To compare initial clinical/laboratory parameters and outcomes of mortality/rebleeding of endoscopy performed12 h(early UGIE) versus endoscopy performed after 12-24h(late UGIE) of ED admission in children with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding(AUGIB) due to portal hypertension.This is a retrospective cohort study. From January 2010 to July 2017, medical records of all children admitted to a tertiary care hospital with AUGIB due to portal hypertension were reviewed until 60 days after ED admission.A total of 98 ED admissions occurred from 73 patients. Rebleeding was identified in 8/98(8%) episodes, and 9 deaths were observed. UGIE was performed in 92(94%) episodes, and 53(58%) of them occurred within 12 h of ED admission. Episodes with early UGIE and late UGIE were similar in terms of history/complaints/laboratory data at admission, chronic liver disease associated, AUGIB duration, and initial management. No statistically significant associations were found between early UGIE and the outcomes of death/rebleeding and prevalence of endoscopic hemostatic treatment (band ligation or sclerotherapy) compared to late UGIE. In the multivariable logistic regression model, the endoscopic hemostatic treatment showed a negative association with early UGIE(OR=0.33;95%CI=0.1-0.9;p = 0.04).This study suggests that in pediatric patients with AUGIB and portal hypertension, UGIE may be performed after 12-24 h without harm to the patient, facilitating better initial clinical stabilization/treatment and optimization of resources.

The objective of this work was to evaluate and correlate the oxidative stress in patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia) hospitalized in an intensive care unit (ICU). This was a cross-sectional study, performed with 26 patients in an ICU of a hospital in the Zona da Mata in Minas Gerais. Patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels were evaluated in two moments: on the day of admission (T0) and one day after the uncontrolled glycaemia (DG1). The evaluation of the oxidative profile was determined by the dosage of serum total antioxidant capacity, based on the ability of ferric reduction, determination of enzymatic activity of Superoxide Dismutase, Catalase and Glutathione S-Transferase, lipid peroxidation products and carbonylated proteins. The levels of ferric reducing ability decreased significantly, whereas the activity of the Superoxide Dismutase enzyme increased significantly after uncontrolled glycaemia in relation to the initial time. Although the lipid peroxidation did not change between the times evaluated, the damage marker significantly reduced, shown by carbonylation of proteins after the uncontrolled glycaemia. The critical patients evaluated in this study present altered oxidative profile after the uncontrolled glycaemia, a common problem that imposes the worst prognoses.

A nova Base nacional comum curricular – BNCC (2017), aborda na competência 5 a cultura digital, é um anseio dos profissionais da educação a inovação tecnológica nas metodologias de ensino. Muitas escolas das redes públicas de ensino estão preocupadas em implementar a cultura digital enquanto suporte ao processo de aprendizagem. Neste sentido a presente pesquisa pretende descrever os quatro tipos de software educativo: Software educativo de sistema tutorial; Software educativo de exercício e prática; Software educativo de simuladores e jogos e Software educativo de sistema experto.

O presente estudo objetiva sintetizar como o Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul se organizou para o estudo e a implementação da Nova BNCC (2017), nas escolas da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Campo Grande, além de apontar os aspectos relativos às competências socioemocionais. Sabe-se que para que o currículo chegue à sala de aula há um longo caminho a ser percorrido, neste contexto, a intermediação dos principais atores que atuam no chão da escola é fundamental. No entanto entender como as articulações e organização dos estudos foram realizados diante dos inúmeros desafios relacionados ao processo de implementação do documento da Base faz-se necessário.

O presente artigo objetiva relatar sobre o processo histórico em que emergiu a função do Coordenador Pedagógico, uma vez que a gestão/organização do trabalho pedagógico sempre foi e será necessária no espaço escolar, mas é importante entender dentro do contexto histórico o modo que ela se efetivou, entendendo que seu surgimento está relacionado com o momento histórico.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other forms of dementia was ranked 3rd in both the Americas and Europe in 2019 in a World Health Organization (WHO) publication listing the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Copper (Cu) imbalance has been reported in AD and increasing evidence suggests metal imbalance, including molybdenum (Mo), as a potential link with AD occurrence.We conducted an extensive literature review of the last 60 years of research on AD and its relationship with Cu, sulfur (S), and Mo at out of range levels.Weanalyzed the interactions among metallic elements’ metabolisms;Cu and Mo are biological antagonists, Mo is a sulfite oxidase and xanthine oxidase co-factor, and their low activities impair S metabolism and reduce uric acid, respectively. We found significant evidence in the literature of a new potential mechanism linking Cu imbalance to Mo and S abnormalities in AD etiology: under certain circumstances, the accumulation of Cu not bound to ceruloplasmin might affect the transport of Mo outside the blood vessels, causing a mild Mo deficiency that might lowerthe activity of Mo and S enzymes essential for neuronal activity. The current review provides an updated discussion of the plausible mechanisms combining Cu, S, and Mo alterations in AD.

Objetivo: O estudo avaliou a adesão ao tratamento farmacológico de crianças atendidas em ambulatório especializado de psiquiatria infantil, no interior de Minas Gerais/Brasil. Métodos: O estudo descritivo/exploratório teve a amostra definida por conveniência temporal. Os dados foram coletados de outubro/2020 a março/2022. Os questionários semi-estruturados para identificar perfil sociodemográfico e avaliar os sintomas psiquiátricos nos cuidadores foram aplicados na primeira consulta (pré-tratamento farmacológico) e demais instrumentos, para verificação da adesão medicamentosa, foram aplicados 4 e 8 semanas após o início do uso do metilfenidato, respeitando os aspectos éticos envolvidos em uma pesquisa. Resultados: Dos 54 participantes da pesquisa 55,6% eram do sexo masculino, 71,4% tinham entre 6 a 9 anos, (a maioria de Viçosa-MG), havendo predominância de mães como cuidadora principal. O método MAT foi aplicado a 33 pacientes após 4 semanas com 96,96% de adesão e a 23 pacientes com 8 semanas apresentando 95,65% de adesão. Conclusão: O tamanho amostral se mostrou limitado não possibilitando uma análise estatística significativa. Sugere-se um estudo mais amplo para avaliação mais profunda da adesão medicamentosa do metilfenidato.

A presente pesquisa tem como tema o incentivo à leitura de contos da literatura de Malba Tahan em uma abordagem interdisciplinar e significativa para o ensino e aprendizagem de Matemática e a disseminação do aprendizado por meio do uso das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs). A pesquisa foi idealizada e aplicada pela pesquisadora, professora da Sala de Leitura, formada em Letras e responsável por promover projetos interdisciplinares. Houve o apoio do professor de Matemática da turma e a participação da coordenadora pedagógica. O projeto havia sido planejado para ser desenvolvido presencialmente, pois a escola dispõe de uma Sala de Informática e internet para participação de todos. Mas, devido a pandemia que se instalou no país, não foi possível e o projeto teve de ser adaptado ao ensino remoto. Dessa forma, participaram efetivamente desta pesquisa 30 alunos. Nesse sentido, inserir as TICs foi um atrativo a mais, proporcionando aos alunos motivação ao ensinar a disciplina e evidenciando uma experiência positiva ao trabalhar com a produção de vídeo envolvendo a leitura e a Matemática. Diante disso, a problemática apontada pelos professores de Matemática da atualidade é: Tendo em vista um grande número de leitores funcionais, que não sabem interpretar, é possível incentivar e engajar o aluno ao mundo da leitura prazerosa e, ao mesmo tempo, ensinar Matemática de maneira significativa envolvendo a tecnologia? Pautado nesse questionamento, o objetivo geral foi avaliar e melhorar o desempenho dos alunos na disciplina de Matemática, engajando-os no mundo da leitura e no uso das TICs e os objetivos específicos foram apresentar uma aprendizagem lúdica e motivadora; promover uma educação empreendedora Matemática aliada a tecnologia e; promover o desenvolvimento das competências socioemocionais. A metodologia utilizada foi pautada na execução de uma investigação científica com alunos de 6º ano do Ensino Fundamental II; assim, foi proposta uma pesquisa-ação descritiva, com uma avaliação diagnóstica inicial e final para obtenção e análise de dados sobre o conhecimento prévio dos alunos a respeito da disciplina de Matemática. Após a sequência de leituras, os alunos foram incentivados a produzirem um vídeo sobre um dos contos lidos, por meio do uso de diversos aplicativos de edição com intuito de protagonizar o aprendizado. Por fim, puderam socializar com os demais alunos e professores, depois postá-lo na internet para disseminar a aprendizagem adquirida. Diante dos resultados, quanti-qualitativos, foi possível concluir a eficácia do projeto interdisciplinar para uma aprendizagem significativa na disciplina de Matemática, no incentivo à leitura e no engajamento do uso das TICs como forma de disseminação do aprendizado. Também foi fundamental envolver as competências socioemocionais, pois proporcionou uma aprendizagem bastante significativa que motivou o aluno a buscar mais e a querer ser um indivíduo capaz de respeitar o colega, ajudar o outro, ser resiliente e saber lidar com as emoções. Assim, aliar a leitura, o ensino e aprendizagem de Matemática e a tecnologia, por meio da mediação do professor, foi um excelente caminho para a aprendizagem significativa e a formação de um aluno autônomo e protagonista. The theme of this research is to encourage reading tales from the literature of Malba Tahan in an interdisciplinary and meaningful approach for teaching and learning Mathematics and the dissemination of learning with ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies). The research was conceived and applied by the researcher, a professor at the Reading Room, trained in Literature and responsible for promoting interdisciplinary projects. There was also the support of the Mathematics teacher in the class and the participation of the pedagogical coordinator. Initially, the project had been planned to be developed in person, as the school has a Computer Room and internet for everyone to participate. But, due to the pandemic that took place in the country, it was not possible, and the project had to be adapted to remote learning. Thus, 30 students effectively participated in this research. In this sense, inserting ICTs was an added attraction, providing students with more motivation when teaching the subject, evidencing a positive experience when working with video production involving reading and Mathematics. Therefore, the problem pointed out by current Mathematics teachers is: Considering a large number of functional readers, who do not know how to interpret, it is possible to encourage and engage the student in the world of pleasant reading and, at the same time, learn Mathematics of meaningful way involving technology? Based on this questioning, the general objective was to evaluate and improve the performance of students in the Mathematics discipline, engaging them in the world of reading and in the use of ICTs, and the specific objectives are to present a playful and motivating learning experience; promote an entrepreneurial Mathematics education combined with technology and promote the development of socio-emotional skills. The methodology used was based on the execution of a scientific investigation with 6th grade students at Elementary School II; thus, a descriptive action research was proposed with an initial and final diagnostic evaluation to obtain and analyze data on the students\' prior knowledge about the subject of Mathematics. After the sequence of readings, students were encouraged to produce a video about one of the stories read, using various editing applications with the aim of promoting learning. Finally, they were able to socialize with other students and teachers, then post it on the internet to disseminate the learning they had acquired. In view of the quantitative and qualitative results, it was possible to conclude the effectiveness of the interdisciplinary project for meaningful learning in the Mathematics discipline, in encouraging reading and engaging in the use of ICTs as a way of disseminating learning. It was also essential to involve socio-emotional skills, as it provided a very significant learning experience that motivated the student to seek more and want to be an individual capable of respecting the colleague, helping the other, being resilient and knowing how to deal with emotions. Thus, being able to combine reading, teaching, and learning Mathematics and technology, through the mediation of the teacher, was an excellent path towards meaningful learning and the formation of an autonomous student and protagonist.

Objetivo: Analisar o perfil oxidativo de pacientes portadores de Rinite Alérgica Persistente, relacionando a sua classificação clínica (leve ou moderada-severa). Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo transversal, com coleta de dados entre 09/2021 e 02/2022. Após a estratificação clínica de pacientes previamente diagnosticados foi realizada uma coleta de sangue para determinação dos parâmetros hematológicos e bem como para avaliação espectrofotométrica dos marcadores relacionados ao perfil oxidativo. Resultados: Os dois grupos avaliados apresentaram predomínio do sexo feminino, média etária de aproximadamente 30 anos e relataram fazer uso de automedicação. Não foi observado diferença significativa na capacidade antioxidante total entre os grupos avaliados, entretanto os níveis de atividade da enzima antioxidante Catalase se apresentaram significativamente reduzidos no grupo com rinite moderada-severa (91,2 + 90,5 vs. 148,5 + 111,3 μm/L; p=0,048), interessantemente observamos correlação positiva entre os níveis de catalase com proteínas carboniladas (r=0,437 e p=0,0253) e de catalase com índice de massa corporal (r=0,4109 e p=0,037) apenas neste grupo. Conclusão: Nossos dados demonstram que os pacientes com quadros mais graves de rinite alérgica apresentam maiores alterações dos marcadores oxidativos, que se correlacionam positivamente com fatores de risco de agravo do referido quadro.

Objetivo: Levantar as dificuldades e a percepção dos professores das escolas municipais de um município de Minas Gerais quanto à abordagem do tema "uso drogas no contexto escolar. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo qualitativo, descritivo e interpretativo, conduzido com 17 docentes, de em um município localizado na Zona da Mata Mineira. Para compreender as dificuldades e percepções dos professores na abordagem da temática “uso de drogas” no contexto escolar, o material utilizado foi gravação e a transcrição do curso, com 4 módulos, desenvolvido junto aos participantes. Foi utilizado análise de conteúdo proposta por Bardin L (2016). O estudo foi aprovado por Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: Em relação ao perfil sociodemográfico, 15 (88,2%) eram do sexo feminino, 8 (47,1%) casados e com média de idade de 45 anos. A partir dos depoimentos com relação ao nível de conhecimento sobre o tema drogas verificou - se que grande parte dos professores possuem conhecimento baixo, dificuldade de abordar o tema e pouca capacitação. Conclusão: Conclui-se que há uma grande necessidade de capacitação dos professores sobre o tema “drogas” e de apoio de outras áreas e segmentos da sociedade.

Various forms of vascular injury are frequently associated with type-2 diabetes mellitus (DM2). Macro-angiopathy has alarming signs and symptoms such as those seen with stroke or heart attack, however the presentation of small vessel disease is generally more subtle and therefore usually unnoticed for a long period of time. While it may affect any organ, complications involving the nervous system such as diabetic poly-neuropathy (DPN) are especially debilitating, and it may also be a risk factor for other brain disorders such as dementia. The underlying mechanisms are likely to be multi-faceted, but piling evidence indicates oxidative stress as one of the crucial factors. Here we evaluate the oxidative profile of patients with DM2. The total anti-oxidant capacity appears to be reduced in DM2 with or without complications. Of the specific bio-markers studied, the levels of tissue-damage indicator malon-dialdehyde (MDA) were significantly lower in the DM2 + DPN population only. These results suggest that diabetic patients present with wavering oxidative status, and the low MDA concentrations in patients with complications such as DPN may represent either an exhausted anti-oxidative defense system or a response to anti-inflammatory medications. The findings may also support the use of anti-oxidants such as vitamins A and E.

Background The analysis of the atherogenic potential of the lipid profile for biomarkers, such as the TG/HDL-c ratio, predicts cardiovascular risk better than isolated lipids. Objective To identify the TG/HDL-c cutoff points for multiple risks (hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, obesity) and to evaluate the association between sociodemographic, clinical, laboratory, anthropometric, and life habit variables and the TG/HDL-c ratio in hypertensive and/or diabetic individuals in the context of Primary Health Care. Methods This was a cross-sectional study with 833 hypertensive and/or diabetic patients, conducted between August 2017 and April 2018. The cutoff point of the TG/HDL-c were obtained by the ROC curve. Cardiovascular risk was discriminated by TG/HDL-c, categorized by the cutoff and evaluated in relation to multiple risks. Cell migration is a hallmark out-of-equilibrium process in biology. In addition to persistent self-propelled motion, many cells display remarkable adaptive behaviors when they navigate complex environments within the body. Combining theory and experiments, we identify a curvature-sensing mechanism underlying obstacle avoidance in immune-like cells. The genetic perturbation of this machinery leads to a reduced capacity to evade obstructions combined with faster and more persistent cell migration in obstacle-free environments. We propose that the active polymerization of the actin cytoskeleton at the advancing edge of migrating cells is locally inhibited by the curvature-sensitive BAR protein Snx33 in regions with inward plasma membrane curvature. This coupling between actin and membrane dynamics leads to a mechanochemical instability that generates complex protrusive patterns at the cellular front. Adaptive motility thus arises from two simultaneous curvature-dependent effects, i) the specific reduction of propulsion in regions where external objects deform the plasma membrane and ii) the intrinsic patterning capacity due to the membrane-actin coupling that promotes spontaneous changes in the cell’s protrusions. Our results show how cells utilize actin- and plasma membrane biophysics to sense their environment, allowing them to adaptively decide if they should move ahead or turn away. On the basis of our findings, we propose that the natural diversity of BAR proteins may allow cells to tune their curvature sensing machinery to match the shape characteristics in their environment.

O presente artigo traz uma reflexão acerca do atual ensino de matemática e evidencia o quanto a literatura de Malba Tahan pode contribuir para uma aprendizagem por metodologia ativa. Ap roposta de ensino de Malba Tahan vem ao encontro de renomados escritores que defendem as metodologias ativas como forma de engajar o aluno e torná-lo um cidadão crítico e autônomo. Dessa forma, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica qualitativa para identificar e comparar as características propostas na metodologia contextualizada de Malba Tahan com as das metodologias ativas. Realizou-se, também, uma investigação quantitativa com docentes de matemática de escolas estaduais de uma cidade do Vale do Paraíba do Estado de São Paulo. O intuito foi verificar se conheciam o famoso escritor Malba Tahan, se apreciavam e trabalhavam a literatura de forma interdisciplinar e se a didática proporcionada pelo escritor era considerada metodologia ativa enquanto ensino e aprendizagem de matemática. Diante disso, o resultado da pesquisa mostrou que as metodologias ativas são desenvolvidas há algumas décadas, conforme apontado pela literatura de Malba Tahan, e trazem diversos benefícios ao ensino e aprendizagem de Matemática conforme estratégias apontadas pelos docentes investigados.

Deltamethrin (DTM) is a synthetic pyrethroid widely used in the cultivation and management of several crops due to its insecticidal action. Application to crops of pyrethroids such as DTM can result in the exposure of water and fruit consumed by fruit bats having a high pyrethroid content which may be harmful. Therefore the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of short-term oral exposure of the fruit-eating bats (Artibeus lituratus) to two concentrations of DTM (0.02 and 0.04 mg/kg of papaya) on histopathology of the intestine, liver and kidney. The intestine of the animals exposed to both concentrations showed inflammatory infiltrate, degeneration, necrosis and goblet cell hyperplasia as the most frequent pathologies. Besides, the acid mucins showed an increase in the frequency of non-viable cells. The liver showed hepatocyte vacuolizatio and nuclear enlargement, as well as inflammatory infiltrate and steatosis. The kidneys of the exposed animals showed and inflammatory infiltrate, benign nephrosclerosis, vacuolization and necrosis. Also, DTM reduced nitric oxide synthesis, decreased glomerular diameter and increased glycogen percentage in the proximal tubules. Our results suggest that acute exposure to DTM at low concentrations has the potential to induce pronounced histopathological changes in vital organs, such as intestine, liver and kidney of fruit-eating bats.

To evaluate the incidence and the prediction of unstable blood glucose level among critically ill patients hospitalized in an intensive care unit.A cohort study was conducted with 62 adult patients hospitalized at an intensive care unit of a hospital located in Minas Gerais, Brazil, between March and July of 2017. Patient's demographic information, along with scores for Simplified Acute Physiology Score III, primary medical diagnosis, discharge status, diagnosis of diabetes and/or sepsis, length of stay, glycemic variability, type of nutrition, types of medications and treatments, and oxygen therapy were collected daily. A daily venous blood sample was collected to measure blood glucose levels during the patient's hospitalization period. Bivariate analysis was used to explore the association among the potential diagnostic indicators and the outcome of unstable blood glucose levels. Multivariate Cox regression was used to identify the potential predictors for the outcome.Of the total of 62 participants, 45.1% (n=28) had unstable blood glucose level. Among the 28 patients with unstable blood glucose levels, half of them (n=14, 50%) had hypoglycemia and the other half had hyperglycemia (n=14, 50%). Decreased number of days hospitalized and the use of intensive glucose control with regular insulin were associated with decreased odds of developing hyperglycemia. The presence of mechanical ventilation was associated with a higher risk for the development of hypoglycemia.This study provides knowledge and evidence of diagnostic indicators for unstable blood glucose levels that are not currently included in the NANDA-International terminology for the nursing diagnosis Risk for unstable blood glucose level (00179).This study identified important diagnostic indicators that nurses can observe during the assessment to identify patients that are at risk for developing unstable blood glucose level and provide the appropriate care.Avaliar a incidência e predição de glicemia instável em pacientes adultos internados em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. MÉTODO: Estudo de coorte concorrente, realizada entre março e julho de 2017, com amostra de 62 pacientes. As variáveis independentes coletadas da admissão do paciente a unidade foram sexo, raça, idade, Simplified Acute Physiology Score III, diagnóstico de internação, tipo de saída, diabetes, sepse, tempo de permanência, variabilidade glicêmica, tipo de nutrição, medicamentos e terapêutica, e oxigenoterapia (cateter nasal e ventilação mecânica). Os dados foram analisados por estatística descritiva e análise de sobrevida com teste de Log-rank e regressão multivariada de Cox.Dos 62 pacientes, 45,1% (n=28) desenvolveram a glicemia instável. Dos 28 pacientes com glicemia instável, metade (n=14, 50%) apresentou hipoglicemia, e a outra metade apresentou hiperglicemia (n=14, 50%). Menor tempo de permanência e controle estrito da glicemia foram fatores de proteção para desenvolvimento de hiperglicemia. Ventilação mecânica foi associada ao desenvolvimento de hipoglicemia. CONCLUSÃO: Este estudo fornece conhecimento e evidência sobre indicadores diagnósticos para o desenvolvimento de glicemia instável, que atualmente não estão incluídos na terminologia da NANDA-Internacional para o diagnóstico de enfermagem Risco de glicemia instável. IMPLICAÇÕES PARA ENFERMAGEM: Este trabalho contribui para o aperfeiçoamento da Taxonomia da NANDA-Internacional e, por conseguinte, da linguagem padronizada de enfermagem.

Among one of the most commonly seen and primary headaches is migraine. Oxidative stress and inflammation is discussed to be implicated in the pathogenesis of migraine. However, further knowledge about this issue is necessary because data are in part controversial and the possible underlying mechanisms remain inconclusive to date. To evaluate and compare the oxidative and inflammatory profile of patients with migraine 47 volunteers were divided into 3 groups: 15 women with chronic migraine (WCM); 17 women with episodic migraine (WEM) and 15 men with migraine (MM) and enrolled in this study.Total antioxidant status; the enzymatic activity of the antioxidant agents Catalase (CAT), Glutathione S-transferase (GST) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD); oxidative stress markers malondialdehyde (MDA) and carbonylated proteins; blood count and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio; uric acid, c-reactive protein and cholesterol total and fractions were determined in pacients with migraine in the interictal phase. The group male participants (MM) displayed a reduction in total antioxidant status, as well as a lower value for antioxidant enzymes, but had no significant alterations in markers related to damage by oxidative stress compared to women. These findings suggest that there is a difference in the oxidative profile between the sexes among migraine patients. This may allow a better understanding of patients profile with different migraine phenotypes and identify new markers that might help understanding the pathophysiology and migraine patient management.
