Movable cheliceral digit edentate on proximal end. Each medial branch of peritremes with 5���7 chambers, each lateral branch with ill-visible chambers. Idiosoma. Propodonotal shield absent. Setae vi situated distinctly posterior to level of setae ve. Setae se and c1 situated at same transverse level. Setae vi, ve and si lightly beaded. Pygidial shield well developed, with vertical furrow, double-leaf, apunctate. Setae ag2 situated posterolateral to ag1. Large, punctate genital plate bearing setae ag1���3. Setae g1 filiform, situated on sharp-ended genital lobes. All coxal fields punctate. Legs. Paraxial claws of legs III and IV thiner than antaxial claws III���IV. Solenidia �� on genua I setiform. Mesurements. Total body length 495. Length of stylophore 125. All type material is deposited in the AMU, except 1 female (PF) paratype in ZSM and 1 female (PF) paratype in ZISP. Differential diagnosis. Picobia magellani sp. nov. is morphologically most simillar to P. schmidti Glowska and Milensky, 2014. In females of both species, the hypostomal apex is tapering; the lateral branches of the peritremes are with ill-visible chambers; setae vi are situated distinctly posterior to the level of setae ve; the pygidial shield is double-leaf, each with 1 spin-like outhgrowth; setae ag2 are situated posterolateral to ag1. This new species differs from P. schmidti as follow: in females of P. m a g e l l a n i, the propodonotal shield is absent; the length ratios of setae ve: si and f1: f2 are 1:1.5 and 1:1. In females of P. schmidti, the lateral propodonotal shields are present, each bearing bases of setae ve and si; the length ratios of setae ve: si and f1: f2 are 1:4 and 1:1.8���2.3. Etymology. Propodonotal shield divided into 2 wide lateral shields bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and se, and large unpaired medial shield bearing bases of setae c1. Opisthonotal and genital lobes absent. Bases of setae 1a coalesced. Pseudanal setal series represented by 2 pairs. Genital setae absent. Apodemes I without thorn-like protuberances. Legs with full complement of solenidia. Physogastric form with distinctly enlarged idiosoma, worm-shaped in outline. MALE. Features as in females except: peritremes M-shaped; propodonotal shield entire, bearing bases of all propodonotal setae except c2; genital setal series represented by 2 pairs. Species included. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3 chambers, and lateral branch with 4 chambers. Stylophore densely punctate. Idiosoma. Propodonotal shield densely punctate in anterior half; 4 apunctate patches present. Setae vi, ve and si beaded. Setae c1 situated slightly anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shields absent. Pygidial shield apunctate, pear-like in shape. Agenital and genital plates absent. Setae ag2 situated slightly posteromedial to setae ag3. Pseudanal setae ps1 short but not as microsetae. Coxal fields I punctate, II–IV apunctate. Legs. Claws of legs III and IV equal in size. Apodemes I without thorn-like protuberances. Measurements. Total body length 560. Length of stylophore 120. Female holotype from Pluvialis apricaria (Linnaeus) (Charadriiformes: Charadriidae), FRANCE: St. Malo, 1970, no other data. Type deposition. Holotype in AMU. Differential diagnosis. Female of Charadriineopicobia apricaria sp. nov. differs from two other described species of this genus by the absence of the hysteronotal shields; presence of short pseudanal setae but not as miocrosetae, and by the position of agenital setae ag2 which are situated posteromedial to setae ag3. In females of Ch. calidris and Ch. leucophaeus, the hysteronotal shield is present; pseudanal setae are as microsetae and setae ag2 are situated anteromedial to setae ag3. Etymology. The name of this species refers to specific name of the host— Pluvialis apricaria.
