Abstract

This is the era of High Performance Computing (HPC). There is a great demand of the best performance evaluation techniques for the file and storage systems. The task of evaluation is both necessary and hard. It gives in depth analysis of the target system and that becomes the decision points for the users. That is also helpful for the inventors or developers to find out the bottleneck in their systems. In this paper many performance evaluation techniques are described for file and storage system evaluation and the main stress is given on the important one that is replay traces. A survey has been done for the performance evaluation techniques used by the researchers and on the replay traces. And the taxonomy of the replay traces is described. The some of the popular replay traces are just like, Tracefs [1], //Trace [2], Replayfs [3] and VFS Interceptor [12]. At last we have concluded all the features that must be considered when we are going to develop the new tool for the replay traces. The complete work of this paper shows that the storage system developers must care about all the techniques which can be used for the performance evaluation of the file systems. Abstract

A Java File Security System (JFSS) [1] has been developed by us. That is an ecrypted file system. It is developed by us because there are so many file data breaches in the past and current history and they are going to increase day by day as the reports by DataLossDB (Open Security Foundation) organization, a non-profit organization in US so it is. The JFSS is evaluated regarding the two software engineering approaches. One of them is size metric that is Lines of Code (LOC) in the software product development. Another approach is the customer oriented namely User Satisfaction Testing methodology. Satisfying our customers is an essential element to stay in business in modern world of global competition. We must satisfy and even delight our customers with the value of our software products and services to gain their loyalty and repeat business. Customer satisfaction is therefore a primary goal of process improvement programs as well as quality predictions of our software. With the help of User Satisfaction Index that is calculated for many parameters regarding the customer satisfaction. Customer Satisfaction Surveys are the best way to find the satisfaction level of our product quality.

It will give you a thorough understanding of how a file system works in general. The main component of the operating system is the file system. It is used to create, manipulate, store, and retrieve data. At the highest level, a file system is a way to manage information on a secondary storage medium. There are so many layers under and above the file system. All the layers are to be fully described here. This paper will give the explanatory knowledge of the file system designers and the researchers in the area. The complete path from the user process to secondary storage device is to be mentioned. File system is the area where the researchers are doing lot of job and there is always a need to do more work. The work is going on for the efficient, secure, energy saving techniques for the file systems. As we know that the hardware is going to be fast in performance and low-priced day by day. 18. Men's perspectives on public-space sexual harassment of women in South Asia.

Abstract

The ubiquity of public-space sexual harassment (PSH) of women in the global South, particularly in South Asia, is both a public health and gender equity issue. This study examined men's experiences with and perspectives on PSH of women in three countries with shared cultural norms and considerable gender inequalities – Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. The three-country survey in 2021–2022 was completed by 237 men who were generally young, urban, single, well-educated, and middle-/high-income. Among the 53.3% who witnessed PSH, 80% reported intervening to stop it or help the victim. A substantial share of men worried about PSH, and bore emotional, time, and financial costs as they took precautionary or restorative measures to help women in their families avoid PSH or deal with its consequences. Most respondents articulated potential gains for men, women, and society if PSH no longer existed. However, a non-negligible share of participants held patriarchal gender attitudes that are often used to justify harassment, and a small share did not favour legal and community sanctions. Many called for stricter legal sanctions and enforcement, culture change, and education. Men's perspectives offer insights for prevention of harassment and mitigation of its consequences. 24. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao: A Sociological Analysis.

Abstract

Indian society is patriarchal in nature with a patrilineal kinship system and patrilocal norm of residence. Various beliefs, norms, modes of behaviour, attitudes and social values got embedded and internalised, through sanctions, in the socio-historical construction of Indian society which defined the cultural legacy of a strong preference for a son has been well documented in sociological and anthropological literature. The emergence of the nuclear family structure and spread of global ideology of small family norms along with the gender-biased socialisation process, the notion of family honour and sanctity attached to the issues of the girls' safety, security and marriage, the custom of dowry and religious obligations has accentuated the problem leading to discrimination towards the daughter. The concern for falling Child Sex Ratio (CSR) is a vital indicator of women's devaluation and disempowerment in a society as it reflects discrimination at both, the pre-birth as well as the post-birth levels. The paper attempts to sociologically analyse the institutionalisation of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) Scheme vis-a-vis the contextual reality in Indian society. 27. The Characteristic Equation of the Exceptional Jordan Algebra: Its Eigenvalues, and their relation with the Mass Ratios of Quarks and Leptons

Abstract

We have recently proposed a pre-quantum, pre-space-time theory as a matrix-valued Lagrangian dynamics on an octonionic space-time. This pre-theory offers the prospect of unifying the internal symmetries of the standard model with gravity. It can also predict the values of free parameters of the standard model, because these parameters arising in the Lagrangian are related to the algebra of the octonions which define the underlying non-commutative space-time on which the dynamical degrees of freedom evolve. These free parameters are related to the algebra $J_3(\mathbb O)$ [exceptional Jordan algebra] which in turn is related to the three fermion generations. The exceptional Jordan algebra [also known as the Albert algebra] is the finite dimensional algebra of 3x3 Hermitean matrices with octonionic entries. Its automorphism group is the exceptional Lie group $F_4$. These matrices admit a cubic characteristic equation whose eigenvalues are real and depend on the invariant trace, determinant, and an inner product made from the Jordan matrix. Also, there is some evidence in the literature that the groups $F_4$ and $E_6$ could play a role in the unification of the standard model symmetries, including the Lorentz symmetry. The octonion algebra is known to correctly yield the electric charge values (0, 1/3, 2/3, 1) for standard model fermions, via the eigenvalues of a $U(1)$ number operator, identified with $U(1)_{em}$. In the present article, we use the same octonionic representation of the fermions to compute the eigenvalues of the characteristic equation of the Albert algebra, and compare the resulting eigenvalues with the known mass ratios for quarks and leptons. We find that the ratios of the eigenvalues correctly reproduce the [square root of the] known mass ratios for quarks and charged leptons. We also propose a diagrammatic representation of the standard model bosons, Higgs and three fermion generations, in terms of the octonions, exhibiting an $F_4$ and $E_6$ symmetry. In conjunction with the trace dynamics Lagrangian, the Jordan eigenvalues also provide a first principles theoretical derivation of the low energy value of the fine structure constant, yielding the value $1/137.04006$. The Karolyhazy correction to this value gives an exact match with the measured value of the constant, after assuming a specific value for the electro-weak symmetry breaking energy scale.

Abstract

Background: Screen-time (ST) is the time spent on digital media. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the daily ST of less than an hour for preschoolers. However, increased ST among preschoolers is becoming a public health concern. Objective: This study assessed the multi-theory model (MTM)'s applicability in explaining the ST behavior change among preschoolers through parents. Methods: A quota sample of 72 parents was drawn from Northern India. Data were analyzed using multiple regression. Results: Behavioral confidence (p < 0.001) and changes in the physical environment (p < 0.001) significantly predicted the initiation of reducing ST. The sustenance of limiting ST was significantly predicted by the emotional transformation (p < 0.001), practice for change (p < 0.001), and changes in the social environment (p = 0.001). Conclusions: The study highlights the usability of the MTM model in designing and testing interventions for parents to limit ST among their children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
