Simple Summary: This research investigated microplastic ingestion in two marine crustacean species of high commercial importance, namely the Giant Red Shrimp Aristaeomorpha foliacea and the Deep-Water Rose Shrimp Parapenaeus longirostris. The primary purpose of this study was to better understand how these species are affected by microplastic pollution, a growing concern in the marine environment worldwide. Based on stable isotope analysis of muscle tissue and on the examination of their gastrointestinal tracts, it was found that the trophic niche of the two species is similar, but the type of particles ingested differed significantly in terms of shape, colour, size class, and polymer. These outcomes shed light on the pervasive impact of microplastic contamination on marine wildlife, emphasising potential threats to consumers at higher levels of the food web. A better knowledge of pathways that microplastics follow through marine food webs is crucial for understanding the ecological implications posed by this emerging contaminant. Increasing plastic contamination poses a serious threat to marine organisms. Microplastics (MPs) ingestion can represent a risk for the organism itself and for the ultimate consumer. Through the analysis of the gastrointestinal tract, coupled with stable isotope analysis on the muscle tissue, this study provides insights into the relationship between MPs pollution and ecology in two commercial marine species caught in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea: Aristaeomorpha foliacea and Parapenaeus longirostris. Stable isotope analysis was conducted to determine the trophic position and the trophic niche width. The gastrointestinal tracts were processed, and the resultant MPs were analysed under FT-IR spectroscopy to estimate the occurrence, abundance, and typology of the ingested MPs. The trophic level of the species was similar (P. longirostris TP = 3 ± 0.10 and A. foliacea TP = 3.1 ± 0.08), with an important trophic niche overlap, where 38% and 52% of P. longirostris and A. foliacea has ingested MPs, respectively. Though species-level differences may not be evident regarding MP's abundance per individual, a high degree of dissimilarity was noted in the typologies of ingested particles. This research provides valuable insights into how MPs enter marine trophic webs, stressing that isotopic niche analysis should be combined with other methods to explain in detail the differences in MPs ingestion. Simple Summary: Pazopanib is an oral drug for metastatic pretreated uterine leiomyosarcoma that received approval in 2012, but poor data have been reported on its activity in real life since the disease is very rare. Uterine leiomyosarcoma has a poor objective response rate to other agents. We assessed the effectiveness and safety of pazopanib in everyday clinical practice, showing its activity and tolerability in patients. Background: Uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS) is characterized by aggressive behavior associated with a high risk of relapse and mortality. Several therapeutic agents have been employed in the treatment of metastatic disease, with a poor objective response rate. Pazopanib, approved in 2012, is a multi-targeted, orally active small molecule that exerts its effects by inhibiting several tyrosine kinases. To date, poor research on real-life data has been conducted. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of the drug in everyday clinical practice. Methods: We present results of multicenter retrospective data on 38 patients with heavily pretreated metastatic uLMS who underwent oral pazopanib during their therapeutic journey. Results: At a median follow-up of 8.6 months, the disease control rate was 55.2%, with 17% partial responses and 15 patients (39.5%) with stable disease. At a median follow-up of 8.6 months, median progression-free survival was 4 months, and median overall survival was 19.8 months. The most common grade 3 adverse events (AEs) drug-related were hepatic toxicities, diarrhea, hypertension, nausea, and vomiting (all of them with an incidence of 5% considering the whole study cohort). No grade 4 AEs occurred. Conclusions: Pazopanib in everyday clinical practice is safe and shows a good disease control rate with prolonged survival. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to investigate the existing link between Total Quality Management (TQM) and Sustainability, consistent with the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach. For this purpose, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out, which resulted in a corpus of 139 scientific articles covering the period from 1996 to 2023. Two research questions were answered: (1) What are the main research methodologies adopted in literature to analyze the relationship between TQM and Sustainability? (2) Which are the mostly used CSFs of TQM for achieving Sustainability? Based on this analysis, a thorough explanation of why TQM can be considered the catalyst of Sustainability is presented. The results indicate how four CSFs of TQM, which are Human Resources Management 'HRM', 'Process management', 'Customer Focus' and 'Continuous Improvement', recur and intersect with each other in literature. Finally, from a managerial perspective, this research represents a significant contribution in establishing the importance of a TQM-oriented management approach to achieve Sustainability, providing insights and understanding to guide managers/decision-makers to enhance sustainability in quality improvement processes. The healthcare sector produces 2 gigatons of CO2. To address this impactful trend and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the adoption of circular economy (CE) practices could represent a strategic target. In this context, the present article provides a systematic and bibliometric literature review of CE practices applied in the healthcare sector by considering the collected case studies. This study aims to analyze the state of the art in CEs in the healthcare sector in order to identify CE practices in healthcare, examining how they contribute to sustainability goals and the critical issues in their implementation. A final selection of 36 articles from reputable databases, Web of Science and Scopus, was obtained and analyzed using VOSviewer. By systematically examining these papers, the study investigates the key CE practices implemented within the healthcare sector and their respective areas of application, which help the broader mission of achieving SDG 12, and also, to a lesser extent, SDG 9. Although the research criteria impose some limitations, this study offers a comprehensive review of successful circular practices adopted in the healthcare sector while shedding light on existing gaps and providing valuable insights for relevant stakeholders.
