Ziziphus jujuba Mill., commonly referred to as jujube, is a species of fruiting buckthorn (family Rhamnaceae) that is frequently found across the Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Hebei provinces of China. The ‘Fengmiguan’ variety of jujube, also known as ‘Honey jar,’ is distinguished by its high yield and sugar content, as well as its strong ability to adapt to different environments. In this study, we sequenced and assembled the chloroplast genome (i.e. the plastome) of ‘Fengmiguan’ jujube using a paired-end short-read sequencing technique. The plastome exhibits a quadripartite structure with a total length of 161,818 bp that consists of a large single-copy region (89,427 bp), a small single-copy region (19,361 bp), and two inverted repeats (26,515 bp). The GC content of the plastome is 36.75%. Annotation of the ‘Fengmiguan’ jujube plastome revealed 123 genes, including 79 protein-coding genes, 36 transfer RNA genes, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the ‘Fengmiguan’ variety is closely related to the ‘Bokjo’ variety. Furthermore, we found four variations between these two varieties of jujube, one of which was a 101 bp insertion. Our findings enhance the current understanding of the phylogenetic relationship between different varieties of Z. jujuba Mill., which could possibly aid in the improvement of genetic breeding and population selection in jujubes.

BackgroundCurrently, the value of induction chemoimmunotherapy before chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been explored. This study was designed to explore the efficacy and safety of induction chemoimmunotherapy in patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC.MethodsUnresectable stage III NSCLC patients who received CRT with or without induction chemoimmunotherapy between August 2014 and December 2021 were retrospectively enrolled. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were assessed from the initiation of treatment and estimated by the Kaplan-Meier method. The potential factors affecting PFS and OS were analyzed by univariate and multivariate Cox regression models. One-to-one propensity score matching (PSM) was used to further minimize confounding.ResultsA total of 279 consecutive patients were enrolled, with 53 (19.0%) receiving induction chemoimmunotherapy followed by CRT (I-CRT group), and the remaining 226 (81.0%) receiving CRT alone (CRT group). After PSM, the median PFS was 24.8 months in the I-CRT group vs. 13.3 months in the CRT group (P=0.035). The median OS was not reached (NR) vs. 36.6 months ((P=0.142). The incidence of treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) was similar in both groups, except that the incidence of hematological toxicity was higher in the I-CRT group (77.1% vs. 58.3%, P=0.049). Dam control changes the hydraulic environment and hydrological rhythm of rivers; to explore the causes of fish habitat loss and influence of river regulation in such rivers, the downstream curving reaches of Shaying River were cut off. Grass, silver, and bighead carp were selected as the research targets, and the impact of waterway regulation and the effect of gravel mounds on the target fish habitat were studied using numerical simulation. The results show that the original channel's hydraulic environment is similar to the artificial channel, and the target fish spawning habitat is limited, which is an important reason for the shortage of fish resources in the research area. The reconstructed channel can meet the river's navigation demands and improve the channel's flood discharge capacity. The habitat method was used to estimate the minimum and appropriate ecological flows of the target fish at each growth stage in the original and reconstructed rivers. Under the appropriate ecological flow, the weighted usable area (WUA) of juvenile, migratory, and spawning habitats of the target fish in the reconstructed river increased by 168, 24, and 580%, respectively, compared to the original channel, while the WUA of adult fish that preferred a slow-water environment decreased by 62%, effectively improving the target fish's spawning environment. Abstract The inaccuracy of power sharing is a classic problem of droop control when an islanded AC microgrid suffers from high loads and line impedance differences. It degrades system performance and even destroys system stability. This paper originally presents a multi‐objective optimisation droop control method to solve such a problem. And three objective functions are presented according to the characteristics of microgrids. First, a complete small‐signal model of a microgrid in autonomous operation mode is established. Next, this paper derives constraint conditions for the stable microgrid. Then, this paper originally designs three objective functions for constructing a multi‐objective optimisation (MOO) problem to improve control performance. The multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) is used to obtain the Pareto optimal frontier of the MOO problem. The fuzzy affiliation function method is used to choose the best solution from the generated Pareto optimal frontier. Finally, simulations verified the validity and superiority of the presented method.

Most of the existing engineering structures were built in the last century and have been in service for decades. However, environmental degradation may lead to a reduction in structural performance and service life. The mechanical property data of full-scale structures, such as bridges, are essential for structural health monitoring. For this purpose, five (half) reinforced concrete (RC) T-beams were removed from a retired 31-year-old bridge and subjected to destructive testing. Two loading points were employed, and the flexural and shear capacities of the retired T-beams were studied. The results showed that all the retired beams held high load capacities (exceeding 1400 kN). The two flexural test beams exhibited a high ductility, and the three shear test beams all failed. In addition, the existing cracks in the flexural test beams reopened when the load exceeded 200 kN, while it was 300 kN for the shear test beams. The load-carrying capacity experimental values of the test beams were compared with the ones calculated according to Chinese code JTG-3362-2018; it was shown that the retired T-beams still maintained a high degree of safety margins despite initial defects. The experimental results are expected to provide a reference for the assessment of in-service RC bridges.

Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) is a commercially important tree native to China, known for its high nutritional value and widespread distribution, as well as its diverse germplasm resources. Being resilient to harsh climatic conditions, the cultivation of jujube could provide a solution to food insecurity and income for people of arid and semi-arid regions in and outside of China. The evaluation of germplasm resources and genetic diversity in jujube necessitates the use of Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) markers. SSR markers are highly polymorphic and can be used to evaluate the genetic diversity within and between cultivars of Chinese jujube, and are important for conservation biology, breeding programs, and the discovery of important traits for Chinese jujube improvement in China and abroad. However, traditional methods of SSR development are time-consuming and inadequate to meet the growing research demands. To address this issue, we developed a novel approach called Multiple-Genome-Based SSR identification (MGB-SSR), which utilizes the genomes of three jujube cultivars to rapidly screen for polymorphic SSRs in the jujube genome. Through the screening process, we identified 12 pairs of SSR primers, which were then used to successfully classify 249 jujube genotypes. Based on the genotyping results, a digital ID card was established, enabling the complete identification of all 249 jujube plants. The MGB-SSR approach proved efficient in rapidly detecting polymorphic SSRs within the jujube genome. Notably, this study represents the first successful differentiation of jujube germplasm resources using 12 SSR markers, with 4 markers successfully identifying triploid jujube genotypes. These findings offer valuable information for the classification of Chinese jujube germplasm, thereby providing significant assistance to jujube researchers and breeders in identifying unknown jujube germplasm.

Marbling characteristics are important traits for the genetic improvement of pork quality. Accurate marbling segmentation is the prerequisite for the quantification of these traits. However, the marbling targets are small and thin with dissimilar sizes and shapes and scattered in pork, complicating the segmentation task. Here, we proposed a deep learning-based pipeline, a shallow context encoder network (Marbling-Net) with the usage of patch-based training strategy and image up-sampling to accurately segment marbling regions from images of pork longissimus dorsi (LD) collected by smartphones. A total of 173 images of pork LD were acquired from different pigs and released as a pixel-wise annotation marbling dataset, the pork marbling dataset 2023 (PMD2023). The proposed pipeline achieved an IoU of 76.8%, a precision of 87.8%, a recall of 86.0%, and an F1-score of 86.9% on PMD2023, outperforming the state-of-art counterparts. The marbling ratios in 100 images of pork LD are highly correlated with marbling scores and intramuscular fat content measured by the spectrometer method (R2 = 0.884 and 0.733, respectively), demonstrating the reliability of our method. The trained model could be deployed in mobile platforms to accurately quantify pork marbling characteristics, benefiting the pork quality breeding and meat industry.

Deep belief network (DBN) is now being recognized as a powerful and eminently practical tool for large scale data processing. The main characteristics of DBN are the feature extension from low-level content to high-level data association and the representation of joint distribution between original data and matched labels. For a wheeled robot with no other available location reference supports, the internally integrated inertial measurement units (IMUs) essentially requires the robot to be able to implement efficient fault diagnosis to locate and identify the faults, especially for the accumulated error caused by large drifts of gyroscopes. An optimized DBN based fault diagnosis design is proposed to deal with such faults with complexity and diversity. The highlights of the proposed DBN model lies in its combination of weight value optimization via an inexact LSA-GA (abbreviates `inexact linear searching algorithm- genetic algorithm') and dynamic adjustment for hidden-layer neurons of constituent RBMs (abbreviates `restricted Boltzmann machines'). The problems associated with DBN anatomy, bat algorithm (BA) description and fault diagnosis modeling are discussed in detail. The real robot platform experiments and dataset tests are conducted. The results indicate that, the optimized DBN design leads to a better fault classification with excellent generalization ability on given datasets, and the adjustable `DBN structure' contributes to the data association extraction between multiples of fault categories. The proposed scheme may therefore be considered to provide preferred reference models for a class of data based fault diagnosis problems.

Hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer and trimer acids (HFPO-DA and HFPO-TA) are used as alternatives to legacy perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA); however, little is known about their human exposure risks. In this study, the concentrations of PFOA and HFPO were measured in major human exposure matrices and human bio-samples of local residents near a mega fluorochemical industrial park in Shandong, China, to characterize their external and internal exposures. Although HFPO-DA was detected in drinking water and indoor dust, it exhibited a considerably low bioaccumulation potential in animal-origin food and human samples (urine, hair, and serum), implying that it might be a benign alternative to PFOA. Although the estimated daily intake (EDI) of HFPO-TA was comparable to that of PFOA, its concentration in urine was higher than that of PFOA, implying that it might be eliminated faster than PFOA. A simple one-compartment pharmacokinetic model was applied to estimate the serum concentrations of the target compounds and subsequently compare them with the measured concentrations. The predicted concentration of PFOA in serum based on its concentration in urine and half-life was close to the measured value, confirming the distinct internal exposure of PFOA in the local residents. However, the measured concentrations of HFPO in serum were considerably lower than those predicted from the external EDI and urine concentrations, implying that they were eliminated faster than expected in humans. Various perfluoroalkyl substances were detected in human hair, and their compositions were similar to those in human serum, suggesting that hair is a good non-invasive indicator for long-term exposure to legacy long-chain perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids and HFPOs. This study provided valuable information about the human exposure to legacy PFOA and HFPOs in highly impacted areas near point sources and necessitates studies on the toxicokinetics of HFPOs.

Inorganic nitrogen (N) is an important element for eutrophication and harmful algal bloom (HAB) formation. However, the roles of inorganic N in HAB outbreaks are still unclear. Here, we compared the affinities and abilities for inorganic N uptake and assimilation among three typical bloom-forming algae in the East China Sea (ECS), Skeletonema costatum, Prorocentrum donghaiense and Alexandrium pacificum by investigating the uptake and enzymatic (nitrate reductase (NR) and glutamine synthetase (GS) kinetics for nitrate and ammonia. The Ks of nitrate and ammonium in S. costatum was lower than those in P. donghaiense and A. pacificum. The NR activity of S. costatum and P. donghaiense exhibited a positive relationship with the nitrate concentration, and NR activity of S. costatum was nearly 4-fold higher than that of P. donghaiense at high nitrate concentration. However, the NR activity of A. pacificum could not be detected. The GS activity of three species decreased with the increase of ammonium concentrations, and the highest GS activity was detected in A. pacificum. S. costatum presented the highest affinity for nitrate and ammonium, followed by P. donghaiense and A. pacificum. Moreover, P. donghaiense exhibited the highest affinity for intracellular ammonium. Our results characterized the differences in inorganic nitrogen uptake among the three typical bloom-forming algae, which may contribute to the formation of blooms in the coastal waters of the ECS.

Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is an advanced concrete with superior mechanical strength, ductility and durability properties. However, the influence of steel fiber on its constitutive laws and the specimen geometric dimension effect on its strength had not been paid enough attention. To investigate the effect of steel fibers on the properties of UHPC, specimens with different fiber volume contents and fiber types were tested. Meanwhile, the mechanical properties of UHPC at different ages from 3 days to 28 days were conducted. Moreover, specimens with various geometric dimensions were also prepared to study the effect of specimen geometric dimensions (dog-bone-shaped, prism and cylinder specimens) on the properties of UHPC. The results indicated that elastic modulus, tensile peak stress and the corresponding strain increased as the fiber volume content and curing age increased. Specimens with hooked-end fibers exhibited better tensile performance than those with straight fibers. Furthermore, different geometric dimensions of specimens significantly influenced the tensile properties of UHPC. Based on the experimental results, conversion factors were suggested for the transformation of strength obtained from specimens with different geometric dimensions to reference specimens. In addition, both compressive and tensile constitutive laws were proposed to generate the stress–strain relationship of UHPC.

Presence is the sense of being in a virtual environment when physically situated in another place. It is one of the key components of the overall virtual reality (VR) experience, as well as other immersive audio applications. However, there is no standardized method for measuring presence. In our previous study, we explored the possibility of using electroencephalography (EEG) to measure presence by using questionnaires as a reference. It was found that an increase in the subjective presence level was correlated with an increase in the theta/beta ratio (an index derived from EEG). In the present study, we re-analyzed the original data and found that the peak alpha frequency (PAF), another EEG index, may also have the potential to reflect the change in the subjective presence level. Specifically, an increase in the subjective presence level was found to be correlated with a decrease in PAF. Together with our previous study, these results indicate the potential use of EEG for the objective measurement of presence in the future.

Abstract Background Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis with complex genetic basis supported by family investigation. Renal involvement in psoriasis is sparsely studied and its pathogenesis is still unclear. Methods and Results We describe the case of a 7‐year‐old boy presented new onset of nephropathy two weeks after a flare‐up of psoriasis. His mother had a long history of psoriasis without abnormal urinalysis records. The case showed non‐nephrotic range proteinuria, microscopic hematuria without any other abnormal results including renal function, complement cascade, and ultrasound. Renal pathological demonstrated the diagnosis of C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN) showing mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis with C3 staining only, effacement of podocyte process and intramembranous electron dense deposit by electric microscopy. Parent‐child trio WES performed to screening the common variants of psoriasis susceptibility locus and also the rare variants associated with C3GN. We identified a missense single nucleotide polymorphism of CARD14 (*607211, rs34367357, p.Val585Ile) carried by the proband and his mother. Meta‐analysis proved the association of rs34367357 and psoriasis (p = 0.006, OR = 1.23). A hemizygouse mutation of CLCN5 (*300008, c.1904A＞G,p.Asn635Ser) was identified for diagnosis of Dent disease (*300009). Conclusion The case highlights the genetic study is necessary to facilitate disease differentiation in new onset of nephropathy with psoriasis in children.

The issues of chassis dynamics-based navigation sensor fault and state estimation in land vehicles are specialized in this study. Owing to the essential attributes of robust theory-based observers, an H-infinity adaptive observer is proposed to implement the fault reconstructions of faulty sensors, offering a reference to vehicles for further favorable control decision-making. This observer fuses a linear matrix inequality convex optimization strategy, with the dynamics of land vehicles established mathematically, the consequent problems associated with augmented descriptor system state-space model, Lyapunov stability and linear matrix inequality convex optimization are discussed in detail. The numerical simulations on vehicular systems that suffered with single-existing deadlocking, gain scheduling, and constant deflection sensor fault are conducted. The results indicate, the fault channel outputs fairly reflect the variations of real faults under severe step-type fault input circumstances, so that the applicability of the fault observer against sensor failures is guaranteed. The proposed sensor fault construction idea is further extended to a loosely coupled inertial measurement units/global positioning system (GPS) illustration with GPS unavailable in its north velocity channel. After reconstructing the priori system state for “State one-step prediction” of Kalman filter, the compensated navigation parameters by state estimator exhibit consistent with the references as expected, the vehicle chassis dynamics-based sensor fault construction method, therefore, may be recognized as an effective measure to a class of integrated navigation systems experiencing some unknown sensor failures.

To reduce the amount of cement used in cemented coal gangue backfill (CCGB, a mixture of coal gangue, cement, fly ash, and water), mechanical and deformation properties of CCGB in which CSFA partially replaces the cement (0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 wt%) were studied. Compressive strength, acoustic emission during uniaxial loading, shear strength, and drying shrinkage were analysed. The compressive strength, shear strength, and drying shrinkage tests were performed at different curing times. The results showed that cemented coal gangue and corn stalk fly ash backfill (CGCAB) presented better performance, and the CGCAB with a 20% substitution rate had the best performance at day 28. Despite having the largest drying shrinkage value, 20% is the best choice for the substitution rate of CSFA. A 20% CSFA addition can enhance the bearing capacity of CGCAB and improve its failure mode, which is of great significance to support the upper overburden load and maintain the surface stability of the goaf.

Precast high-strength concrete segmental beams with external tendons and dry joints (ED-PHCSBs) have become a potential alternative for achieving accelerated bridge construction due to their lighter self-weight and easier installation. In order to investigate the shear behavior of ED-PHCSBs, eight precast concrete segmental specimens were fabricated and tested to failure. For comparison purposes, one externally prestressed high-strength concrete monolithic beam was also investigated. The primary parameters, including concrete strength, shear span-depth ratio, stirrup ratio, joint number, and joint location, were adopted. Test results indicated that increasing the concrete strength or stirrup ratio can effectively improve the shear capacity of the ED-PHCSBs. The shear span-depth ratio was inversely proportional to shear strength for all specimens. The results also revealed that the joint number had a marginal effect on the defections and stresses of the external tendons of ED-PHCSBs. AASHTO 2017 and Chinese code 2018 can conservatively estimate the shear strength of ED-PHCSBs. Considering the actual failure modes of the precast beams, a calculation method based on a modified strut-and-tie model was proposed. The average and standard deviation of the ratios of the test results to the predicted value of the proposed method were 0.98 and 0.08, respectively. It indicated that the proposed formula was more accurate.

Abstract Background Ideal cardiovascular health (CVH) metrics have been found to be associated with subclinical vascular abnormalities. However, the relationship between ideal CVH metrics and retinal vessel calibers and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in a Chinese population is unknown. Methods We collected information on the seven ideal CVH metrics among 3376 participants aged 40 years or older from the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community Study in 2012. Retinal vessel calibers and RNFL thickness were assessed by retinal photography and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. Multivariable linear models were used to analyze the relationship between ideal CVH metrics and retinal parameters. Presence is used to assess the subjective experience of being in one place when physically situated in another. Recently, the research on presence has gained increasing attention due to the wide use of immersive audio technologies. Currently, the most widely-used measurement of presence is based on post-experiment self-report questionnaires. It is reliable but imperfect due to the psychological changes caused by the act of answering the questionnaire when immersed in the virtual environment. Therefore, the present work aims to find an objective way to measure presence, and electroencephalography (EEG) was investigated as a possible tool for this objective measurement. In this study, two listening tests were conducted, where eight loudspeakers were used to reproduce urban soundscapes to stimulate auditory presence. Presence was measured by both questionnaires and EEG. Results showed a significant correlation between T/B (Theta/Beta Ratio) extracted from EEG and subjective presence levels assessed by questionnaires, suggesting the possible use of EEG to measure presence objectively. This study could bring some insight for the research of presence, and related technologies, such as VR, video games and immersive audio production.

The program material is of great importance for the results of the listening tests on loudspeakers, while the process of how to select the program material remains ambiguous. This paper investigates the criterion for selecting programs suitable for low-frequency perceptual evaluation based on the audio features of the program. A listening test was conducted to identify the more discriminating and revealing programs in the low-frequency range. Based on the listening test results, various characteristics of the programs, including dynamic, timbral, rhythmic, and spectral features, were extracted. Their relationships with the program’s discrimination ability are discussed. The results suggest that programs with a slow and clear rhythm and a smooth and even spectrum in the whole band are more discriminating in detecting the spectral differences in the low frequencies. By using these significant features, a discriminant analysis was performed to predict the ability of the program to reveal the spectral irregularities. The predictive accuracy of the derived discriminant function was 95% in separating the discriminating and undiscriminating programs.

Recent prediction on the heavy statistical correlation between the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced composite (FRP) raises new concerns on the accurate reliability evaluation of composite structures, but such statistical correlation still lacks experimental verification. In this work, an experimental methodology is proposed to determine the statistical correlation between mechanical properties of unidirectional FRP composite. A rectangular shaped carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) specimen with a circular hole is loaded by tension, and 3D digital image correlation (DIC) is employed to characterize the heterogeneous strain field around the hole. Virtual field method (VFM) is used to derive E11, E22, ν12, and G12 of specimens. Specimen configuration considering fiber angle and hole diameter is optimized to achieve accurate determination of correlation coefficients. Experimental results on the linear correlation coefficients between E11, E22, ν12, and G12 agree well with previous theoretical predictions.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) is commonly used in motor rehabilitation for stroke patients. It has been verified that NMES can improve muscle strength and activate the brain, but the studies on how NMES affects the corticomuscular connection are limited. Some studies found an increased corticomuscular coherence (CMC) after a long-term NMES. However, it is still unknown about CMC during NMES, as relatively pure EMG is very difficult to obtain with the contamination of NMES current pulses. In order to approach the condition during NMES, we designed an experiment with short-term NMES and immediately captured data within 100 s. The repetition of wrist flexion was used to realize static muscle contractions for CMC calculation and dynamic contractions for event-related desynchronization (ERD). The result of 13 healthy participants showed that maximal values (p = 0.0020) and areas (p = 0.0098) of CMC and beta ERD were significantly increased immediately after NMES. It was concluded that a short-term NMES can still reinforce corticomuscular functional connection and brain activation related to motor task. This study verified the immediate strengthen of corticomuscular changes after NMES, which was expected to be the basis of long-term neural plasticity induced by NMES.

A new research method based on vibration testing for the vibration fatigue of FRP was proposed in this paper. Through the testing on a closed-loop controlled vibration fatigue test system, the vibration fatigue phenomenon of typical carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) cantilevered laminate specimens was carefully studied. Moreover, a method based on the frequency response function was proposed to monitor the fatigue damage accumulation of specimens. On the basis of that, the influence factors that affect the vibration fatigue life of CFRP were experimentally studied. The influence of amplitude probability distribution of the vibration load spectrum on the fatigue life was deeply explored. Compared with Gaussian random vibration, the non-Gaussian random load has a significant impact on the vibration fatigue life of CFRP. The experimental results also showed that the magnitude of power spectral density (PSD) has a significant effect on the vibration fatigue life of specimens. For Gaussian vibration load, the frequency bandwidth almost has no effects on the vibration fatigue life of CFRP. However, for non-Gaussian vibration load, it has a great impact on the fatigue life. When PSD magnitude and frequency bandwidth are constant, the root mean square (RMS) is proportional to the vibration fatigue life of composites.

Composite structure often shows undesirably significant uncertainty in its mechanical properties, which may consequently result into large stochastic variation of its natural frequency. This study provides stochastic natural frequency analysis of typical composite structures based on micro-scale (constituent-scale) and meso-scale (ply-scale) uncertainty. Uncertainty propagation across micro-scale and meso-scale is investigated. Response surface method (RSM) based on finite element modeling is employed to obtain approximate natural frequency of structures with complex shape or boundary conditions, and mean value and standard deviation of natural frequency of composite plate and cylindrical shell are derived. Differences in natural frequency statistics of composite plates and cylindrical shells derived by considering uncertainty at different scales are quantified and discussed. Significant statistical correlation between ply elastic properties and ply density is observed, and the statistical correlation is demonstrated to lay great influence on the statistics of structure natural frequency.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Intracranial Artery Stenosis (ICAS) is one of the most common causes of ischemic stroke in Asia. Previous studies have shown the number of ideal cardiovascular health (CVH) metrics was associated with lower risk of stroke. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between ideal CVH metrics and prevalence of ICAS. METHODS: A random sample of 5,412 participants (selected from Kailuan Study as a reference population) aged 40 years or older (40.10% women), free of stroke, transient ischemic attack, and coronary disease, were enrolled in the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community study from 2010 to 2011. We collected information on the seven CVH metrics (including smoking, body mass index, dietary intake, physical activity, blood pressure, total cholesterol and fasting blood glucose); and assessed ICAS by transcranial Doppler. The relationship between the ideal CVH metrics and prevalence of ICAS was analyzed using the multivariate logistic regression. RESULTS: After adjusting for age, sex, and other potential confounders, the adjusted odds ratios(95% confidence interval) for ICAS were 0.76(0.58-0.99), 0.55(0.43-0.72), 0.49(0.37-0.65), 0.43(0.31-0.61), and 0.36(0.22-0.62), respectively, for those having 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6-7 ideal CVH metrics compared with those having 0-1 ideal metric(p-trend

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to assess the association between non-high-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (non-HDL-C) and the prevalence of asymptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis (ICAS). METHODS AND RESULTS: The Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community (APAC) study is a prospective cohort study based on the Kailuan district (China) population. A total of 5351 eligible subjects, aged ≥40, and without history of stroke or myocardial infarction, were enrolled in this study. Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography (TCD) was performed on all enrolled subjects for the evaluation of ICAS presence. Out of 5351 patients, 698 subjects showed evidence of ICAS (prevalence of 13.04%).
