1. Hitting two BSM particles with one lepton-jet: search for a top partner decaying to a dark photon, resulting in a lepton-jet

Abstract

A maverick top partner model, decaying to a dark photon was suggested. The dark photon decays to two overlapping electrons for dark photon masses of $\approx 100$ GeV, and results in a so-called lepton-jet. The event includes a top quark as well, which results in events with two boosted objects, one heavy and the other light. We propose a search strategy exploiting the unique signal topology. We show that for a set of kinematic selections, both in hadronic and leptonic decay channel of the SM top quark, almost all background can be eliminated, leaving enough signal events up to top partner mass of about 3 TeV for the search to be viable at the LHC.

Abstract

Many bioinformatics methods have been proposed for reducing the complexity of large gene or protein networks into relevant subnetworks or modules. Yet, how such methods compare to each other in terms of their ability to identify disease-relevant modules in different types of network remains poorly understood. We launched the ‘Disease Module Identification DREAM Challenge’, an open competition to comprehensively assess module identification methods across diverse protein–protein interaction, signaling, gene co-expression, homology and cancer-gene networks. Predicted network modules were tested for association with complex traits and diseases using a unique collection of 180 genome-wide association studies. Our robust assessment of 75 module identification methods reveals top-performing algorithms, which recover complementary trait-associated modules. We find that most of these modules correspond to core disease-relevant pathways, which often comprise therapeutic targets. This community challenge establishes biologically interpretable benchmarks, tools and guidelines for molecular network analysis to study human disease biology.

Abstract

Plasmas, known to emit high levels of vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation, are used in the semiconductor industry for processing of low-k organosilicate glass (SiCOH) dielectric device structures. VUV irradiation induces photoconduction, photoemission, and photoinjection. These effects generate trapped charges within the dielectric film, which can degrade electrical properties of the dielectric. The amount of charge accumulation in low-k dielectrics depends on factors that affect photoconduction, photoemission, and photoinjection. Changes in the photo and intrinsic conductivities of SiCOH are also ascribed to the changes in the numbers of charged traps generated during VUV irradiation. The dielectric-substrate interface controls charge trapping by affecting photoinjection of charged carriers into the dielectric from the substrate. The number of trapped charges increases with increasing porosity of SiCOH because of charge trapping sites in the nanopores. Modifications to these three parameters, i.e., (1) VUV induced charge generation, (2) dielectric-substrate interface, and (3) porosity of dielectrics, can be used to reduce trapped-charge accumulation during processing of low-κ SiCOH dielectrics. Photons from the plasma are responsible for trapped-charge accumulation within the dielectric, while ions stick primarily to the surface of the dielectrics. Abstract

Existence of hydrated cluster ions is a well-established fact demonstrated unambiguously through laboratory simulations and in situ measurements in the D region of the ionosphere. A series of experiments was recently conducted at Sagamihara, Japan with the intention of detecting some the ions, which though predicted, have eluded detection in laboratory. The other motivation was to look for heavier ions in conditions close to ionospheric D region so that, with the availability of better ion mass spectrometers, these could now be detected by in situ experiments. Results of these experiments point to a new aspect, viz., the existence of neutral cluster molecules, which (a) have ionization potential of less than 10.2 eV, (b) have life times in excess of 90 min and (c) are formed in limited pressure range. Two neutral cluster molecules, which have been detected, are NO(H2O)4 and a molecule with mass number 131, which could probably be H3ONO(H2O)3N2. Abstract

NO(+) plasma was produced inside a chamber using an EUV source and controlled amount of water vapor was introduced to produce cluster ions. Ion formation started within a minute but the time required for attaining peak concentration for different ions varied from 1 min to 40 min. Positive ions detected for the first time in this experiment were 33(+), 54(+), 66(+), 71(+), 76(+), 83(+), 86(+), 93(+), 94(+), 102(+), 112(+), 117(+), 131(+) (with high concentration) and 19(+), 29(+) and 37(+) (with low concentrations). In addition, a number of other ions were detected with lower concentrations. Concentration of most of the ions was strongly dependent on NO and water vapor pressures. Effect of lower and upper thresholds of chamber pressure, for the production of cluster ions was observed clearly. These pressure thresholds correspond to an altitude range of 50 to 100 km in the ionosphere, where cluster ions have been observed., 資料番号: AA0047901003
