Abstract

ilustraciones, fotografías, graficas La planeación del movimiento para sistemas robóticos (o simplemente robots, o vehículos) es un problema bastante bien estudiado. Resultados significativos se han obtenido en la literatura y se han llevado a la práctica en la industria y otros usos comerciales. Sin embargo, altos costos computacionales y simplificaciones hechas en la formulación de los problemas presentan retos abiertos y oportunidades de investigación. Este trabajo presenta estrategias para ayudar en la solución del problema de navegación, y otros relacionados, en cuatro escenarios: Cuando no se conoce el Modelo que describe el vehículo, No se conoce la posición ni orientación del vehículo, no se conoce el Mapa del lugar, Y cuando no se conoce la intención (aliado/adversario) de otros robots en el ambiente. Primero, se presenta una estrategia que usa ambientes simulados realísticos para superar la falta de modelo del vehículo o las dificulatades que conlleven su cálculo. Los ambientes simulados se han beneficiado de las mejoras en los sistemas computarizados de la última década; por ejempo, los juegos de computadora han progresivamente mostrado ambientes más y más realistas, y estos han sido ya usados para entrenar robots al mostrarle a los sensores del robot esta información como cierta, de tal forma que se logra que los robots aprendan de secuencias del juego, de esta misma forma, en este trabajo se usan los simuladores para ayudar a resolver el problema de la navegación. También se presenta un esquema de planeación basado en la retro alimentación para un sencillo robot que rebota, mostrando cómo dicho robot puede navegar ambientes complejos sin saber su posición en todo momento. Por supuesto el mapa debe ser conocido para crear tal esquema de planeación, cuando no se conoce el mapa, la estrategia conocida como Localización y Mapeo Simultaneos, puede usarse para determinar el mapa alrededor y encontrarse en el mismo. Finalmente, cuando se consideran robots más simples, puede llegar a ser necesario usar más de un robot para cumplir una tarea, y puede que en el ambiente hayan robots adversarios, por lo tanto, se presenta una estrategia que permite comunicarse para evitar colisiones que mantiene la privacidad al mismo tiempo. (Texto tomado de la fuente) The problem of Motion Planning for Robotic Systems (in this work: robot or vehicles) has been well studied. Some significant outcomes have been accomplished, and good results demonstrated in practical situations in industry and other commercial uses. Nevertheless, high computational cost and several assumptions on the problems present open challenges and opportunities for research. This work presents strategies to help in the solution of the navigation and other related problems for four different scenarios: unknown vehicle model, unknown positions/orientation of the vehicle, unknown map to navigate and unknown intention of other vehicles in the same environment. First, realistic simulation is used to overcome the lack of a model, or the difficulties to calculate it. Simulated environments have taken advantage of the improvements in computer systems in the last decades; for example, computer games have progressively shown more realistic environments, these environments have already been used to train models by fooling the sensors of robots and making them to learn from gameplays, in this fashion, simulators are used here to help solving the navigation problem. It is also presented here a feedback-based motion planer for a simple bouncing robot, showing how it can navigate a complex world even if the current position is not know all the time. Of course the map must be known before hand to create such a plan, for the case where the map is not known a priori, a strategy for simultaneous localization and mapping is presented here to determine the world around and the position of the vehicle in such map. Finally, when considering simpler robots, it might be necessary to use multiple of them to succeed at a particular task, and they might also be in the presence of a third party robot, hence, a strategy is presented here to communicate and avoid collisions while preserving privacy. Abstract

This review comprises the most extensive literature search and evidence evaluation to date on the most important international BLS interventions, diagnostics, and prognostic factors for cardiac arrest victims. It reemphasizes that the critical lifesaving steps of BLS are (1) prevention, (2) immediate recognition and activation of the emergency response system, (3) early high-quality CPR, and (4) rapid defibrillation for shockable rhythms. Highlights in prevention indicate the rational and judicious deployment of search-and-rescue operations in drowning victims and the importance of education on opioid-associated emergencies. Other 2015 highlights in recognition and activation include the critical role of dispatcher recognition and dispatch-assisted chest compressions, which has been demonstrated in multiple international jurisdictions with consistent improvements in cardiac arrest survival. Similar to the 2010 ILCOR BLS treatment recommendations, the importance of high quality was reemphasized across all measures of CPR quality: rate, depth, recoil, and minimal chest compression pauses, with a universal understanding that we all should be providing chest compressions to all victims of cardiac arrest. This review continued to focus on the interface of BLS sequencing and ensuring high-quality CPR with other important BLS interventions, such as ventilation and defibrillation. In addition, this consensus statement highlights the importance of EMS systems, which employ bundles of care focusing on providing high-quality chest compressions while extricating the patient from the scene to the next level of care. Highlights in defibrillation indicate the global importance of increasing the number of sites with public-access defibrillation programs. Abstract

Geranium seemannii Peyr is a perennial plant endemic to central Mexico that has been widely used for its diuretic effect, but the responsible compound of this effect is unknown as well as the mechanism by which the diuretic effect is achieved. Geraniin is one of the compounds isolated from this kind of geranium. This study was designed to determinate whether geraniin possesses diuretic activity and to elucidate the mechanism of action. Geraniin was extracted and purified from Geranium seemannii Peyr. Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: 1) Control, 2) 75 mg/kg of geraniin, 3) 20 mg/kg of furosemide, and 4) 10 mg/kg of hydrochlorothiazide. Each treatment was administered by gavage every 24 h for 7 days. The urinary excretion of electrolytes and the fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) were determined. To uncover the molecular target of geraniin, Xenopus laevis oocytes were microinjected with cRNAs encoding the Na+-Cl- cotransporter (NCC) and the Na+-K+-2Cl- cotransporter NKCC2 to functionally express these cotransporters. Geraniin significantly increased diuresis, natriuresis, and calciuresis to a similar extent as was observed in the furosemide-treated rats. Consistent with the furosemide-like effect, in X. laevis oocytes, geraniin significantly reduced the activity of NKCC2, with no effect on NCC activity. In contrast to furosemide, the effect of geraniin on NKCC2 was irreversible, apparently due to its inhibitory effect on heat shock protein 90. Abstract

A silicone prosthesis for pre-ischiatic implantation is presented and described; it is used in operations of pressure sores in this area. It has been placed in nine cases, with satisfactory results.The use of this prosthesis is recommended when the patient's psychic, social and economic conditions are precarious and when the fibrosis close to ulceration may be eliminated in the operation, but the transfer on the ischium of the adjacent musculature is problematic.The author suggests to increase the use of this prosthesis prescription, implanting it as a usual restoration procedure and as a prophylactic method in special cases.

Abstract: It has been postulated that in blood vessels under α1-related stimulation, the endothelial intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+] i ) increases, which is necessary to induce nitric oxide synthesis, is the result of an increase in vascular smooth muscle, which subsequently, flows into the endothelial cells through gap junctions and it is not the result of a direct adrenergic stimulation of endothelial receptors. Others, however, postulate that endothelial α1D-adrenoceptors, have a direct effect on nitric oxide synthesis. In order to clarify this phenomena, in this work we analyzed the presence of α1receptor subtypes and their functional association with nitric oxide synthesis in rat coronary microvascular endothelial cells in culture, with pharmacological, immunological and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction approaches. Our results show the presence and functional coupling with nitric oxide synthesis of α1A and α1D-adrenoceptor subtypes. α1B-adrenoceptor subtype is not coupled with nitric oxide production. Abstract

Geranium seemannii Peyr is a perennial plant endemic to central Mexico that has been widely used for its diuretic effect, but the responsible compound of this effect is unknown as well as the mechanism by which the diuretic effect is achieved. Geraniin is one of the compounds isolated from this kind of geranium. This study was designed to determinate whether geraniin possesses diuretic activity and to elucidate the mechanism of action. Geraniin was extracted and purified from Geranium seemannii Peyr. Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: 1) Control, 2) 75 mg/kg of geraniin, 3) 20 mg/kg of furosemide, and 4) 10 mg/kg of hydrochlorothiazide. Each treatment was administered by gavage every 24 h for 7 days. The urinary excretion of electrolytes and the fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) were determined. To uncover the molecular target of geraniin, Xenopus laevis oocytes were microinjected with cRNAs encoding the Na + -Cl - cotransporter (NCC) and the Na + -K + -2Cl - cotransporter NKCC2 to functionally express these cotransporters. Geraniin significantly increased diuresis, natriuresis, and calciuresis to a similar extent as was observed in the furosemide-treated rats. Consistent with the furosemide-like effect, in X. laevis oocytes, geraniin significantly reduced the activity of NKCC2, with no effect on NCC activity. In contrast to furosemide, the effect of geraniin on NKCC2 was irreversible, apparently due to its inhibitory effect on heat shock protein 90. Our observations suggest that geraniin could have a potential role in the treatment of hypertension or edematous states.

Abstract

It has been postulated that in blood vessels under alpha(1)-related stimulation, the endothelial intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca(2+)](i)) increases, which is necessary to induce nitric oxide synthesis, is the result of an increase in vascular smooth muscle, which subsequently, flows into the endothelial cells through gap junctions and it is not the result of a direct adrenergic stimulation of endothelial receptors. Others, however, postulate that endothelial alpha(1D)-adrenoceptors, have a direct effect on nitric oxide synthesis. In order to clarify this phenomena, in this work we analyzed the presence of alpha(1)receptor subtypes and their functional association with nitric oxide synthesis in rat coronary microvascular endothelial cells in culture, with pharmacological, immunological and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction approaches. Our results show the presence and functional coupling with nitric oxide synthesis of alpha(1A) and alpha(1D)-adrenoceptor subtypes. alpha(1B)-adrenoceptor subtype is not coupled with nitric oxide production.

Abstract

Aromatase CYP19 catalyzes the synthesis of estrogen from androgens in a tissue-specific manner. This enzyme is present in several tissues, including gonads, brain and fatty tissue. More recently, its presence has been described in vessels. Here, we describe the expression of aromatase in human uterine artery and compare its expression with that found in arteries of estrogen-dependent uterine leiomyomata from women. To do this, we employed immunohystochemical and in situ hybridization techniques. We used, a polyclonal antibody raised against the carboxyl terminus of aromatase (ARO) and RNAm probes, of the exon 1 of ARO. We found an increased immunoreactivity of ARO in uterine arteries of patients with leiomyoma as compared with control group. Probe showing positive signal in skin fibroblasts (1b), showed positive hybridization signal in normal artery, while probes with positive signal in placenta (1a), ovary (1c) and testis (1d) were over-expressed in arteries of leiomyomas.
