Aim: Lymphopenia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia are common problems in neonatal intensive care units. Production, consumption, and life cycles of platelets and lymphocytes in inflammatory conditions change. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between Platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neonatal morbidity.Material and Methods: The data of 201 patients who were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit in the last 2 years were analyzed retrospectively. Demographic characteristics, morbidity, and mortality data were recorded. PLRs at the first hospitalization of the patients were calculated. The relationship between PLR and chorioamnionitis, neonatal morbidities was examined. Results: Mean gestational age and birth weight of the cases were 30.9 ± 3.6 weeks and 1492 ± 660 grams, respectively. 43.3% of the cases were babies born between 28-32 weeks of gestation. PLR was found significantly higher in babies of mothers with clinical chorioamnionitis (p = 0.006), while it was significantly lower in babies with intrauterine growth restriction (p = 0.020). There was a significant correlation between maternal PLR and infant PLR (r = 0.202 p = 0.020). While no relationship was found between PLR and antenatal steroids, delivery type, multiple pregnancies, presence of maternal hypertension, and early neonatal morbidity, a significant difference was found between the groups in terms of especially in babies born from mothers with clinical chorioamnionitis., Amaç: Lenfopeni, nötropeniler ve trombositopeniler yeni doğan yoğun bakım ünitelerinde sık karşılaşılan problemlerdendir. Trombosit ve lenfositlerin inflamatuar durumlarda üretim, tüketim ve yaşam döngüleri değişmektedir. Bu çalışmada trombosit lenfosit oranları (TLO) ile yeni doğan morbiditeleri arasında ilişkinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Geriye dönük son 2 yılda yeni doğan yoğun bakım ünitesine yatışı yapılan 201 hastanın verileri incelendi. Demografik özellikleri morbidite ve mortalite verileri kaydedildi. Hastaların ilk yatışındaki trombosit lenfosit oranları hesaplandı. Trombosit lenfosit oranları ile koryoamniyonit ve yeni doğan morbiditleri arasındaki ilişki incelendi.Bulgular: Vakaların ortalama gebelik haftası ve ağırlıkları sırasıyla 30,9±3,6 hafta ve 1492±660 gram idi. Vakaların %43,3’ünü 28-32 gebelik haftasında doğan bebekler oluşturmaktaydı. TLO klinik koryoaniyonitli annelerin bebeklerinde anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunurken (p=0,006), intrauterin büyüme kısıtlılığı olan bebeklerde de anlamlı derecede düşük bulundu (p=0,020). ROC eğrisi klinik koryoamniyoniti tahmin etme gücü yönünden Max c-reaktif protein (Crp) 1. hafta ve max Crp 2. hafta ile karşılaştırıldığında TLO’nun belirgin üstün olduğu gözlemlenmiştir (Area under the curve (AUC):0,696, p=0,032). Anne TLO ve bebek TLO oranları arasında da anlamlı bir korelasyon bulunmuştur (r=0,202 p=0,020). Ultrazvuk (UZV) lubanje omogućava razlikovanje normalnog od nenormalnog u razumnom vremenu snimanja i bez zračenja. Međutim, nema dovoljno podataka o usporedbi mjerenja provedenih pomoću UZV-a glave i magnetskom rezonancom (MR) mozga za neke intrakranijske strukture u novorođenčadi. Cilj studije bio je procijeniti pouzdanost UZV glave u usporedbi s MR-om mozga. Također smo tražili referentne vrijednosti za hipofi zu i infundibulum, što je važno kad se procjenjuje postoji li zaostajanje u rastu ili nenormalan rast u ovoj populaciji. Normativna mjerenja širine 4. i 3. lateralnog ventrikula, dužina i širina korpusa kalozuma (CC), biventrikulska širina (BVW) i biparijetalni promjer (BPD) prospektivno su bilježeni u 95-ero zdrave terminske novorođenčadi na UZV-u glave i MR-u mozga. Uz te poznate strukture, na MR-u smo također mjerili visinu hipofi ze, debljinu infundibuluma, visinu i širinu cerebeluma. Usporedba UZV-a lubanje i MR-a mozga pokazala je dobru korelaciju za BPD, širinu splenija i koljena CC-a, anteroposteriornu dužinu CC-a i širinu 3. ventrikula (κ=0,88-0,99). Korelacija je bila slaba za BVW, širinu korpusa CC-a i širinu lateralnih ventrikula (κ=0,28-0,56). Nove normativne vrijednosti za visinu hipofi ze i debljinu peteljke u novorođenačkoj dobi novi su nalazi ove prospektivne studije. U zaključku, mjerenja zabilježena pomoću UZV-a lubanje i MR-a nisu bila dosljedna u nekim moždanim strukturama. Bitno je znati normativne vrijednosti i diferencirati prirođene i razvojne anomalije mozga u novorođečadi. Također su utvrđene nove referentne vrijednosti za hipofi zu i infundibulum u novorođenačkoj dobi., Cranial ultrasonography (US) enables diff erentiation of normal from abnormal in a reasonable scanning time and without radiation. However, there is not enough data comparing measurements of cranial US and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for some intracranial structures in the neonatal period. We aimed to assess the reliability of cranial US compared with brain MRI. We also sought reference values of the pituitary gland and infundibulum, which is important in searching for growth retardation or abnormal growth in this population. Normative measurements of the width of the 4th, 3rd and lateral ventricles, length and width of the corpus callosum (CC), biventricular width (BVW), and biparietal diameter (BPD) were prospectively obtained from 95 healthy fullterm neonates on both cranial US and brain MRI. Besides the well-known structures, the height of the pituitary gland, thickness of the infundibulum, height and width of the cerebellum were measured on MRI. Comparison of cranial US and brain MRI showed good correlation in the BPD, width of the splenium and genu of CC, anteroposterior length of CC, and width of the 3rd ventricle (κ=0.88- 0.99). Correlation was poor in BVW, width of the corpus of CC, and width of the lateral ventricles (κ=0.28-0.56). New normative values of the height of pituitary gland and thickness of the stalk in the neonatal period are novel fi ndings of this prospective study. In conclusion, cranial US and MRI measurements were not consistent in some brain structures. It is crucial to know the normative values, and to diff erentiate congenital and developmental brain anomalies in the neonatal period. The new reference values of the pituitary gland and infundibulum were also established in this period.

Amaç: SGA doğan infantlar yetişkin hayatta birçok riskle karşı karşıyadırlar. Postnatal hayatta çoğu ilk 6 ay içerisinde hızlı bir büyüme göstererek yaşıtlarının büyüme yüzdelerini yakalarlar. Bu çalışmada sağlıklı term SGA infantların büyümeyi yakalamaya etkisi olan perinatal prediktif faktörler incelendi. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya sağlıklı 73 term SGA infant katıldı. Her hasta için prenatal, natal ve postnatal bilgi formu dolduruldu. İnfantların 0, 1, 6 ve 12. aylarda fiziki incelemeleri yapıldı ve geçmişe yönelik anamnez formu dolduruldu. Muayene sırasında kilo, boy ve baş çevresi gibi büyüme ile ilgili parametreler kaydedildi. Postnatal dönemde büyümeyi yakalama kriteri olarak referans toplumun büyüme eğrilerinde 10. persentilin üzerine çıkma olarak tanımlandı. Büyümeyi yakalama üzerine SPSS 10.0 kullanılarak perinatal, natal ve postnatal faktörlerin etkisi araştırıldı. Bulgular: Bulgular 1. ayda catch-up (CU) grubundaki infantların boyu non-catchup (NCU) grubundakilerden anlamlı derecede daha uzun idi. 6. aydaki CU grubunun APGAR skorları, 6.ayda ölçülen boy ve baş çevresi, 12. ayda boy ölçümleri NCU grubuna göre daha fazla bulundu.12. aydaki NCU grubunda diğer enfeksiyonlar ve D vitamini kullanımı CU grubuna göre daha fazla bulundu. Vakaların 12. aydaki boy ve baş çevreleri NCU grubuna göre daha fazla bulundu. Sonuç: SGA'lı doğan infantların postnatal büyüme paternlerini ve büyüme hızlarını takip etmek son derece önemlidir. Sağlıklı term SGA infantlar için postnatal büyümeyi yakalamada boy ve baş çevresi ve APGAR skorunun pozitif belirleyici, D vitamini ve diğer enfeksiyonların negatif belirleyiciler olarak kullanılabilir. Ve ilk aylarda büyümeyi yakalayan infantların büyüme hızlarını özellikle ilk 6 ay koruyabilecekleri öngörülebilir., Aim: Infants born small for gestational age (SGA) confront many problems in adulthood. Most of them catch up with their peer as growth in the first six months. In this study, we investigated the perinatal predictive factors that influence postnatal catch-up growth in the term SGA infants.Material and Method: The study included seventy-three term, healthy infants. Prenatal, natal, and postnatal information forms were filled for each infant. Infants were examined in 0, 1, 6, and 12th months. The information form was recorded. At the examination time parameters concerning growth like weight, length, and head circumference were recorded. Postnatal growth catch-up was defined as above the 10th centile according to the reference population growth curves. By the SPSS 10,0 version for windows prenatal, natal and postnatal factors that influence postnatal catch-up growth were investigated.Results: Infants in the Catch up (CU) group at the first month were significantly taller than the non-catch-up (NCU) group. APGAR scores of the group CU at the sixth month were significantly more increased than group NCU. Length and head circumference of the sixth month and body length of the twelfth month were significantly more increased than the NCU group at the sixth month. Other infections and usage of vitamin D in the group NCU in the twelfth month were significantly more increased than the group CU. Length and head circumference at the twelfth month in group CU were significantly more increased than group NCU.Conclusion: For infants with born SGA, it is very important to follow up postnatal growth patterns and growth velocity. Body length, head circumference, and APGAR scores can be a positive predictor for the postnatal growth catch up for healthy term SGA infants. The usage of vitamin D and other infections can also be negative predictors. Infants that catch up growth first few months may anticipate that will be continued growth velocity for six months.
