- Abstract
This article presents the tools that enable us to conduct treatments for patients with a psychosis. Lacan developed these tools throughout his seminars and written texts. All of them, reported here, have retained their relevance, but the Borromean clinic has opened up new perspectives on how to support our patients in the construction of a know-how with the real. - Abstract
Far from confining himself to the phenomenological description of cases in order to give an account of the clinic, Lacan turned to topological writing. This text reviews some of the stages in Lacan's work in progress, in particular the transition from the topology of the graph of desire to that of the Borromean knot. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In some contemporary psychoanalytic theories, a thesis has emerged according to which gender transition can constitute a sinthome. But gender remains a much-discussed notion in Lacanian psychoanalysis, especially in France. This article contributes to the debate by questioning the notion of femininity since it seems to be an essential point in how gender studies and Lacanian sexuation theory diverge. First, we clarify the Lacanian notion of femininity and its conceptual link to the notion of sinthome. Then, we discuss the clinical case of a transgender woman for whom the question of femininity was central during her transition. Finally, we argue how gender transition might function as a sinthome and the limits to such an understanding.

Although literary geography has become an established subfield, to date, there are no in-depth geographical studies on literary groups that gather to celebrate a specific author and/or genre. To address this lacuna, my paper investigates Vancouver's official Sherlock Holmes society, The Stormy Petrels of British Columbia (hereafter Petrels). Drawing on the methods of participant observation and semi-structured interviews, as well as Jacques Lacan's concept of 'le sinthome' (hereafter sinthome), which defines how creative modes of (un)conscious enjoyment knot together psychical and social space, I explore three ways through which the Petrels' enjoyment of Sherlock Holmes gives consistency to their individual and collective lives: first, through 'nomination' wherein the Petrels identify with Sherlockian characters and make names for themselves; second, through what Lacan refers to as 'lalangue,' that is, enigmatic meanings produced by the musical flows and babbles of speech; and third, through the surplus accumulation of memorabilia, what I call 'sintholmes,' which hold a powerful attraction as sublime objects of Sherlockiana. The article concludes by considering the political dimensions of the sinthome in terms of the changes in the Petrels' demographics and the wider context of Sherlock Holmes fandom. This work proposes to carry out a systematic review of the different considerations on the subject of creation in Lacan's teaching, in order to describe the approaches proposed in psychoanalysis and its methodological perspectives. The systematic review, according to the PRISMA Declaration, is carried out in May 2022 and ten scientific articles are selected from five databases that refer to publications in Spanish between 2022-2018, where it is concluded about the similarities and differences in the approaches to the subject from psychoanalysis, highlighting the function and meaning of an unprecedented capacity for invention and the creation of particular solutions, outside the norms. Drawing on Jacques Lacan's discourse of the capitalist and recent discussions on the sinthome, this thesis offers an art-historical and critical account of the prominence acquired by the figure of the doll in European and American visual culture since 1989. A paradigmatic figure of the historical avant-gardes, and of Surrealist photography in particular, the life-size doll has been typically associated to the Freudian uncanny as return of the repressed and its connections to castration and lack. This thesis argues that this theoretical framework has become inadequate, both to account for the aesthetic and formal qualities of the contemporary forms of the doll, and to relate to the new subjective structures of the current discourse of civilisation. The thesis discusses recent photographic and cinematic works that can be seen to register an aesthetic and psychological shift in the way the life-size doll is put at work. There are case studies on Olivier Rebufa's photographic series Bimbeloterie (1989-2016), Stephan Gladieu's photographic documentary Silicone Love (2009), about the life of men living with sex dolls, Laurie Simmons's large-scale, pictorial photographic project The Love Doll (2009-11) and Lars and the Real Girl (2007, Gillespie), featuring a life-size doll as a non-human actor. Articulating psychoanalytic aesthetic theory with a cultural history of dolls, I start this project through an analysis of the modernist treatment of inanimate human replicas, mapping its traditional theoretical links to the notions of mimicry, the informe, the uncanny, the punctum and the (Lacanian) picture as field of the gaze. Working through a consideration of the historicity of the unconscious and of the particular organisation of jouissance within the discourse of the capitalist, in the subsequent chapters I offer close formal analyses of works that explore the figure of the doll in its implications with a condition of visuality and a structure of subjectivity unconcerned with lack and desire. The heightened hybridity of these art forms is analysed through a consideration of the doll's traditional implications with doubling, narcissism and the maternal, in view of the post-Oedipal ramifications of the capitalist's discourse. Trying to think aesthetically through the new clinical and theoretical territories opened by recent Lacanian debates about new symptoms, ordinary psychosis and the sinthome, this thesis problematises a traditional understanding of the doll as emblem of a traumatic encounter with the repressed and of visuality as field of the gaze. The doll emerges in this study as a narcissistic supplement, rather than a cypher of anamorphosis. In conclusion, the thesis argues that the contemporary doll is a device allied to the effort of creating a modicum of psychic consistence, at a time when the crisis of desire, as an effect of what has been called the âevaporation of the Father', imposes an individual creative solution to the problem of the Real.

12. Some Clinical Contributions of Jacques Lacan.

Perman, Gerald P.
- Abstract
Jacques Lacan was a French psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who created an original metapsychology based on a close reading of the work of Sigmund Freud combined with the structural linguistics of Ferdinand de Saussure. Lacan’s concept of the unconscious is that of a highly structured entity consisting of interlacing chains of signifiers (sounds, printed words, and images) based on principles of metaphor and metonymy. In this review article, the author provides a brief biographical summary of Lacan’s formative years, his education, and his career, followed by a discussion of some of his major theoretical concepts. Lacan’s three registers or orders of existence, the Imaginary, the Symbolic and the Real, and their relationship to normal and psychopathological mental functioning are described. Lacan’s major structural diagnostic categories are defined as well as his proposed etiology for the development of each of them. Lacan’s formulation of need, demand, and desire are described as well as his late concept of le sinthome. Brief clinical vignettes are used to illustrate some of Lacan’s theoretical concepts, and some clinical recommendations are provided. Lacan’s theories and practice were controversial over his almost 50-year career, and his work is largely unknown to psychiatrists and psychoanalysts in the United States. This article is an effort to fill a small part of this lacuna. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOANALYTIC theory ,SATISFACTION ,MASOCHISM ,SADISM ,PSYCHOSES - Abstract
In this paper, the author takes advantage of the findings of Lacanian psychoanalytic theory in order to re-evaluate the classic Freudian interpretation of perversion. According to it, sadism and masochism are not necessarily coupled but are two different ways of finding satisfaction, which are not mutually interchangeable. Even though they are both related to the same structure defined by what the author identifies as "le suspens" (i.e. suspense), a third element is needed in order for them to be satisfied. This third element is indicated by the expression "la suspension", which denotes someone (or something) being "between sexes". Using masochism as paradigmatic of perversion, the author demonstrates that being "in suspense" and being "in suspension" are two possible ways to differentiate between perversion and psychosis.

DISPLACEMENT (Psychology) , *PSYCHOANALYSIS , *DEAD , *RADICALISM , *INSCRIPTIONS - Abstract
From the original correlation in psychoanalysis between body and symptom, this paper reviews the theoretical displacement processes in Lacan's work which demonstrate and inoculate the role of jouissance in this correlation. Therefore, a problematization between body, jouissance, and symptom is opened and developed primarily through the elaborations operated in the field of jouissance. These elaborations, associated with a logical reduction of the Other (A) and the changes in the conception of the structure of language, which extend beyond the logic of the phallic significance and the Name-of-the-Father, and towards the real, determine a renewal of the problematic, thus displacing these three concepts to new configurations, as corpse, jouissance, and sinthome. The centrality of the real and all the displacements in the elaboration of the body and the symptom are inevitably founded and modified by the movements of the work, regarding the confrontation between the field of language and its possibilities and impossibilities of inscription and registration of the real of the jouissance by the letter. The dimension of the real gains here another position and radicalization of its effects in the psychoanalytic clinical practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOSOMATIC medicine ,PSYCHOSES ,SYNONYMS ,EXILE (Punishment) ,SUFFERING ,PSYCHOANALYSIS - Abstract
Creativity does not specific only the history of the disciplines of spirit. It also defines normality itself to the extent to which normality is given to man who, at best, to use a term coined by the creator of psychosomatic medicine, Viktor von Wiezsäcker, is stricken by normopathie. After a defining meeting with Freud, he published a research in Die Kreatur magazine demonstrating that, as long as it is to be found "exiled on earth", in its minor and pathological meaning, the "creature" is synonym with suffering. For psychoanalysis, in its major opposite meaning, the therapeutic one, the following is implied: how much creativity so much normality. Given this context, the major theoretical and practical plus that Lacan brings in addition to Freud is represented by the possibility of treatment for psychosis using what he coined as the "substitute". His seminar titled Le Sinthome is entirely focused on the manner in which James Joyce could "substitute" his psychosis through the recursive act of his own creativity. The recursion to creation can substitute the recurrence of psychosis. In this paper we argue the importance and function of the substitute in Samuel Becket's case - he was, for a while, Joyce's personal secretary. After a schizophrenic episode followed by an analysis with Wilfred Bion, Beckett managed not only to find substitution in and through his work, but also to provide some important indications for the therapy of this serious condition. This paper traces Jacques Lacan’s theory of jouissance in James Joyce’s Exiles. According to Lacan, there are two kinds of jouissance, namely phallic and Other. The former is achievable through desire for different things in the Symbolic order while the latter is beyond the given order and can be attained through particular activities in sinthome. All major characters of the play are involved with jouissance in one way or another. Richard Rowan as the major character in the play has got along with phallic jouissance and he is trying to move toward the Other jouissance via denial of the Symbolic order and dedication of his time to writing. After living in exile for years and experiencing the pleasures of the phallic jouissance, he is back to find a solution to his problem with the Symbolic order. The jouissance beyond the phallic one for Richard lies in writing which turns out to be his sinthome. An untextualized writing is considered to be Richard’s sinthome that opens up the path toward Other jouissance for him.

The paradox that Freud borrows from Schopenhauer's hedgehog dilemma describes how to deal with human relationships and bonds, and how to approach others without injuring ourselves. However, if we move away from that other, we suffer. This paradox describes in a similar manner, the relationship of the hypnotising leader to the masses. We cannot live without them, but being with them causes us suffering. When others approach us, it makes us uncomfortable; we cannot cope with the hedgehog's spikes, and we do not know what to do with them. It seems that the only thing we can do is hurt ourselves. This paper proposes that the way out of the hedgehog's dilemma is not the optimal distance, but instead a brave proximity, through the path of love. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOANALYSIS ,LITERARY criticism ,LITERATURE ,ARTISTIC creation - Abstract
From the onset of psychoanalysis, literature has been its common topic. The change in theoretical positions and ethical concerns from Sigmund Freud to Jacques Lacan led to the upgrading of literature from the symptom to the sinthome of the subject. Lacan theorized his literary criticism by analysing the "Joyce lesinthome", and hence the proposition of literature as the sinthome of the subject. On the one hand, literature enacts a break-away from the imaginary and the symbolic by way of writing, and represents the subject's jouissance of the unconscious by way of a resetting of letters through meaning reduction. On the other hand, the author enacts self-naming by way of writing, and then forms the fourth ring of the Borromean Knot in the form of sinthome, avoiding the collapse of the subject caused by its inability to be embedded in the imaginary and the symbolic. From the perspective of Lacanian psychoanalysis, literature and other types of artistic creation share the property of sinthome. They protect the human subjecthood with "the knowledge of doing" by keeping people away from the devouring of desire. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article addresses the concept of triggering in neurosis by taking into account current clinical psychology and based on the concepts of chaining and triggering, according to Freudian and Lacanian teachings. Formalizations about the sinthome as an element that repairs bonding mistakes and the chaining index, and the sinthome itself, are convened for a conversation in which neurosis, even in the context of clinical psychology, often presents itself in its non-triggered form. The role of the psychoanalyst as a disrupter of both defense and the sinthome is therefore a question that arises in this scenario. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The authors consider the importance of working with sociopolitical issues in the therapy room with reference to gender identity, transgender identity, and gender politics. They describe the theoretical foundations of queer theory and critical theory and consider how these and associated concepts can be used to bridge the gaps between psychology, psychotherapy, and counseling as well as the sociopolitical field and identity politics. They pay particular attention to ways of holding a clinical and therapeutic focus within a queer philosophical context by distinguishing between a liberal rights approach to therapy and a more radical queer approach. They introduce the Lacanian concept of the sinthome to develop the transactional analysis concept of script. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses the place of the voice in the notion of chiffonnage -- which Lacan sketches in Seminar 24 -- as a direction of healing or, more precisely, an intervention towards the sinthome. Chiffonnage is understood as a clinical intervention using the voice, i.e., an intervention that operates on phonation, on the voice that is, in the body, an actual instinct of the fact that there is a saying. The voice here lies beyond the wall of the word, it requires breaking the wall, chiffonner the word to make a different use of it than the original one. This operation requires twisting the voice to invent a new signifier free of any meaning, as opposed to the actual one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article provides a synthesis of psychoanalytic notions about the symbolic function(s) of the skin, including the subject's relation to the specular image, the internalized reflection of the subject as outlined in Schilder's concept of the "body image," and Lacan's theory of the "mirror stage." The article also traces Esther Bick's work on the psychic function of the skin as a container and Didier Anzieu's development of the skin-ego, exploring the subject's identification with the skin and the internalization of the containment function in relation to the ego and the Other. The article suggests that it may be possible to conceptualize a transformation from the symptom to the sinthome to the skinthome throughout the course of psychoanalytic treatment. HETEROGENEITY ,GROTESQUE ,FORECLOSURE ,PSYCHOANALYSIS ,MULTIPLICITY (Mathematics) - Abstract
The present paper aims to shed light on some post-oedipal moments of the Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis. Going beyond the stereotypical opposition between the oedipal psychoanalysis and the anti-oedipal schizoanalysis, it endeavors to reinvestigate the semiotic nature of the knotenpunkt and the sinthome by applying some Deleuzian and Bakhtinian concepts. Thus, the knotenpunkt is described as a grotesque knot bringing together some heterogeneous elements. The involved disparate components establish a rhizomatic multiplicity irreducible to a common determiner. As far as the sinthome is concerned, it is also illustrated as a grotesque knot quilting the disseminated heterogeneous orders. In contrast to the dominant conception of the symptom with a complex mode of signifying (that is mainly bound to the oedipal topography), the knotenpunkt and the sinthome hold a kind of hyper-formative mode of signifying. As a result, the latter may be regarded as pure formators irreducible to a meaning or a certain interpretation. Finally, the paper sets out to analyze and evaluate the relationship between the sinthome and the foreclosure from a semiotic perspective. Accordingly, the sinthome is explained as a reply to foreclosure which is specifically a perceptive-imperative (retroactive) contemplation (in the light of law according to the Peircean phaneroscopy) on the rhizomatic multiplicity of psychosis (the case of schizophrenia). The paper addresses the proper name in the psychoanalytic clinic based on the Lacanian recommendation that the analyst should pay attention to what the patient is called, since the name is never indifferent. Through the elaboration of a Thesaurus, we analyze the main theoretical influences of Lacan on the nomination passing through authors like Allan Gardiner, Bertrand Russell, Gottlob Frege and Claude Lévi-Strauss; we also approachthe propositions of Saul Kripke. On the basis of semiotic considerations regarding the symptom and the psychoanalytical approach to it, the article addresses the Lacanian conception of sinthome, taking it as the fourth term that, in a semiotic square, would complete the registers of the symbolic, the imaginary, and the real, thanks to the operation of the denial of impossibility and contingency by the subject of the enunciation. By articulating these formulations with the discursive perspective of Laclau and Mouffe and Fontanille’s semiotic considerations on antagonism, we interpret the Peace Agreements achieved between antagonists as expressions of the social sinthome, shaped by the antagonists in the very process of negotiation. PUBLIC service advertising ,MARKETING theory ,BACTERIA - Abstract
We present a psychoanalytic reading of 332 images of bacteria in advertising for antibacterial products and in public service announcements since 1848. We identify four dominant and recurring tropes that bring bacteria into the symbolic realm: cuteness, overpopulation, the lower classes and deviant sex. As a first stage of our analysis, we propose that bacteria are symptoms of a capitalist socio-economic order. Bacteria are repressed fears and fantasies about purity, gender, race, community, pollution, class and sexual promiscuity which are tacitly leveraged by antibacterial brands. We then ask why these fears and fantasies take the form of the bacterial. We trace a movement from the psychoanalytical concept of the symptom to the sinthome. If symptoms can be read as a repressed, extrinsic ideology that can/must be revealed, the sinthome is a fantasy that, when brought to light, does not dissolve, because it structures reality intrinsically. We indicate an emerging body of psychoanalytically informed critical marketing that points to the perverse effects of emancipatory, revelatory critical analysis, where the consumer is made to face their symptom. The sinthome is a useful way to summarize this problem. However, while the sinthome is testimony to the impossibility of redemption through the revelation of our ideological prisons, it has a productive, positive contribution to critical marketing theory. It presents a theory of and a tool for analysing fantasies that focus on the form of their expression, rather than their content. In our case, the fact that fantasy takes the form of the bacterial reveals a surprising confluence between the politics of community and the physiology of (auto)immunity, with important and specific strategies on how ideology can be interrupted. This power of the sinthome to straddle the symbolic, imaginary and real creates ways to conceive marketing phenomena as simultaneously psychoanalytic, political, physical and metaphorical. The present paper is a psychoanalytic reading of recent electoral events in Greece, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with the help of the Lacanian theory of the decline of the father and the concepts of jouissance and the sinthome. The case of Greece, where the radicalization of people's electoral and political choices took place in the framework of an unprecedented crisis, is studied emphatically, to highlight the different characters of this phenomenon's two main strands. The first, represented by the incumbent prime minister of the radical left in a coalition with a party of the populist right, is compared with a sinthomatic solution. The second, viewed in the atrocities of the neo‐Nazi party Golden Dawn, is described as the choice for pure violence. With regards to similar cases, such as Brexit Britain or Trump's America, psychoanalysis can highlight the significance of contingency, which could allow the emergence of such solutions. This paper is a result of the doctoral thesis Vicissitudes Going through the Body and Their Relation to the Epoch. A Psychoanalytic Perspective. It used a qualitative methodology in the context of a descriptive-interpretative study. It explores the different vicissitudes currently going through the body, such as tattoos, scarifications, piercings, self-harms, and psychosomatic phenomena. They are marks that, contrary to the symptom, manifest as other forms of response to anxiety, phenomena resisting the saying, body events entailing an autistic jouissance, signs on the body that are blurred to the sense, marks of lalangue. - Abstract
In this work, we consider the autobiographical narratives written by Daniela Andrade, a militant and transsexual woman, in order to extract what she can teach us about transsexuality as a possibility of making a subjective tie. Drawing upon the way she organizes her experience discursively, recurring to the distinction between gender identity, gender role, anatomy, and sexual orientation, we will raise the hypothesis that such differentiation permits her making herself a proper name ("Daniela Andrade") by electing, in the Symbolic, the signifier "trans woman" to represent her in front of the Other. Thus, by means of a symbolic nomination, Daniela finds a way to operate the rewriting of her jouissance through the invention of a proper name, making up a transsexual sinthomatic solution in the Symbolic, which corrects the double nodal lapse between her body (I) and the desire of the Other (S). Abstract This paper is part of an ongoing thesis of the Master's Degree at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Buenos Aires. The reflection on the use of the knots in the autism clinic is one of the most interesting contributions of this work. Lacan's teaching between 1974-1976 is the base of this study, in which he addresses the Borromean knot in the passage from the triadic to the tetradic knot with the naming function as starting point, to arrive with the logic of knots to autism, characterized by the foreclosure of the gap. The development of the concept of naming as effects is essential to understand the approach of this paper. Keywords: autism- knots- writing-naming- gaps- sinthome. “Dancing beyond the Mirror Stage” brings Lacanian psychoanalytic theory and dance into conversation and explores what each can offer the other. Jacques Lacan, a French psychoanalyst, argues that James Joyce prevented psychosis by creating, via his writing, what Lacan terms a sinthome. Lacan defines psychosis as the separation of the rings that comprise the psyche—the real, the imaginary, and the symbolic—in which the imaginary ring threatens to slip away. Lacan argues that this sinthome is a fourth element in the psyche that works on the body (which shapes the imaginary) by contacting the real, keeping the imaginary in place and the psyche connected. At the end of his seminar on Joyce, Lacan comments that dance does not work on the body in the same manner. This dissertation scrutinizes that statement; intuitively, dance seems to involve the body more than writing does. I begin by unravelling Lacan’s understanding of the sinthome to show the key element for Joyce is how his writing plays with and binds elements of the real. I then to turn to theories of dance, looking at what dance is and arguing that contrary to Lacan’s statement, dance can be sinthome. In fact, dance may be the art most likely to produce a sinthome because it is more closely connected to the imaginary (via the body) and the real. In other words, dance, like psychoanalysis, can help people contain intrusions of the real, then teach people who cannot play (because they feel intruded upon), how to play, producing a space of creativity. Thus, not only is dance like psychoanalysis but psychoanalysis might be more like (or need to be more like) dance. Therefore, having established dance can be a sinthome, I look at the implication of this conclusion—and the possibilities this offers—for both dance and psychoanalysis.

PSYCHOANALYSIS , *SOCIAL theory , *POLITICAL science - Abstract
Jacques Lacan’s pronouncement that psychoanalysis is a praxis extends the relevance of psychoanalytic thinking and practice far beyond the confines of the clinic into the realm of the political. This introduction to the special issue on “Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Interventions into Culture and Politics” highlights a series of crucial Lacanian concepts and interventions within the political. Key concepts for a Lacanian social and political theory touched upon here include the notions of the act; the gaze; the lamella; jouissance; object petit a; and the sinthome. Crucial domains of political struggle and intervention addressed include the areas of race and racism (inclusive of questions of African American history and identity); the Trans movement; the ongoing political relevance of Frantz Fanon; and the re-conceptualization of post-traumatic forms of political subjectivity. PSYCHOANALYSIS , *DEONTOLOGICAL ethics , *ANXIETY - Abstract
Patricia Gherovici’s groundbreaking work in Lacanian psychoanalysis brings unique focus to both clinical psychology and today’s socio-political reality. In this interview, we ask Dr Gherovici to reflect on how Lacanian theory can be applied to the political issues of today. Our discussion takes place months after the Trump election and addresses such matters as unconscious choice in gender selection; rising levels of anxiety in non-cis identified analysands over Trump’s presidency; the subversive potential of the unconscious; the efficacy of grounding ethics on comedy; and employing Jacques Lacan’s notion of the sinthome to depathologize psychosis and transgender identity. Dr. Gherovici finds in her analysands a window through which to witness the impact of our social reality upon our psychic selves; and she argues for a psychoanalytic praxis that not only marries the political to the clinical, but also bases its ethics upon recognition of the singularity of the subject. In particular, she points to the subject’s individual sinthome as charting a creative response to the dire realities we each confront. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research is a theoretical essay based on psychoanalysis with a focus on the latest Lacanian concepts inherited from Freudian concepts. This research is guided by the symptom of eating compulsion in its forms of presentation, neurosis or psychosis, which can acquire its stability in the confluence between life and death drives. Whose entanglements of symptom and sinthome will make their mark and hystoire. The intention is to demonstrate that in the paths of an analysis, the symptom of binge eating can serve to structure a certain speakingbeing (parlêtre) during the analytical journey. It is necessary to consider that the body that manifests a compulsion, as a speaking-being (parlêtre), plays between life and death, between the pleasure of eating and the pain of guilt, going through a hellish war. The eating compulsion has repetitive and transferential fragments, as an act that commands the subject, directing him to the repetition and submission of his act, since in it and through it, he is alienated to the jouissance of the Other, agreeing symptomatically. However, when his jouissance is equipped with the tingling that makes him speak, he encounters another jouissance, that is, another satisfaction in a symptomatic concordance. Understanding the eating compulsion as possessing a singular function for the subject is to think about the destinies of desire and drives in the current clinic, and extract the subjectivities from it Esta pesquisa é um ensaio teórico fundamentado na psicanálise com enfoque nos últimos conceitos lacanianos herdados dos conceitos freudianos. - Abstract
This paper pretends to discuss on psychotic stabilizations, delusional metaphor and sinthome, by having as reference Freud and Lacan’s psychoanalytic readings on judge Schreber and the Irish writer James Joyce, respectively. It is concluded that the subjective substitution that the subject may evoke in the search of his/ her stabilization is not restricted to the delusional metaphor. The psychotic person will also be able to find different solutions for his/her affliction, such as the production of a sinthome, as Joyce did with his art. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims at offering a Lacanian interpretation of the latest released film the major topic of which is about transsexuality: The Danish Girl (2015). The story of Einar/Lili will be pursued in order to assert that the film reproduces a stereotyped representation of transsexuality as a symptomatic expression of psychosis, the main enunciation of which is to be a woman trapped in a man's body, which places the subject in the modality of the pousse-à-la-femme in order to become The Woman. // The contrast between some lessons in Seminar XXIII of Jacques Lacan with A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, that was one of Lacan's sources, brings about how the work depicts Joyce as a young man, finding the knottings where the foreclosure of the Name of the Father did not allow him to respond and could lead to some detachments that would trigger his psychosis. Nevertheless, with his work he was gradually building a work that was useful as Sinthome and knotting of his structure.

Based on Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalytic theory, this article addresses the subjective impasses established in the process of subjective constitution of a child in psychoanalytical treatment in process of an autistic resolution and their attempts to know-how to do with language in that process. I start from the following question: what is the function of the child’s insistent language in a speech not suitable for their communication? My hypothesis is that the child takes language as an attempt to know-how with their symptom giving it a status of sinthome; a sinthomatic thread as a way in which the subject in constitution answers the imperative of the real. I discuss the issue of psychological diagnosis and its relation to the constitution of the subject and the psychic structure not set in childhood. I emphasize the double causation of the subject and explore the Borromean logic in autism from this child’s speech and language
