The ability of Geographic Information System (GIS) to organize, analyze, visualize and integrate spatial data has been at the top of its primary uses among professional industries. However, considering the extensive adoption of Information System (IS) throughout history for government organizations’ or citizens' disaster response, the implementation of geographical elements is still minimal. Previous GIS models and framework studies, particularly in developing countries, were affected by pandemic pressure, competitiveness pressure, change management, and security factors. Thus, this study aims to develop a model for the successful adoption of GIS using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and De Lone and Mc Lean Information Success Model and analyze the applicability of the existing factors to enhance the performance of Public Sector Organizations (PSOs). From the study, a new conceptual framework was proposed to examine the effects of factors on GIS adoption that impact performance among PSOs from the perspective of Saudi Arabia. Quantitative methods were used to collect data through a questionnaire distributed to 350 respondents from PSO, and only 272 were found to be valid. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) validated the GIS model. The finding revealed that system quality, service quality, change management, competitiveness pressure, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and security factors significantly and positively affected GIS adoption. The study also showed that GIS adoption substantially affected PSO performance. The proposed model provides insight into how GIS adoption can eventually enhance performance among PSOs. In essence, the study contributes to the running of PSO and the decisions taken by policymakers.

IntroductionGlobal Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is still one of the leading causes of death and requires the enhancement of diagnostic methods for the effective detection of early signs and prediction of the disease outcomes. The current diagnostic tools are cumbersome and imprecise especially with complex diseases, thus emphasizing the incorporation of new machine learning applications in differential diagnosis.MethodsThis paper presents a new machine learning approach that uses MICE for mitigating missing data, the IQR for handling outliers and SMOTE to address first imbalance distance. Additionally, to select optimal features, we introduce the Hybrid 2-Tier Grasshopper Optimization with L2 regularization methodology which we call GOL2-2T. One of the promising methods to improve the predictive modelling is an Adaboost decision fusion (ABDF) ensemble learning algorithm with babysitting technique implemented for the hyperparameters tuning. The accuracy, recall, and AUC score will be considered as the measures for assessing the model.ResultsOn the results, our heart disease prediction model yielded an accuracy of 83.0%, and a balanced F1 score of 84.0%. The integration of SMOTE, IQR outlier detection, MICE, and GOL2-2T feature selection enhances robustness while improving the predictive performance. ABDF removed the impurities in the model and elaborated its effectiveness, which proved to be high on predicting the heart disease.DiscussionThese findings demonstrate the effectiveness of additional machine learning methodologies in medical diagnostics, including early recognition improvements and trustworthy tools for clinicians. But yes, the model’s use and extent of work depends on the dataset used for it really. Further work is needed to replicate the model across different datasets and samples: as for most models, it will be important to see if the results are generalizable to populations that are not representative of the patient population that was used for the current study.

BackgroundThe enormous consequences of drugs include suicides, traffic accidents, and violence, affecting the individual, family, society, and country. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly identify and monitor the drug abuse rate among school-going youth. A geospatial dashboard is vital for the monitoring of drug abuse and related crime incidence in a decision support system. ObjectiveThis paper mainly focuses on developing MyAsriGeo, a geospatial drug abuse risk assessment and monitoring dashboard tailored for school students. It introduces innovative functionality, seamlessly orchestrating the assessment of drug abuse usage patterns and risks using multivariate student data. MethodsA geospatial drug abuse dashboard for monitoring and analysis was designed and developed in this study based on agile methodology and prototyping. Using focus group and interviews, we first examined and gathered the requirements, feedback, and user approval of the MyAsriGeo dashboard. Experts and stakeholders such as the National Anti-Drugs Agency, police, the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning, school instructors, students, and researchers were among those who responded. A total of 20 specialists were involved in the requirement analysis and acceptance evaluation of the pilot and final version of the dashboard. The evaluation sought to identify various user acceptance aspects, such as ease of use and usefulness, for both the pilot and final versions, and 2 additional factors based on the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire and Task-Technology Fit models were enlisted to assess the interface quality and dashboard sufficiency for the final version. ResultsThe MyAsriGeo geospatial dashboard was designed to meet the needs of all user types, as identified through a requirement gathering process. It includes several key functions, such as a geospatial map that shows the locations of high-risk areas for drug abuse, data on drug abuse among students, tools for assessing the risk of drug abuse in different areas, demographic information, and a self-problem test. It also includes the Alcohol, Smoking, and Substance Involvement Screening Test and its risk assessment to help users understand and interpret the results of student risk. The initial prototype and final version of the dashboard were evaluated by 20 experts, which revealed a significant improvement in the ease of use (P=.047) and usefulness (P=.02) factors and showed a high acceptance mean scores for ease of use (4.2), usefulness (4.46), interface quality (4.29), and sufficiency (4.13). ConclusionsThe MyAsriGeo geospatial dashboard is useful for monitoring and analyzing drug abuse among school-going youth in Malaysia. It was developed based on the needs of various stakeholders and includes a range of functions. The dashboard was evaluated by a group of experts. Overall, the MyAsriGeo geospatial dashboard is a valuable resource for helping stakeholders understand and respond to the issue of drug abuse among youth.

Smart grid system is evident with control technologies and digital communications systems. The cyber–physical system is a critical infrastructure connected with complex drives and devices. The modern smart grid’s prominent communication standard adopts high scalability, supports numerous communication devices’ input/outputs, and has multi-vendor interoperability. Cyber-attack leads to an unstable power grid system and enormous economic loss. Throughout different cyber-attack, distributed denial of service attack is mostly destructive to smart grid infrastructure. This paper investigates smart grid cyber security systems and the communication vulnerabilities of other communication protocols. A comprehensive study on distributed denial of service attack techniques and detection approaches is present. Finally, examine a new hybrid machine learning-based distributed denial of service attack detection technique for a sustainable smart grid system.

One of the big challenges of our modern life is to find the right items or contents on the Internet and particularly in social media. One way of addressing the information overload problem in social media is to predict the future trends and popularity of online items. The popularity of an item can be measured by its attractiveness, i.e., the number of times it is being used. This popularity prediction can be translated to a link prediction and ranking problem, which aims to predict the link gain of the items in a user-item interaction network. User-item interactions in an online environment can be modelled as a bipartite network, where a link represents an event, reflecting a user buys or collects an item. Popularity prediction problem in temporal bipartite networks is of great interest to researchers. In this study, we propose a heuristic based model which only consider nodes collective link gain in a recent past time window of time as well as total link gain. To evaluate our model’s efficiency, we tested them on co-evolving social media items. We also evaluated the models’ performance on five information retrieval metrics (i.e., Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic, Kendall’s rank correlation tau, Precision, Novelty, and temporal novelty). The proposed model does not need hyper-parameter learning, which makes it the best choice for highly temporal and data streaming scenarios.

The rise of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the increasing reliance on the digital economy drive the need for a new set of skills, especially in robotics learning, that includes computational thinking (CT) and adversarial thinking (AT) for the young generation. The need for CT-related skills includes various fields, such as robotics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, music, arts, and humanities. Therefore, adopting robotic learning with CT and AT can enhance learning skills over the conventional learning model. This paper presents a systematic literature review on CT and AT practices in robotics learning to improve educational methods. This study conducts a systematic literature review from four databases: ACM, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and ScienceDirect. Sixty-five studies in robotics learning to increase CT and AT skills were analyzed by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study’s findings show that CT and AT are significant in training students to engage in robotics learning activities. These considerations will lead to strengthening their skill and critical thinking. The study also suggests that integrating these skills can prepare teachers for critical thinking and boost student learning. The findings suggest that CT and AT can directly adopt digital adversarial learning skills to improve overall robotics learning activities. For future studies, the difference in learning ages related to robotics activities with CT and AT applications can be studied to deeply comprehend the effectiveness of CT and AT applications.

One of the key goals of Informetrics is to identify citation-based popular articles among so many other aspects, such as determining popular research topics, identifying influential scholars, and predicting hot trends in science. These can be achieved by applying network science approaches to scientific networks and formulating the problem as a popular (most-cited) node ranking task. To rank the papers based on their future citation gain. In this work a deep learning based framework is proposed. Which helps in automatic node level feature extraction and can make node level prediction in dynamic graphs such as citation networks. To achieve this we have learned global ranking preserve d dimensional node embedding. We have only considered temporal features, which makes it suitable for generalisation to other networks. Although our model can consider node level explicit features also. Further we have given novel cost function which can be easily solve ranking problem for dynamic graphs using probabilistic regression method. Which can be easily optimised. Another novelty of our work is that our model can be trained using different snapshots of the graph and different time. Further trained model can be used to make future prediction. The proposed model has been tested on an arXiv paper citation network using six standard information retrieval-based metrics. The results show that our proposed model outperforms, on average, other state-of-the-art static models as well as dynamic node ranking models. The outcome of this research study leads to informed data-driven decision-making in science, such as the allocation and distribution of research funds and investment in strategic research centers. When considering past time window size as 10 months and making prediction after 10 months our proposed model’s performance on various ranking based evaluation metrics are as follows: AUC-0.974, Kendal’s rank correlation tau-0.455, Precision- 0.643, Novelty-0.0456, Temporal novelty-0.375 and on NDCG-0.949. Our model is able to make long term trend prediction with just training on short time window.

Electronic Health monitoring system has performed an essential role in managing healthcare monitoring. E-health can provide effective and valuable facilities for the patients to monitor. Though, there are protection disputes in the current E-Health system. The current e-health system, on the other hand, has security issues. Malevolent doctors may work together with cloud Storage Service Providers (CSPs) to interfere with patients' electronic health records (EHRs) or promptly leak EHR matter to other enemies for income. (EHRs). The malevolent doctors may conspire with the Patient Healthcare Monitoring Service Provider (PHMSP) to manipulate with the patients'. For profit, EHRs or directly divulge the EHR content of EHRs to other opponents. Block-chain has recently appeared as one of the most powerful methods in the protection and secrecy fields. It is assumed to be the promised security approach that will eventually replace the security challenges in existing e-health monitoring systems. Encryption in blockchain refers to technical methods that make accessing encrypted data difficult for unauthorized resources. This research proposed a blockchain-based encryption framework to provide security-based solutions using a computational intelligence methodology. The proposed approach provides better results in terms of 0.93 in the training phase and 0.91 in the validation accuracy.

In Malaysia, vehicle recognition system (VRS) such as vehicle plate recognition and counting, is rapidly growing and applied in many areas such as to identify vehicle identities for the law enforcement by authorities and electronic toll collection by highway agencies. Uncovering the region of interest in chaotic illumination environment at free flow road makes localizing license plate is critical process of VRS. Available edge vertical projection claimed to be robust to illumination, however, it tends to create false edges and sensitive to noises that can hinder the recognition performance. Thus, this research aims to propose a license plate localization method that based on exploitable edge analysis.comprising four main steps, namely pre-processing, rectangular blob searching, analysis and the vertical rectangular blobs projection. It calculates total and exploit edge information at y axis of the image. The proposed method is then tested on the European number plate datasets i.e. Baza Slika which contains about 167 vehicle images and Ondrej which contains about 97 vehicle images. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the Ondrej method by obtaining accuracy of 95% on Baza Slika dataset and slightly lower by an accuracy of 91% on the Ondrej dataset. Then, the proposed method tested on the Malaysia vehicle dataset namely Tol Sungai Long data set which contains about 584 images of different illumination conditions, i.e. 297 images in the morning, 140 images in the afternoon and 147 images in the night. The proposed method outperforms other approaches with accuracy of 91.24%, 93.57% and 75.51% in the morning, evening and night respectively.

Information technology expressively improves remote electricity measurement and monitoring. Integrating Dynamic Thermal Current Rating (DTCR) software packs with the exclusive phasor measurement-based Wide Area Measurement (WAM) framework, the remote Transmission Lines (TLs) current rating can be measured. WAM is used for data acquisition from different sensors, and also allows data transmissions and processing for which sensor cloud system (SCS) plays a vital role. DTCR with phasor-measurement based WAM framework is mainly used to analyze and determine the current ratings of overhead TLs using weather condition estimation or prediction methods. However, the recent study suggests that the accuracy of the DTCR has become an issue in the smart grid of Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB). Hence, this article studies and discusses the relevant models and systems, and then proposes an improved thermal pi (π) model for the transmission line thermal model of DTCR software in WAM Framework. The performance of the improved π model will be distinguished from the existing thermal model. The weather factors that bring a substantial impact on the current rating is also considered, where the relevant data is monitored via different weather sensors. Besides, this study also focuses on calibrating the DTCR through phasor measurement in the WAM system, as well as the field measured data. All the data is collected from relevant sensors, and a detailed comparative analysis is provided based on the proposed model for the sake of improving the reliability of the system. The performance analysis of the thermal models is evaluated using Matlab software-based numerical analysis.

Steganography algorithms hide the secret message in the cover image and provide imperceptibility to the attacker. The Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm is the preferred data hiding method. In this method, the least significant bit of the cover image pixel is substituted with the secret data bit. However, this method provides high variability if k-LSB bits of the cover image is replaced with secret data bit. To reduce the variability, various optimization algorithms are deployed in image steganography. These algorithms search the optimal pixels in the cover image, and data hiding is performed using the k-bits LSB method. Several iterations of optimization algorithms have increased the time complexity upon achieving this goal. Therefore, in this paper, a data hiding approach is designed based on the flipping approach that reduces variability and provides lesser time complexity. In the proposed method, initially, data hiding is performed using the k-bit LSB method in the cover image, and stego image is obtained. After that, the absolute difference between the cover and stego image is determined and compared with the threshold value. If the absolute difference is higher than the threshold value, then the adjacent bit of the k-bit LSB method is flipped. This process reduces the variability because flipping the adjacent bit will make the pixel value of the stego image closer to the cover image. The simulation evaluates using various performance metrics upon testing on standard dataset images. The simulation results show that the proposed method provides lesser variability, good visual quality, lesser time complexity than Genetic and Bayesian Optimization algorithms and the existing flip method.

BackgroundGlaucoma leads to irreversible blindness. Globally, it is the second most common retinal disease that leads to blindness, slightly less common than cataracts. Therefore, there is a great need to avoid the silent growth of this disease using recently developed generative adversarial networks (GANs). ObjectiveThis paper aims to introduce a GAN technology for the diagnosis of eye disorders, particularly glaucoma. This paper illustrates deep adversarial learning as a potential diagnostic tool and the challenges involved in its implementation. This study describes and analyzes many of the pitfalls and problems that researchers will need to overcome to implement this kind of technology. MethodsTo organize this review comprehensively, articles and reviews were collected using the following keywords: (“Glaucoma,” “optic disc,” “blood vessels”) and (“receptive field,” “loss function,” “GAN,” “Generative Adversarial Network,” “Deep learning,” “CNN,” “convolutional neural network” OR encoder). The records were identified from 5 highly reputed databases: IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and PubMed. These libraries broadly cover the technical and medical literature. Publications within the last 5 years, specifically 2015-2020, were included because the target GAN technique was invented only in 2014 and the publishing date of the collected papers was not earlier than 2016. Duplicate records were removed, and irrelevant titles and abstracts were excluded. In addition, we excluded papers that used optical coherence tomography and visual field images, except for those with 2D images. A large-scale systematic analysis was performed, and then a summarized taxonomy was generated. Furthermore, the results of the collected articles were summarized and a visual representation of the results was presented on a T-shaped matrix diagram. This study was conducted between March 2020 and November 2020. ResultsWe found 59 articles after conducting a comprehensive survey of the literature. Among the 59 articles, 30 present actual attempts to synthesize images and provide accurate segmentation/classification using single/multiple landmarks or share certain experiences. The other 29 articles discuss the recent advances in GANs, do practical experiments, and contain analytical studies of retinal disease. ConclusionsRecent deep learning techniques, namely GANs, have shown encouraging performance in retinal disease detection. Although this methodology involves an extensive computing budget and optimization process, it saturates the greedy nature of deep learning techniques by synthesizing images and solves major medical issues. This paper contributes to this research field by offering a thorough analysis of existing works, highlighting current limitations, and suggesting alternatives to support other researchers and participants in further improving and strengthening future work. Finally, new directions for this research have been identified.

Load forecasting is a vital part of smart grids for predicting the required electrical power using artificial intelligence (AI). Deep learning is broadly used for load forecasting in the smart grid using the artificial neural network (ANN). Generally, computing the deep learning in the smart grid requires massive data aggregation or centralization and significant computational time. This paper presents a survey of deep learning-based load forecasting techniques from 2015 to 2020. This survey discusses the studies based on their deep learning techniques, Distributed Deep Learning (DDL) techniques, Back Propagation (BP) based works, and non-BP based works in the load forecasting process. Consequent to the survey, it was determined that data aggregation dependency would be beneficial for reducing computational time in load forecasting. Therefore, a conceptual model of DDL for smart grids has been presented, where the HSIC (Hilbert-Schmidt Independence Criterion) Bottleneck technique has been incorporated to provide higher accuracy.

In the criminology area, to detain the serial criminal, the forthcoming serial crime time, distance, and criminal's biography are essential keys. The main concern of this study is on the upcoming serial crime distance, time, and suspect biographies such as age and nationality. In conjunction with having time delays, the dynamic classifier, like Time Delay Neural Network (TDNN) utilized to perform nonlinear techniques-based predictions. The TDNN classifier system, like Back Propagation Through Time (BPTT) and Nonlinear Autoregressive with Exogenous Input (NARX) are two prominent examples. However, BPTT and NARX techniques are unable to identify the dynamic system by using single-activation functions due to producing lower accuracy. Hence, during the training phase, the direct minimization of the TDNN error can further enhance the single activation function. Thus, this work introduces an enhanced NARX (eNARX) model based on the proposed activation functions of SiRBF via fusion of two functions of the hyperbolic tangent (Tansig) and Radial Basis Function (RBF), in the same hidden layer. If a fusion of activation functions can affect the TDNN error minimization, then fusing of the Tansig and RBF functions can produce a precise prediction for crime spatiotemporal. To evaluate the proposed technique and compared it with existing NARX and BPTT, we utilized five time-series datasets, namely, Dow Jones Index, Monthly River flow in cubic meters per second, Daily temperature, and UKM-PDRM datasets namely, “Suspect & Capture” and “Crime Plotting.” The analysis of the results demonstrated that the proposed eNARX produce higher accuracy in comparison to other techniques of NARX and BPTT. Consequently, the proposed technique provides more effective results for the prediction of commercial serial crime

As some of the objective functions are piecewise, so they are non-differentiable at specific points which have a significant impact on deep network rate and computational time. The non-differentiability issue increases the computational time dramatically. This issue is solved by the reformulation of the absolute value equation (AVE) through a parametrized single smooth equation. However, utilizing a single smoothing function is less effective to produce a better curve at the breaking points. Therefore, this work formulates a new smoothing function of Aggregation Fischer Burmister (AFB) via amalgamating of two popular smoothing functions: Aggregation (AGG) and Fischer-Burmeister (FB). These functions are having the ability of minimum estimation from both sides of the canonical piecewise function (CPF). If an amalgamation of smoothing functions can affect the differentiability of the piecewise objective function, then amalgamating the AGG and FB smoothing functions will produce a smooth secant line slope on both sides with less computational time. To evaluate the proposed technique, we implement a Newton algorithm using MATLAB, with random initial values. A new smoothing function is formulated by firstly converting the piecewise objective function to CPF. Then, we applied it to the Newton algorithm. Finally, to validate the AVE difficulty of the new piecewise function, we perform one run for each initial value, and 30 runs for time evaluation. The experimental analysis verified that the proposed technique outperformed other techniques of AGG and FB individually in terms of the natural logarithm, exponential, and square root. Hence, this novel technique yields promising smooth approximation for AVE with less computational time.

Offline Character segmentation of text images is an important step in many document image analysis and recognition (DIAR) applications. However, the character segmentation of both writing styles (printed and handwritten) remains an open problem. Moreover, the manual segmentation is time-consuming and impractical for large numbers of documents. Based on the unconstraint-cursive handwritten perspective, the auto character segmentation is more challenging and complex. The Arabic script writing style suffers from many common problems, such as sub-words overlapping, characters overlapping, and missed characters. These challenging issues have attracted the attention of researchers in the field of DIAR for Arabic character segmentation. The proposed method combines a new advanced Stroke Labelling based on Direction Features (SLDF2) technique and a modified vertical projection histogram (MVPH) technique. This technique extracts the relationship between each text stroke pixel and its 8 neighboring foreground pixels and labels it with the proper value before identify the possible segmentation points. The text preparation for the segmentation process was achieved using multiple preprocessing steps and developing an advanced stroke labelling technique based on direction features. Several Arabic language structural-rules were made to detect the candidate segmentation points (CSP), detect many character overlapping cases, solve the missed characters problem that appears as a result of using the text skeleton in VPH, and validate the CSP. All techniques and methods are tested on the ACDAR benchmark database. The validation method used to measure segmentation accuracy was a quantitative analysis that includes Recall, Precision, and F-measurement tests. The average accuracy of the proposed segmentation method was 92.44%, which outperforms the state-of-the-art method.

The steganography is prone to number of attacks such as geomatical, salt & pepper, gaussian, median filtering, attacks. To overcome these problems, the cryptography and error correction codes are comes in the pictures and hybrid with steganography algorithms. The cryptography algorithms add one layer of security on steganography algorithms and error correction codes improves the robustness of steganography algorithms. On the other side, the hybridization of the algorithms, increase memory complexity and increase computation time for data embedding. Thus, in this paper a review on multi-layer algorithms for video steganography is done. This paper comprehensively reviews the steganography, spatial and frequency domain techniques hybrid with cryptography and error correction techniques. In-depth analysis on published literatures revealed that the spatial domain techniques require shorter computation time for data embedding and provide higher data hiding capacity than frequency domain methods. Performance of such techniques was evaluated in terms of visual quality and robustness parameters. Present challenges and future trends towards the improvement of the multi-layer data security in video steganography are discussed to provide the taxonomy for further navigation.

Adolescents are susceptible to negative influences and activities via social media, surroundings and peers. Cyberbullying, dangerous online games, accessible pornographic content are some examples of negativities which adolescents tend to be drawn into, either knowing or unknowingly, without giving much thought to the consequences of their actions/engagements. To address this, a self-empowerment program has been developed and tailored for school teens. This program covers faith, positivity, social relationship, role-modeling and self-reflection. A total of 219 teenagers aged between 12 to 17 years old participated in this study. 61 out of the 219 teens formed the control group. Adolescents under the control group did not participate in the self-empowerment program whilst the rest of the 158 teens underwent the program. A survey was carried out to both the control and non-control groups of teenagers to measure the acceptance and the projected impact on the teens who participated in the program. Overall, positive responses were recorded with an average score of 5.10/6.00 for the non-control groups and 4.81/6.00 for the control group.

Text normalization is an important technique in document image analysis and recognition. It consists of many preprocessing stages, which include slope correction, text padding, skew correction, and straight the writing line. In this side, text normalization has an important role in many procedures such as text segmentation, feature extraction and characters recognition. In the present article, a new method for text baseline detection, straightening, and slant correction for Arabic handwritten texts is proposed. The method comprises a set of sequential steps: first components segmentation is done followed by components text thinning; then, the direction features of the skeletons are extracted, and the candidate baseline regions are determined. After that, selection of the correct baseline region is done, and finally, the baselines of all components are aligned with the writing line. The experiments are conducted on IFN/ENIT benchmark Arabic dataset. The results show that the proposed method has a promising and encouraging performance.

Skeletonization “also known as thinning” is an important step in the pre-processing phase in many of pattern recognition techniques. The output of Skeletonization process is the skeleton of the pattern in the images. Skeletonization is a crucial process for many applications such as OCR and writer identification. However, the improvements in this area are only a recent phenomenon and still require more researches. In this paper, a new skeletonization algorithm is proposed. This algorithm combines between parallel and sequential, which is categorized under an iterative approach. The suggested method is conducted by experiments of benchmark dataset for evaluation. The outcome is to obtain much better results compared to other thinning methods that are discussed in comparison part.

In video surveillance scheme, counting individuals is regarded as a crucial task. Of all the individual counting techniques in existence, the regression technique can offer enhanced performance under overcrowded area. However, this technique is unable to specify the details of counting individual such that it fails in locating the individual. On contrary, the density map approach is very effective to overcome the counting problems in various situations such as heavy overlapping and low resolution. Nevertheless, this approach may break down in cases when only the heads of individuals appear in video scenes, and it is also restricted to the feature’s types. The popular technique to obtain the pertinent information automatically is Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). However, the CNN based counting scheme is unable to sufficiently tackle three difficulties, namely, distributions of non-uniform density, changes of scale and variation of drastic scale. In this study, we cater a review on current counting techniques which are in correlation with deep net in different applications of crowded scene. The goal of this work is to specify the effectiveness of CNN applied on popular individuals counting approaches for attaining higher precision results.

Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), also known as concurrent mapping and localization (CML), is an important topic or robotics files. This method produces a real-time map of an environment and finds the current position of a robot on that map. This method is generally used to solve the problem of �Where am I?� for localization, �Where do I go?� for goal determination, and �How do I go there?� for robot motion planning. Recently, the number of studies in this area has increased rapidly and expanded to different areas. In this paper analyzes SLAM or CML, which is currently a hot topic in the field of robotic research. In addition, this paper describes methods for solving SLAM problems, presents evaluation methods for SLAM, analyzes recent research on SLAM worldwide, and studies the academic importance of SLAM. This paper also reviews the use of SLAM for humanoid robots and aims to address the issue of the significance of SLAM engine in the future of stereo vision on humanoid robots.

Many real-world optimization problems are actually of dynamic nature. These problems change over time in terms of the objective function, decision variables, constraints, and so forth. Therefore, it is very important to study the performance of a metaheuristic algorithm in dynamic environments to assess the robustness of the algorithm to deal with real-word problems. In addition, it is important to adapt the existing metaheuristic algorithms to perform well in dynamic environments. This paper investigates a recently proposed version of Bees Algorithm, which is called Patch-Levy-based Bees Algorithm (PLBA), on solving dynamic problems, and adapts it to deal with such problems. The performance of the PLBA is compared with other BA versions and other state-of-the-art algorithms on a set of dynamic multimodal benchmark problems of different degrees of difficulties. The results of the experiments show that PLBA achieves better results than the other BA variants. The obtained results also indicate that PLBA significantly outperforms some of the other state-of-the-art algorithms and is competitive with others.

Active appearance model (AAM) is one of the most popular model-based approaches that have been extensively used to extract features by highly accurate modeling of human faces under various physical and environmental circumstances. However, in such active appearance model, fitting the model with original image is a challenging task. State of the art shows that optimization method is applicable to resolve this problem. However, another common problem is applying optimization. Hence, in this paper we propose an AAM based face recognition technique, which is capable of resolving the fitting problem of AAM by introducing a new adaptive ABC algorithm. The adaptation increases the efficiency of fitting as against the conventional ABC algorithm. We have used three datasets: CASIA dataset, property 2.5D face dataset, and UBIRIS v1 images dataset in our experiments. The results have revealed that the proposed face recognition technique has performed effectively, in terms of accuracy of face recognition.

Existing face recognition methods utilize particle swarm optimizer (PSO) and opposition based particle swarm optimizer (OPSO) to optimize the parameters of SVM. However, the utilization of random values in the velocity calculation decreases the performance of these techniques; that is, during the velocity computation, we normally use random values for the acceleration coefficients and this creates randomness in the solution. To address this problem, an adaptive acceleration particle swarm optimization (AAPSO) technique is proposed. To evaluate our proposed method, we employ both face and iris recognition based on AAPSO with SVM (AAPSO-SVM). In the face and iris recognition systems, performance is evaluated using two human face databases, YALE and CASIA, and the UBiris dataset. In this method, we initially perform feature extraction and then recognition on the extracted features. In the recognition process, the extracted features are used for SVM training and testing. During the training and testing, the SVM parameters are optimized with the AAPSO technique, and in AAPSO, the acceleration coefficients are computed using the particle fitness values. The parameters in SVM, which are optimized by AAPSO, perform efficiently for both face and iris recognition. A comparative analysis between our proposed AAPSO-SVM and the PSO-SVM technique is presented.
