In this present study explores the multifunctional potential of ZnO@CA/PCL nanocomposites, delving into their efficacy in wastewater treatment and exhibiting promising in vitro anticancer activity. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by Scanning SEM, TGA, XRD, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results of an invitro anticancer activity showed the significant cytotoxic effect of ZnO nanoparticles on the ACHN renal cancer cell line. The photocatalytic activity of ZnO@CA/PCL nanocomposites were evaluated by monitoring the degradation of congo red (CR) and rhodamine-B (RhB) dyes under UV illumination. The degradation efficacy of the rhodamine-B (90%) was higher than that of the congo red dye (80%) after 60 min of irradiation under UV light.

Nanotechnology is an embryonic field that grips countless impacts on the drug delivery system. Nanoparticles as haulers increase the capability of target-specific drug delivery to many folds hence are used in the treatment of dreadful diseases such as cancer, diabetes, etc. This boom has aimed at, to synthesize Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) using Acalypha Indica leaf extract and then incorporated with graphene oxide (GO) to form GO-CuO nanocomposites. Secondly, to sightsee the photocatalytic activity of CuO-NPs and GO-CuO nanocomposites towards the decolorization of methylene blue-dye and to test its activity against HCT-116 Human colon cancer cell lines. Synthesized nanocomposites were characterized using FTIR, UV–vis, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The photocatalytic studies revealed that synthesized nanocomposites have the efficiency to degrade methylene blue dye by 83.20% and cytotoxic activity was found to be 70% against HCT-116 Human colon cancer cell lines at 100 μg/ml. GO-CuO nanocomposites have appreciable activity towards cancer cell lines and photocatalytic activity when compared to nanoparticles as such.

The objective of this work was to advance implantable Ruthenium complexes incorporated polycaprolactone (PCL-Ru) electrospun nanofibers, which might hold great potential for cancer diagnosis. Ruthenium complex was infused into biodegradable PCL nanofibers by the electrospinning method and was characterized for their structural and surface morphology using FESEM, HRTEM, and XRD. The chemical analysis was performed through FTIR and UV–Vis. The mechanical strength and thermal behavior of the electrospun nanofibrous have been examined in this study. The average diameter of pristine PCL and PCL-Ru nanofibers was 617.91 ± 165 nm and 426.77 ± 14 nm. The in vitro anticancer activity of Ru-complexes infused PCL nanofibers was assessed against liver (Hep-G2), oral cancer (HSC-3), renal cell carcinomas (ACHN), and lung (L-132) cancer cell lines, as well as the release profile of the Ru-complexes, infused PCL nanofibers. According to the results, Ru-complexes containing PCL may be easily infused into nanofibers and have a very uniform distribution inside them. More significantly, the Ru-complexes produced by the blended nanofibers can be released for an extended of period time, resulting in significant anticancer efficacy in vitro.

The in vitro antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant activities of a few plant extracts were widely known for decades, and they were used for application in the conventional way. Specifically, electrospun nanofibrous mats have recently exhibited great antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant activities. The herbal extracts infused into these formations are expected to have a more efficient and integrated effect on in vitro biological applications. The purpose of this study is to develop polycaprolactone- (PCL-) based nanofiber mats that are infused with a traditional plant extract using Clerodendrum phlomidis leaves to improve the synthesized nanofibers’ antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant efficacy. This study examined the morphology, thermal properties, mechanical properties, structure, and in vitro drug release studies of electrospun nanofibers. Antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant activities of the electrospun nanofibrous mats were also studied. The HRTEM and FESEM pictures of PCL and PCL-CPM nanofibers provide that smooth, defect-free, and homogeneous nanofibers were found to be 602.08 ± 75 nm and 414.15 ± 82 nm for PCL and PCL-CPM nanofibers, respectively. The presence of Clerodendrum phlomidis extract in the electrospun nanofibers was approved by UV-visible and FTIR spectroscopy. The incorporation of Clerodendrum phlomidis extract to nanofiber mats resulted in substantial antibacterial activity against bacterial cells. PCL-CPM mats exposed to oral cancer (HSC-3) and renal cell carcinoma (ACHN) cell lines displayed promising anticancer activity with less than 50% survival rate after 24 h of incubation. 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay performed on PCL-CPM nanofibers revealed the antioxidant scavenging activity with maximum inhibition of 34% suggesting the role of the secondary metabolites release from scaffold. As a result, the findings of this study revealed that Clerodendrum phlomidis extract encapsulating PCL electrospun nanofibers has a high potential for usage as a biobased antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant agent.

In this study, we synthesized CeVO 4 /ZnO nanoheterojunction photocatalyst through hydrothermal-precipitation method. The prepared photocatalyst was characterized by Fourier transform infrared analysis (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) with elemental color mapping (ECM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) with selected area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern, UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (UV-vis-DRS), BET, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The BET surface area of CeVO 4 /ZnO is 10.50 m 2 /g. The photocatalytic activity of CeVO 4 /ZnO nanoheterojunction under solar light was investigated for the degradation of Reactive Orange 4 (RO 4). CeVO 4 /ZnO has been found to be more effective for mineralization of RO 4 than the prepared ZnO at neutral pH. The addition of TBA ( • OH scavenger) contributes a significant decrease in the photodegradation efficiently of the catalyst. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) measurements confirmed the complete mineralization of RO 4. In addition, it found that the photocatalyst was stable and reusable. Graphical abstract.
