Abstract

The effect of illumination in the visible spectral range on the magnitude of transverse acoustoelectric effect (TAE) in ZnS/Si structures was studied using a noncontact surface acoustic wave device based on the acoustoelectronic structure with an air gap. ZnS films were obtained using pyrolysis of the chelate organometallic complex, zinc diethyldithiocarbamate, on Si substrates within the temperature range 220 to 260 °C. It has been established that the charge of the adsorption origin on the external surface of the ZnS film strongly influences the photo-processes in the structure under consideration. For the samples with a small surface charge, the value of TAE decreases rapidly with the increase in illumination power due to an increase in the concentration of non-equilibrium carriers. For the samples with a large surface charge, the barrier-trap mechanism of photogeneration is observed, in which the appearance of non-equilibrium carriers is accompanied by their capture and subsequent thermalization. This compensating mechanism explains well both stabilization of the magnitude of TAE by a distributed system of traps with rather large capacitance, and the specific shape of dependence of the TAE magnitude on illumination power. The technique developed by us on the basis of the transverse acoustoelectric effect in the layered piezodielectric / air-gap / semiconductor structure is a powerful tool for noncontact determination of the charge state of film structures, depending on their deposition parameters and various external conditions. 48. Biochemical passivation of metal surfaces for sensor application: reactive annealing of polycrystalline gold films in hydrogen sulfide atmosphere

Abstract

The formation of AuxSy interfacial layer by reactive annealing of gold films in H₂S atmosphere is investigated. This seems to be a technologically favorable technique for the large-scale and low-cost fabrication of nondestructive immobilization support for biological molecules. Formation of phases with different chemical functionality and surface topography as a function of reaction time was studied using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) measurements and biomolecular interaction analysis (trypsin - Soybean Trypsin Inhibitor (STI) reaction). The results obtained confirm the classical two-step model for the sulfide phase formation during reactive annealing. This includes an intermediate formation of a dispersed phase of sulfur followed by its reconstruction to a close-packed sulfide layer. Adsorption of proteins onto a certain sulfide layer passes with retention of a native state of adsorbed molecules. The proposed strategy for formation of biochemical structures (gold/sulfide/proteins) on the surface of physical transducers opens a new way for design and development of novel artificial smart sensing systems. They not only maintain optimal functioning of bioreceptors but also are responsive to their environment.

Abstract

The possibility of the development of the biochemical sensor systems on the base of the films with the controlled level of the spectral selective absorption under the total internal reflection (TIR) conditions. It was demonstrated that porous Al2 O3 films with the Au nanoparticles obtained by the impulse laser deposition are characterize by the presence of the minimum at the angle dependence of the reflectance factor under TIR conditions. The optical model of the sensor system in the limits of the macroscopic Maxwell theory. The effectiveness of the use of introduced transducers was demonstrated on the case of the refractometric measurements and the monitoring of the protein-protein interactions., Розглянуто можливість розробки біохімічних сенсорних систем на основі плівок з контрольованим рівнем спектрально селективного поглинання в умовах повного внутрішнього відбиття (ПВВ). Показано, що пористі плівки Al2 O3 з наночастками Au, отримані імпульсним лазерним осадженням, характеризуються наявністю мінімума на кутовій залежності коефіцієнту відбиття в умовах ПВВ. Проаналізовано оптичну модель сенсорної системи в рамках макроскопічної теорії Максвела. Ефективність використання запропонованих перетворювачів як оптоелектронних сенсорних елементів продемонстрована на прикладі рефрактометричних вимірів і моніторингу білок-білкових взаємодій., Рассмотрена возможность разработки биохимических сенсорных систем на основе пленок с контролируемым уровнем спектрально селективного поглощения в условиях полного внутреннего отражения (ПВО). Показано, что пористые пленки Al2 O3 с наночастицами Au, полученные импульсным лазерным осаждением, характеризуются наличием минимума на угловой зависимости коэффициента отражения в условиях ПВО. Проанализирована оптическая модель сенсорной системы в рамках макроскопической теории Максвелла. Эффективность использования предложенных преобразователей в качестве оптоэлектронных сенсорных элементов продемонстрирована на примере рефрактометрических измерений и мониторинга белок-белковых взаимодействий.
