To address the problem of decoupling arising from weak binding of extrinsic agents to biomass, we propose a hot-pressing method by which heterogeneous solids become firmly integrated in confined spaces at elevated temperatures and pressures.

The preferred configuration for bridging patients with respiratory failure while awaiting lung transplantation is venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO). However, the protective effect of VV ECMO on the lung, as well as the underlying mechanisms, are still unknown.We investigated the role of VV ECMO in preventing lung injury in vivo using a rat model. Additionally, the effects of Hippo/YAP signaling on alveolar epithelial type II cells (AT2)-mediated alveolar epithelial recovery in VV ECMO rats were also investigated. In the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissue, RNA sequencing, lung injury, edema, and cytokine expression were evaluated.VV ECMO significantly improved severe hypoxemia, reduced lung edema, and inflammatory response, and altered alveolar epithelial function, as indicated by reduced protein concentrations in BALF. This was associated with Hippo/YAP signaling activation, according to RNA sequencing analysis. Furthermore, we discovered that after VV ECMO, AT2 cells proliferated and differentiated, and this increase in AT2 cell activity was correlated to the increased nuclear expression of YAP, which is critical for alveolar epithelial recovery from lung injury. During VV ECMO, verteporfin-induced YAP inhibition and the loss of the oxygenator delayed lung alveolar epithelial recovery and led to a prolonged inflammatory response.These findings suggest that VV ECMO protects against lung injury by activating the Hippo/YAP signaling pathway. Strategies aimed at increasing YAP activity in AT2 cells could thus aid alveolar epithelial recovery, making VV ECMO easier for lung transplantation.

Background Whether blunt trauma patient will get venous thromboembolism (VTE) is still a huge challenge to forecast. The objective of our study is to investigate and identify the potential biomarker genes for blunt trauma patients with VTE based on the method of bioinformatics analysis. Methods To investigate differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of blunt trauma and VTE, firstly we used the data obtained from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database, and DEGs were respectively obtained via LIMMA. Next Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to investigate the co-expression network of blunt trauma DEGs and two modules were found. We chose the most significant module as the key one in correlation with blunt trauma. We got intersection of DEGs in blunt trauma and VTE, which were analyzed using Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways. Then we used STRING to create a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, and hub genes were screened by Cytoscape software and analyzed of functional enrichment. We chose another GEO database to evaluate the value of hub genes, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were done at last. Results There are a total of 546 DEGs of VTE and 4266 DEGs of blunt trauma were screened out from GSE19151 and GSE36809 respectively. Then 1568 DEGs of blunt trauma were identified in the most significant module. And 101 intersections of DEGs were found to be enriched for various functions and pathways. Among these DEGs, 6 overlapped hub genes with high degrees of stress method were selected. These hub genes include MRPL3, RPLP0, MRPL15, TP53, MYC, CD3D.And the six hub genes were tested to have high diagnostic values.

BACKGROUND Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has been increasingly used in all levels of risk patients, which is less invasive and has fewer complications. However, the benefits of transcatheter and surgical methods of aortic valve replacement remain controversial for aortic stenosis (AS) patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (stage 3-5). METHODS We comprehensively searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) from January 2000 to October 2020 and performed a systematic review to evaluate the two techniques. Two investigators independently conducted the literature searches, study eligibility assessment, and data extraction in duplicate. RESULTS Compared to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), TAVR had lower risk of in-hospital mortality [odds ratio (OR): 0.53; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.36-0.78; P=0.001], lower stroke rate (OR: 0.68; 95% CI: 0.47-0.96; P=0.03), lower risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) (OR: 0.42; 95% CI: 0.34-0.52; P

The present study was to investigate the influence of analytical thinking on irrational behaviors evoked by COVID-19 (including excessive epidemic prevention and hoarding behavior) and the mediating role of misinformation beliefs related to COVID-19 (including social and pseudoscientific beliefs) in a public health crisis. 1968 Chinese participants completed the Analytical Thinking Test, Misinformation Beliefs Questionnaire and Irrational Behavior Questionnaire online. The results showed that (1) Analytical thinking had a negative prediction on both excessive epidemic prevention and hoarding behavior; (2) misinformation beliefs, even social misinformation beliefs, partly mediated the relationship between the analytical thinking and irrational behaviors. These findings provide some useful references for effectively reducing people's irrational behaviors during a public health crisis.

In the determination of metal thickness by traditional electromagnetic nondestructive testing methods, the material’s electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability are required but practically unavailable or inexact. In this paper, a wall-thinning measuring method based on magnetic permeability variation of steel pipes is proposed. The direct current magnetization is applied to the ferromagnetic material, the internal magnetic field perturbation caused by the wall-thinning brings the permeability perturbation in the surface layer and be sensed by eddy current probe. The simulation results show that the permeability perturbation is closely related to wall thickness loss. The experiment results show that the signal amplitude increases with the thickness of the wall-thinning and the new method can measure the 10% wall-thinning of pipe. Finally, theoretical range of magnetization current values are discussed. The new method takes advantage of the changes in permeability and is not limited by thickness of object to be detected.

The axial stress of high strength bolts for bridges affects the service life directly, it is necessary to measure it regularly. Based on the theory of acoustic elasticity and combination of longitudinal and shear waves, a new theoretical analysis method is proposed. The stressed and non-stressed areas of bolt are separated, and the derived formula only use the flight time and difference of acoustoelastic coefficients to get axial stress. Further, the preload experiments with high strength bolts of grade 8.8S and 10.9S is designed, the experimental results show that the proposed method is applicable to the axial stress of the bridge bolts with any specifications, material and different screwing depth used in this paper, the effect of elastic deformation on the flight time is eliminated, and the measuring error is within 5%.

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a clinical syndrome resulting from intrapulmonary and/or extrapulmonary causes, is characterized by refractory hypoxemia. Currently, venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) is considered as a reasonable alternative to salvage ARDS, but it requires sedation of the patient. Several studies suggest that anesthetics, such as sevoflurane and propofol, have lung protective and immunomodulatory functions. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of sevoflurane and propofol on ARDS in VV ECMO rat models.Methods: To establish the ARDS model, male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were injected with 100mg/kg oleic acid (OA). Twenty-four SD rats were randomly divided into two groups: sevoflurane group (Sevo group) and propofol group (Pro group). The basic vital signs of rats in each group were continuously monitored using a life monitor, and arterial blood gas tests were performed at the following three time points: T0 (baseline), T1 (the time to ARDS), and T2 (after weaning from ECMO for 1 h). Bicinchoninic acid assay (BCA) method was used to determine protein concentration in bronchial alveolar lavage fluid (BALF), whereas hemotaxylin and eosin (HE) staining was used to evaluate the lung pathological scores in each group. In addition, inflammatory factors (IL-1b, TNF-a, and MPO) in BALF, serum, and lung were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).Results: With regard to the blood gas index, the Sevo group exhibited a better effect in improving the oxygenation function than the Pro group (PP>0.05). After VV ECMO assistance, the degree of lung injury and inflammatory changes in the Sevo group were significantly reduced compared to the Pro group.Conclusion: This study shows that sedation with sevoflurane during VV ECMO assisted ARDS in rats improved lung injury and inflammation, and was better than propofol in improving the oxygenation function.

Background: Venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) has been widely used for patients with refractory cardiogenic shock (CS). A common side-effect of this technic is the resultant increase in left ventricular (LV) afterload which could potentially aggravate myocardial ischemia, delay ventricular recovery, and increase the risk of pulmonary congestion. Several LV unloading strategies have been proposed and implemented to mitigate these complications. However, it is still indistinct that which one is the best choice for clinical application. The objective of this Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) is to summarize the evidence and compare the efficacy of different LV unloading strategies during VA-ECMO.Methods: We will perform a systematic search to identify random controlled trials and cohort studies comparing different LV unloading strategies during VA-ECMO. PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) will be explored from their inception to 31 December 2020. The primary outcome will be in-hospital mortality. The secondary outcomes will include neurological complications, hemolysis, bleeding, limb ischemia, renal failure, gastrointestinal complications, sepsis, duration of mechanical ventilation, length of intensive care unit, and hospital stays. Pairwise and network meta-analysis will respectively be conducted using Stata (V.16, StataCorp) and Aggregate Data Drug Information System (ADDIS V.1.16.5), and the cumulative probability will be used to rank the included LV unloading strategies. The risk of bias will be conducted using the Cochrane Collaboration’s tool or Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale (NOS) according to their study design. Subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, and publication bias assessment will be performed. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) will be conducted to explore the quality of evidence.Discussion: This Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) will address the problem that which strategy could achieve left ventricular (LV) unloading most effectively during venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and increase cardiogenic shock patient survival benefit, and will provide evidence for clinical decision-making.Systematic review registration: PROSPERO registry number: CRD42020165093.

Introduction Although venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) is a reasonable salvage treatment for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), it requires sedating the patient. Sevoflurane and propofol have pulmonary protective and immunomodulatory properties. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of sevoflurane and propofol on rats with induced ARDS undergoing VV ECMO. Methods Fifteen sprague-dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups: Con group, sevoflurane (Sevo) group and propofol (Pro) group. Arterial blood gas tests were performed at time pointsT0 (baseline), T1 (the time to ARDS), and T2 (weaning from ECMO). Oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2) was calculated, and lung edema assessed by determining the lung wet:dry ratio. The protein concentration in bronchial alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was determined by using bicinchoninic acid assay. Haematoxylin and eosin staining was used to evaluate the lung pathological scores in each group. IL-1β and TNF-α were also measured in the BALF, serum and lung. Results Oxygenation index showed improvement in the Sevo group versus Pro group. The wet:dry ratio was reduced in the Sevo group compared with propofol-treated rats. Lung pathological scores were substantially lower in the Sevo group versus the Pro group. Protein concentrations in the BALF and levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in the Sevo group were substantially lower versus Pro group. Conclusion This study demonstrates that compared with propofol, sevoflurane was more efficacious in improving oxygenation and decreasing inflammatory response in rat models with ARDS subject to VV ECMO treatment.

Objective: Although the application of del Nido cardioplegia solution (DNC) in adult cardiac surgery is accumulating, the feasibility and safety of this myocardial protection strategy in adults remains controversial. We aimed to update our previous meta-analysis to determine the myocardial protective effect of DNC versus conventional cardioplegia (CC) in adult cardiac surgery. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform databases through November 2020. Results: Thirty-seven observational studies and four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including 21,779 patients were identified. The DNC group was associated with decreased postoperative cardiac enzymes [troponin T (cTnT) and creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB)] [standardized mean differences (SMD): −0.59, 95% confidence interval (CI): −0.99 to −0.19, p = 0.004], cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time (MD: −9.31, 95% CI: −13.10 to −5.51, p Conclusion: In adult cardiac surgery, compared to CC, myocardial protection used with DNC yield similar or better short-term clinical outcomes. More high-quality trials and RCTs reflecting long-term follow-up morbidity and mortality are required in the future to confirm these findings.

Clean energy conversion/storage techniques have become increasingly significant because of the increasing energy consumption. Regarding practical applications like zinc-air batteries and supercapacitors, electrode materials are essential and often require both porous networks and active species to enhance their electrochemical performance. Nitrogen-doped porous carbon (NPC) is a kind of promising material, which provides efficient active sites and large surface areas for energy conversion/storage applications. However, rational modulation of properties for maximizing NPC performance is still a challenge. Herein, a promising NPC material derived from natural biomass is successfully synthesized by following a stepwise preparation method. Physisorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses demonstrate both pore structures and nitrogen species of the NPC have been delicately tuned. The optimized sample NPC-800-m exhibits excellent performance in both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and three-electrode supercapacitor measurement. Moreover, the homemade zinc-air battery and symmetric supercapacitor assembled with NPC-800-m also display outstanding energy and power density as well as durable stability. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further confirm the synergistic effects among graphitic, pyridinic and pyrrolic nitrogen. The existence of multispecies of nitrogen combined with the optimized pore structure is the key to the high electrochemical performance for NPC-800-m. This work not only provides feasible and green synthetic methodology but also offers original insights into the effective pores and the synergistic effects of different nitrogen species in the NPC materials.

The consensus control of multiple AUVs recovery system is the key to complete the multi-AUV recovery mission. This paper proposes consensus control of multiple AUVs recovery system under switching communication topologies and time delays including input delay and communication delay. Consensus control algorithm for a multi-AUV recovery system is assumed to guarantee all the members to reach a common motion state and desired point. The mothership is regarded as the point which all AUVs have to catch up with, the recovery problem of multiple AUVs can be seen as the consensus problem of multi-agents system. A randomly changing consensus stability criteria and stabilization conditions are derived by a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional for the Markovian switching recovery system with time delays, and then a consensus controller design method is derived. Finally, the correctness of the proposed method is proved by simulation experiments.

Objective Although the application of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is accumulating, the feasibility and safety of this therapy remain controversial. We aimed to evaluate the effect of VV-ECMO in the treatment of these patients. Methods A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform databases through November 2021. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the included studies were screened, and meta-analysis was performed by R software (version 4.0.2). Results Forty-two studies including 2037 COVID-19 patients supported with VV-ECMO due to ARDS were identified. The pooled analysis revealed that 30-, 60-, and 90-day mortality among patients were respectively 46% (95% CI 37%–57%, I2 = 66%), 46% (95% CI 30%–70%, I2 = 93%), and 49% (95% CI 43%–58%, I2 = 52%), and the pooled incidence rate of in-hospital mortality, major bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke, thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, deep venous thrombosis, and renal replacement therapy were respectively 35%, 39%, 11%, 40%, 15%, 21%, and 44%. Conclusion Although COVID-19 patients may have a higher risk of bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke, and acute kidney injury during ECMO therapy, the survival rate was more than half of the cases. Our data may support the application of VV-ECMO in COVID-19 patients.

In pursuit of finding alternatives to Pt for O2 reduction reaction (ORR), biomass-based catalysts are promising candidates because of their low prices and comprehensive sources that just compensate for the drawbacks of Pt. However, it is difficult to determine unambiguously structure-function correlations of biomass-based catalysts due to their complex structures. Moreover, biomass-based metal-free ORR electrocatalysts often suffer from poor mass transport and pH applicability. Hence, tuning structural variables specifically, improving mass transport within porous domains, and achieving pH-universal catalytic activities are key to optimization of metal-free ORR electrocatalysts derived from biomass. In this study the ‘basic bathing’ method is proposed for precise control over structural variables of nitrogen-doped metal-free ORR electrocatalysts that originate from staple waste biomass—wheat straw. The basic bathing makes use of the fact that KOH can result in a series of physicochemical changes within lignocellulosic biomass and thereby re-proportion pore width distributions of synthesized materials. Under the action of basic bathing, the optimal electrocatalyst having the largest mesopore volume and the equal distribution of nitrogen species is superior in terms of pH-universal ORR electrocatalytic activity when compared to its non-basic-bathing counterparts. The structure-function analyses, benefiting from the specific tuning of mesopores by the basic bathing, demonstrate the linear relations between mesopore volumes and limiting current densities irrespective of pH. Furthermore, the density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate the synergistic effects of pyridinic, pyrrolic and graphitic nitrogens at a 1:1:1 atomic ratio contribute to the decreased overpotential requirement. Taken together, the reproducible results provide compelling evidence for the importance of mesopores and nitrogen species distributions in enhancing the pH-universal ORR performance. In a broader context, the basic bathing is truly inspirational for niche exploitation of biomass for future energy technologies.

The main purpose of this study was to develop a method for a robust H-infinity control of an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) based on the interpolation of the Riccati equation solution. This method combined the robust H-infinity control theory and results of the interpolation of the Riccati equation solution. The UUV's velocity, heading, and depth controllers were derived and obtained. A simulation and experiment in a lake were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the developed controllers. Results indicated that the controllers were feasible, effective, and robust in managing the control of a UUV.

Carbon encapsulating metal composites have been widely employed in electrocatalytic reduction of CO2. Though these catalysts possess relatively high selectivity towards CO, their current densities are usually low, which hardly satisfy industrial requirements. Achieving industrial current densities requires robust catalyst supports alongside efficient electron/substrate interaction at catalytically active sites. Herein, we select anthracite coal with a naturally robust architecture as the catalyst support, whose internal dense framework favours electron transport. The controllable activation method is used to form numerous micropores at the surface of coal particles without destroying the internal structures. The spatial confinement growth effect of micropores within the coal matrix contributes to the fixation of nickel-nitrogen (Ni-N) active sites within the micropores to prevent excessive agglomeration of metallic atoms, therefore enhancing the catalyst utilization. Furthermore, confinement space provided by plentiful micropores favours the adsorption of CO2, ensuring the instantaneous supply of a sufficient concentration of the substrate molecules to adjacent active sites firmly anchored in the micropores. Accordingly, the robust coal matrix can not only promote electrons from the inside to surface catalytic centres but also capture CO2 from the outside to active sites, thus intensifying the electron/substrate interaction of Ni-N active sites. In a flow cell, the coal-matrix electrocatalyst co-doped with nickel and nitrogen exhibits an industry-level current density of 223 mA cm–2, a high faradaic efficiency of 97% for CO production and a long-term stability of continuously working for as long as 120 h. Consequently, this work advances the understanding of catalyst supports in intensifying the electron/substrate interaction of active sites and hence provides new insight into the optimization of electrocatalytic performance of earth-abundant transition metals through the incorporation into the robust coal matrix.

Fuel cell performance depends heavily on electrochemical reaction kinetics and mass transport. Rapid kinetics requires high-activity catalysts while good mass transport demands efficient transport domains. Recent fundamental studies in these areas focus more on the improvement in catalyst activity, whereas the importance of mass transport should not be underestimated, which is the focal point of this work. Hierarchical pores are generally considered to be conducive to enhancing reaction kinetics and mass transport, but the degree of order of pore structures has a significant influence over the fuel cell performance. Herein, we introduce the concept of ‘long-range order, short-range disorder’ to design transport domains and reaction interfaces: dispensing with conventional microfabrication techniques, well-ordered, one-dimensional channel arrays are constructed using vascular bundles of natural material, capable of decreasing tortuosity, increasing porosity, optimizing reactant distribution and thus minimizing concentration losses; further, intrinsic biominerals and tissues of organisms existing on the inner and outer walls of channel arrays are harnessed to form hierarchically porous domains, that is, raising the roughness of reaction interfaces by increasing the degree of short-range disorder. The combination of one-dimensional flow channels (long-range order) and hierarchically porous reaction interfaces (short-range disorder), analogous to blood vessels composed of arteries/veins and capillaries, ensures the optimization of mass transport and catalytic kinetics, leading to an electrocatalytic oxygen reduction performance enhancement over a wide array of biomass-derived carbonaceous materials. Accordingly, this work provides inspiration for finding the right balance between mass transport and reaction kinetics from an order perspective.

Exploiting the natural structures of plants to prepare high-performance carbon-based electrocatalysts is highly desirable. Herein, the inherently hierarchical microstructures of Euphorbia tirucalli (E. tirucalli) are employed to construct three-dimensional nanoporous nitrogen-doped carbons that act as efficient and durable electrocatalysts towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). During the preparation process, agar is used in order to reduce the dissipation of nitrogen and to protect the fine structures of E. tirucalli. The as-prepared ORR catalyst, with a high density of pyridinic and graphitic nitrogens, presents a high catalytic activity (onset potential of 0.97 V vs. RHE, half-wave potential of 0.82 V vs. RHE, limiting current density of 5.64 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 59 mV dec−1), four-electron pathway, low peroxide yield, long-term stability (current retention of 95.3% after 50 000 s) and strong methanol tolerance in 0.1 M KOH, all superior to the benchmark 20% Pt/C commercial catalyst. This work demonstrates an effective method for the utilization of inherently hierarchical microstructures of plant biomass to make efficient and durable carbon-based metal-free ORR electrocatalysts.

Ultrasound irradiation is a technique that can induce acoustic cavitation in liquids, leading to a highly interactive mixture of reactants. In pursuit of high-performance and cost-effective supercapacitor electrodes, pore size distributions of carbonaceous materials should be carefully designed. Herein, fruit skins (mango, pitaya and watermelon) are employed as carbon precursors to prepare nanoporous carbons by the ultrasound-assisted method. Large BET specific surface areas of the as-prepared carbons (2700–3000 m2 g−1) are reproducible with pore diameters being concentrated at about 0.8 nm. Among a suite of the bio-derived nanoporous carbons, one reaches a maximum specific capacitance of up to 493 F g−1 (at 0.5 A g−1 in 6 M KOH) in the three-electrode system and achieves high energy densities of 27.5 W h kg−1 (at 180 W kg−1 in 1 M Na2SO4) and 10.9 W h kg−1 (at 100 W kg−1 in 6 M KOH) in the two-electrode system. After 5000 continuous charge/discharge cycles, the capacitances maintain 108% in 1 M Na2SO4 and 98% in 6 M KOH, exhibiting long working stability. Moreover, such high capacitive performance can be attributed to the optimization of surface areas and pore volumes of the effective micropores (referred to as 0.7–2 nm sized pores). The coordinated control has been widely used to realize multiple UUVs (Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) track the expected trajectory in formation. As the forces and moments are bounded in real actuators, the input can’t be infinite. In order to address the problem, a coordinated control law considering control input saturation is proposed in this paper. The multiple-input multiple-output system of UUV motion is simplified as second-order integral equations by using linearization method. Then, the control object of multiple UUVs is represented. All positon state and velocity state of each UUV are unanimous asymptotically with designed coordinated controller of multi-UUV with input saturation. Furthermore, the stability is proven based on Lyapunov theory and LaSalle’s Invariance principle. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control law is verified by simulation, all UUVs can track the expected path in fixed distances.

A series of thioether cross-linked membranes based on sulfonated poly(arylene ether ketone)s containing propenyl groups were prepared to solve the problem of high methanol permeability for proton electrolyte membrane in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). For this purpose, 4,4′-thiobisbenzenethiol was selected as cross-linker, and the cross-linked structure was formed via thiol-ene click chemical reaction between propenyl and thiol groups. Compared with pristine membrane, the thioether cross-linked membranes exhibited improved mechanical properties and dimensional stabilities. As the cross-linker increased, the swelling ratio decreased from 11.01% to 8.64% at 20°C and from 15.18% to 10.69% at 80°C. Furthermore, the modified membranes exhibited reduced methanol permeability coefficients (down to 4.03 × 10−7 cm2 s−1), which was nearly half of the pristine membrane (7.66 × 10−7 cm2 s−1). Due to the thioether units, the cross-linked membranes showed enhanced oxidative stabilities, and the longest elapsed time in Fenton’s reagent was 225 min, which was 2.5 times longer than that of pristine polymeric membrane. Although the proton conductivity decreased upon the addition of cross-linker agent, the selectivity value increased due to the lower methanol permeability. Thus, all the results implied that the thioether cross-linked membranes were promising alternative materials for DMFCs application.
