Presents a study which shows the trends that might be expected in retention aid performance for various retention aid systems with increasing system closure in mechanical printing grade mills. Effects of system closure on retention aid performance; Number of retention and drainage aid systems examined; Observation on the degree of system closure in terms of fresh process water make-up to the mill.
