Adventitious root (AR) formation is vital for successful cutting propagation in plants, while the dynamic regulation of phytohormones is viewed as one of the most important factors affecting AR formation. Cyclocarya paliurus, a hard-to-root plant, is faced with the bottleneck of cloning its superior varieties in practice. In this study, ten treatments were designed to figure out the best hormone-based formula for promoting AR formation in softwood cuttings and explore their hormone-regulating mechanisms. Both the rooting process and the rooting parameters of the softwood cuttings were significantly affected by different hormone-based formulas (p < 0.05), while the greatest rooting rate (93%) and root quality index were achieved in the H3 formula (SR3:IR3 = 1:1). Significant differences in the measured phytohormone concentrations, as well as in their ratios, were detected among the cuttings sampled at various AR formation stages (p < 0.05), whereas the dynamics for each phytohormone varied greatly during AR formation. The transcriptome analysis showed 12,028 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified during the rooting process of C. paliurus cuttings, while the KEGG enrichment analysis indicated that a total of 20 KEGG terms were significantly enriched in all the comparison samples, with 253 DEGs detected in signal transduction. Furthermore, 19 genes with vital functions in regulating the hormone signaling pathway were identified by means of a WGCNA analysis. Our results not only optimize a hormone-based formula for improving the rooting of C. paliurus cuttings but also provide an insight into the hormonal regulatory network during AR formation in softwood C. paliurus cuttings.

To increase the yield of secondary metabolites, Arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi were used to improve cyclocarya paliurus. The experiment measured growth indicators, biomass, mineral nutrients, etc. The results showed that after inoculation with mycorrhizal fungi the nitrogen content in the leaves of the experimental group was 27.87 mg/g, K content was 7.48 mg/g, Ca content was 26.63 mg/g, and Mg content was 2.82 mg/g. Compared with the control group (Cg), mycorrhizal fungi can promote the absorption of mineral nutrients by C. paliurus seedlings. A. mycorrhizal fungi had a certain influence on the proportion of root, stem, leaf, and total biomass of C. paliurus seedlings, and their biomass distribution in various parts was relatively balanced. A. mycorrhizal fungi can significantly increase the biomass of willow seedlings’ stems and significantly increase their proportion in the total biomass (p < 0.05). After mycorrhizal inoculation, the secondary metabolic yields of quinic acid, quercetin, and kaempferol in C. paliurus leaves were 0.87 mg/g, 0.32 mg/g, and 0.65 mg/g, respectively, higher than those in the Cg. It is concluded that the use of A. mycorrhizal to improve the survival rate of medicinal materials and ensure the quality of medicinal materials is a new idea for the industrial production of C. paliurus. Abstract Background Understanding the clinical implications of autoimmune manifestations associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) is essential to reduce its consequences. This study was aimed at determining the activities of new‐onset primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) since the emergence of SARS‐CoV‐2. Methods This retrospective cohort study included data from 471 participants with dry mouths and eyes who had been attending Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital since December 2019. By April 2023, patients diagnosed with pSS were sequentially assigned to vaccinated group (n = 24) or vaccinated and infected group based on exposure (n = 20). Patients diagnosed with pSS within 3 months of vaccination against SARS‐CoV‐2 were assigned to a vaccinated group, and those who had been vaccinated and then developed pSS within 3 months of follow up after direct exposure to SARS‐CoV‐2 were assigned to a vaccinated and infected group. The controls comprised age‐ and sex‐matched patients who had not been exposed to SARS‐CoV‐2 before December 2019 (n = 21). We then compared data among the three groups. Results The vaccinated and infected patients had more fever, malaise, splenomegaly, and weight loss before diagnosis and a higher European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology Sjögren's syndrome disease activity index at the time of onset than the other two groups. Vaccinated patients had a higher frequency of anti‐nuclear antibody (ANA) titers > 1:320 (n = 12; 50%) and anti‐phospholipid antibodies (aPL) (n = 7; 29%) than the controls. The frequency of anti‐Ro/SSA antibodies (13, 65%), ANA titers > 1:320 (n = 16; 80%), and aPLs (n = 7; 29%) (n = 5; 25%) were all significantly higher in vaccinated patients with infection than those in the controls. Key Clinical Message Administering azathioprine or infliximab for UC and AS treatment carries a significant risk of adverse reactions. Here, we present the case diagnosed with UC and AS, who received treatment with azathioprine and infliximab for 10 months, and subsequently developed drug‐induced myopathy affecting the right vastus medialis muscle. Abstract Drug‐induced myopathy is an uncommon form of muscle injury that can arise in patients without preexisting muscle conditions when exposed to therapeutic doses of certain medications. Administering azathioprine or infliximab for ulcerative colitis (UC) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) treatment carries a significant risk of adverse reactions, including drug‐induced myopathy and increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections. However, occurrences of myopathy induced by the combination of azathioprine and infliximab are rarely reported in clinical practice. Here, we present the case of a 37‐year‐old male patient diagnosed with UC and AS, who received treatment with azathioprine and infliximab for 10 months. Despite the resolution of symptoms and improvement in intestinal mucosal inflammation observed via endoscopy, the patient subsequently developed drug‐induced myopathy affecting the right vastus medialis muscle.

Pansharpening, a pivotal task in remote sensing, involves integrating low-resolution multispectral images with high-resolution panchromatic images to synthesize an image that is both high-resolution and retains multispectral information. These pansharpened images enhance precision in land cover classification, change detection, and environmental monitoring within remote sensing data analysis. While deep learning techniques have shown significant success in pansharpening, existing methods often face limitations in their evaluation, focusing on restricted satellite data sources, single scene types, and low-resolution images. This paper addresses this gap by introducing PanBench, a high-resolution multi-scene dataset containing all mainstream satellites and comprising 5898 pairs of samples. Each pair includes a four-channel (RGB + near-infrared) multispectral image of 256 × 256 pixels and a mono-channel panchromatic image of 1024 × 1024 pixels. To avoid irreversible loss of spectral information and achieve a high-fidelity synthesis, we propose a Cascaded Multiscale Fusion Network (CMFNet) for pansharpening. Multispectral images are progressively upsampled while panchromatic images are downsampled. Corresponding multispectral features and panchromatic features at the same scale are then fused in a cascaded manner to obtain more robust features. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of CMFNet.

Important transformations of the pectoral girdle are related to the appearance of flight capabilities in the Dinosauria. Previous studies on this topic focused mainly on paravians yet recent data suggests flight evolved in dinosaurs several times, including at least once among non-avialan paravians. Thus, to fully explore the evolution of flight-related avian shoulder girdle characteristics, it is necessary to compare morphology more broadly. Here, we present information from pennaraptoran specimens preserving pectoral girdle elements, including all purportedly volant taxa, and extensively compare aspects of the shoulder joint. The results show that many pectoral girdle modifications appear during the evolution from basal pennaraptorans to paravians, including changes in the orientation of the coracoid body and the location of the articulation between the furcula and scapula. These modifications suggest a change in forelimb range of motion preceded the origin of flight in paravians. During the evolution of early avialans, additional flight adaptive transformations occur, such as the separation of the scapula and coracoid and reduction of the articular surface between these two bones, reduction in the angle between these two elements, and elongation of the coracoid. The diversity of coracoid morphologies and types of articulations joining the scapula-coracoid suggest that each early avialan lineage evolved these features in parallel as they independently evolved more refined flight capabilities. In early ornithothoracines, the orientation of the glenoid fossa and location of the acrocoracoid approaches the condition in extant birds, suggesting a greater range of motion in the flight stroke, which may represent the acquisition of improved powered flight capabilities, such as ground take-off. The formation of a new articulation between the coracoid and furcula in the Ornithuromorpha is the last step in the formation of an osseous triosseal canal, which may indicate the complete acquisition of the modern flight apparatus. These morphological transitions equipped birds with a greater range of motion, increased and more efficient muscular output and while at the same time transmitting the increased pressure being generated by ever more powerful flapping movements in such a way as to protect the organs. The driving factors and functional adaptations of many of these transitional morphologies are as yet unclear although ontogenetic transitions in forelimb function observed in extant birds provide an excellent framework through which we can explore the behavior of Mesozoic pennaraptorans.

Online learning has evolved as an attractive and viable option for education, yet there is a need for further research to investigate the factors contributing to students' online learning anxiety regarding the college English course. Based on Keegan's distance education framework, this study examines the factors impacting online learning anxiety among English as foreign language (EFL) students in the Chinese context during the post-COVID-19 era. Data were collected from 899 EFL students across different regions of China through an online survey. Follow-up interviews with ten students provided additional insights into the association between online English learning and anxiety. The collected data underwent descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between online learning anxiety and the identified factors. The results of our study indicate that many Chinese EFL students experienced different degrees of anxiety, ranging from mild to moderate or severe. Moreover, online learning anxiety among Chinese EFL students was positively predicted by a lack of learning motivation, separation from instructors, separation from peers, and technological challenges, while a lack of two-way communication negatively predicted it. The findings underscore the importance of taking effective measures and offering psychological guidance for Chinese EFL students to alleviate anxiety and facilitate their successful adaptation to the new normal of online learning.

Typhoons are natural disasters characterized by their high frequency of occurrence and significant impact, often leading to secondary disasters. In this study, we propose a prediction model for the trend of typhoon disasters. Utilizing neural networks, we calculate the forgetting gate, update gate, and output gate to forecast typhoon intensity, position, and disaster trends. By employing the concept of big data, we collected typhoon data using Python technology and verified the model's performance. Overall, the model exhibited a good fit, particularly for strong tropical storms. However, improvements are needed to enhance the forecasting accuracy for tropical depressions, typhoons, and strong typhoons. The model demonstrated a small average error in predicting the latitude and longitude of the typhoon's center position, and the predicted path closely aligned with the actual trajectory.

OBJECTIVE: The objective is to explore the correlation between carotid artery calcification score and cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) after carotid artery stenting (CAS) in patients with carotid artery stenosis. METHODS: Consecutive patients treated for carotid artery stenosis from October 2016 to August 2021 from two centers were studied. Carotid artery calcification score was manually segmented on multi-detector row spiral computed tomography angiography scans before CAS. The associations between carotid artery calcification score and the occurrence of CHS during the in-hospital time were assessed. RESULTS: A total of 175 patients were enrolled in the study. The mean age was 72.12 ± 7.51 years. All patients were undergone CAS treatment successfully. There were 46 cases that occurred CHS (26.29%). Univariate logistic regression analyses showed that for every 1 unit (100-score) increase in carotid artery calcification score, the risk of CHS increased by 1937% (odds ratio [OR] = 20.37, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 7.54–55.03, P < 0.01). In addition, the increasing rate was significantly different between the open-cell group (OR = 261.7, P < 0.01) and the closed-cell group (OR = 11.4, P < 0.01). The area under curve of predictiong model of carotid artery calcification score to CHS was 0.84 (95% CI, 0.75–0.93). CONCLUSION: Carotid artery calcification score was an independent risk factor for CHS in patients who underwent CAS. The application of carotid artery calcification score as risk factor in clinical screening of carotid artery stenosis patients may have beneficial effects on the management of CAS.

Connectivity plays an important role in measuring the fault tolerance of interconnection networks. As a special class of connectivity, m-component connectivity is a natural generalization of the traditional connectivity of graphs defined in terms of the minimum vertex cut. Moreover, it is a more advanced metric to assess the fault tolerance of a graph G. Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a non-complete graph. A subset F(F⊆V(G)) is called an m-component cut of G, if G−F is disconnected and has at least m components (m≥2). The m-component connectivity of G, denoted by cκm(G), is the cardinality of the minimum m-component cut. Let CFn denote the n-dimensional leaf-sort graph. Since many structures do not exist in leaf-sort graphs, many of their properties have not been studied. In this paper, we show that cκ3(CFn)=3n−6 (n is odd) and cκ3(CFn)=3n−7 (n is even) for n≥3; cκ4(CFn)=9n−212 (n is odd) and cκ4(CFn)=9n−242 (n is even) for n≥4.

A new species of Confuciusornis, a genus of basal birds from the Early Cretaceous, reveals that these early birds had stronger flight capability and more diverse flight modes than previously expected.

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the potential role of serum nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) in non-traumatic osteonecrosis of femoral head (NONFH). Methods A total of 113 NONFH patients and 81 healthy individuals were included in this study. The NAMPT levels in serum were measured by a commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. Radiographic progression was determined using Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO) classification system. Clinical severity was assessed by Harris hip score (HHS) and visual analogue scale (VAS). Correlations between serum NAMPT and radiographic progression as well as clinical severity were evaluated statistically. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to evaluate the diagnostic values of NAMPT in NONFH potential and disease severity. Results The serum NAMPT levels in NONFH patients were significantly lower than that in healthy controls. There were no significant differences among alcohol-induced group, steroids-induced group, and idiopathic group. NONFH patients with ARCO stage 4 had significant lower serum NAMPT levels in comparisons with ARCO stage 3 and 2, respectively. Lower serum NAMPT levels were also observed in bilateral NONFH cases compared with cases with unilateral NONFH. In addition, serum NAMPT was negatively correlated with ARCO stages and VAS scores, and positively correlated with HHS. ROC curve analysis indicated that serum NAMPT may serve as a novel biomarker for diagnosing early NONFH and for monitoring disease severity. Conclusions Our results suggest that serum NAMPT may serve as a novel biomarker for NONFH potential and disease severity.

Abstract Objective The mechanism by which mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) transplantation alleviates atherosclerosis in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains elusive. In this study, we aim to explore the efficacy and mechanism of MSC in ameliorating atherosclerosis in SLE. Methods ApoE−/− and Fas−/− mice on the B6 background were cross-bred to generate SLE mice with atherosclerosis. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) were sorted and quantified. The apoE−/−Fas−/− mice were either treated with anti-Gr antibody or injected with MDSCs. The lupus-like autoimmunity and atherosclerotic lesions were evaluated. Furthermore, the apoE−/−Fas−/− mice were transplanted with MSCs and lupus-like autoimmunity and atherosclerotic lesions were assessed. Results MDSCs in peripheral blood, spleen, draining lymph nodes increased in apoE−/−Fas−/− mice compared with B6 mice. Moreover, the adoptive transfer of MDSCs aggravated both atherosclerosis and SLE pathologies, whereas depleting MDSCs ameliorated those pathologies in apoE−/−Fas−/− mice. MSC transplantation in apoE−/−Fas−/− mice decreased the percentage of MDSCs, alleviated the typical atherosclerotic lesions, including atherosclerotic lesions in aortae and liver, and reduced serum cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein levels. MSC transplantation also reduced SLE pathologies, including splenomegaly, glomerular lesions, anti-dsDNA antibody in serum, urine protein and serum creatinine. Moreover, MSC transplantation regulated the generation and function of MDSCs through secreting prostaglandin E 2 (PGE2). Conclusion Taken together, these results indicated that the increased MDSCs contributed to atherosclerosis in SLE. MSC transplantation ameliorated the atherosclerosis and SLE through reducing MDSCs by secreting PGE2. Graphical Abstract

There is a complex interaction between lightning-caused fire behavior and the flora and fauna of the forest, which involves the influence of a large number of ecological factors. However, more comprehensive simulation studies under multi-system interactions between lightning ignition, forest fire spread, and animal behavior are not well developed. In this paper, we propose a forest ecosystem model based on the Agent-based modelling approach to explore the detailed linkages between different forms of lightning-caused fires and forest biodiversity. The model simulates the lightning ignition, fire spread, vegetation burning and recovery, and multi-species-survival dynamics. The experimental results show the sensitivity between environmental parameters and the magnitude of lightning-caused fires, and the beneficial ecological consequences of lightning-caused fires on forest ecosystems. By exploring detailed linkages between different forms of lightning-caused fires and forest biodiversity, we provide theoretical insights and reference suggestions for forest system governance and biodiversity conservation.

This paper studies the edge-fault-tolerant strong Menger edge connectivity of $ n $-dimensional bubble-sort graph $ B_{n} $. We give the values of faulty edges that $ B_{n} $ can tolerant when $ B_{n} $ is strongly Menger edge connected under two conditions. When there are $ (n-3) $ faulty edges removed from $ B_{n} $, the $ B_{n} $ network is still working and it is strongly Menger edge connected. When the condition of any vertex in $ B_{n} $ has at least two neighbors is imposed, the number of faulty edges that can removed from $ B_{n} $ is $ (2n-6) $ when $ B_{n} $ is also strongly Menger edge connected. And two special cases are used to illustrate the correctness of the conclusions. The conclusions can help improve the reliability of the interconnection networks.

BackgroundCarotid body tumor (CBT) is a rare paraganglioma located at the carotid bifurcation. The red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit are indexes to be evaluated in blood routine tests. The purpose of this study was to clarify their predictive value for temporary postoperative complications in patients that had undergone CBT surgery.MethodsThis retrospective trial included data from 169 patients received surgical treatment for CBT from October 2008 to September 2018 in this retrospective study. Postoperative follow-up was conducted under the guidance of both vascular surgeon and neurologist. The symptoms existed less than 2 years postoperatively were regarded as temporary injuries. The red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit were obtained from the complete blood count results of the participants. Analyses of multilevel multivariable regression and descriptive statistics were conducted.ResultsThe baseline data showed no significant difference. Patients were predominantly women (53.8%), with a mean age of 42.6 years. The total incidence of temporary postoperative complications was 22 (13.0%), including transient ischemic attack (8, 4.7%), tongue bias (7, 4.1%), dysphagia (2, 1.2%), hoarseness (4, 1.8%), and eyelid ptosis (1, 2.4%). The univariate and multivariate regression analysis results revealed that the occurrence of temporary postoperative complications was increased with age [odd ratio (OR, 0.09; 95% CI (CI), 0.9–1.0; P = 0.014], length of operation time (OR, 1.0; 95% CI, 1.0–1.0; P = 0.005), Shamblin type II vs. I (OR, 0.1; 95% CI, 0.0–0.5; P = 0.008), red blood cell count postoperative (OR, 0.2; 95% CI, 0.1–0.8; P = 0.026), hemoglobin (OR, 0.9; 95% CI, 0.9–1.0; P = 0.011), and hematocrit (OR, 0.8; 95% CI, 0.7–1.0; P = 0.025). The smooth curve fitting showed that the trend of complications occurrence rate was reduced with the increase of patients’ postoperative red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. Gender, weight, length of operation, Shamblin type, postoperative red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit were included in the risk model with AUC = 0.86.ConclusionThese patients with CBT who received surgical resection with low postoperative red blood cell, hemoglobin, or hematocrit had a high risk of temporary postoperative complications. The risk prediction model established for predicting temporary postoperative complications showed satisfactory prediction effects.

Abstract Background The severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is highly heterogeneous. Studies have reported that males and some ethnic groups are at increased risk of death from COVID-19, which implies that individual risk of death might be influenced by host genetic factors. Methods In this project, we consider the mortality as the trait of interest and perform a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of data for 1778 infected cases (445 deaths, 25.03%) distributed by the UK Biobank. Traditional GWAS fails to identify any genome-wide significant genetic variants from this dataset. To enhance the power of GWAS and account for possible multi-loci interactions, we adopt the concept of super variant for the detection of genetic factors. A discovery-validation procedure is used for verifying the potential associations. Results We find 8 super variants that are consistently identified across multiple replications as susceptibility loci for COVID-19 mortality. The identified risk factors on chromosomes 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 16, and 17 contain genetic variants and genes related to cilia dysfunctions (DNAH7 and CLUAP1), cardiovascular diseases (DES and SPEG), thromboembolic disease (STXBP5), mitochondrial dysfunctions (TOMM7), and innate immune system (WSB1). It is noteworthy that DNAH7 has been reported recently as the most downregulated gene after infecting human bronchial epithelial cells with SARS-CoV-2. Conclusions Eight genetic variants are identified to significantly increase the risk of COVID-19 mortality among the patients with white British ancestry. These findings may provide timely clues and potential directions for better understanding the molecular pathogenesis of COVID-19 and the genetic basis of heterogeneous susceptibility, with potential impact on new therapeutic options.

Non-magnetic metal nanoparticles have been previously applied for the growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). However, the activation mechanisms of non-magnetic metal catalysts and chirality distribution of synthesized SWNTs remain unclear. In this work, the activation mechanisms of non-magnetic metal palladium (Pd) particles supported by the magnesia carrier and thermodynamic stabilities of nucleated SWNTs with different (n, m) are evaluated by theoretical simulations. The electronic metal–support interaction between Pd and magnesia upshifts the d-band center of Pd, which promotes the chemisorption and dissociation of carbon precursor molecules on the Pd surface, making the activation of magnesia-supported non-magnetic Pd catalysts for SWNT growth possible. To verify the theoretical results, a porous magnesia supported Pd catalyst is developed for the bulk synthesis of SWNTs by chemical vapor deposition. The chirality distribution of Pd-grown SWNTs is understood by operating both Pd–SWNT interfacial formation energy and SWNT growth kinetics. This work not only helps to gain new insights into the activation of catalysts for growing SWNTs, but also extends the use of non-magnetic metal catalysts for bulk synthesis of SWNTs.

The morphology of the pectoral girdle, the skeletal structure connecting the wing to the body, is a key determinant of flight capability, but in some respects is poorly known among stem birds. Here, the pectoral girdles of the Early Cretaceous birds Sapeornis and Piscivorenantiornis are reconstructed for the first time based on computed tomography and three-dimensional visualization, revealing key morphological details that are important for our understanding of early-flight evolution. Sapeornis exhibits a double articulation system (widely present in non-enantiornithine pennaraptoran theropods including crown birds), which involves, alongside the main scapula-coracoid joint, a small subsidiary joint, though variation exists with respect to the shape and size of the main and subsidiary articular contacts in non-enantiornithine pennaraptorans. This double articulation system contrasts with Piscivorenantiornis in which a spatially restricted scapula-coracoid joint is formed by a single set of opposing articular surfaces, a feature also present in other members of Enantiornithines, a major clade of stem birds known only from the Cretaceous. The unique single articulation system may reflect correspondingly unique flight behavior in enantiornithine birds, but this hypothesis requires further investigation from a functional perspective. Our renderings indicate that both Sapeornis and Piscivorenantiornis had a partially closed triosseal canal (a passage for muscle tendon that plays a key role in raising the wing), and our study suggests that this type of triosseal canal occurred in all known non-euornithine birds except Archaeopteryx, representing a transitional stage in flight apparatus evolution before the appearance of a fully closed bony triosseal canal as in modern birds. Our study reveals additional lineage-specific variations in pectoral girdle anatomy, as well as significant modification of the pectoral girdle along the line to crown birds. These modifications produced diverse pectoral girdle morphologies among Mesozoic birds, which allowed a commensurate range of capability levels and styles to emerge during the early evolution of flight.

Grassland is the largest terrestrial ecosystem in the Yellow River Basin and an important ecological barrier in the basin. Scientific and accurate estimation of the service value of grassland ecosystems in the Yellow River Basin is of great significance for maintaining the ecological security of the Yellow River Basin. This study was based on Constanza, a method based on the correction of natural grassland ecosystem service value in the Yellow River Basin. This method considers grassland biomass, estimates the ecological service value of each type of grassland item by item, and analyzes their spatial distribution and topographic gradient differentiation characteristics. The results showed that the unit price of soil conservation services provided by the grassland ecosystem in the Yellow River Basin has an advantage (6.2 times) which is the lowest unit price of raw materials. The total value of grassland ecosystem services in the Yellow River Basin is 100.82 × 1010 Yuan. Among the various services, the adjustment service has the largest value, accounting for 50.56% of the total value, while the sum of the supply service, support service and cultural service amounted to 49.44%. The high-value areas of grassland ecosystem services are mainly distributed in the upper and lower reaches of the basin, as the low-value areas are located in the Ningxia and Hetao Plains and most parts of the Loess Plateau. The ESV per unit area of grassland in the Yellow River Basin showed a decreasing to increasing trend with the increase in elevation and topographic relief, as the ESV continued to increase with slope increase.

The study of interconnection networks is a hot topic for multiprocessor systems. Diagnosability plays an important role in the study of interconnection networks. A new measure for fault diagnosis of a system is proposed by Peng et al. in 2012. It is called g-good-neighbour diagnosability which restrains every fault-free vertex containing at least g fault-free neighbours. The n-dimensional modified bubble-sort graph $MB_{n} $ is a special Cayley graph. In this paper, we give that the 2-good-neighbour diagnosability of $MB_{n} $ under the PMC model is 4n−5 for $n\geq 4 $ and the 2-good-neighbour diagnosability of $MB_{n} $ under the $MM^{*} $ model is 4n−5 for $n\geq 4 $.

Abstract: Backgroud: Traumatic Aortic Dissection is a emergency that patients will face soon death, even there is no enough time to transport patient to the hospital. In this study we retrospectively analyze the long-term therapeutic effects of endovascular treatment of traumatic Type B aortic dissection to get some inspiration for the next step treatment and to provide a useful guidance. Method: 21 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection caused by trauma endovascular treatment after strict condition assessment in our vascular center from December 1999 to May 2012 was recruited into this retrospective study. The overall diameter of the aorta, the number of tears and the extent of the dissection were observed based on three-dimensional reconstruction of the CTA during the follow-up. The recurrence of the operation and the 2-year and 5-year survival rates were recorded. Conclusion: Endovascular treatment of traumatic aortic dissection increases the survival rate of these patients who cannot tolerate traditional open surgery. This survival benefit sustained throughout the long-term follow-up.

Abstract Background Traumatic experiences during childhood or adolescence are a significant risk factor for multiple psychiatric disorders and adversely affect multiple cognitive functions. Resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging has been used to investigate the effects of traumatic experiences on functional connectivity, but the impact of sex differences has not been well documented. This study investigated sex‐specific associations between resting‐state functional connectivity (rsFC) and traumatic experiences in typically developing youth. Methods The sample comprised 1395 participants, aged 8–21 years, from the Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort. Traumatic experiences were assessed based on the structured psychiatric evaluation. Sex, the number of traumatic events, and their interaction were regressed onto voxel‐wise intrinsic connectivity distribution parameter values derived from resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging. Brain regions that passed cluster correction were used as seeds to define resting‐state networks. Results After quality control, the final sample had 914 participants with mean (SD) age 14.6 (3.3) years; 529 (57.8%) females; 437 (47.8%) experienced at least one kind of traumatic event. Four discrete anatomical clusters showed decreased functional connectivity as the number of traumatic events increased. The resting‐state networks defined by using these four clusters as seeds corresponded with the somatomotor network. Sex‐specific associations were identified in another three clusters for which males showed increased connectivity, and females showed decreased connectivity as the number of traumatic events increased. The resting‐state networks defined by the three sex‐specific clusters corresponded with the default mode network (DMN). Conclusions In youth without psychiatric diagnoses, traumatic experiences are associated with an alteration of rsFC in brain regions corresponding with the somatomotor network. Associations differ in direction between males and females in brain regions corresponding with the DMN, suggesting sex‐specific responses to early exposure to trauma.

Homogenously dispersing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in solvents has been one critical step towards exploiting their exceptional properties in high-performance components. However, the solubility of SWNTs is severely limited by the inert tube surfaces and strong tube-tube van der Waals attractions. Starting with carbon nanotubides, i.e., negatively charged SWNTs reduced by alkali metals, we herein propose a sonication-free approach to prepare an aqueous dispersion of SWNTs. The approach combines the spontaneous dissolution of nanotubides in polar aprotic solvents with polyvinylpyrrolidone wrapping and dialysis in deionized H2O, which results in well-dispersed, neutralized SWNTs. The gelation of concentrated SWNT dispersion leads to the formation of hydrogels, which is subsequently transformed into SWNT aerogels through lyophilization. The prepared SWNT aerogels exhibit high-mass-sorption capacities for organic solvent absorption, paving the way towards harvesting the extraordinary properties of SWNTs.

The ontogenetic development of extant birds is characterized by rapid growth, bone fusion and an early onset of flight ability. In contrast, little is known about how these ontogenetic traits evolved in the bird stem lineage, and the available data pertains primarily to Enantiornithes. Here, we describe an almost complete skeleton of a juvenile euornithine bird (LNTU-WLMP-18) from the Early Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation (Aptian), which was discovered near Lamadong Town (Jianchang County, Liaoning, China). Despite its completeness, bone preservation is rather poor. Thus, to increase the contrast between bone tissue and matrix, we used cyan-red-based autofluorescence photography. The specimen is more or less articulated and exposed in ventral aspect. The jaws are edentulous, the coracoid bears a procoracoid process, and the ischium lacks a proximodorsal process. The pedal unguals are short and barely curved, indicating a ground-dwelling lifestyle. Feathers, including long primaries, are present as carbonized traces. Several characters indicate that LNTU-WLMP-18 is a juvenile: the bone surface has a coarsely striated texture and no fusion is evident between the carpals and metacarpals, between the tibia and the astragalus and calcaneum, or among the metatarsals. Although juvenile characters have the potential to impede accurate identification of the specimen, morphological comparisons and cladistic analysis identify LNTU-WLMP-18 as most likely referable to the basal euornithine Archaeorhynchus, which would make the specimen the first juvenile bird from the Jehol Group that could be assigned to a specific taxon. Based on its size and the incomplete ossification of the bone surface, LNTU-WLMP-18 represents the smallest and therefore youngest known individual of this genus. A statistical comparison of limb proportions shows that the forelimbs of LNTU-WLMP-18 are significantly shorter than the hindlimbs, while the forelimbs are longer than the hindlimbs in subadult and adult individuals. This is different from the situation in some Enantiornithes, in which the forelimbs exceed the length of the hindlimbs even in hatchlings. Similar to Enantiornithes, Archaeorhynchus probably exhibit an early onset of flight ability, as indicated by the extensive wing plumage in LNTU-WLMP-18. Finally, the lack of gastroliths in the visceral cavity might indicate a dietary shift in Archaeorhynchus during ontogeny. As a small-bodied, ground-dwelling, seed-eating bird with a precocial ontogeny, Archaeorhynchus filled an ecological niche that later allowed early crown birds to survive the K-Pg mass extinction.

Abstract Background The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between Talin-1 and stability of carotid atherosclerosis plaque and also find out the role of miRNA, as an upstream regulator, in regulating the expression level of Talin-1. Methods Human carotid plaques were obtained from 20 symptomatic carotid stenosis patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy (CEA) in our hospital between October 2014 and August 2017. Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry was carried out to detect the distribution and expression level of Talin-1 in each plaque sample. The content of miRNAs in carotid plaque was decected by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), and the relative expression levels were calculated by 2-△△Ct method after the (cycle threshold) Ct value (power amplification knee point) was obtained. Dual-luciferase reporter assays were applied to verify the successful transfections. Finally, we compared all the groups with independent-samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). In this paper, we show that the r-restricted connectivity of HPn is -1/2r2 + (n - 3/2)r + n and HPn is two super r-restricted connected for n ≥ 4 and 0 ≤ r ≤ n - 3.

The connectivity and diagnosability of a system or a network are two important measures. In 1996, Fàbrega and Fiol proposed the $h$ -extra connectivity of the network $G=(V,E)$ , which is necessary for $(h,m)$ -diagnosability of networks. In 2016, Zhang et al. proposed the $(h,m)$ -diagnosability of $G$ that requires every component of $G-S$ has at least $(h+1)$ nodes for $S\subseteq V$ . The locally twisted cube $LTQ_{n}$ is applied widely. There are many studies on $LTQ_{n}$ . In this paper, we show that the $h$ -extra connectivity of $LTQ_{n}$ is $n-\frac {1}{2}h(h-2n+3)$ for $n\geq 5$ and $0\leq h\leq n-3$ , and $m$ of the $(h,m)$ -diagnosability of $LTQ_{n}$ is $n-\frac {1}{2}h(h-2n+1)$ for $n\geq 5$ , $0\leq h\leq n-3$ in the PMC model and $n\geq 7$ , $0\leq h\leq n-3$ in the MM $^{*}$ model, respectively.

Applying the ultrasonic machining in gear honing can improve honing speed, reduce cutting force, and avoid blocking. There are two problems leading to the decrease of calculation accuracy in the traditional nonresonant theory of the ultrasonic gear honing. One is that one-dimensional longitudinal vibration theory and two-dimensional theory cannot reflect the vibration characteristics of ultrasonic horn and gear comprehensively. And, the other one is that the difference of the analysis dimension between the two theories leads to mismatch of the coupling condition dimension between ultrasonic horn and gear. A free vibration analysis through Chebyshev–Ritz method based on three-dimensional elasticity theory was presented to analyze the eigenfrequencies of the horn-gear system in ultrasonic gear honing. In the method, the model of the horn-gear system was divided into four parts: a solid circular plate, an annular plate, a solid cylinder, and a cone with hole. The eigenvalue equations were derived by using displacement coupling condition between each part under completely free boundary condition. It was found that the eigenfrequencies were highly convergent through convergence study. The hammering method for a modal experiment was used to test the horn-gear systems’ eigenfrequencies. And, the finite element method was also applied to solve the eigenfrequencies. Through a comparative analysis of the frequencies obtained by these three methods, it showed that the results achieved by the Chebyshev–Ritz method were close to those obtained from the experiment and finite element method. Thus, it was feasible to use the Chebyshev–Ritz method to solve the eigenfrequencies of the horn-gear system in ultrasonic gear honing.

Beipiaosaurus inexpectus, from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation (Sihetun locality, near Beipiao), Liaoning, China, is a key taxon for understanding the early evolution of therizinosaurians. Since initial publication in 1999, only the cranial elements of this taxon have been described in detail. Here we present a detailed description of the postcranial skeletal anatomy of the holotype specimen of B. inexpectus, including two never before described dorsal vertebrae from the anterior half of the series. Based on these observations, and comparisons with the postcranial skeleton of therizinosaurian taxa named since the most recent diagnosis, we revised the diagnostic features for B. inexpectus adding three new possible autapomorphies (PII-3 shorter than PIII-4, subequal length of the pre- and postacetabular portions of the ilium, and equidimensional pubic peduncle of ilium). Additionally, we also propose three possible synapomorphies for more inclusive taxa (Therizinosauroidea and Therizinosauridae) and discuss implications for evolutionary trends within Therizinosauria. The newly acquired data from the postcranial osteology of the holotype specimen of B. inexpectus sheds light on our understanding of postcranial skeletal evolution and identification of therizinosaurians.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients exist an imbalance between regulatory T (Treg) and T helper 17 cells (Th17), which might be contributed by defective immune regulation of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) from SLE patients. Our microRNA array analysis showed markedly down-regulated expression levels of microRNA let-7f in BM-MSCs from SLE patients compared to those from normal controls (NOR). To explore the role of let-7f in the disease pathogenesis, we showed that expression levels of let-7f in SLE BM-MSCs were negatively associated with SLE disease activity, and the predicted let-7 family targeted gene expression of interlukin-6 (IL-6) was significantly higher in BM-MSCs from SLE patients compared to normal controls (NOR). Transient transfection of BM-MSCs with let-7f mimics or inhibitors showed reduced levels of let-7f impaired the proliferation rate of BM-MSCs, BM-MSC-mediated downregulation of Th17 cells and upregulation of Treg cells, increased the apoptosis rate of BM-MSCs through targeting IL-6 and activating signal transducers and activators of transcription-3 (STAT3) pathway, but had no significant effect on the differentiation of Th1 and Th2. Our findings showed a key role of let-7f in the imbalance of Treg/Th17 mediated by SLE BM-MSCs, suggesting the potential of manipulating let-7f expression in BM-MSCs for treating SLE patients.

Traditional electrodeposition of carbon films requires organic solvents or organic acids to serve as the carbon source. In this study, we demonstrated electrodeposition of carbon films from carbon dioxide (CO2) around room temperature. CO2 was dissolved in methanol with the help of elevated pressures, and tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate was used as the conducting salt. Carbon films could be obtained at cell voltages above 3 V. The highest deposition rate of 979 nm h−1 was achieved. The effects of cell voltage and cell pressure on the film morphology, deposition rate and current efficiency were investigated. The mechanism of reduction of CO2 to carbon films was also proposed in this study. The electrodeposited carbon films exhibited good hydrophobicity. Abstract The aim of the present study is to systematically evaluate the impact of RDN on cardiac structure and function in patients with resistant hypertension (RH) or diastolic dysfunction. We retrieved Pubmed, Embase and Cocharane Library databases, from inception to April 1st, 2016. Studies reporting left ventricular mass (LVMI) or left ventricular (LV) diastolic function (reflected by the ratio of mitral inflow velocity to annular relaxation velocity [E/e’]) responses to RDN were included. Two randomized controlled trials (RCTs), 3 controlled studies and 11 uncontrolled studies were finally identified. In observational studies, there was a reduction in LVMI, E/e’ and N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) at 6 months, compared with pre-RDN values. LV ejection fraction (LVEF) elevated at 6 months following RDN. In RCTs, however, no significant change in LVMI, E/e’, BNP, left atrial volume index or LVEF was observed at 12 months, compared with pharmaceutical therapy. In summary, both LV hypertrophy and cardiac function improved at 6 months after RDN. Nonetheless, current evidence failed to show that RDN was superior to intensive (optimal) drug therapy in improving cardiac remodeling and function.

The influence of different coupling agents and coupling times on the wettability of a polyurethane (PU) sponge surface were optimized. Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) was selected as the optimal coupling agent to prepare the superhydrophobic sponge. The superhydrophobic sponge was prepared in one step, which has the advantages of simple operation and enhanced durability. The superhydrophobic sponge was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Teclis Tracker tensiometry, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrophotometry. The water contact angle increased from 64.1° to 151.3°, exhibiting ideal superhydrophobicity. Oils and organic solvents with different viscosities and densities can be rapidly and selectively absorbed by superhydrophobic sponges, with an absorption capacity of 14.99 to 86.53 times the weight of the sponge itself, without absorbing any water. Since temperature affects the viscosity and ionic strength of oil, and influences the surface wettability of the sponges, the effect of temperature and ionic strength on the oil absorption capacity of the superhydrophobic sponges was measured, and its mechanism was elucidated. The results showed that the absorptive capacity retained more than 90% of the initial absorptive capacity after repeated use for 10 times. Low-cost, durable superhydrophobic sponges show great potential for large-scale oil-water separation.

Background/Aims: Angiopoietin-like protein 2 (ANGPTL2) was reported to be implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory disease. Its role in diabetic nephropathy (DN) remained illdefined. Methods: qRT-PCR and western blot analysis were performed to detect the expressions of ANGPTL2 or TLR4 in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced DN rats and HG-stimulated podocytes. The renal injury index including 24-h proteinuria, blood glucose level, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen were measured in DN rats using corresponding commercial kits. The effect of ANGPTL2 knockdown on the secretion or expression of inflammatory cytokines was detected by ELISA or qRT-PCR analysis. The effect of ANGPTL2 knockdown on extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation was determined by testing TGF-β1, Collagen-IV, fibronectin (FN) and PTEN expression via western blot. Results: ANGPTL2 and TLR4 were both highly expressed in DN rats compared with control group. ANGPTL2 knockdown alleviated renal injury in STZ-induced DN rat model. ANGPTL2 knockdown also suppressed inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α, MCP-1, IL-1β) expression and ECM accumulation (TGF-β1, Collagen-IV, FN, PTEN) in HG-induced podocytes. Moreover, ANGPTL2 knockdown led to a significant decrease of TLR4 expression in both DN rat and cell model. Furthermore, TAK-242 treatment exacerbated the inhibitory effect of ANGPTL2 knockdown on inflammatory cytokines expression and ECM accumulation in HG-induced podocytes. Conclusion: ANGPTL2 knockdown ameliorates DN by inhibiting TLR4 expression, an observation contributing to a better understanding of DN pathogenesis.

Ulcerative colitis (UC), with a long course and repeated attack, severely affects patient's life quality and increases economic burden all over the world. However, the concrete causes and mechanisms of UC are still unclear, but it is generally considered that many factors participate in this process. Qingchang Suppository (QCS) has been used in treating rectitis and colitis for about 30 years in Shanghai, China. Its satisfactory clinical effects have been proved. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect and mechanisms of QCS on colonic vascular endothelial barrier in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis. The results indicated that increased vascular permeability (VP) appeared earlier than increased intestinal epithelial permeability (EP) in the process of DSS-induced colitis. QCS attenuated colonic tissue edema, vascular congestion and inflammatory cell infiltration. QCS inhibited the elevation of MPO, TNF-α, and IL-6 levels in colon tissues and alleviated the microvascular damage induced by DSS. QCS also improved colonic hypoxia and decreased the expression of VEGF, HIF-1α, and iNOS. These results revealed that QCS can reduce colonic VP and can improve vascular endothelial barrier function maybe by regulating the VEGF/HIF-1α signaling pathway.

The diagnosability is an essential subject for the reliability of a multiple CPU system. As a celebrated topology structure of interconnection networks, an n-dimensional wheel network CWn has numerous great features. In this paper, we discuss the diagnosability of CWn with missing edges under the comparison model. Both the local diagnosability and the strong local diagnosability feature are studied; this feature depicts the equivalence of the local diagnosability of a node and its degree. We demonstrate that CWn(n≥6) possesses this feature, containing the strong feature even with up to 2n−4 missing edges in it, and the outcome is ideal regarding the amount of missing edges.

Traditional pesticide formulations show poor utilization and environmental safety due to their low foliage adhesion and large auxiliaries. In this study, a novel and environment-friendly indoxacarb formulation was prepared to improve the pesticide’s utilization rate, target control characteristics and ecological security. Indoxacarb-loaded waterborne polyurethane–sodium alginate (PU/SA) nanoemulsions with film forming properties, alkaline responsive release, high effectiveness against Spodoptera litura, and reduced acute contact toxicity for nontarget organisms were successfully prepared. The colloidal properties, swelling and release behaviors, leaf adhesion, degradation dynamics and bioactivity assay of the indoxacarb-loaded PU/SA nanoemulsions were determined. Results showed that the obtained indoxacarb-loaded microcapsule particulates were approximately 57 nm in diameter, electronegative −45.9 mV, and uniformly dispersed in the nanoemulsions. The dried latex films of PU/SA in the alkaline environment revealed better responsive swelling and release characteristics than those in acidic and neutral conditions. Compared with a commercial emulsifiable concentrate, the indoxacarb-loaded PU/SA nanoemulsions were useful for the targeted control of S. litura, which have alkaline gut and showed reduced acute contact toxicity to Harmonia axyridia. Furthermore, the PU/SA formulation had better foliage adhesion and indicated the property of controlled-release and a persistent effect.

Separation of CO2/CH4/N2 is significantly important from the view of environmental protection and energy utilization. In this work, we reported nitrogen (N)-doped porous carbon spheres prepared from sustainable biomass glucose via hydrothermal carbonization, CO2 activation, and urea treatment. The optimal carbon sample exhibited a high CO2 and CH4 capacity, as well as a low N2 uptake, under ambient conditions. The excellent selectivities toward CO2/N2, CO2/CH4, and CH4/N2 binary mixtures were predicted by ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) via correlating pure component adsorption isotherms with the Langmuir−Freundlich model. At 25 °C and 1 bar, the adsorption capacities for CO2 and CH4 were 3.03 and 1.3 mmol g−1, respectively, and the IAST predicated selectivities for CO2/N2 (15/85), CO2/CH4 (10/90), and CH4/N2 (30/70) reached 16.48, 7.49, and 3.76, respectively. These results should be attributed to the synergistic effect between suitable microporous structure and desirable N content. This report introduces a simple pathway to obtain N-doped porous carbon spheres to meet the flue gas and energy gas adsorptive separation requirements.

Volatile compounds from mashed (fresh, fallen, and dried) leaves of Michelia alba were collected via solid-phase microextraction and were then identified via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that linalool was the dominant component in different leaves, together with caryophyllene, β-elemene, and selinene, the contents of which vary across the samples. The fumigation bioassay results showed that the volatiles from M. alba leaves exhibited insecticidal activity against red imported fire ant workers, and the mortality of workers could reach up to 100% after the fallen leaves were treated for 16 h. Mashed fresh leaves could effectively reduce the aggregation and drinking ability of workers. The volatile substances released from the mashed leaves might kill the ants, or affect their behavior and weaken the activity by interfering transmit information between ants. A comprehensive consideration of the economic and ecological value of M. alba shows that fallen leaves might be a good resource to control red imported fire ant.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of NUDT15 R139C, thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT), and 6-TGN on azathioprine (AZA) induced leukopenia in Chinese autoimmune patients. Among 87 enrolled patients, 23 (26.4%) had leukopenia. The NUDT15 R139C variant was associated with leukopenia (p = 1.86 × 10−7; OR: 7.59; 95% CI: 3.16–18.21). However, TPMT genotype was not shown to be correlated with the incidence of leukopenia (p = 0.95). There was no significant difference of 6-TGN concentration between patients with or without leukopenia (p = 0.15) and no association was found in patients with NUDT15 R139C variants alleles (p = 0.62). Finally, we found that the range of 6-TGN concentrations in autoimmune diseases was much lower than the established 6-TGN monitoring range for inflammatory bowel diseases. Therefore, the variant of NUDT15 R139C is strongly associated with AZA-induced leukopenia in Chinese patients with various autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren's syndrome, etc.

Mass data processing and complex problem solving have higher and higher demands for performance of multiprocessor systems. Many multiprocessor systems have interconnection networks as underlying topologies. The interconnection network determines the performance of a multiprocessor system. The network is usually represented by a graph where nodes (vertices) represent processors and links (edges) represent communication links between processors. For the network G, two vertices u and v of G are said to be connected if there is a (u,v)-path in G. If G has exactly one component, then G is connected; otherwise G is disconnected. In the system where the processors and their communication links to each other are likely to fail, it is important to consider the fault tolerance of the network. For a connected network G=(V,E), its inverse problem is that G-F is disconnected, where F⊆V or F⊆E. The connectivity or edge connectivity is the minimum number of F. Connectivity plays an important role in measuring the fault tolerance of the network. As a topology structure of interconnection networks, the expanded k-ary n-cube XQnk has many good properties. In this paper, we prove that (1) XQnk is super edge-connected (n≥3); (2) the restricted edge connectivity of XQnk is 8n-2 (n≥3); (3) XQnk is super restricted edge-connected (n≥3).

Classification association rules that integrate association rules with classification are playing an important role in data mining. However, the time cost on constructing the classification model, and predicting new instances, will be long, due to the large number of rules generated during the mining of association rules, which also will result in the large system consumption. Therefore, this paper proposed a classification model based on atomic classification association rules, and applied it to construct the classification model of a Tibetan medical syndrome for the common plateau disease called Chronic Atrophic Gastritis. Firstly, introduce the idea of “relative support„, and use the constraint-based Apriori algorithm to mine the strong atomic classification association rules between symptoms and syndrome, and the knowledge base of Tibetan medical clinics will be constructed. Secondly, build the classification model of the Tibetan medical syndrome after pruning and prioritizing rules, and the idea of “partial classification„ and “first easy to post difficult„ strategy are introduced to realize the prediction of this Tibetan medical syndrome. Finally, validate the effectiveness of the classification model, and compare with the CBA algorithm and four traditional classification algorithms. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can realize the construction and classification of the classification model of the Tibetan medical syndrome in a shorter time, with fewer but more understandable rules, while ensuring a higher accuracy with 92.8%.

Diagnosability of a multiprocessor system is an important topic of study. A measure for fault diagnosis of the system restrains that every fault-free node has at least g fault-free neighbor vertices, which is called the g-good-neighbor diagnosability of the system. As a famous topology structure of interconnection networks, the n-dimensional bubble-sort graph B n has many good properties. In this paper, we prove that (1) the 1-good-neighbor diagnosability of B n is 2 n − 3 under Preparata, Metze, and Chien’s (PMC) model for n ≥ 4 and Maeng and Malek’s (MM) ∗ model for n ≥ 5 ; (2) the 2-good-neighbor diagnosability of B n is 4 n − 9 under the PMC model and the MM ∗ model for n ≥ 4 ; (3) the 3-good-neighbor diagnosability of B n is 8 n − 25 under the PMC model and the MM ∗ model for n ≥ 7 .

Diagnosability of a multiprocessor system is an important research topic. The system and interconnection network has a underlying topology, which usually presented by a graph G = ( V , E ) . In 2012, a measurement for fault tolerance of the graph was proposed by Peng et al. This measurement is called the g-good-neighbor diagnosability that restrains every fault-free node to contain at least g fault-free neighbors. Under the PMC model, to diagnose the system, two adjacent nodes in G are can perform tests on each other. Under the MM model, to diagnose the system, a node sends the same task to two of its neighbors, and then compares their responses. The MM* is a special case of the MM model and each node must test its any pair of adjacent nodes of the system. As a famous topology structure, the ( n , k ) -arrangement graph A n , k , has many good properties. In this paper, we give the g-good-neighbor diagnosability of A n , k under the PMC model and MM* model.

Aims. To investigate the anticolorectal cancer (CRC) effects of Bufalin, a bioactive polyhydroxysteroid from Venenum Bufonis, using HCT116 human CRC cell and an established orthotopic xenograft model in mice, and to explore the mechanisms of action. Material and Methods. Cultured HCT116 cells or BALB/c mice with orthotopic tumor were treated by Bufalin (positive control: 5-FU). Cell proliferation, apoptosis, and cycling were determined by MTT, Annexin V/PI staining, and flow cytometry, respectively. In mice, tumor inhibition rate and animal survival were calculated. The expressions of PTEN/phosphate-PTEN, AKT/phosphate-AKT, Bad, Bcl-xl, Bax, or Caspase-3 in cells and/or tumors were determined by Western blot or immunohistochemical staining. Results. Bufalin significantly inhibited cell proliferation and induced cell apoptosis and cycle arrest in a dose/time-dependent manner. In the animal model, Bufalin treatment resulted in significant inhibition of tumor growth and prolonged survival. In the Bufalin-treated cultured cells and/or xenograft tumors, the expressions of PTEN, Bad, Bax, and Caspase-3 were significantly increased, while p-AKT and Bcl-xL significantly decreased. Conclusions. Our results indicate that Bufalin inhibit cell proliferation and orthotopic tumor growth by inducing cell apoptosis through the intrinsic apoptotic pathway, which is of pivotal significance in the identification of an anticancer drug that may synergize with Bufalin.

Fluorescence spectroscopy and ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy techniques coupled with cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to study the interaction between salmon sperm DNA and 1,10-Phenanthroline cobalt(II) complex, [Co(phen)2(Cl)(H2O)]Cl·H2O, where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline. The interaction between [Co(phen)2(Cl)(H2O)]+ and double-strand DNA (dsDNA) was identified to be intercalative mode. An electrochemical DNA biosensor was developed by covalent immobilization of probe single-strand DNA (ssDNA) related to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) on the activated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). With [Co(phen)2(Cl)(H2O)]+ being the novel electrochemical hybridization indicator, the selectivity of ssDNA-modified electrode was investigated and selective detection of complementary ssDNA was achieved using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV).

The crystal and molecular structures of [Ni(Im)6](dtp)2 (Im = imidazole, dtp = O,O′-diphenyldithiophosphate) have been determined by X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group Pī, with cell parameters a = 9.375 (2), b = 12.324(3), c = 13.285(3) Å, α = 107.86(3), β = 102.28(3), γ = 109.24(3), and Z = 1. The crystal structure of the title compound is built up of discrete monomeric molecules of [Ni(Im)6](dtp)2. The nickel (II) ion is hexacoordinated by six imidazole molecules and the coordination environment of Ni (II) is of octahedral geometry. In the solid state, a network of N-H···S intermolecular hydrogen bonds connect the Ni(Im)6 moieties and O,O′-diphenyldithiophosphate molecules, forming a three-dimensional structure.
