This study made for concepts related to biotechnology research trends between the years 2000-2020 graduate thesis in the field of science in Turkey, offers a descriptive content analysis. Within the aim of the study, a total of 65 postgraduate theses were examined by scanning the database of the YOK National Thesis Center. In this study, in which document analysis, one of the qualitative research designs, was used, theses were analyzed according to years, universities, study subjects, concepts, methods, data collection tools, sampling and sample size. According to the results obtained from the findings, it has been observed that the theses are predominantly master's theses, the postgraduate theses made in the field of science education related to biotechnological concepts were carried out in a total of 27 universities and the theses were mainly done in Gazi University, İnönü University and Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University. According to the subject distribution, it has been observed that the theses are predominantly focused on learning, attitude/perception/interest and teaching. In addition, it has been concluded that quantitative studies are mostly used in the examined theses, and empirical designs among quantitative research methods are preferred more than non-experimental designs. As data collection tools, mostly skill, attitude, perception, personality, etc. tests, achievement tests, Likert type questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used and it was observed that the most preferred sample group was university and high school students and the sample size was mostly between 101-300, 31-100. Based on the results of the study, researchers can focus on more detailed analysis in biotechnology education through meta-analysis.

Bu çalışmada, biyoteknoloji eğitimi alanında yayınlanan bilimsel makalelerin bibliyometrik göstergeler açısından analizi yapılarak alandaki eğilimlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla biyoteknoloji eğitimi alanında yapılan bibliyometrik analiz ile 1998-2021 yılları arasında yayınlanan 81 makaledeki eğilimler ortaya konmuştur. Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanında “biotechnology”, “genetic engineering” modified organisms”, “cloning” and “biotechnology education” anahtar kelime grupları kullanılarak tarama yapılmıştır. Çalışmada verileri analiz etmek amacıyla VOSviewer programı kullanılarak yıllara göre yayın sayıları, yayınların dergilere göre dağılımı, yayın yapan en aktif beş dergi, yıllara göre makalelere yapılan atıf sayısı, en fazla atıf alan beş çalışma, biyoteknoloji eğitiminde en fazla yayın yapan ilk 20 ülke, bibliyografik eşleştirmenin ülkelere ve dokümanlara dayalı ağ haritalaması, atıfların yazarlara, dokümanlara ve üniversitelere dayalı ağ haritalaması, çalışmaların ortak atıf bakımından alıntı yapılan kaynaklara dayalı ağ haritalaması, çalışmaların ortak yazarlık bakımından yazarlara ve üniversitelere dayalı ağ haritalaması ve atıfların ülkelere dayalı ağ haritalaması incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışmada bibliyometrik analiz kullanılmasının biyoteknoloji eğitimi ile ilgili yapılan çalışmaları betimleyeceğinden bilimsel üretime bir bakış açısı sağlayacağı ve alandaki eğilimleri belirleyeceği düşünülmektedir.

Bu çalışmada marketlerde satılmakta olan üç farklı markaya ait poşet bitki ve meyve çaylarının toplam fenolik, toplam flavonoid bileşen içerikleri ve antioksidan kapasiteleri belirlenmiştir. Poşet çayların antioksidan aktivitelerinin tayininde, % DPPH (2,2-Difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) radikal giderme aktivitesi ve indirgeme gücü metotları kullanılmıştır. Poşet çayların toplam fenolik ve toplam flavonoid değerleri sırasıyla 6.46-83.87 (mg GAE/g) ve 3.54 - 35.16 mg CE/g olarak belirlenmiştir. Analizi yapılan her üç markada % DPPH radikal giderme aktivitesi % 63-95 arasında değişkenlik göstermiştir. İndirgeyici güç değeri ise 0.267-0.456 arasında bulunmuştur., Total phenolic, flavonoid and antioxidant capacity of some commercially bagged herbal and fruit teas which belong to 3 different labels in Turkey’s markets were measured. % DPPH radical scavenging activity and reducing power were used for determining antioxidant activity. Total phenolic and flavonoid content of bagged teas were found as 6.46-83.87 (mg GAE/g) and 3.54 - 35.16 mg CE/g respectively. For all bagged herbal and fruit teas DPPH radical scavenging activity and reducing power were found as 63-95% and 0.267-0.456 respectively.

Bu çalışmanın amacı; Cyberknife ile gerçekleştirilen intrakranial tedavilerde IRIS kolimatör ve MLC ile yapılan planların kalitelerini değerlendirmek ve karşılaştırmaktır. Değerlendirme yapılırken homojenite, konformalite, gradiyent indeks, Monitör Unit ve tedavi süresi parametreleri kullanıldı. Tedavi planları oluşturulurken kritik organların maksimum derecede korunması sağlanırken reçete edilen dozun %100’ünün, hedef hacmin %95’ini sarmasına dikkat edildi. Beyin metastazlı 10 olgunun, iki farklı kolimatör kullanılarak farklı lokalizasyonlarda bulunan hedef hacimlere yönelik, tedavi planları yapıldı. Planlarda reçete edilen doz 3 fraksiyonda 18 Gy olarak tanımlandı. Doğru bir karşılaştırma yapabilmek için IRIS kolimatör ve MLC için kullanılan planlama parametreleri, her bir olgu için sabit tutuldu. Reçete edilen doz minumum %80’lik izodoz eğrisine tanımlandı. HI, nCI, GI değerleri için iki ayrı planlama arasında istatistiksel anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı (p>0,05). CI, IRIS ile yapılan planlarda MLC’ye göre daha düşük, MU ve tedavi süreleri için ise MLC ile yapılan planlarda IRIS kolimatöre göre oldukça düşük değerler elde edildi ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark vardır (p

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı 2010-2019 yılları arasında bilimsel okuryazarlık alanında Türkiye’ de yayımlanan çalışmaların içerik analizini yapmak ve bu çalışmaların eğilimlerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla bilimsel okuryazarlık kavramı ile ilgili araştırmalar türü, yılı, amacı, örneklem düzeyi, örneklem sayısı, örneklem seçim şekli, yöntem ve deseni, veri toplama araçları, verilerin analiz şekli, tezlerin yayımlandığı üniversiteler ve makalelerin yayımlandığı dergiler açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Yöntem: Çalışma yöntemi nitel araştırma yöntem türlerinden doküman incelemesidir. Araştırmada toplam 55 yüksek lisans, 7 doktora tezi ve 28 makale analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen çalışmalar yayın sınıflama formundan yararlanarak sınıflandırılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışma sonucunda bilimsel okuryazarlık çalışmalarının en fazla yüksek lisans tezi olduğu, en fazla çalışmanın 2019 yılında yayımlandığı, örneklem olarak daha çok ortaokul-lise öğrencileri üzerinde çalışıldığı ve örneklem şekli olarak daha çok kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem seçildiği görülmüştür. İncelenen çalışmalarda daha çok nicel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmalar amaçlarına göre sınıflandırıldığında, çoğunlukla bilimsel okuryazarlık ile çeşitli değişkenler arasındaki ilişkilerin belirlendiği çalışmalar tespit edilmiştir. Bilimsel okuryazarlık alanında Marmara Üniversitesi’nde diğer üniversitelere göre daha fazla tez çalışmasının yapıldığı sonucu elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, araştırmacıların tezlerden yayın üretmeye teşvik edilmesi önerilebilir.Kolay örnekleme yöntemleri yerine tabakalı örnekleme, rastgele örnekleme, sistematik örnekleme vb. kullanılmalıdır;ortaokul-lise grupları dışındaki gruplarla da çalışılmalıdır., Purpose: The purpose of this study to examine the scientific publications published in the field of scientific literacy between the years of 2010 and 2019 in the Turkey and to reveal trends. For this purpose, publications related to scientific literacy were evaluated in terms of publication type, date, aims, type of sample, number of sample, selection of sample, methods, data collection tools, data analysis techniques, subject areas, the publishing journal and universities where thesis are published. Design & Methodology: In this study, a qualitative research method, document review was used. A total of 55 Master’s theses, 7 PhD theses dissertations and 28 articles were analyzed. The obtained works have been classified by using the publication classification form. Findings: As a result of the study, it was observed that scientific literacy studies were mostly master’s theses, the most studies were published in 2019, mostly secondary school-high school students were studied as a sample, and a more easily accessible sample was chosen as the sample. Quantitative research methods were mostly used in the studies. When the studies are classified according to their purposes, it has been determined that mostly the relationships between scientific literacy and various independent variables are determined. In addition, it was found that more thesis studies were done at Marmara University compared to other universities. Implications & Suggestion: According to the results of the study, it can be suggested that researchers should be encouraged to produce publication from theses.Instead of easy sampling methods; stratified sampling, random sampling, systematic sampling etc. should be used; it should also be worked with groups other than the secondary school-high school group.

In this study, it was aimed to adapt the “New Generation Science Standards Questionnaire” developed by Campbell, Lee, Longhurst, McKenna, Coster , and Lundgren (2021), into Turkish. The original scale form consists of four main factors and 35 items. Original scale factors: Understanding scientific explanations, generating scientific evidence, reflecting on scientific knowledge, participating productively in science. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) study group of the research consists of 408 secondary school 7th and 8th grade students, and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) study group consists of 799 secondary school 7th and 8th grade students. EFA was used to examine the construct validity of the scale, and translation studies were conducted to examine the language validity. As a result of the EFA, a structure consisting of 30 items and 4 factors was obtained. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, it was observed that the values of the fit indices were within the acceptable value limits. Finally, Cronbach's Alpha values for the reliability of the scale tool in terms of internal consistency were calculated and it was seen that the Turkish version of the New Generation Science Standards Scale was a valid and reliable measurement tool with adequate psychometric properties.

It is aimed to compare target volume and critical organ doses using Volumeric arc therapy (VMAT) technique for Whole body irradiation (TVI) and Whole bone marrow irradiation (TKI). In the study, a random phantom with human tissue and organ densities was used.. VMAT plans were created with a daily fraction dose of 6 Gy and a total dose of 12 Gy. Target volumes and dose values received by critical organs were compared. Treatment plans The mean lung dose for VMAT-TVI is 7.6 Gy and the lens dose is 4.4 Gy, while organs at risk (OAR) doses for VMAT-TKI range from 2.7 to 7.15 Gy. In addition, pre-treatment quality control for both plans, dose accuracy between planned and administered doses using the Octavius 4D phantom, gamma index analysis with 3mm and 3% criteria in all 3 planes, we found that ≤1 for both treatment plans. We observed a very precise dose distribution between the planned and administered treatment. It was concluded that in both treatment techniques, the target volume received the desired dose, but in the VMAT-TBI technique, dose homogeneity and treatment application techniques should be improved. It was determined that other RAOs other than the lung were also better protected with TMI. As a result of our study, it was concluded that VMAT may be a suitable technique for both TBI and TMI application compared to traditional techniques in the future.

Apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.), which belongs to the genus Prunus, is one of the most commonly commercialized fruits produced in Turkey. Apricot pomace, the most common byproduct of apricot nectar processing, is the press residue of the fruit flesh. Ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE) is known as one of the most efficient techniques for separation of valuable ingredients from raw materials with enhanced extraction yield. In this study, UAE parameters (temperature and time) were optimized by using Response Surface Methodology with a central composite design for maximization of the total phenolic and flavonoid contents as well as the antiradical (DPPH scavenging) activity and extraction yield. Phenolic composition and CUPRAC, ABTS and FRAP values of the extract at the highest extraction yield point was also determined. In the results, the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents, antiradical activity and extraction efficiency were determined as 1.206 mg GAE/g DM, 1.015 mg CE/g DM, 79.85% and 7.86% in apricot pomace samples at 50 °C and 90 min trial points, respectively. HPLC–DAD showed that p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid and rutin were the most abundant phenolics found in the extract. CUPRAC, ABTS and FRAP values of the extract were 30.00, 32.30 and 18.80 mg TE/100 g, respectively. In conclusion, this study provided valuable findings to food industry and other related fields for extraction of valuable bioactive compounds from apricot pomace using UAE as an eco-friendly extraction technique.

The aim of this thesis study is to ensure the sustainability of the Turkish banking sector by considering the environmental, economic and social effects of different practices still existing in human rights, working conditions, management structure, health, safety, education, governance, energy consumption and financial functions of banks operating in Turkey. For this purpose, the corporate sustainability performance of the banks operating in Turkey and included in the BIST sustainability index, published between 2017-2019, is measured in comparison with the multidimensional corporate sustainability approach and evaluated according to the measurement results. Thus, it will be possible to determine how much the banks that have adopted the corporate sustainability approach have developed their corporate sustainability understanding and the level they have reached. It is very important to reveal the economic, environmental and social effects of banks operating in Turkey, which voluntarily accept to be included in the BIST sustainability index, due to the ability of banks to influence and even direct all sectors. In addition, data that are not included in the reviewed sustainability reports but are expected to be disclosed will also be specified. The corporate sustainability performance of the banks, which are the subject of the review, was evaluated using the TOPSIS method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods.

Erken evre meme kanserli hastalarda hızlandırılmış kısmi meme ışınlamasında Volümetrik Ark Terapi (VMAT) ve CyberKnife teknikleri kullanılarak hedef volüm ile kritik organ dozlarının karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma için radyoterapi almış 10 erken evre meme kanseri tanılı hasta seçilerek, günlük fraksiyon dozu 6 Gy ve toplam doz 30 Gy olacak şekilde VMAT ve CyberKnife (SBRT) sanal planları oluşturuldu. Homojenite indeksi (HI), konformite indeksi (CI), tedavi süresi (s), görünür hedef volümü (GTV) ve kritik organların aldığı doz değerleri karşılaştırıldı. Tedavi planları arasında GTV’nin D max (p=0,002) değeri VMAT tekniği lehine anlamlı fark bulundu. Aynı taraf memenin 30 Gy (V 30) (p=0,013) ve 15 Gy alan (V 15) volüm değerlerinin (p=0,007) CyberKnife tekniğinde daha az doz aldığı görüldü. Karşı memenin Dmax (p=0,218) değeri açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Sağ meme yerleşimli olgularda kalbin D max (p=0,282) ve 1,5 Gy alan (V1,5 ) volümü için (p=0,548) anlamlı fark bulunmadı. Sol meme yerleşimli olgularda kalbin Dmax (p=0,095) değerinde anlamlı fark görülmedi; ancak kalbin 1,5 Gy alan (V 1,5 ) volüm değerinin (p=0,008) CyberKnife tekniğinde daha düşük olduğu görüldü. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının “sera etkisi” kavramıyla ilgili bilişsel yapılarını Kelime İlişkilendirme Testi (KİT) ve Yaz-Çiz-Anlat (YÇA) Tekniği aracılığıyla belirlemektir. Yöntem: Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgu bilim desenine göre tasarlanan çalışmada, içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışma 2019- 2020 akademik yılı bahar yarıyılında 63 fen bilgisi öğretmen adayı ile yürütülmüştür.Bulgular: KİT ile elde edilen bulgulara göre, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının “sera etkisi” ile ilgili bilişsel yapılarında bulunan kavramlar “sera etkisinin gerçekleştiği yerler”, “sera etkisinin nedenleri” “sera etkisinin sonuçları” ve “kavram yanılgıları” olmak üzere dört kategoridedir. YÇA Tekniğiyle elde edilen bulgular, öğretmen adaylarının kavram ile ilgili %52.4 oranında “bilimsel olmayan ve yüzeysel”; %30.2 oranında “kavram yanılgıları” içeren; %15.9 oranında “bilimsel” bir bilişsel yapıları olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının sera etkisi ile ilgili bazı kavram yanılgılarına ve bilimsel olmayan-yüzeysel bilişsel yapıya sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Bu çalışmanın bulgularına göre, fen bilgisi öğretmen yetiştirme programlarında çevre sorunlarıyla ilgili güncel bilgilendirme ve çağdaş öğrenme etkinliklerini içeren derslerin yer alması önerilmektedir., Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine cognitive structure of preservice science teachers about “greenhouse effect” concept through Word Association Test (WAT) and the Write-Draw-Tell (WDT) Techniques..Design & Methodology: The study was designed based on one of the qualitative research method named as phenomenology and analyzed with content analysis. Thiss tudy was conducted with 63 preservice science teachers in the 2019 - 2020 academic year spring semester. Findings: According to findings obtained via WAT, the concepts hold by preservice science teachers in their cognitive structure about the “greenhouseeffect” have been corresponded to following four categories: “environment where greenhouse effect takes place”, “causes of the greenhouse effect”, “the results of greenhouse effect” and “misconceptions”. According to the findings which had been obtained by the WDT technique, preservice teachers have the “unscientific-superficial (52.4%)”, “misconceptions (30.2%)” and “scientific (15.9%) cognitive structure related to the concept. This study showed that preservice science teacher had some misconceptions and unscientific-superficial cognitive structure related with the greenhouseeffect.Implications & Suggestions: According to the findings of this study, it is advised that courses including actual information and contemporary learning activities about environmental problems should be included in the science teacher education programs.

The aim of this study was to identify the frequency and spectrum of germline BRCA1/2 pathogenic alterations in a cohort of patients with breast carcinoma. In this study, a total of 603 breast cancer subjects from Turkey were screened for BRCA1/BRCA2 mutations using HDA and Sanger sequencing. In the present study, 21 BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic variants were detected in 30 patients and BRCA1/2 mutations were significantly associated with a family history of breast/ovarian cancer. Analysis of overall survival for BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation carriers showed a trend for poor overall survival only in BRCA1 carriers, although this was not statistically significant in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers. The c.5266dupC mutation is one of the most frequently reported mutations in BRCA1 and was identified in five breast cancer patients in our study. The most common BRCA2 gene mutations in the present study were c.8940delA and c.9097dupA, which were found in seven patients. We found mostly BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers in those patients who showed hormone-positive features. In conclusion, our data showed differences in the distribution of the mutation spectrum of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in Turkey.

Alkalen fosfataz ozellikle ergenlik doneminde artmis buyume hizi nedeniyle ve gebelik doneminde ise fetal ve plesental yapilarin uretimindeki artistan dolayi 2- 3 kat artabilir. Fakat hayatin hicbir doneminde benign gecici hiperfosfatazemideki kadar artmaz. Benign gecici hiperfosfatazemi (BGH), siklikla 5 yasindan kucuk cocuklarda serum alkalen fosfataz duzeyinin (ALP) normal degerlerin 3–50 kata kadar yuksekligi ile seyreden ve ALP’nin haftalar veya aylar icinde normale dondugu benign bir klinik durumdur. Bu hastalikta genellikle karaciger ve kemik kaynakli ALP izoenzimleri yukselir, ince barsak izoenzimlerin yukseldigi daha az gorulmustur. ALP yuksekligi ile basvuran hastalarda karaciger, kemik hastaliklari ve maligniteler ekarte edildikten sonra benign gecici hiperfosfatazemi tanida akla gelmelidir. Bu yazida bulanti kusma nedeniyle takip edilen ve bakilan tetkiklerinde rastlantisal olarak ALP duzeyinin normalin 20 kati kadar yuksek olan ve diger hastaliklar ekarte edilerek BGH tanisi konulan15 aylik kiz hastayi literaturdeki bilgiler esliginde paylasmak istedik.

WOS: 000508130500028 Tetra-zwitterionic-substituted nickel(II) phthalocyanine derivatives were newly synthesized starting from nonionic 2(3),9(10),16(17),23(24)-tetrakis-[2-(N-((3-dimethylamino)propyl) carbamate)oxyethyl)phthalocyaninato nickel (II). The novel compounds have been characterized by a combination of UV-vis, FT-IR and mass spectroscopies and elemental analysis. The critical micelle concentrations of the prepared compounds were measured, and the antioxidant activities were analyzed with radical scavenging ability of 1,1-dipheny1-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and with 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS). The zwitterionic molecules showed aggregated spectra in the UV-vis region, and they might be good surfactant candidates for the detergent industry with their appropriate critical micelle concentration (CMC) properties in water. The compounds exhibited ABTS radical scavenging activity and thus they have antioxidant activity. Amaç: Bu çalışmada, fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin, biyoteknoloji ve genetik mühendisliği konusundaki bilgi düzeyleri ile cinsiyetleri, mezun oldukları fakülte, mesleki kıdemleri ve biyoteknoloji dersi alma durumları arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığı araştırılmıştır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel olarak tasarlanan çalışmanın örneklemini Malatya il Merkezinde görev yapmakta olan 58 fen bilimleri öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin, bilgi düzeylerini ölçmek için, tarafımızdan güvenirlik ve kapsam geçerliliği analizi yapılmış bilgi testi ve bazı demografik özellikleri belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçek kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Sonuçlarımıza göre; fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin biyoteknoloji/genetik mühendisliği konusundaki bilgi düzeyleri ile cinsiyetleri, mezun oldukları fakülte, mesleki deneyimleri ve biyoteknoloji dersi alma durumları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Ancak, öğretmenlerin yarısından fazlası bilgi testinde bulunan genetik mühendisliği, genetiği değiştirilmiş organizmalar, klonlama ve insan genom projesi konularına ilişkin 8 soruyu doğru cevaplayamamıştır. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Sonuçlarımıza göre, fen bilimleri öğretmenleri biyoteknoloji alanındaki güncel gelişmeleri takip etmiyorlar ve bu problemi çözmek için alan uzmanları tarafından bir hizmet-içi eğitime tabi tutulmaları önerilebilir.

Bu çalışma 2014-2017 yılları arasında Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesinde radyoterapi tedavisi almış, serviks kanseri tanılı 10 hastanın arşiv materyali kullanılarak retrospektif olarak yapılmıştır. Serviks kanseri radyoterapisinde kullanılan enerji seviyelerinin kullanılması amaçlanmıştır. Tedavi planlamasında kullanılan volumetrik ayarlı ark terapi (VMAT) ve yoğunluk ayarlı ark terapi(YART) 7 alan tekniği için 6 MV ve 15 MV enerjili foton enerjisi kullanılarak her hastaya özel 4 farklı planlama yapılmıştır. Planlanan hedef hacme 28 fraksiyondan 50.4 Gy doz verilmiş ve kritik organ olarak rektum, mesane, ince bağırsak, sağ ve sol femur başları konturlanarak dozimetrik karşılaştırma amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca tedavi planı değerlendirme parametrelerinden Conformite İndeksi ve Homojenite İndeksi verileri de değerlendirilmiştir. Karşılaştırmalar sonucunda en uygun PTV doz homojenitesi, CI değerini VMAT 15 MV, en iyi HI değerini YART 15 MV sağlamıştır. Mesane ve Rectum Dort dozları açısından en iyi VMAT 6 MV tekniği, ince bağırsak Dmax değeri YART 15 MV tekniğinde elde edilmiştir. Tüm tekniklerde doz dağılımları kabul edilebilir sınır içerisinde olduğu gözlemlenmiştir Saçılan doz ve ikincil kanser riski düşünüldüğünde VMAT 6 MV tekniği diğer tekniklere oranla daha üstün bulundu. Bu yüzden yan etkiler ve çift oluşum meydana gelme ihtimali göz önüne alındığında tedavi tekniği olarak VMAT 6 MV tekniğinin uygun olduğunu desteklemekteyiz.

Epistemological beliefs reflect the views of individuals in terms of what they believe knowledge is, what the validity and reliability of knowledge is and how it is produced and shared. The aim of this study was to examine the epistemological beliefs of pre-service science and classroom teachers in terms of class level, gender and department type. In this study, survey method was used. In this context, in order to determine epistemological beliefs of 107 preservice teachers (62 science teachers and 45 classroom teachers) that consist of participants, “Epistemological Belief Scale” were used developed by Schommer (1990) and adopted in Turkish by Deryakulu and Buyukozturk (2002). At the end of the study the epistemological belief level of the clasroom teachers and science teachers was found as high/developed (sophisticated) level in the factor of depends on effort learning and depends on the ability. In addition, the epistemological bilief level was found as low/undeveloped (naive) level in factor of only one truth exist. When the research was examined according to department, and class level variables, meaningful differences weren't found between variables. But, findings indicated that pre-service teachers’ epistemological beliefs differed based on gender in the factor of effort learning in favour of the female. As a result, this study found that candidate teachers held constructive epistemological beliefs based on total points.

Blood-based biomarkers reflect systemic inflammation status and have prognostic and predictive value in solid malignancies. As a recently defined biomarker, Pan-Immune-Inflammation-Value (PIV) integrates different peripheral blood cell subpopulations. This retrospective study of collected data aimed to assess whether PIV may predict the pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in Turkish women with breast cancer. The study consisted of 743 patients with breast cancer who were scheduled to undergo NAC before attempting cytoreductive surgery. A pre-treatment complete blood count was obtained in the two weeks preceding NAC, and blood-based biomarkers were calculated from absolute counts of relevant cell populations. The pCR was defined as the absence of tumor cells in both the mastectomy specimen and lymph nodes. Secondary outcome measures included disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). One hundred seven patients (14.4%) had pCR. In receiver operating characteristic analysis, optimal cut-off values for the neutrophile-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte (PLR), PIV, and Ki-67 index were determined as ≥ 2.34, ≥ 0.22, ≥ 131.8, ≥ 306.4, and ≥ 27, respectively. The clinical tumor (T) stage, NLR, MLR, PLR, PIV, estrogen receptor (ER) status, human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) status, and Ki-67 index were significantly associated with NAC response in univariate analyses. However, multivariate analysis revealed that the clinical T stage, PIV, ER status, HER-2 status, and Ki-67 index were independent predictors for pCR. Moreover, the low PIV group patients had significantly better DFS and OS than those in the high PIV group (p = 0.034, p = 0.028, respectively). Based on our results, pre-treatment PIV seems as a predictor for pCR and survival, outperforming NLR, MLR, PLR in predicting pCR in Turkish women with breast cancer who received NAC. However, further studies are needed to confirm our findings.

Self-injurious behaviors (SIBs) in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are destructive symptoms that can lead to dangerous injuries and life-threatening risks. Agitation and SIBs may not respond to psychopharmacological and behavioral interventions. There are reports in the literature on improvement after electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in cases not responding pharmacotherapy. However, data on the efficacy of the therapy on the benefiting patients, the course of the treatment and on the use of maintenance ECT (m-ECT) are very limited. This report presents the clinical features and the course of m-ECT on two cases under follow up for pharmacotherapy resistant ASD with significant agitation, mood disorder and SIBs that could cause severe head traumas. The initial stage of therapy consisted of 7 sessions of ECT patients showed improvement after the 5th session. m-ECT were started since the agitation repeated one week after discharge despite ongoing pharmacotherapy. In the first case, m-ECT was continued once every two weeks for a total of 46 sessions; and in the second case a total of 18 weekly sessions were conducted. No significant side effects or complications were observed and the general state of well-being was preserved. Our paper is among the few that reported succesful treatment of agitation with m-ECT. m-ECT should be considered in treatment resistant cases.

In this article, two cases that were handled with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing(EMDR) method are presented. The first of the cases was a female patient who was exposed to sexualabuse when she was nine years old, was followed up with a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) and depression 29 years after the event, and whose functionality was significantly affectedfor the last two years. The other case is a female patient who has a phobia of flying, ferry, taking theelevator and therefore cannot visit abroad, cannot travel on a ferry tour on holidays, cannot enjoy any ofthe holidays she has done with fear and anxiety that she will experience something bad or faint. In bothcases in which EMDR was applied in the treatment, it was observed that the patients responded to thetreatment and that there was significant improvement in functionality during the therapy process andfollow-up. As a result, EMDR can be used as an alternative to other treatment methods, even as the firsttreatment option, in both PTSD and specific phobia., Göz hareketleri ile duyarsızlaştırma ve yeniden işlemleme [Eye Movement Desensitization andReprocessing (EMDR)] yöntemi ile ele alınan iki olgu sunulmuştur. Olguların ilki dokuz yaşında cinselistismara maruz kalan, olaydan 29 yıl sonra travma sonrası stress bozukluğu (TSSB) ve depresyontanıları ile izlenen, son iki yıldır işlevselliği önemli ölçüde etkilenen bir kadın hastadır. İkinci olgu iseuçak, vapur, asansöre binme fobisi bulunan bu yüzden yurtdışına ziyarete gidemeyen, tatillerde vapurturu ile seyahat edemeyen, kötü bir şey yaşayacağı ya da bayılacağı korku ve endişesi içinde yaptığıtatillerden hiçbir zevk alamayan kadın hastadır. Tedavide EMDR uygulanan her iki olgunun terapisüreci ve takiplerinde hastaların tedaviye yanıt verdiği ve işlevsellikte önemli derecede düzelme olduğugörüldü. Sonuç olarak hem TSSB hem de özgül fobide, EMDR diğer tedavi yöntemlerine alternatifolarak hatta ilk tedavi seçeneği olarak kullanılabilir.

A low neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) reflects a systemic milieu characterized by reduced inflammation and increase immune system activation – potentially favoring a better response to therapy in solid malignancies. This retrospective study of collected data aimed to assess whether NLR may predict pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in Turkish women with breast cancer. The study sample consisted of 406 patients with breast cancer who were scheduled to undergo NAC before attempting cytoreductive surgery. A pretreatment complete blood count was obtained in the week preceding NAC, and the NLR was calculated from absolute counts of neutrophils and lymphocytes. The Miller-Payne system was used to grade response to NAC. Secondary outcome measures included disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Patients were divided into two groups (high versus low) according to the optimal cutoff value (NLR = 1.95; low NLR ≤ 1.95, high NLR > 1.95). The rate of pCR in the low NLR group (22.3%) was similar to that observed in the high NLR group (19.8%; P = 0.20). Moreover, there were no significant differences in DFS and OS of patients in the high and low NLR groups. Based on our results, pretreatment NLR seems to have no significant predictive value in Turkish women with breast cancer who received NAC. However, prospective studies will surely provide deeper insights into the prognostic significance of NLR in this clinical setting.

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an uncommon soft tissue sarcoma that originates from the dermis or subcutaneous tissue in the skin. While its prognosis is generally favorable, disease recurrence is relatively frequent. Because morbidity after repeated surgery may be significant, an optimized prediction of recurrence-free survival (RFS) has the potential to improve current management strategies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of the Ki-67 proliferation index with respect to RFS in patients with DFSP. We retrospectively analyzed data from 45 patients with DFSP. We calculated the Ki-67 proliferation index as the percentage of immunostained nuclei among the total number of tumor cell nuclei regardless of the intensity of immunostaining. We constructed univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models to identify predictors of RFS. Among the 45 patients included in the study, 8 developed local recurrences and 2 had lung metastases (median follow-up: 95.0 months; range: 5.2−412.4 months). The RFS rates at 60, 120, and 240 months of follow-up were 83.8%, 76.2%, and 65.3%, respectively. The median Ki-67 proliferation index was 14%. Notably, we identified the Ki-67 proliferation index as the only independent predictor for RFS in multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis (hazard ratio = 1.106, 95% confidence interval = 1.019−1.200, p = 0.016). In summary, our results highlight the potential usefulness of the Ki-67 proliferation index for facilitating the identification of patients with DFSP at higher risk of developing disease recurrences.

Today, there is a great discrepancy between the number of recipient patients on waiting lists for an organ transplant and the number of donated organs. Negative attitudes toward organ donation are important factors in the lack of donors. Education is an important tool to change attitudes, so it is important to determine the attitudes of teachers and pre-service teachers. The aim of this research was to develop a reliable and valid scale to evaluate pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards organ transplantation and donation (OTD). The attitude scale development process was conducted on three different pre-service teachers’ groups for the purposes of performing the exploratory factor analysis (n=208), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) (n=480) and test-retest correlation (n=62) of the scale. It was established that the scale had two factor structure consisting of a total of 20 items. It was determined that the two factors determined explain 61.749% of the total variance. The CFA values confirmed the two-factor model with acceptable goodness of fit indices. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient for the total scale was calculated as .900. Test-retest reliability was calculated as .951. Finally, the results demostrated that this scale is able to measure pre-service teachers’ attitudes related to OTD use reliably. Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının “bilim” ve “bilim insanı” kavramlarına ilişkin algılarını metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarmaktır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgu bilim desenine göre tasarlanan çalışmada, içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Veriler, 62 fen bilgisi, 45 sınıf öğretmeni olmak üzere toplam 107 öğretmen adayının “Bilim/Bilim İnsanı …… gibidir. Çünkü ……” ifadelerini tamamlamasıyla elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlarımıza göre, öğretmen adayları “Bilim” kavramı için 85, “bilim insanı” kavramı için 80 geçerli metafor üretmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarından elde edilen verilerde “bilim” kavramı için en çok “Kitap” (f=5), “bilim insanı” kavramı için ise “Güneş” (f=5) metaforu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen metaforlar daha sonra ortak özellikleri ve benzerlikleri dikkate alınarak kategorileştirilmiş ve “bilim” kavramı için sekiz, “bilim insanı” kavramı için altı kategori elde edilmiştir. Öğretmen adayları “bilim” kavramını çoğunlukla “emek-çaba ve araştırmaya bağlı” (f=17) bir yapı, “bilim insanı” kavramını ise “araştıran, çabalayan, çalışkan bir kişi” (f=31) olarak görmektedir. Kavramsal kategoriler, öğretmen adaylarının cinsiyeti, sınıf düzeyleri ve bölüm türü bakımından da farklılaşmıştır. “Bilim” ve “bilim insanı” kavramlarına ilişkin oluşturulan metaforlar arasında olumsuz bir metafora rastlanmamıştır.

Özofagus kanserinin radyoterapi ile tedavisinde kullanılan 3BKRT ve VMAT tekniklerinin hedef hacmi sararken riskli organları korumadaki etkilerini görmek ve kendi verilerini elde etmek; elde ettiğimiz bu retrospektif dozimetrik sonuçları birbirleriyle karşılaştırmaktır. Bu çalışma için; 10 küratif radyoterapi ile tedavi edilen toraks yerleşimli özofagus kanseri tanılı hasta seçildi. Fraksiyon dozu 1,8 Gy ve toplam doz 54 Gy olacak şekilde planlar hazırlandı. İki teknik arasında kritik organ dozu (OAR), CI ve HI karşılaştırıldı. Yapılan istatistiksel karşılaştırma sonucunda PTV54’e ait değerlerin analizinde 3BKRT ve VMAT arasında HI (p=0,010) dışında anlamlı fark görülmemiştir. OAR dozları için; akciğerin V10 değeri 3BKRT tekniğinde üstün bulunmuştur (p=0,017). Kalbin V40 değeri VMAT tekniğinde düşük bulunmuştur (p=0,002). Ayrıca, Spinal Cord Dmax değeri için bakıldığında VMAT tekniği 3BKRT’ye göre düşük değerlere sahiptir (p=0,001). Çalışmamızın sonucunda doz homojenliği ve riskli organlar açısından her iki teknikte kullanılabilir görülmesine rağmen ileri yaştaki bu hastalarda etki eden komorbiditeler göz önüne alındığında VMAT tekniği kullanımının tercih olabileceği görülmüştür.

Baş boyun kanseri (H&N) radyoterapisinde hacimsel ayarlı ark terapi (VMAT) tekniği ile hazırlanan üç farklı radyoterapi planında, hedef hacim dozu ve kritik organ dozlarını incelemesi hedeflenmiştir.Çalışmada 8 baş boyun kanseri (H&N) tanılı olgu değerlendirildi. Radyoterapi planlarında; çift rotasyon şeklinde 1 ark (sVMAT), çift ark (dVMAT) ve 150 kolimatör açılı olacak şekilde (cVMAT) planları hazırlandı. Üç yöntemde hedef hacme reçete edilen doz istenilen şekilde verilebilmiştir. Sağ ve sol parotis Dmean değerlerinde anlamlı fark gözlenmemiş ancak sağ parotis için sVMAT tekniği daha düşük doz aldığı görülmüştür. Üç farklı planda tümör dozu istenilen şekilde sağlanmıştır ve organ dozlarımız istenilen sınırlar içerisinde tutulabilmiştir. Ancak parotis bezi ve beyin sapında elde edilen düşük doz değeri sVMAT tekniğini diğer tekniklere göre üstün kılmıştır.

In our study, our aim is to treat 20patients with pancreatic cancer who had radiotherapy, with conformalradiotherapy (3D-CRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumemodulated arc therapy (VMAT) planning and comparison of the techniques in termsof dosimetric. In this study, 20 patients with primary pancreatic head tumorwho were treated in our clinic between 2012-2017 were retrospectivelyevaluated. Five different treatment techniques were planned for each patient’stumor, around of tumor and regionallymph nodes, and all plans were implemented so that target volume doses wouldbe 54/45 Gy. Plans were prepared using 6 MV X-rays for VMAT and IMRT and 15 MVX-rays for 3BKRT. Techniques were compared interms of planned target volume doses (PTV), conformity index (CI), homogeneityindex (HI), organs at risk (kidneys, spinal cord, liver). The mean CI indicesVMAT 1 arc plans for PTV54 and PTV45 were found to be 1.16 and1.03 for VMAT 2 arc 1.01 and 1.00. Although there was no significant differencebetween the two groups in terms of CI, the most appropriate CI value was foundin VMAT 2 arc plans (p = 0.806 for PTV45 and p = 0.595 for PTV54). There was no difference interms of CI between IMRT and 3D-CRT techniques, the best value being obtainedfrom IMRT technique. Doses of VMAT 2 arc plans were found to belower, although there was no statistical difference between VMAT 1 arc and VMAT2 arc plans in terms of critical organ doses. Since pancreatic tumors arelocated close to critical organs such as kidneys and liver as a settlement, 3DCRTplans can be accepted in terms of liver; but the kidneys have not succeeded interms of protection. The VMAT 2 arc technique excelled in dose sprinning, CI,HI and critical organ doses according to other techniques. Therefore, VMAT maybe preferred as a treatment technique when side effects are taken into account., Çalışmamızdaamacımız pankreas kanseri tanısıyla radyoterapi görmüş, 20 hastaya konformalradyoterapi (3B-KRT), yoğunluk ayarlı radyoterapi (IMRT), hacimsel ayarlı ark terapi(VMAT) teknikleri ile tedavi planlaması yapılarak tekniklerin dozimetrik açıdankarşılaştırılmasıdır. Bu çalışmada 2012-2017 yılları arasında kliniğimizdetedavi görmüş, primer pankreas başı tümörü olan 20 hasta retrospektif olarakdeğerlendirilmiştir. Her hastaya tümör, tümör çevresi ve bölgesel lenfnodlarına yönelik 5 farklı tedavi tekniği planlanmış, tüm planlar hedef hacimdozları 54/45 Gy olacak şekilde seçilmiştir. Planlar VMAT ve IMRT için 6 MV X-ışını,3BKRT için 6/15 MV X-ışını kullanılarak hazırlanmıştır. Planlanan hedef hacimdozları (PTV), Conformite indeksi (CI), Homojenite indeksi (HI), riskli organlar(böbrekler, spinal cord, karaciğer) açısından teknikler karşılaştırılmıştır.PTV54 ve PTV45 için ortalama CI indeksleri VMAT 1 arkplanlarında sırasıyla 1,16 ve 1,03 VMAT 2 arkda ise 1,01 ve 1,00 bulunmuştur.CI açısından iki grup arasında anlamlı fark olmamasına rağmen en uygun CI değeriVMAT 2 ark planlarında bulunmuştur (PTV45 için p=0,806-PTV54için p=0,595). IMRT ile 3B-KRT teknikleri arasında CI açısından farkbulunamamış, en uygun değer IMRT tekniğinden elde edilmiştir. Kritik organdozları açısından VMAT 1 ark ve VMAT 2 ark planları arasında istatistikselfarklılık olmamasına rağmen VMAT 2 ark planlarının dozları daha düşükbulunmuştur. Pankreas tümörleri yerleşim yeri olarak böbrekler ve karaciğergibi kritik organlara yakın oluşundan 3BKRT planları karaciğer açısından kabul edilebilir;ancak böbrekleri koruma açısından yeterli değildir. VMAT 2 ark tekniği diğertekniklere göre doz sarımı, CI, HI ve kritik organ dozlarında üstünlüksağlamıştır. Bu yüzden yan etkiler göz önüne alındığında tedavi tekniği olarakVMAT tercih edilebilir.

Bu arastirmada amac; endometrium, serviks ve larinks kanserlerinin yogunluk ayarli radyoterapi (YART) tekniginde 6 farkli homojenite indeks formulleri kullanilarak hesaplanan degerleri karsilastirmak ve doz homojenitesi icin en iyi homojenite indeksini belirlemektir. Bu calismada, ELEKTA SYNERGY lineer hizlandiricisinda 6 MV foton enerjisi ile dinamik Multi Lif Kolimator (dMLC) yogunluk ayarli radyoterapi (YART) tedavi teknigi ile tedavi edilen 30 hastanin (10 endometrium, 10 serviks, 10 larinks) 6 farkli formulle hesaplanan homojenite indeks sonuclari degerlendirilmistir. Yogunluk ayarli radyoterapi (YART) planlari MONACO tedavi planlama sisteminde planlanmistir. Ayrica, homojenite indeksini etkileyen faktorler de incelenmistir. Elde edilen veriler Sosyal Bilimler Icin Istatistik Programi (SPSS) istatistiksel analiz programi yardimiyla analiz edilmistir.

Kemodektoma olarak da bilinen karotis cisim tumorleri (KCT) karotis cisim noroendokrin dokularindan kaynaklanan nadir bir tumordur. Noral krest kokenlidir. Bu tumorlerin cogu benign karakterdedir ancak klinik olarak malign karakterde de olabilir. Karotis cisim tumorlerinin cerrahi rezeksiyonu tek kuratif tedavi sekli olup ilk tedavi secenegi olarak dusunulmelidir. Bu makalede karotis tumor kemodektoma nedeniyle ameliyat oncesi polivinil alkol embolizasyonu sonrasinda devaskularize edilemeyen ve cerrahi eksizyonu yapilan hastanin tani, tedavi ve takip asamalari sunuldu ve guncel literatur bilgileri gozden gecirildi.
