Introduction: Thedeep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common entity that mainly affects the deep venous system of the lower limbs, for which multiple clinical prediction scales have been developed, which have been constructed and validated in outpatients and in-patients.Objetives: We aimed to validated five clinical predic-tion scores for the diagnosis of lower limb DVT in pa-tients from La Sabana de Bogota, Colombia. Methods: A cross-sectional study with analysis of a diagnostic test was carried out in patiens with sus-pected deep vein thrombosis, including those who had venous Doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs for suspected DVT. The performance of five clini-cal prediction scales for DVT (classic and modified Wells, Oudega, CEBI and Constans) for outpatients and inpatients was calculated in those scores who are validated in both populations and only in am-bulatory or hospitalized patients for those that are specific scores. Results: Nine hundred seventy-four patients were en-tered into the analysis, of which 485 (49.7%) presen-ted DVT. The Constans scale had a better diagnostic performance among inpatients and outpatients with an area under the ROC curve of 0.73 (95% 0.70-0.78) when compared with classic Wells, modified Wells, Oudega and CEBI. When we compared Constans performance in both groups of patients separately, we observed better per-formance with respect to the other scores. Conclusion: The Constans scale presents a better diagnostic performance compared to the other scales when applied to inpatients and outpatients.

Background: Classical trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is characterized by sudden, severe facial pain, typically resulting from a neurovascular conflict affecting the trigeminal nerve. In rare cases, both nerves are affected simultaneously causing bilateral TN (BTN), increasing the complexity of the treatment. Microvascular decompression (MVD) is a well-established treatment for TN; however, the experience with immediate consecutive bilateral MVD procedures is limited and requires further evaluation. Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of immediate consecutive bilateral MVD in patients with severe BTN compared to non-consecutive bilateral MVD procedures. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 15 patients with BTN who underwent bilateral MVD. The data on clinical presentation, surgical technique, perioperative findings, complications, and follow-up outcomes of three cases of BTN treated with consecutive bilateral MVD surgeries were analyzed and compared to 12 who received separated procedures. Moreover, a detailed presentation of the three cases of consecutive MVD is provided to illustrate clinical decision-making, surgical nuances, and individual outcomes. Results: Both groups achieved significant pain relief (p < 0.001) without notable differences in Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) pain intensity score (p = 0.305), indicating that both approaches were equally effective. The consecutive MVD group experienced a shorter total surgical duration (p = 0.025), while postoperative complications were comparable (p = 0.077), mostly transient with no major adverse events or mortality. At the last follow-up, the patients remained pain-free without recurrence of TN symptoms. Conclusion: Consecutive bilateral MVD is a safe and effective option, comparable to non-consecutive procedures for treating BTN. This approach provides a viable alternative for patients with severe bilateral symptoms or when medical constraints limit the possibility of two separate surgeries. Heat shock factor 2 (HSF2) is a versatile transcription factor that regulates gene expression under stress conditions, during development, and in disease. Despite recent advances in characterizing HSF2‐dependent target genes, little is known about the protein networks associated with this transcription factor. In this study, we performed co‐immunoprecipitation coupled with mass spectrometry analysis to identify the HSF2 interactome in mouse testes, where HSF2 is required for normal sperm development. Endogenous HSF2 was discovered to form a complex with several adhesion‐associated proteins, a finding substantiated by mass spectrometry analysis conducted in human prostate carcinoma PC‐3 cells. Notably, this group of proteins included the focal adhesion adapter protein talin‐1 (TLN1). Through co‐immunoprecipitation and proximity ligation assays, we demonstrate the conservation of the HSF2‐TLN1 interaction from mouse to human. Additionally, employing sequence alignment analyses, we uncovered a TLN1‐binding motif in the HSF2 C terminus that binds directly to multiple regions of TLN1 in vitro. We provide evidence that the 25 C‐terminal amino acids of HSF2, fused to EGFP, are sufficient to establish a protein complex with TLN1 and modify cell–cell adhesion in human cells. Importantly, this TLN1‐binding motif is absent in the C‐terminus of a closely related HSF family member, HSF1, which does not form a complex with TLN1. These results highlight the unique molecular characteristics of HSF2 in comparison to HSF1. Taken together, our data unveil the protein partners associated with HSF2 in a physiologically relevant context and identifies TLN1 as the first adhesion‐related HSF2‐interacting partner. We aimed to investigate how a ball regulation change, implemented in U15 girls' handball games, now affects game performance and shooting plays. Over 14 matches (28 observations), we included all the attacks (n = 813) and shooting plays (n = 589) with the conventional ball and all the attacks (n = 821) and shooting plays (n = 618) with the new ball performed by both teams. We used notational analysis to compare the game performance and shooting plays in these two conditions. Our main results were as follows: (i) the attack efficacy was higher with the new ball (41.9%) than with the conventional ball (36.1%); and (ii) the prevalence of the three-line defensive system was higher with the new ball (10.5%) than with the conventional ball (2.7%). It can be inferred that the new ball enabled backcourt players to execute more powerful middle- and long-range shots, leading to their adoption of deeper defensive tactics that were effective in halting advancing backcourt players. Moreover, implementing new ball regulations resulted in a significantly higher frequency of shots targeted at the upper third of the goal frame (44.4%) compared to those observed with the conventional ball (35.8%). This implies that the introduction of the new ball enhanced precision control over shot placements, resulting in an increased player preference for targeting the upper course. Lastly, goalkeepers' saving rates decreased under the new ball, highlighting the need for technical and tactical coaching, tailored to goalkeepers. The objective of this research is to present a comparative analysis using various lengths of time windows (TW) during emotion recognition, employing machine learning techniques and the portable wireless sensing device EPOC+. In this study, entropy will be utilized as a feature to evaluate the performance of different classifier models across various TW lengths, based on a dataset of EEG signals extracted from individuals during emotional stimulation. Two types of analyses were conducted: between-subjects and within-subjects. Performance measures such as accuracy, area under the curve, and Cohen's Kappa coefficient were compared among five supervised classifier models: K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Logistic Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), and Decision Trees (DT). The results indicate that, in both analyses, all five models exhibit higher performance in TW ranging from 2 to 15 seconds, with the 10 seconds TW particularly standing out for between-subjects analysis and the 5-second TW for within-subjects; furthermore, TW exceeding 20 seconds are not recommended.
