Abstract

The viscosity of Graphene nano-sheet suspensions (GNS)and its behavior with temperature and concentration have been experimentally determined. A physical mechanism for the enhanced viscosity over the base fluids has been proposed for the poly-dispersed GNSs. Experimental data reveals that enhancement of viscosity for GNSs lie in between that of Carbon Nanotube Suspensions (CNTSs) and nano Alumina suspensions (nAS) , indicating the hybrid mechanism of percolation (like CNTs) and Brownian motion assisted sheet dynamics (like Alumina particles). Sheet dynamics and percolation, along with a proposed percolation Network Dynamicity Factor; have been used to determine a dimensionally consistent analytical model to accurately determine and explain the viscosity of poly-dispersed GNSs. It has been hypothesized that the dynamic sheets behave qualitatively analogous to gas molecules. The model also provides insight into the mechanisms of viscous behavior of different dilute nanoparticle suspensions. The model has been found to be in agreement with the GNS experimental data, and even for CNT and nano Alumina suspensions.

Abstract

The bismuth (Bi)-substituted CuSb1-xBixSe2 chalcostibites were synthesized using the horizontal Bridgman-Stockbarger technique combined with ball milling, at temperatures ranging from 303 to 650 K. The impact of Bi substitution was observed in the thermoelectric transport properties by substituting Bi (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) resulted in a decreased Seebeck coefficient and higher electrical resistivity compared to the pure CuSbSe2 sample. Notably, the higher substitution level (x = 0.6) showed the enhanced properties compared to the lower levels. The pristine sample exhibited a power factor of 550 μWK−2 m−1, while the substituted samples showed the values of 20, 37 and 50 μWK−2 m−1, respectively. However, in accordance with the power factor, the pristine compound demonstrated a higher figure of merit (ZT = 0.47) compared to the existing literature values (ZT = 0.21), indicating the superior thermoelectric performance using this synthesis method. Abstract

Flexible solid-state supercapacitors offer intrinsic fast charging–discharging properties, facilitating the fulfillment of requirements for lightweight and multifunctional wearable electronics. In the present study, PVP/PVA/X wt% of CoMoO4 polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) have been prepared by a solution casting technique. The PNCs were characterized by different analytical tools such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor device (ASC) is fabricated by using PVP/PVA/X wt% CoMoO4 PNCs as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode. Electrochemical characterization of the prepared ASCs devices was performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry, and electrochemical impedance spectral (EIS) analyses. The ASCs device attains a window potential of 1.5 V at chronoamperometry. At 1 A g−1 current density, PVP/PVA/1 wt% CoMoO4 ASCs device achieved specific capacitances of 11.35 F g−1. The ASCs device exhibited an outstanding cycle life with a capacitance retention of 74% after 10,000 charge/discharge cycles, a maximum energy density of 3.54 Wh kg−1, and a power density of 734 W kg−1. The EIS shows a small semicircle before and after GCD 10,000 cycles, which indicates the electrolyte has high conductivity and low internal resistance in the ASC device. It also indicates that the PVP/PVA/1 wt% CoMoO4 PNCs have potential applications as cathodic electrode for energy storage devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
