In this study, a new microphthalmous species of the genus Lathrobium s. str. from central northern Anatolia, Turkey is described and illustrated: Lathrobium orduense sp. n. (Ordu province). Taxonomy of Lathrobium brignolii Bordoni, 1980 is revised. Additional records of four Lathrobium species are reported. Distributions of the microphthalmous Lathrobium species in Anatolia are mapped. A supplement to a recently published key to the Turkish microphthalmous representatives of the genus Lathrobium is provided. A total of 11 microphthalmous species are now known from Turkey.

A new genus and species, Percussiopalpus inusitatus Hlaváč & Jałoszyński gen. n. et sp. n. of the tribe Thaumastocephalini is described and illustrated, based on specimens collected in the Asian part of Turkey (Balıkesir Province). The discovery of a free-living pselaphine species morphologically closely resembling the obligate cavernicolous Thaumastocephalus Poggi et al. prompted a detailed morphological study of both genera, which results in transferring Thaumastocephalini from Batrisitae to Euplectitae.

In this study, total of 70 specimens of the genus Bledius Leach, 1819 (Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae) were collected from different regions of Turkey between 2006 and 2020. As a result of the study, 10 species were determined from the study areas in Turkey. Among them, Bledius (Astycops) opacus (Block, 1799), B. (Bargus) secessus Bondroit, 1912 and B. (Elbius) diota (Schiødte, 1866) are recorded for the first time from Turkey. In addition, B. (Astycops) subterraneus Erichson, 1839 from Aegean Region, B. (Hesperophilus) cribricollis Heer, 1839 from Eastern Black Sea Region, B. (Pucerus) verres Erichson, 1840 from Aegean Region and Southeastern Anatolia Region, B. (s.str.) spectabilis Kraatz, 1858 from Central Anatolian Region and B. (s.str.) unicornis (Germar, 1825) from Aegean Region are recorded for the first time.

Bu çalışmada, 2005-2019 yılları arasında Türkiye’nin farklı il ve bölgelerinden Carpelimus Leach (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae) cinsine bağlı toplam 117 örnek toplanmıştır. Arazi çalışmaları sonucunda toplam 12 tür rapor edilmiştir. Bunların arasında, Carpelimus (Trogophloeus) fiorii Gildenkov türü Türkiye için ilk kayıt niteliğindedir. Ayrıca, C. (s. str.) fuliginosus (Gravenhorst) türü Ege ve Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgeleri’nden, C. (s. str.) gusarovi Gildenkov türü Ege ve Akdeniz Bölgeleri’nden C. (s. str) pusillus (Gravenhorst) türü Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nden C. (Paratrogophloeus) rivularis (Motschulsky) türü Ege Bölgesi’nden, C. (Troginus) exiguus (Erichson) türü Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nden ve C. (Troginus) impressus (Lacordaire) türü ise Marmara Bölgesi’nden ilk defa bildirilmiştir., In this study, a total of 117 specimens of the genus Carpelimus Leach (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae) were collected from different provinces and regions of Turkey between 2005 and 2019. In this study, Paederinae species from Kırıkkale province of central Anatolia were studied. The present paper is based on material collected by aspirator and sifter between June 2016 and April 2019 in seven localities of southern Kırıkkale province, At the end of the study, 17 species belonging to 11 genera were reported. 14 of them are new record for Kırıkkale Paederinae fauna. Leptobium yagmuri Anlaş, 2017 and Tetartopeus inexcisus Assing, 2009 represented the first record since the description of the species. In addition, Achenium scimbaliodes Koch, 1937 and Tetartopeus inexcisus Assing, 2009 are recorded for the first time from Central Anatolia Region of Turkey.

In this study, total of 388 specimens of the genus Achenium Leach, 1819 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) were collected by aspirator and sifter methods from different provinces of Aegean and Central Anatolia Regions of Turkey between 2014 and 2019. As a result of the field studies, five species of the genus were recorded. These species wereAchenium anatolicum Jarrige, 1952; A. humile (Nicolai, 1822); A. propontiacum Bordoni, 2009; A. scimbalioides Koch, 1937 and A. turcicum Coiffait, 1971. Of the recorded species; A. humile from the Aegean Region and A. turcicum from Central Anatolia Region were the first recorded for the area. A. turcicum was reported for the first time outside the type locality and its distribution was found to be much wider than previously known. A. turcicum and A. anatolicum were the endemic species for Anatolia.

As result of faunistic studies from Afyonkarahisar province in central western Anatolia, three new species of the subgenus Tropogastrosipalia Scheerpeltz belonging to the genus Geostiba Thomson are described and illustrated: Geostiba ahirensis sp. nov. (Ahır Dağları), G. sandiklica sp. nov. (Sandıklı Dağı), and G. karakusensis sp. nov. (Karakuş Dağları). In this study, Lathrobium tokatense sp. n. (Tokat province) and L. amasiacum sp. n. (Amasya province), two new microphthalmous species of the genus Lathrobium s. str. from central northern Anatolia, are described and compared to closely related species, L. brignolii Bordoni, L. distortum and L. deforme Assing. Some specimens of the new species were obtained using subterranean pitfall traps in the mesovoid shallow substratum (MSS). The new species are included in an identification key for all microphthalmous Lathrobium s. str. species in Turkey. A total of 10 nominal microphthalmous species are now known to occur in Turkey.

In the study, microphthalmous species of the genus Lathrobium Gravenhorst from northern Anatolia are examined. Two new species are described, illustrated, and distinguished from congeners: Lathrobium kacari sp. n. (Çorum province) and L. celiki sp. n. (Amasya province). A new synonym is proposed: Lathrobium bodemeyeri Bernhauer, 1903 = L. paphlagonicum Assing, 2001 syn. n. An updated key to the microphthalmous Lathrobium species of Turkey is presented. Distributions of microphthalmous Lathrobium species in Anatolia are mapped. A total of eight microphthalmous species is now known from Turkey.

Leptobium izmiricum sp. nov. (İzmir province) and Leptobium keskini sp. nov. (Balıkesir province) from western Anatolia, Turkey, are described, illustrated and distinguished from related congeners. The genus Xantholinus Dejean, 1821 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini) contains 105 species in the western Palearctic region. In the present study, new and additional distribution data for 22 species of the genus Xantholinus are reported from various countries of the western Palearctic Region. The material examined was collected between 1898 and 2017; and contained types and additional specimens mostly in European museums. Among them, five species are the first country records: Azerbaijan (1), Armenia (1), Bosnia Herzegovina (1), Iraq (2), Jordan (1) and Macedonia (2). The original specimens of Xantholinus araxis Reitter, 1898 have been studied, the lectotype designated, the species redescribed and illustrated. Besides, the type specimens of Xantholinus phenicius Coiffait, 1971 (syn of Xantholinus rufipennis Erichson, 1839), Xantholinus kirschenblati Bordoni, 1975, Xantholinus fageli Coiffait, 1971 and Xantholinus gridellii carius Coiffait, 1972 (syn of Xantholinus varnensis Coiffait, 1972) are illustrated.

In the study, a new species of the genus Sunius Stephens (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Paederinae) is described and illustrated from Bursa province in northwestern Turkey, and distinguished from related congeners: Sunius uludagicus sp. nov. The species number of the genus is now reached 43 species in Turkey, 39 of them are apparently endemic to Anatolia.

In the study, four new species of Astenus (Eurysunius) Dejean (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Paederinae) are described and illustrated from central Anatolia, in Turkey, and distinguished from related consubgeners: Astenus veyseli Anlaş, sp. n. (Sivas province), A. gultekini Anlaş, sp. n. (Kırıkkale province), A. kirani Anlaş, sp. n. (Sivas province) and A. neseti Anlaş, sp. n. (Kırşehir province). A key to Turkish species of Eurysunius is provided. The distributions of 22 species in Turkey are mapped.

Two new species of the genus Laemostenus Bonelli sg. Antisphodrus Schaufuss of the bodemeyeri species-group are described, illustrated and compared with the related species: Laemostenus (Antisphodrus) bozdagensis sp. nov. (Type locality Manisa, Bozdağlar) and Laemostenus (Antisphodrus) binboga sp. nov. (Type locality Kayseri, Sarız, Binboğa Dağları). These new species were collected with subterranean pitfall traps in the mesovoid shallow substratum (MSS). Additional faunistic and systematic comments, identification key and check-list for Turkish species of the bodemeyeri species group are also presented. Distribution of the bodemeyeri species group is mapped.

Polyphylla turkmenoglui Petrovitz, 1965 türü Ege Bölgesi bağlarında bulunan en önemli zararlılardan biridir. Toprakta yaşayan larvası bitki kökleri ile beslenir. Bu nedenle bu zararlının kontrolü çok zordur. Erginleri çoğunlukla çam yaprakları ile beslenir. Bu çalışmada, 2017-2018 yıllarında Mayıs-Ağustos tarihleri arasında Manisa’nın Alaşehir ve Sarıgöl ilçelerinde bulunan iki bağ alanına kurulan ikişer tane ışık tuzağı aracılığı ile ergin P. turkmenoglui türünün mevsimsel aktivitesi incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonunda, toplam 1.552 örnek değerlendirilmiş olup bunların 362’si Alaşehir, 1.190’ı ise Sarıgöl bağ alanından toplanmıştır. Tuzak lokaliteleri arasında küçük farklılıklara rağmen, bu türe ait örnek sayısı Haziran ayından itibaren artmaya başlamış, Haziran ayının ortası ve Temmuz ayının başında en yüksek yoğunluğa ulaşmış ve bundan sonra düşmeye başlamıştır.Temmuz ayının ikinci yarısından sonra hiç örnek toplanamamıştır. Ek olarak, bu türün dişi ve erkeğine ait morfolojik bilgiler ve şekillere de çalışmada yer verilmiştir., Polyphylla turkmenoglui Petrovitz, 1965 is one of the the most important pests of vineyard in the Aegean Region of Turky. Larvae of this species feed on roots of vineyard and in general, the larvae is found under the soil. For that reason, control of this pest is very difficult. The adults mostly feed on pines foliage. In the study, the seasonal activity of the adult beetles of P. turkmenoglui was studied via two light traps between May-August in 2016 and 2017 in two vineyard locations in Alaşehir and Sarıgöl districts, Manisa province of Turkey. At the end of the study, 1.552 specimens of P. turkmenoglui were evaluated. Total 362 and 1.190 specimens were collected from the localities in Alaşehir and Sarıgöl respectively. In spite of the small differences in trapping localities, the number of the specimens belonging to this species increased as of June, reached the highest level in mid-June and early July, and started to decrease after this date. No specimens were collected after the second half of July. In addition, the morphological features of this species, both male and female, were defined and illustrated.

The Mediterranean Red List assessment is a review of the regional conservation status of approximately 6,000 species (amphibians, mammals, reptiles, birds, fishes, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, corals and plants) according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria. It identifies those species that are threatened with extinction at the regional level to guide appropriate conservation actions for improving their status. This report summarises the results for Mediterranean dung beetles. All the dung beetles that are endemic or nearly endemic to the Mediterranean region – 200 species – are included. The geographical scope is the Mediterranean region according to the Mediterranean Basin Biodiversity Hotspot (Mittermeier et al., 2004), with the exception of the Macaronesian islands, which have not been included in this study. Of the 644 species of dung beetles inhabiting the Mediterranean region, 200 (32%) have at least 75% of their distribution range within the borders of the region. The other 444 species, which occur over a wider area, were excluded from this assessment. Of the 200 species analysed, 150 are considered endemic as they cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Based on the study of types and additional material, new taxonomic and faunistic data on some species of the genus Astenus from the Mediterranean and adjacent regions are presented. Astenus henrii sp. n. from Turkey is described, illustrated, and distinguished from related congeners. The following new synonyms are proposed: Astenus procerus (Gravenhorst, 1806) = A. rufopacus Reitter, 1909 syn. n. = A. circumflexus circumflexus Jarrige, 1952 syn. n. = A. circumflexus scutellaris Coiffait, 1970 syn. n. = A. obliquus Jarrige, 1952 syn. n. = A. baali Coiffait, 1960 syn. n.; A. melanurus (Küster, 1853) = A. adonis Coiffait, 1960 syn. n.; A. thoracicus (Baudi di Selve, 1857) =A. jordanicus Coiffait, 1981 syn. n.

In this study, 702 specimens belonging to the genus Medon Sephens were examined. The material was obtained from various field trips between 2010-2019 by using aspirator, sifter, pitfall trap, berlese funnel and MSS trap methods. As a result of the study, 15 of the 22 known species from Turkey were identified. Medon brunneus (Erichson, 1839), M. ferrugineus (Erichson, 1840), M. lanugo Assing, 2004 and M. subfusculus Fagel, 1969 from the Aegean Region, M. semiobscurus (Fauvel, 1875), M. abantensis Bordoni, 1980 and M. lamellatus Assing, 2004 from the Central Anatolian Region are reported for the first time. Besides, M. rufiventris (Nordmann, 1837) is recorded for the first time from both the Aegean and Central Anatolian Regions. In addition, many new locality records of the recorded species were presented. Lathrobium ovchinnikovi sp. nov. and L. klimenkoi sp. nov. from Kyrgyzstan (Fergana Mts.) are described, illustrated and distinguished from other congeners of Middle Asia. L. lackneri Assing, 2007 is reported for the first time since the original description. L. longulum Gravenhorst, 1802 and L. elongatum Linnaeus, 1767 are recorded from Kyrgyzstan for the first time. To date, nine species of the genus are known from Kyrgyzstan. Three of the nine species are endemic to the country; distributions of these species are snapped. A checklist of Lathrobium of Kyrgyzstan is provided.

The seasonal activity of Paederus fuscipes Curtis, 1826 was studied between MayNovember in 2013 and 2014 in ten localities situated of five provinces in western Anatolia, Turkey. In generally, their number start to increase from May, reaches a high level in early and mid-June, decreases in July and August, which is the dry season, and reaches the highest level in early and mid-September. It was determined that P. fuscipes reach large populations particularly wet and hot weather and after rain.

Four new micropterous species of the genus Sunius Curtis, 1829 are described and illustrated from western Anatolia: Sunius akdaghensis sp. n. from Kutahya province, Sunius ciceki sp. n. from Balikesir province, Sunius ozgeni sp. n. and Sunius cagatayi sp. n. from Denizli province. Bunlardan sekiz tanesi ilk ulke kaydi niteligindedir: Azerbaycan (1), Bulgaristan (2), Cek Cumhuriyeti (1), Iran (2), Irak (1), Kazakistan (1) ve Suriye (1). Ayrica, supheli bir tur olan Rugilus couloni (Drugmand, 1989) yeniden tanimlanmis ve sekillendirilmistir. Ek olarak, Turkiye’deki 10 Rugilus turune ait bir yayilissal kontrol listesi sunulmustur.

In this study, twenty four Xantholinus species are reported from Turkey. Amongst them, X. ( Calolinus ) bayrami sp. nov. from Konya province, X. ( Helicophallus ) ceviki sp. nov. from Ardahan and Erzurum provinces, and X. ( H. ) khachikovi sp. nov. from Mus province are described, and their diagnostic characters are illustrated. In addition, X. ( Heterolius ) fortepunctatus Motschulsky, 1860 is redescribed and illustrated. Numerous new and additional records of Xantholinus species from Turkey are presented. A distributional checklist of the thirty eight species of Xantholinus represented in Turkey is provided. The distributions of Turkish Helicophallus species are mapped.

Leptobium yagmuri Anlaş, sp. n., from central Anatolia, Turkey, is described, illustrated and distinguished from related congeners. New and additional country records of 19 Leptobium species in the Palaearctic Region are also reported; among them four species are first country records: Iraq (2), Italy (1) and Kazakhstan (1). A key to Turkish Leptobium is presented. Distributions of endemic Leptobium species in Anatolia are mapped. © 2017 Magnolia Press.
