heat source-sink parameters were increased while the Prandtl number was decreased, the heat field increased.

Abstract Heat and mass transfer are crucial to numerous technical and commercial operations, including air conditioning, machinery power collectors, crop damage, processing food, heat transfer mechanisms, and cooling, among numerous others. The fundamental purpose of this research is to use the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model to disclose an MHD flow of ternary hybrid nanofluid through double discs. The results of a heat source and a magnetic field are therefore included in a system of PDEs that model the occurrences. These are transformed into an ODE system using similarity replacements. The first-order differential equations that emerge are then handled using the computational technique Bvp4c shooting scheme. The Bvp4c function in MATLAB is used to numerically solve the governing equations. The influence of the key important factors on velocity, temperature, nanoparticles concentration, and is illustrated visually. Furthermore, increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles improves thermal conduction, increasing the heat transfer rate at the top disc. The graph indicates that a slight increase in melting parameter rapidly declines the velocity distribution profile of nanofluid. The temperature profile was boosted due to the growing outcomes of the Prandtl number. The increasing variations of the thermal relaxation parameter decline the thermal distribution profile. Furthermore, for some exceptional instances, the obtained numerical answers were compared to previously disclosed data, yielding a satisfactory compromise. We believe that this discovery will have far-reaching ramifications in engineering, medicine, and the field of biomedical technology. Additionally, this model can be used to examine biological mechanisms, surgical techniques, nano-pharmacological drug delivery systems, and the therapy of diseases like cholesterol using nanotechnology.

Abstract The dominant characteristics of hybrid nanofluids, including rapid heat transfer rates, superior electrical and thermal conductivity, and low cost, have effectively piqued the interest of global researchers. The current study will look at the impacts of a silver and cobalt ferrite-based hybrid nanofluid with MHD between a revolving disk and cone. The collection of partial differentiable equations is converted into a set of ODEs via similarity transformations. We used the Homotopy analysis approach from the BVPh 2.0 package to solve the ordinary differential equations. The volume proportion of nanoparticles increases and the temperature distribution profile also increased. It is more efficient for metallurgical, medicinal, and electrical applications. Furthermore, the antibacterial capabilities of silver nanoparticles might be used to restrict the growth of bacteria. A circulating disc with a stationary cone has been identified to provide the optimal cooling of the cone disc device while maintaining the outer edge temperature constant. This study's findings might be useful in materials science and engineering. The usage of hybrid nanofluid in heat transfer and heat pumps, coolants in manufacturing and production, producing cooling, refrigerators, solar thermal collectors, and heating, air conditioning, and climate control applications are only a few examples.

Abstract In present times modern electronic devices often come across thermal difficulties as an outcome of excessive heat production or reduction in surface area for heat exclusion. The current study is aimed to inspect the role of iron (III) oxide in heat transfer enhancement over the rotating disk in an axisymmetric flow. Water is utilized as base fluid conveying nano-particle over the revolving axisymmetric flow mechanism. Additionally, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach is taken into consideration to design and compute the present problem. For our convenience, two-dimensional axisymmetric flow configurations are considered to illustrate the different flow profiles. For radial, axial, and tangential velocity profiles, the magnitude of the velocity, streamlines, and surface graphs are evaluated with the similarity solution in the computational fluid dynamics module. The solution of dimensionless equations and the outcomes of direct simulations in the CFD module show a comparable solution of the velocity profile. It is observed that with an increment in nanoparticle volumetric concentration the radial velocity decline where a tangential motion of flow enhances. Streamlines stretch around the circular surface with the passage of time. The high magnetization force $$0 \le {{\mathrm{m}}_{1}}\le 6$$ 0 ≤ m 1 ≤ 6 resist the free motion of the nanofluid around the rotating disk. Such research has never been done, to the best of the researchers’ knowledge. The outcomes of this numerical analysis could be used for the design, control, and optimization of numerous thermal engineering systems, as described above, due to the intricate physics of nanofluid under the influences of magnetic field and the inclusion of complex geometry. Ferrofluids are metallic nanoparticle colloidal solutions. These kinds of fluids do not exist in nature. Depending on their purpose, ferrofluids are produced using a variety of processes. One of the most essential characteristics of ferrofluids is that they operate in a zero-gravity environment. Ferrofluids have a wide range of uses in engineering and medicine. Ferrofluids have several uses, including heat control loudspeakers and frictionless sealing. In the sphere of medicine, however, ferrofluid is employed in the treatment of cancer via magneto hyperthermia.

الملخص: أهداف البحث: ارتبط تعدد الأشكال الجيني لجين سينثاز أكسيد النيتريك البطاني (إينوس) ارتباطا وثيقا بالعديد من أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية في مجتمعات مختلفة. هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى التحقق من ارتباط تعدد الأشكال إينوس مع تقدم احتشاء عضل القلب. طرق البحث: تم تسجيل خمسة وثمانين شخصا صحيحا وثمانين مريضا بمرض احتشاء عضل القلب تم إدخالهم إلى مركز القلب في أربيل في إقليم كردستان العراق في الدراسة. كان جميع المشاركين أكرادا من نفس المجموعة العرقية. تم استخدام ''تفاعل البلمرة المتسلسل لنظام الطفرة المقاومة للتضخيم'' لتحديد تعدد الأشكال إينوس ومستوى مصل أكسيد النيتريك بواسطة مقياس الطيف الضوئي. النتائج: كانت الترددات النمط الجيني لأنواع إينوس الثلاثة ''أأ'' (النوع البري) و''أج'' و''ج ج'' هي 58.75% و33.75٪ و7.50٪ على التوالي في مرضى احتشاء عضل القلب، وبالنسبة للمجموعة الضابطة كانت 49.41٪ و 43.53٪ و 7.06٪ على التوالي. كما كانت ترددات الأليلات ''أ'' و ''ج'' في مجموعة مرضى احتشاء عضل القلب هي 75.6% و 24.4٪ على التوالي، بينما كانت في المجموعة الضابطة 71.2٪ و 28.8٪ على التوالي. كذلك كشفت النتائج عن عدم وجود ارتباط بين توزيع الأنماط الجينية ومستوى أكسيد النيتريك في مصل الدم مع زيادة خطر الإصابة باحتشاء عضل القلب. الاستنتاجات: خلصت الدراسة إلى عدم وجود ارتباط بين الأنماط الجينية والأليلات لإينوس مع قابلية حدوث احتشاء عضل القلب. Abstract: Objectives: The genetic polymorphisms of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene are strongly associated with several cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in various populations. The current study aimed to investigate the association of the eNOS rs1800779 (A/G) polymorphism with the progress of myocardial infarction (MI). Methods: Eighty-five healthy subjects and 80 patients with MI admitted to the Erbil Cardiac Centre in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq were enrolled in the study. All participants were Kurdish from the same ethnic group. The amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR) was used to determine the rs1800779 (A/G) polymorphism of eNOS, and the nitric oxide (NO) serum level was detected by spectrophotometer. Results: The genotypic frequencies of the eNOS rs1800779 AA (wild type), AG, and GG were 58.75%, 33.75%, and 7.50%, respectively, in the MI patients, and 49.41%, 43.53%, and 7.06%, respectively, for the control group. The frequencies of the A and the G alleles were 75.6% and 24.4%, respectively, in the MI group, and 71.2% and 28.8%, respectively, in the control subjects. The results revealed a lack of association of the rs1800779 genotype distribution with the level of NO serum and increased risk of MI. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is a lack of association between the genotypes and alleles of the rs1800779 eNOS and susceptibility to MI in the studied population.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has no socioeconomic, topographical, or sex limitations as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The significant drivers of CVD are cardio-metabolic, behavioral, environmental, and social risk factors. However, some significant risk factors for CVD (e.g., a pitiable diet, tobacco smoking, and a lack of physical activities), have also been linked to an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease. Lifestyles and environmental factors are known key variables in cardiovascular disease. The familiarity with smoke goes along with the contact with the environment: air pollution is considered a source of toxins that contribute to the CVD burden. The incidence of myocardial infarction increases in males and females and may lead to fatal coronary artery disease, as confirmed by epidemiological studies. Lipid modification, inflammation, and vasomotor dysfunction are integral components of atherosclerosis development and advancement. These aspects are essential for the identification of atherosclerosis in clinical investigations. This article aims to show the findings on the influence of CVD on the health of individuals and human populations, as well as possible pathology and their involvement in smoking-related cardiovascular diseases. This review also explains lifestyle and environmental factors that are known to contribute to CVD, with indications suggesting an affiliation between cigarette smoking, air pollution, and CVD.

The current research was to develop nanoparticles based on Mimosa pudica mucilage (MPM) that could encapsulate losartan potassium (LP). Nanoparticles (NPs) produced through ionic-gelation method; the polymerization of the mucilage carried out using calcium chloride as cross-linking agent. The MPMLP-NPs demonstrated vastly enhanced pharmaceutical characteristics, presented discrete surface with spherical shape of 198.4–264.6 nm with PDI ranging 0.326–0.461 and entrapment efficiency was in the range of 80.65 ± 0.82–90.79 ± 0.96%. FTIR and DSC indicated the stability of drug during the formulation of nanoparticles. An acute oral toxicity investigation found no significant alterations in behavior and histopathology criteria. The MPMLP-NPs formulation revealed the better rates and sustained effect as assessed with the commercial product. Moreover, low dose of MPMLP-NPs showed similar anti-hypertensive effect as assessed with the marketed tablet.

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and cardio-protective effects of biocompatible silicon-built restraint device (ASD) in the rat’s heart failure (HF) model. The performance and compliance characteristics of the ASD device were assessed in vitro by adopting a pneumatic drive and ball burst test. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into four groups (n = 6); control, HF, HF + CSD, and HF + ASD groups, respectively. Heart failure was developed by left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery ligation in all groups except the control group. The ASD and CSD devices were implanted in the heart of HF + ASD and HF + CSD groups, respectively. The ASD’s functional and expansion ability was found to be safe and suitable for attenuating ventricular remodeling. ASD-treated rats showed normal heart rhythm, demonstrated by smooth -ST and asymmetrical T-wave. At the same time, hemodynamic parameters of the HF + ASD group improved systolic and diastolic functions, reducing ventricular wall stress, which indicated reverse remodeling. The BNP values were reduced in the HF + ASD group, which confirmed ASD feasibility and reversed remodeling at a molecular level. Furthermore, the HF + ASD group with no fibrosis suggests that ASD has significant curative effects on the heart muscles. In conclusion, ASD was found to be a promising restraint therapy than the previously standard restraint therapies. Recent progresses in nanotechnologies and nanoscience have led to the creation of hybrid nanofluids, which are a complicated category of fluids with superior thermal features to regular nanofluids. The current framework demonstrates the importance of a two-dimensional steady incompressible axisymmetric flow of Maxwell hybrid nanofluid over double disks with thermal radiation. This investigation analyzes a novel idea regarding the execution of the Cattaneo-Christov heat theory and melting phenomenon by considering transformer oil as a base fluid. Two dissimilar classes of hybrid nanofluid, Iron–Titanium oxide/Transformer oil (Fe3O4–TiO2/TO) and Copper–Titanium oxide/Transformer oil (Cu–TiO2/TO) have been taken into our research work. The main equations (PDEs)are translated into a present set of ODEs using the necessary similarity variables. In MATLAB, the shooting scheme is utilized to evaluate the numerical and graphical outcomes of physical flow parameters. The radial velocity rose as the volume fraction of nanoparticles increased. The radial velocity field is increased as the porosity parameter is enhanced. The temperature profile is decreased with increasing the values of the thermal redaction parameter. Furthermore, because of the higher compactness of the copper nanoparticles, the addition of the volume fraction of nanoparticles slows the flow profile, and because copper is an excellent conductor of heat, it raises the fluid temperature throughout the domain. The mathematical fallouts also tackle the idea of employing magnetized spinning discs in space engines and nuclear propulsion, and such a model carries useful applications in heat transfer enhancement in a wide range of industrial thermal management devices and renewable energy generation systems.

Bioconvection and motile microorganisms with Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects are considered.y linked similarity transformations, the boundary layer set of controlling partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations. A numerical strategy (shooting technique) is used to handle the transformed system of ordinary differential equations through the Bvp4c solver of the computing tool MATLAB. The results for velocity and temperature, concentration, and motile microbe profiles are numerically and graphically examined for various parameters. The velocity distribution profile decreased as the magnetic parameter varied, but increased when the mixed convection parameter increased in magnitude. The heat flux profile is improved with higher estimations of the Biot number and thermophoresis parameter. When the Prandtl number and the Brownian motion parameter's values rise, the energy profile falls. When the Peclet number and bioconvection Lewis number increased, the profile of mobile microorganisms dropped.

Significance of study: High combustion temperatures necessitate appropriate cooling systems in the combustion process. Regenerative cooling is used in the majority of chambers in liquid propellant engines. The addition of nanoparticles to the cooling fluid is a novel technique to increase the efficiency of heat transfer in the regenerative cooling process. Aim of the study: In this investigation, we investigate the two-dimensional flow of the hybrid nanofluid with suction/injection effect over two horizontal parallel plates. The non-linear thermal radiation effect is measured in the model of a hybrid nanofluid. Here we use single-walled carbon nanotubes, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, nickel-zinc iron oxide, and manganese zinc iron oxide with base fluid engine oil. The effects of different shape factors (Sphere, Bricks, Cylinder, Platelets, Column, and Lamina)are also incorporated. Research methodology: Using appropriate similarity transformations, the controlling partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations. Using the shooting strategy, the transformed higher-order ordinary differential equations are converted to first-order ordinary differential equations, and the Bvp4c built-in function in MATLAB is used to produce the numerical and graphical results of the flow parameter. Conclusion: The velocity profile is decreased by the increasing values of the suction/injection parameter. The temperature distribution profile declined for the higher values of the temperature ratio parameter. The combination of nickel zinc iron oxide and carbon nanotube nanomaterials to engine oil as a cooling fluid enhanced the heat transfer coefficient. According to the findings, carbon nanotubes outperform nickel zinc iron oxide nanoparticles in terms of increasing heat transfer coefficient and improving regenerative cooling.

The use of a ternary hybrid nanofluid, a new form of nanofluid, can improve heat movement. The current research employs a two-dimensional steady model to investigate nonlinear thermal radiation via ternary hybrid nanofluid flow across a revolving disc. The study of manganese zinc ferrite, copper, and silver nanocomposite base hybrid nanofluid across a spinning disc is gaining traction in invention and research due to its broad range of applications. To derive dimensionless forms of regulating paired nonlinear partial differential equations, a collection of pertinent similarity transformations is used. Based on the shooting method, the modified collection of ODEs is then analytically solved by bvp4c via the computational tool MATLAB. Furthermore, as the magnetic parameter values are reduced, the fluid velocity declines while the fluid temperature grows over a spinning disc. For larger levels, the temperature of the distribution and the radiant heat component rises. The ternary composite nanofluid has the largest impact on the surface. Furthermore, compared to the hybrid and based nanofluids, the heat generation rate of the ternary nanofluid combination is the higher transmission. The significance of Ag nanoparticles in the food industry is because of their anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal properties, silver (Ag) is widely used in everyday products such as fabrics, pastes, polymers, food, and detergents. Manganese zinc ferrites (MnZnFe2O4) have recently piqued the interest of material science researchers due to their broad variety of applications. They are extensively used in energy storage devices, catalysts, adsorbents, sensing and imaging, therapeutic action, and other applications.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a widespread metabolic disorder with a yearly 6.7 million deaths worldwide. Several treatment options are available but with common side effects like weight gain, cardiovascular diseases, neurotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and nephrotoxicity. Therefore, ethnomedicine is gaining the interest of researchers in the treatment of DM. Ethnomedicine works by preventing intestinal absorption and hepatic production of glucose as well as enhancing glucose uptake in muscles and fatty tissues and increasing insulin secretion. A variety of plants have entered clinical trials but very few have gained approval for use. This current study provides an evaluation of such clinical trials. For this purpose, an extensive literature review was performed from a database using keywords like “ethnomedicine diabetes clinical trial”, “clinical trials”, “clinical trial in diabetes”, “diabetes”, “natural products in diabetes”, “ethno-pharmacological relevance of natural products in diabetes”, etc. Clinical trials of 20 plants and natural products were evaluated based on eligibility criteria. Major limitations associated with these clinical trials were a lack of patient compliance, dose-response relationship, and an evaluation of biomarkers with a small sample size and treatment duration. Measures in terms of strict regulations can be considered to achieve quality clinical trials. A specific goal of this systematic review is to discuss DM treatment through ethnomedicine based on recent clinical trials of the past 7 years.

The goal of this research was to develop, fabricate and analyze polymeric nanoparticles for the administration of methotrexate (MTX). Linseed mucilage and chitosan nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared using a slightly modified polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) method. The size, shape, and encapsulation effectiveness of the resultant nanoparticles were measured. MTX release profiles at gastrointestinal pH (1.2 and 7.4) and tumor pH (5.5) were examined to determine the targeted potential of NPs as pH-responsive nanocarriers. Zeta analysis showed that nanoparticles prepared by PEC have a size range of 192.1 nm to 246 nm, and PDI was 0.3 of the optimized formulation, which showed homogenous nature of prepared nanoparticles formulation. The findings demonstrated that NPs have a low polydispersity index and a positive zeta potential (PDI). The in-vitro release of the drug indicated a pH-dependent, sustained drug release up to 24 h. Blank LSMCSNPs had almost no in-vivo cytotoxicity for 14 days, while optimum MTX loaded NPs had strong antitumor effects on HepG2 and MCF-7 cells as measured by the MTT assay. Cell apoptosis induction was also checked and MCF-7 cells treated with MTX-LSMCSNPs had a significantly greater rate of apoptosis (21.2 %) than those treated with MTX alone (14.14 %). The findings show that LSMCSNPs could be a potential delivery mechanism for methotrexate to cancer cells in a secure, steady, and ideally controlled manner to improve therapeutic outcomes.

The proposed study aims to examine the numerical modeling of hybrid nanofluid with nanoparticles such as gold and silver across stenotic artery using Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in COMSOL Multiphysics. Blood is employed as the base fluid in this research investigation. The flow is modeled as an unstable, incompressible, and laminar Newtonian fluid and blood's Newtonian character is suitable at high shear rates. The performance of blood flow was studied to receive pressure, heat, and velocity changes caused by the stenotic artery. Silver and gold nanomaterials were employed in this study. The Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach was used to develop an algorithm for mass, velocity, and energy. COMSOL Multiphysics was used to produce a fine element-size mesh. To the knowledge of the researchers, no one has previously tried to obtain medical processes and therapy implications by studying the flow via a deformed porous channel using blood as a base fluid and as nanostructure materials. Indeed, the findings of this study are unique, and the numerical findings have never been reported by any scholar.

Addressing the growing need for methods for ecofriendly dye removal from aqueous media, this study explores the potential of rice husks coated with iron oxide (Fe2O3@RH composites) for efficient Acid Blue 25 decontamination. The adsorption potential of Acid Blue 25 is analyzed using raw rice husks and Fe2O3 nanoparticles in the literature, but their enhanced removal capacity by means of Fe2O3@RH composites is reported for the first time in this study. Fe2O3@RH composites were analyzed by using analytical techniques such as TGA, SEM, FTIR, BET, and the point of zero charge (pH(PZC)). The Acid Blue 25 adsorption experiment using Fe2O3@RH composites showed maximum adsorption at an initial concentration of Acid Blue 25 of 80 ppm, a contact time of 50 min, a temperature of 313 K, 0.25 g of Fe2O3@RH composites, and a pH of 2. The maximum percentage removal of Acid Blue 25 was found to be 91%. Various linear and nonlinear kinetic and isothermal models were used in this study to emphasize the importance and necessity of the adsorption process. Adsorption isotherms such as the Freundlich, Temkin, Langmuir, and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) models were applied. The results showed that all the isotherms were best fitted on the data, except the linear form of the D–R isotherm. Adsorption kinetics such as the intraparticle kinetic model, the Elovich kinetic model, and the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models were applied. All the kinetic models were found to be best fitted on the data, except the PSO model (types II, III, and IV). Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG° (KJ/mol), ΔH° (KJ/mol), and ΔS° (J/K*mol) were studied, and the reaction was found to be exothermic in nature with an increase in the entropy of the system, which supported the adsorption phenomenon. The current study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the adsorption process and its underlying mechanisms through characterization, the optimization of the conditions, and the application of various models. The findings of the present study suggest practical applications of this method in wastewater treatment and environmental remediation.

Curcumin’s applications in the treatment of conditions including osteoarthritis, dementia, malignancies of the pancreas, and malignancies of the intestines have drawn increasing attention. It has several wonderful qualities, including being an anti-inflammatory agent, an anti-mutagenic agent, and an antioxidant, and has substantially reduced inherent cytotoxicity outcomes. Although curcumin possesses multiple known curative properties, due to its limited bioavailability, it is necessary to develop efficient strategies to overcome these hurdles. To establish an effective administration method, various niosomal formulations were optimized using the Box–Behnken design and assessed in the current investigation. To examine the curcumin niosomes, zeta sizer, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, SEM, antioxidant potential, cytotoxicity, and release studies were performed. The optimized curcumin niosomes exhibited an average particle size of 169.4 nm, a low PDI of 0.189, and high entrapment efficiency of 85.4%. The release profile showed 79.39% curcumin after 24 h and had significantly higher antioxidant potential as compared with that of free curcumin. The cytotoxicity results of curcumin niosomes presented increased mortality in human ovarian cancer A2780.

The primary reason for adopting gold and silver nanoparticles as nanomaterials for drug delivery is because they exhibit potential drug transport and imaging properties. The temperature and the velocity of the blood gradually decline as increment the size of the nano particles of gold. Furthermore, the effects of heat source-sink and thermal radiation are considered. To convert the partial differential equations (PDEs) into dimensionless ordinary differential equations (ODEs), a method of suitable similarity transformations has been utilized and then solved by using the bvp4c built in solver in MATLAB mathematical software to get the numerical solutions as well as the graphical results. Higher order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are than tackled via shooting scheme. The outcomes of physical controlling parameters via temperature and velocity profiles are elaborated through graphs. The thermal distribution profile shows increasing behavior for the raising variations of Biot number and thermal radiation parameter. The current approach has the potential to be highly beneficial for efficient drug delivery in blood.

Furan chalcone scaffolds belong to the most privileged and promising oxygen-containing heterocyclic class of compounds, which have a wide spectrum of therapeutic applications in the field of pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry. This research described the synthesis of a series of twelve novel and seven reported furan chalcone (conventional synthetic approach) analogues 4a–s through the application of microwave-assisted synthetic methodology and evaluated for therapeutic inhibition potential against bacterial urease enzyme. In the first step, a series of nineteen substituted 5-aryl-2-furan-2-carbaldehyde derivatives 3a–s were achieved in moderate to good yields (40–70%). These substituted 5-aryl-2-furan-2-carbaldehyde derivatives 3a–s were condensed with acetophenone via Claisen–Schmidt condensation to furnish 19 substituted furan chalcone scaffolds 4a–s in excellent yields (85–92%) in microwave-assisted synthetic approach, while in conventional methodology, these furan chalcone 4a–s were furnished in good yield (65–90%). Furan chalcone structural motifs 4a–s were characterized through elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques. These nineteen (19)-afforded furan chalcones 4a–s were screened for urease inhibitory chemotherapeutic efficacy and most of the furan chalcones displayed promising urease inhibition activity. The most active urease inhibitors were 1-phenyl-3-[5-(2′,5′-dichlorophenyl)-2-furyl]-2–propen-1-one 4h with an IC50 value of 16.13 ± 2.45 μM, and 1-phenyl- 3-[5-(2′-chlorophenyl)-2-furyl] -2-propen-1-one 4s with an IC50 value of 18.75 ± 0.85 μM in comparison with reference drug thiourea (IC50 = 21.25 ± 0.15 μM). These furan chalcone derivatives 4h and 4s are more efficient urease inhibitors than reference drug thiourea. Structure–activity relationship (SAR) revealed that the 2,5-dichloro 4h and 2-chloro 4s moiety containing furan chalcone derivatives may be considered as potential lead reagents for urease inhibition. The in silico molecular docking study results are in agreement with the experimental biological findings. The results of this study may be helpful in the future drug discovery and designing of novel efficient urease inhibitory agents from this biologically active class of furan chalcones.

Background: Cerebral ischemia is characterized by inadequate blood supply to the brain to fulfill its metabolic demand. It is a leading cause of stroke. The objective of this study aimed to elucidate the effects of ethanolic extract of Siegesbeckia pubescens (EESP) Makino against cerebral ischemia in rats. Methods: Sixty male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were distributed into 5 groups (n = 12) viz., low dose (2.5 g/kg/day) EESP group, high dose (5 g/kg/day) EESP group, Nimodipine group, untreated control, and sham-operated control. The reference group received 16 mg/kg/day of nimodipine, while the untreated and sham-operated control was given 20 ml/kg of distilled water. The middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) induced focal cerebral ischemia. On the 7th day of the trial, neurological evaluation and biochemical assays were carried out. After that, rats were sacrificed, and the brain infarct area was analyzed with image processing software. Results: The extent of neurologic deficits, infarct area, concentration of superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) was significantly altered by the EESP when compared with untreated control and Sham-operated control. Conclusions: Taken together, these results reported protective effects of EESP on cerebrovascular ischemia that perhaps correlate with its mechanism of free radical scavenging. Our findings may provide insight into treating cerebral ischemia and give a new research era for further study.

Quince seed mucilage was used in a combination of sodium alginate to develop sustained-release microspheres of cefixime. Physical characterizations such as FTIR, TGA, DSC, and SEM were performed on the prepared microspheres. The swelling of microspheres was maximum at pH 7.4 and reduced at acidic pH. The average particle size ranged from 679 µm ± 0.21 to 810 µm ± 0.31, while the drug encapsulation efficiency range was found as 73.76 ± 0.24–85.63 ± 0.46. In vitro release profile of QSM-alginate-cefixime microspheres followed Korsmeyer-Peppas model (R2 = 0.9732-–0.9946); and release was non-Fickian as we found value of n > 1. This study reveals the benefits of QSM-alginate microspheres for the sustained release of cefixime without any toxicity and it also improved antibacterial properties.

Green synthesis is one of the promising pathways for biologically active nanoscale materials. Herein, an eco-friendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) was carried out using an extract of Teucrium stocksianum. The biological reduction and size of NPS were optimized by controlling the physicochemical parameters such as concentration, temperature, and pH. A comparison of fresh and air-dried plant extracts was also undertaken to establish a reproducible methodology. The biosynthesized SNPs were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, SEM, DLS, and XRD analyses. The prepared SNPs exhibited significant biological potential against multi-drug-resistant pathogenic strains. The results revealed that the biosynthesized SNPs exhibit high antimicrobial activity at low concentrations compared to the parent plant extract. Minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) values were found between 5.3 µg/mL to 9.7 µg/mL for the biosynthesized SNPs, whereas the aqueous extract of the plant showed many high values of MIC, i.e., between 69 and 98 µg/ML. Furthermore, the synthesized SNPs were found efficient in the photolytic degradation of methylene blue under sunlight.

The present study is aimed at enhancing the solubility of rosuvastatin (RST) by designing betacyclodextrin/polyvinypyrrolidone-co-poly (2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulphonic acid) crosslinked hydrophilic nanogels in the presence of crosslinker methylene bisacrylamide through free-radical polymerization method. Various formulations were fabricated by blending different amounts of betacyclodextrin, polyvinylpyrrolidone, 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulphonic acid, and methylene bisacrylamide. The developed chemically crosslinked nanogels were characterized by FTIR, SEM, PXRD, TGA, DSC, sol-gel analysis, zeta size, micromeritics properties, drug loading percentage, swelling, solubility, and release studies. The FTIR spectrum depicts the leading peaks of resultant functional groups of blended constituents while a fluffy and porous structure was observed through SEM images. Remarkable reduction in crystallinity of RST in developed nanogels revealed by PXRD. TGA and DSC demonstrate the good thermal stability of nanogels. The size analysis depicts the particle size of the developed nanogels in the range of 178.5 ±3.14 nm. Drug loading percentage, swelling, solubility, and release studies revealed high drug loading, solubilization, swelling, and drug release patterns at 6.8 pH paralleled to 1.2 pH. In vivo experiments on developed nanogels in comparison to marketed brands were examined and better results regarding pharmacokinetic parameters were observed. The compatibility and non-toxicity of fabricated nanogels to biological systems was supported by a toxicity study that was conducted on rabbits. Efficient fabrication, excellent physicochemical properties, improved dissolution, high solubilization, and nontoxic nanogels might be a capable approach for the oral administration of poorly water-soluble drugs.

Citrullus colocynthis is an herbaceous plant containing an abundance of nutrients that play a key role in the improvement of wellbeing. C. colocynthis has many biological properties, such as antioxidative, hypoglycemic, antibacterial, anti-cancerous, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, gastrointestinal tract, reproduction, protection, anti-microbial, antidiabetic, hypolipidemic, antineoplastic, profibrinolytic, anti-allergic, pesticidal, and immune-stimulatory. There are numerous bioactive compounds like cucurbitacin, flavonoids, and polyphenols in C. colocynthis that give it medicinal properties. Herein, we have extensively compiled, reviewed, and analyzed significant information on C. colocynthhis from the best published available evidence in PubMed, Scopus (Embase), Web of Science (Web of Knowledge), Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar, etc. Scientific literature evidenced that owing to the bioactive constituents, including cucurbitacin, polyphenols, flavonoids, and other potent molecules, C. colocynthis has many pharmacological and physiological functions. It possesses multi-beneficial applications in treating various disorders of humans and animals. So, the primary purpose of this comprehensive review is to provide an overview of the findings of positive impacts and risks of C. colocynthis consumption on human health, especially in poultry and veterinary fields. In the future, this narrative article will be aware of discoveries about the potential of this promising natural fruit and its bioactive compounds as the best nutraceuticals and therapeutic drugs in veterinary and human medicine.

The study aimed to fabricate and evaluate Meloxicam (MLX) loaded Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) microparticles for colon targeting because MLX is a potent analgesic used in the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with colorectal cancer (CRC). Nevertheless, its efficiency is limited by poor solubility and gastrointestinal tracts (GIT) associated side effects. Seventeen formulations of MLX loaded HPMC microparticles were fabricated by the oil-in-oil (O/O)/ emulsion solvent evaporation (ESE) technique. A 3-factor, 3-level Box Behnken (BBD) statistical design was used to estimate the combined effects of the independent variables on the dependent variables (responses), such as the percent yield (R1), the entrapment efficiency (EE) (R2), mean particle size (R3) and in vitro percentage of cumulative drug release (R4). For physicochemical characterization FTIR, XRD, DSC, and SEM analyses were performed. Biocompatibility and non-toxicity were confirmed by in-vivo acute oral toxicity determination. The percentage yield and EE were 65.75–90.71%, and 70.62–88.37%, respectively. However, the mean particle size was 62.89–284.55 μm, and the in vitro cumulative drug release percentage was 74.25–92.64% for 24 hours. FTIR analysis showed that the composition of the particles was completely compatible, while XRD analysis confirmed the crystalline nature of the pure drug and its transition into an amorphous state after formulation. DSC analysis revealed the thermal stability of the formulations. The SEM analysis showed dense spherical particles. The toxicity study in albino rabbits showed no toxicity and was found biocompatible. The histopathological evaluation showed no signs of altered patterns. Results of this study highlighted a standard colonic drug delivery system with the ability to improve patient adherence and reduce GIT drug-associated side effects in CRC treatment.

This study aims to scrutinize the mathematical formulations of hybrid nanoliquid filled with thermal radiation, Cattaneo-Christov heat theory and melting phenomenon in a nozzle of rocket engine that includes hybrid nanoparticles (CoFe2O4,CdTe,TiO2,Cu&CuO)and kerosene (C12H26−C15H32) utilized as a base fluid. The main governing equations are changed into a system of nonlinear ODEs using the similarity transformations. The outcomes of the transformed equations have been achieved by using the bvp4c method in MATLAB software. Physical flow characteristics are shown against velocity, temperature, and entropy generation profiles. The velocity is declined for the greater values of volume fraction of nanoparticles and melting parameter. The thermal field is declined for the variations of thermal relaxation and melting parameters while boomed for the higher values of Biot number. The entropy generation profile is increased for the greater estimations of Reynolds number and Brinkman parameter. To the best of the researcher's information, no one has previously attempted to characterize melting phenomena and Cattaneo-Chrsitov heat theory applications by studying the flow through a nozzle of rocket engine using (CoFe2O4,CdTe,TiO2,Cu&CuO) hybrid nanoparticles and kerosene (C12H26−C15H32) as a base fluid.

The screening of hair follicles, dermal papilla cells, and keratinocytes through in vitro, in vivo, and histology has previously been reported to combat alopecia. Ficus benghalensis has been used conventionally to cure skin and hair disorders, although its effect on 5α-reductase II is still unknown. Currently, we aim to analyze the phytotherapeutic impact of F. benghalensis leaf extracts (FBLEs) for promoting hair growth in rabbits along with in vitro inhibition of the steroid isozyme 5α-reductase II. The inhibition of 5α-reductase II by FBLEs was assessed by RP-HPLC, using the NADPH cofactor as the reaction initiator and Minoxin (5%) as a positive control. In silico studies were performed using AutoDock Vina to visualize the interaction between 5α-reductase II and the reported phytoconstituents present in FBLEs. Hair growth in female albino rabbits was investigated by applying an oral dose of the FBLE formulation and control drug to the skin once a day. The skin tissues were examined by histology to see hair follicles. Further, FAAS, FTIR, and antioxidants were performed to check the trace elements and secondary metabolites in the FBLEs. The results of RP-HPLC and the binding energies showed that FBLEs reduced the catalytic activity of 5α-reductase II and improved cell proliferation in rabbits. The statistical analysis (p < 0.05 or 0.01) and percentage inhibition (>70%) suggested that hydroalcoholic FBLE has more potential in increasing hair growth by elongating hair follicle’s anagen phase. FAAS, FTIR, and antioxidant experiments revealed sufficient concentrations of Zn, Cu, K, and Fe, together with the presence of polyphenols and scavenging activity in FBLE. Overall, we found that FBLEs are potent in stimulating hair follicle maturation by reducing the 5α-reductase II action, so they may serve as a principal choice in de novo drug designing to treat hair loss.

The current research aimed to fabricate ondansetron nanostructured lipid carriers (OND-NLCs) and incorporate them into a suppository base to manage chemotherapy-induced vomiting and nausea, which offer the advantage of both rapid onset and prolonged release. NLCs were fabricated by adopting the solvent diffusion method. The binary lipid mixture of oleic acid (liquid lipid) and lauric acid (solid lipid) were prepared in distinct ratios. The NLCs were characterized concerning the surface charge, size, drug encapsulation efficiency, and surface morphology. In addition, the influence of surfactant, co-surfactant, and lipid on entrapment efficiency and particle size was investigated. Phosphate buffer having pH 7.4 is used for evaluating in vitro drug release by utilizing a dialysis membrane. Various kinetics models were used to estimate the drug release kinetics of fabricated nanostructured lipid carriers. The particle size of the NLCs was calculated between 101 and 378 nm with negative zeta potential on the NLC’s surface. The entrapment efficiency was found between 68 and 87%. Scanning Electron Microscopic analysis showed the spherical shape of nanostructured lipid carriers. The dissolution profile of the ondansetron-loaded NLC suppository depicts biphasic behavior of firstly burst release then slow release was observed. The diffusion controlled release was evident from kinetic modeling. The succeeding step comprehended the fabrication and characterization of NLC-based suppositories utilizing NLC formulations that demonstrated the combined advantage of rapid onset, prolonged release, and better in vivo bioavailability as compared to control suppository.

The first and only antidepressant drug on the market with solid proof of clinically significant serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibition is clomipramine (CLP). However, significant first-pass metabolism reduces its absorption to less than 62%. It is heavily protein-bound and broadly dispersed across the body (9–25 L/kg volume of distribution). The purpose of this research was to formulate CLP orodispersible tablets that immediately enable the drug to enter the bloodstream and bypass systemic portal circulation to improve its bioavailability. A factorial design was employed using varied amounts of Plantago ovata mucilage (POM) as a natural superdisintegrant, as well as croscarmellose sodium and crospovidone as synthetic disintegrants. Their physiochemical compatibility was evaluated by FTIR, DSC/TGA, and PXRD analysis. The blend of all formulations was assessed for pre- and post-compaction parameters. The study found that tablets comprising Plantago ovata mucilage as a superdisintegrant showed a rapid in vitro disintegration time, i.e., around 8.39 s, and had an excellent dissolution profile. The anti-depressant efficacy was evaluated by an open-field test (OFT) and the forced swimming test (FST) was applied to create hopelessness and despair behavior as a model of depression in animals (Albino rats). The in vivo study revealed that the efficiency of the optimized formulation (F9) in the treatment of depression is more than the marketed available clomfranil tablet, and may be linked to its rapid disintegration and bypassing of systemic portal circulation.

Cuscuta, commonly known as dodder, is a genus of family convolvolaceace. Approximately 170 species of Cuscuta are extensively distributed in temperate and subtropical areas of the world. Species of this genus are widely used as essential constituents in functional foods and traditional medicinal systems. Various parts of many members of Cuscuta have been found efficacious against a variety of diseases. Phytochemical investigations have confirmed presence of biologically active moieties such as flavonoids, alkaloids, lignans, saponines, phenolics, tannins, and fatty acids. Pharmacological studies and traditional uses of these plants have proved that they are effective antibacterial, antioxidant, antiostioporotic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antipyretic, antihypertensive, analgesic, anti hair fall, and antisteriogenic agents.

The novel Aerva javanica absorbent was applied for the removal of thirteen selected metal ions from a distilled water solution of each metal by the batch adsorption method. The optimization remediation parameters of the metal ions for the batch adsorption approach were developed, which were the initial concentrations (60 ppm), contact time (60 min) and pH (7). The basic properties of metal ion affected the adsorption results; therefore, 21 properties of metal ions were selected, which are called “descriptors”. The most significant descriptors were selected that were vital for the adsorption results, such as covalent index, polarizability and ion charge. The developed model equation by the descriptors provided more than 80% accuracy in the predicted results. Furthermore, Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models were also applied on the results. Constants of the Freundlich and Langmuir models were also used for model generation, and the results revealed the importance of a covalent index for the removal phenomenon of metal ions. The current study provided a suitable Ion Character Property Relationship (IC-PR) for the removal of metal ions, and future predictions can be achieved on the proposed adsorbent with significant accuracy. The ecofriendly and cost effective Aerva javanica absorbent in the batch experimental model of the current study predicted that this novel absorbent can be used for the removal of a wide spectrum of heavy metal ions from different sources of waste waters.

The pH-sensitive polymeric matrix of basil seed gum (BSG), with two different monomers, such as acrylic acid (AA) and N, N-Methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA), was selected to use in hydrogels preparation through a free radical copolymerization technique using potassium per sulfate (KPS) as a cross linker. BSG, AA and MBA were used in multiple ratios to investigate the polymer, monomer and initiator effects on swelling properties and release pattern of captopril. Characterization of formulated hydrogels was done by FTIR, DSC/TGA, XRD and SEM techniques to confirm the stability. The hydrogels were subjected to a variety of tests, including dynamic swelling investigations, drug loading, in vitro drug release, sol–gel analyses and rheological studies. FTIR analysis confirmed that after the polymeric reaction of BSG with the AA monomer, AA chains grafted onto the backbone of BSG. The SEM micrographs illustrated an irregular, rough, and porous form of surface. Gel content was increased by increasing the contents of polymeric gum (BSG) with monomers (AA and MBA). Acidic and basic pH effects highlighted the difference between the swelling properties with BSG and AA on increasing concentration. Kinetic modelling suggested that Korsmeyer Peppas model release pattern was followed by the drug with the non-Fickian diffusion mechanism.

Combinations of polymers can improve the functional properties of microspheres to achieve desired therapeutic goals. Hence, the present study aimed to formulate Prunus armeniaca gum (PAG) and sodium alginate microsphere for sustained drug release. Blended and coated microspheres were prepared using the ionotropic gelation technique. The effect of polymer concentration variation was studied on the structural and functional properties of formulated microspheres. FTIR, XRD, and thermal analysis were performed to characterize the microspheres. All the formulations were well-formed spherical beads having an average diameter from 579.23 ± 07.09 to 657.67 ± 08.74 μm. Microspheres entrapped drugs within the range 65.86 ± 0.26–83.74 ± 0.79%. The pH-dependent swelling index of coated formulations was higher than blended. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of characteristic peaks of entrapped Tramadol hydrochloride showing no drug-polymer interaction. In vitro drug release profile showed sustained release following the Korsmeyer-Peppas kinetic model with an R2 value of 0.9803–0.9966. An acute toxicology study employing the oral route in Swiss albino mice showed no signs of toxicity. It can be inferred from these results that blending PAG with sodium alginate can enhance the stability of alginate microspheres and improve its drug release profile by prolonging the release time.

Herbal industry of developing countries is facing several technical issues related to the extraction conditions in order to attain the maximum yield of a plant extract with maximum therapeutic attributes. Therefore the present study was aimed to investigate the best technique for respective herbal products. The effect of three different extraction techniques: ultrasonic assisted extraction, microwave assisted and orbital shaker assisted extraction, by using three solvents (80% methanol, ethanol, and ethyl acetate) on the antioxidant potential of Caralluma tuberculata stem (non-conventional vegetable) extracts were investigated. Folin-Ciocalteu method was applied on tested samples in order to find the concentration of total phenols. Therefore, the optimized extract of high yield and maximum total phenolic content was selected for further analysis like total flavonoid contents, FRAP, DPPH and ABTS scavenging potential. Quantification of phenolic acids in the extracts was also carried out by HPLC. Significant variation was observed in the yield of total phenols within the extracts, but better results were obtained in aqueous methanolic extract of ultrasonic assisted extraction, followed by microwave assisted and orbital shaker assisted extraction. Present findings supported the view that ultrasonic assisted extraction can be used for phytochemicals profiling, activity guided assays and the development of herbal products. Correlation coefficients of active principles indicated a significant relationship to antioxidant capacity P < 0.05.

Naproxen (NAP) is commonly used for pain, inflammation, and stiffness associated with arthritis. However, systemic administration is linked with several gastrointestinal tract (GIT) side effects. The present work aims to prepare and evaluate NAP nanoparticulate shells of chitosan (CS) and carrageenan (CRG) loaded into a Carbopol 940 (Ca-940) gel system with unique features of sustained drug delivery as well as improved permeation through a topical route. Moreover, this study aims to evaluate its ex vivo, histopathological, and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity in albino Wistar rats. The percentage of ex vivo drug permeation patterns in the optimized formulation (No) was higher (88.66%) than the control gel (36.195%). Oral toxicity studies of developed nanoparticles in albino rabbits showed that the NAP-loaded CS/CRG are non-toxic and, upon histopathological evaluation, no sign of incompatibility was observed compared to the control group. A In Vivo study showed that the optimized gel formulation (No) was more effective than the control gel (Nc) in treating arthritis-associated inflammation. The sustained permeation and the absence of skin irritation make this novel NAP nanoparticle-loaded gel based on CS/CRG a suitable drug delivery system for topical application and has the potential for improved patient compliance and reduced GIT-related side effects in arthritis.
