Purpose: We aimed to investigate the histopathological correlation of the suspected prostate malignancy detected in multiparametric prostate magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI). Materials and Methods: The data of 93 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy and had preoperative mp-MRI were examined. Age and pre-operative Prostate-Specific Antigen values were retrospectively collected from patient files. The pathology specimens were examined again and post-operative ISUP grade group, other pathological findings (seminal vesicle invasion, lymph node involvement, and extraprostatic extension), pre-operative mpMRI were re-examined and PIRADS score, extracapsular extension, seminal vesicle invasion, neurovascular bundle invasion, lymph node involvement, and ADC values were recorded. Results: 151 (92,07%) of 164 lesions detected in mpMRI were histopathologically correlated. 80% of patients with seminal vesicle invasion (P < 0.001), 28.8% of patients with extracapsular extension (P < 0.052) and 42.9% of patients with lymph node involvement (P =.001) in mpMRI were histopathologically correlated. A significant relationship was found between PIRADS scores and ISUP grade groups (P < 0.001). There was a negative correlation between ADC values and ISUP grade groups (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Our study showed that the lesions detected by mpMRI showed a high histopathological correlation.

Upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) is less common than bladder cancer, but its incidence is increasing. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has been the treatment focus for locally invasive and high-grade UTUC. Herein, we aimed to present a case of a locally advanced non-metastatic UTUC, which was thought to be unresectable due to local invasion, but surgically treated successfully after NAC. A 64-year-old male patient was admitted to another hospital because of right flank pain, which was not accompanied by macroscopic haematuria. He did not have comorbidities in his anamnesis, but he had a history of smoking 40 packs/year. A locally invasive right kidney tumour was detected in cross-sectional imaging performed at another hospital. He underwent surgery in that hospital, but radical nephroureterectomy could not be performed because of local invasion. He presented to our urology department. He was subsequently started with cisplatin-based NAC, which led to the resolution of local invasion. After NAC, right radical nephroureterectomy and ipsilateral bladder cuff excision with subcostal and Gibson incisions were performed. No signs of mass invasion or lymph node involvement were detected intraoperatively. He was examined 3 months after surgery. on cystourethroscopy, the bladder was normal and cytology was benign. No recurrence or metastasis was detected on the whole-body computed tomography. NAC is one of the valuable multimodal treatment options, enables surgery in locally invasive UTUC and contributes positively to survival rate.

Up to 10% of the cases with urinary system endometriosis may involve the ureter. Left distal ureter is the most common site of involvement. the differentiation between intrinsic and extrinsic endometriosis is very substantial for the selection and application of definitive treatment. Medical and surgical treatment alternatives are available for endometriosis management and histopathologic examination is required for definitive diagnosis. in this case report, a 33-year-old patient underwent segmental ureter excision and ureteroureteral anastomosis due to endometriosis causing obstruction in the left distal ureter. the operation was performed through a left Gibson incision and a 6 Fr double J stent was implanted in the ureter. the stent was removed after 4 weeks and the control magnetic resonance imaging-urography was performed at 3 months postoperatively. Obstruction and hydroureteronephrosis were observed to be completely regressed in control. If there is no other obvious etiology for the presence of unilateral hydroureteronephrosis in women in their reproductive age, the diagnosis of endometriosis should be considered.

WOS: 000464434700036, PubMed ID: 30881421, Objective: In the present study, we investigated the efficacy of bladder hydrodistension combined with pentosan polysulfate (PPS) treatment in interstitial cystitis (IC)/bladder pain syndrome (BPS). Methods: In this study, 339 patients diagnosed with IC/BPS were categorized into two groups. The first group only received 300 mg/day PPS, while the second group received 300 mg/day PPS following bladder hydrodistension. The results were evaluated at the 3rd, 6th, and 12th months after the first dose using the interstitial cystitis symptom index (ICS!), international cystitis problem index (ICPI), visual analog scale (VAS), and female sexual function index (FSFI). Results: PPS treatment started just after hydrodistension was significantly more effective than PPS treatment alone and combined treatment significantly reduced the rate of non-compliance such that, at the end of the 3rd month, 12.1% patients in Group-1 did not continue their treatment whereas only 1.9% of patients in Group-2 did not continue. Conclusions: The study results indicate that PPS treatment started just after hydrodistension yields significantly better results in terms of both symptom improvement and treatment compliance in patients with IC/BPS.

EgeUn###, Purpose: We aimed to investigate the effect of percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) implementation on the second ureteroscopy (URS) outcomes after a failed URS. Materials and Methods: The data of four hundred forty-eight patients with an unsuccessful URS history were evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups; patients who underwent PCN before second URS (Group A) and patients who did not (Group B). We compared the stone access rate in the second URS between the two groups according to patient and stone characteristics and operative data. Then, group A was subdivided into two groups according to stone access as; access succeeded (Group A1) and access failed (Group A2). We also compared stone access rates between these two groups in terms of gender, age, body mass index, stone size, side, location, grade of hydronephrosis and PCN duration. All data were available immediately after surgery and obtained from patient files and the outcome assessment was performed during the study period. Results: Stone access rate was higher in group A than group B (143/196 vs 41/252, P = .0018). Mean nephrostomy duration and mean hydronephrosis grade were significantly higher and mean stone size was significantly lower in group A1 than group A2 (18.74 vs 9.62 days, P < .001; grade 3.25 vs 1.21, P = .038; and 7.286 vs 12.631 mm P < .001, respectively). Conclusion: PCN is a favourable intervention after a failed URS and increases the success rate of the second operation with ease of implementation and minimal morbidity.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the factors affecting postoperative urinary continence and erectile function in patients who underwent RALRP due to localized prostate cancer in our clinic. Materials and Methods: Our study included 439 patients who were diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer and underwent RALRP. Patients' age, preoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) value, prostate volume, radical prostatectomy material Gleason score, operative time, transperitoneal surgical approach (posterior or anterior), and surgical margin and extraprostatic extension statuses were recorded. Postoperative continence and erectile function status of the patients were questioned and recorded via telephone interviews and in outpatient clinic follow-up. Patients were divided into groups according to postoperative incontinence and erectile dysfunction status and the variables were compared between the groups. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the continent and incontinent groups in terms of age, preoperative PSA, prostate volume, operative time, postoperative Gleason score, surgical margin status, extraprostatic extension status, or anterior or posterior approach (p>0.05). Ectopic ureter is one of the most common urinary tract anomalies. We, herein, present a case of a giant ureter with ectopic orifice, mimicking pelvic organ prolapse, which is the first in the literature. A 59-year-old female patient presenting with frequently recurrent urinary tract infection had grade 3 pelvic organ prolapse. On examination, the organ producing the appearance of prolapse was found to be a right ureter of giant size and was obstructed by a large stone at the distal segment. The proximal end of the ureter ended blindly. After exploration, the stone was removed, the ureter was detached from the urethra, and the lumen was tied off and cut 5 cm proximally. At 6 months postoperatively, the patient is being followed up without any clinical problems. In such cases with nonfunctioning renal segment draining proximally, the chance of cure can be obtained without a need for a comprehensive intervention such as total abdominal ureterectomy.

However, the early detection and diagnosis rates are considerably lower among Turkish men as compared with their counterparts in Western countries. This fact reflects a lack of awareness and fear of prostate cancer as well as low prevention activities. To reduce the disparities in prostate cancer survival, there is a great need to increase men's participation in screening programs. The present study was performed to assess why men do not seek screening or participate in screening programs, focusing on the demographics of men refusing a free screening program for prostate cancer.

Objective: There is no definitive consensus on the methods to verify suspicious lesions in bone scintigraphy (BS) for bone metastases in patients diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa). in this study, we aimed to compare the accuracy rates of imaging modalities used for patients with suspected lesions in BS. Design: Retrospective cross-sectional study Setting: Tertiary university hospital Subjects: One hundred and twenty-six PCa patients with bone metastases Intervention: BS was applied to all patients for bone metastases screening. Patients underwent computerized tomography, X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography for bone metastasis verification for suspicious lesions in BS. Main outcome measures: Comparison of metastasis detection rates of the imaging modalities and the evaluation of sensitivity of BS according to the location and the number of lesions. Results: MRI provided the highest rate of metastasis confirmation (81.3%). WOS: 000419241300002, Objective: Predictive factors that could affect the cure and complication rates of midurethral slings (MUS) in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) were investigated. Materials and Methods: A total of 594 women (outside-in transobturator in 285, inside-out transobturator in 91, and retropubic in 218) with SUI and who had undergone MUS were evaluated. The median age was 53.9 (27-82) years. Univariate analyses were done using chi-square test, Student's t-test and the Mann-Whitney U test. Multivariate analyses were done using logistic regression analysis to determine predictive factors affecting cure and complication rates. Results: The mean follow-up time was 48 months. The subjective cure rate was 84% and complication rate was 11.2%. On univariate and multivariate analyses, the cure rate was found to be increased in younger patients [odds ratio (OR): 0.97, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.95-0.99, p=0.038] and in patients with pure SUI (OR: 2.17, 95% CI: 1.31-3.60, p=0.002).
