The study aims to examine how duct length affects the performance of a solar air heater (SAH) with a D‐shaped ribbed absorber plate, compared to a smooth absorber plate. The optimized D‐shaped ribs from previous research investigations are utilized in the present work to explore the absorber plate's length influence on the Nusselt number. The study reveals a slight decrease in the Nusselt number as the length of the absorber plate with D‐shaped ribs is increased. The observed behavior is attributed to the diminishing capacity of air to extract heat from the heated surface within the elongated duct. Moreover, the study calculates the pressure drop and thermo–hydraulic performance parameter (THPP) associated with the D‐shaped ribs and formulates correlations to establish a quantitative understanding of the relationship between duct length and D‐shaped rib performance. The maximum value of THPP was found to be 1.17 within the considered range of duct height. Furthermore, correlations have been derived for the Nusselt number and friction factor in terms of duct length to hydraulic diameter ratio and Reynolds number with maximum deviations of +1.7 and +2.13, respectively. These correlations serve as valuable tool for engineers and researchers seeking to optimize the design of SAHs, enabling them to balance the benefits of D‐shaped ribs with the considerations of duct length. The effect of variation in open area ratio (β) in a multi-V rib roughened Single-Pass Solar Air Heater (SPSAH) is analyzed in this work. Fixing values of other parameters, such as open area ratio (β) and relative roughness width (W/w), were studied with a certain range of Reynolds number (Re) ranging from 2000 to 18000. The improvement in Nusselt number ratio (Nu/Nus) and thermo-hydraulic performance (THPP) and the decline in duct friction ratio (f/fs) support the application of perforation. The physics of music has been well studied and has provided the basis on which musical instruments are made, studied and characterized. Significant research has been conducted on the different kinds of musical instruments, which range from traditional instruments like the mridangas of India to the bagpipes of Scotland. In fact, a lot of research has been carried on the acoustics of different kinds of flutes as well, such as the Finnish kantele and the Indonesian Kompangs. The Indian subcontinent, the birthplace of transverse flutes and a host of other instruments, itself has a plethora of unique musical instruments that have been scientifically examined. Yet, the Bastar flutes of India have evaded the due scientific attention that they deserve owing to their unique sound generation mechanism. Quite strangely and surprisingly, these Bastar flutes are a unique genre of flutes that don't require lips to be played, and are quite intriguing. The current research explores the aeroacoustics of a Bastar flute via experimental measurements, computational simulations and analytical formulations. The results demonstrate that the amplitude produced is directly proportional to the number of rims present. This are also responsible for producing a low-frequency, high-amplitude melodious sound. It also suggests that the underlying mechanism behind sound generation in a Bastar flute is a unique blend of edge tone and a jet tone, demonstrating a rare phenomenon not seen in traditional musical instruments. A detailed study on Solar Air Heaters (SAHs) with single-pass roughening with plastic net perforated multi-V and continuous multi-V ribs was investigated and compared for its effectiveness. Improvements in the Nusselt number ratio (Nu/Nus) and the friction factor ratio (f/fs) studied with the Reynolds number (Re) ranged from 2000–18000 for a relative roughness height (e/Dh) of 0.043, a relative roughness pitch (P/e) of 10, an aspect ratio (W/H) of 12, and an angle of attack (α) of 60°, maintaining a similar flow scenario. For a syntactically roughened channel with a perforated multi-V rib, the significant enhancement was recorded in thermo-hydraulic performance with a slight decrease in pumping power. The main objective of this article is to perform the turning operation on an EN36B steel work-billet with a tungsten carbide tool, to study the optimal cutting parameters and carry out an analysis of flank-wear. Experimental and simulation-based research methodology was opted in this study. Experimental results were obtained from the lab setup, and optimisation of parameters was performed using RSM (response surface methodology). Using RSM, cutting-tool flank-wear was optimised, and the cutting parameters which affect the flank wear were determined. In results main effect plot, contour plot, the surface plot for flank-wear and forces (Fx, Fy and Fz) were successfully obtained. It was concluded that tool flank-wear is affected by depth of cut, and that flank-wear generally increases linearly with increasing cutting-speed, depth of cut and feed-rate. To validate the obtained results, predicated and measured values were plotted and were in very close agreement, having an accuracy level of 96.33% to 98.92%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
