19. Histological comparison of different compressive forces on particulate grafts during alveolar ridge preservation: a prospective proof-of-concept study

Abstract

Purpose The aim of this study was to determine the impact of different compressive forces on deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) particles covered by native bilayer collagen membrane (NBCM) during alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) in the molar area, and to identify any histomorphometric and clinical differences according to the compressive force applied. Methods Sockets were filled with DBBM after tooth extraction, and different compressive forces (30 N and 5 N, respectively) were applied to the graft material in the test (30 N) and control (5 N) groups. The DBBM in both groups was covered with NBCM in a double-layered fashion. A crossed horizontal mattress suture (hidden X) was then made. A core biopsy was performed using a trephine bur without flap elevation at the implant placement site for histomorphometric evaluations after 4 months. The change of the marginal bone level was measured using radiography. Results Twelve patients completed the study. The histomorphometric analysis demonstrated that the mean ratios of the areas of new bone, residual graft material, and soft tissue and the implant stability quotient did not differ significantly between the groups (P>0.05). However, the mean size of the residual graft material showed a significant intergroup difference (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of 2 compressive forces (5 N, 30 N) on particulate DBBM grafts during open-healing ARP in the posterior area led to comparable new bone formation, implant feasibility and peri-implant bone level.

Abstract

현대사회는 논리적, 이성적 사고능력이 중시되는 정보화시대를 지나 점차 감성적 감각능력이 중시되는 새로운 시대로 전환되는 시점이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 감성 중심의 사회에서도 이성의 중요성이 여전히 유효하며, 이성과 감성 간의 조화롭고 균형 잡힌 발달을 이루는 것이 중요할 것이다. 따라서 이 논고에서는 동아시아의 전통철학인 양명학, 좁게는 양명학 좌파의 사상에 관하여 이를 감성철학으로 인식하고, 중국 명대 말기에 활약한 양명학 좌파의 인물 이탁오(1527~1602)의 사상에 관하여 감성이라는 코드로 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 그리고 이러한 논의과정을 통해 이탁오의 사상도 포함하여 16, 17세기 무렵의 신유학 사상의 전개 양상이 완전히 새로운 사상사적 전환 국면에 직면해 있었다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 그것은 명대 말기 양명학 좌파로 대변되는 일련의 감성 중심 사상운동으로서 그 주요한 특징이 주자학의 이성주의적 사고에 대한 비판과 반성 및 해체의 과정이 진행되었다는 점, 더불어 새롭게 양명학에 바탕을 둔 욕망 긍정의 감성주의적 사고로 전환되었다는 점이다. 이성적 사고로 제어할 수 없는 인간 본연의 자연적 욕망과 감성이 정주학 탄생 500여 년만에 본격적으로 꿈틀대기 시작한 것이다. 이 논고에서의 주요 논의 대상인 이탁오는 정주학적 이성이 지배하던 사회에서 양명학 좌파의 인물들과 마찬가지로 인간의 욕망과 감성에 대한 새로운 자각을 하게 되고, 부정적으로 유학사에서 낙인찍힌 욕망의 잔재들을 끄집어낸다. 그 가운데 욕망하는 주체로서 개체 혹은 사사로움(私)의 발견을 시작으로 감성적 인욕에 대한 적극적 긍정을 강조한다. 또한 개체의 자각을 일으키는 원동력으로서 어린아이의 마음, 즉 순수한 동심(童心)을 자기철학의 전면에 내세웠던 것이다.

50. Effects of maternal nonylphenol exposure on the proliferation of glial cells in the brain of male offspring mice.

Abstract

Glial cells play a significant role in maintaining brain homeostasis and normal brain development, and their functions can be impaired by exposure to endocrine disruptors. 4-n-Nonylphenol (NP), a representative endocrine disruptor, is widely used in personal care products and industrial materials. NP accumulates in various organs, including the brain, of living organisms and adversely influences brain health. However, studies on the effects of NP on glial cells are limited. This study aims to investigate the effects of NP on glial cells using primary mixed glial cells and offspring mice exposed to NP during gestation and lactation. In vitro experiments revealed that NP exposure stimulated the astrocytes and microglia proliferation but not oligodendrocytes. NP exposure activated microglia and reduced myelin protein expression in oligodendrocytes. Moreover, maternal NP exposure increased the numbers of microglia and oligodendrocytes in the cerebral cortex of adult offspring. NP exposure caused anxiety- and depressive-like behaviors in adult mice.
