Serum CA 125 levels in patients with endometriosis were elevated (35 U/ml or higher) in 88.9% (32/36). CA 125 levels correlated well with the response to Danazol treatment. Using this marker, myoma uteri and adenomyosis can be differentiated pre-operatively and the follow up with Danazol treatment in patients with endometriosis can be monitored.

The antenatal ultrasonic and postnatal caliper measurements for biparietal diameters were carried out in 44 spontaneous vaginal deliveries (24 primiparas and 20 multiparas) and 12 deliveries by caesarean sections, in an attempt to assess the accuracy of ultrasonic cephalometry and recovery of the fetal moulding. Biparietal diameter determined ultrasonic measurement within 24 hours before labor was smaller than that of neonates by the caliper measurement within one hour after labor, by an average of 1.83mm in cases of caesarean sections, and each biparietal diameter in primiparas, multiparas, and caesarean sections showed a different transition.

Statistical data of obesity in infertile women and the correlation between obesity including emaciation and ovulatory disorder were studied. We found an increased tendency toward obesity in those with ovulatory disorders, as compared to subjects with normal ovulatory cycles. The relationship between obesity and ovulatory cycles or infertility was thus apparent.

The adrenergic and dopaminergic systems and 5-hydroxytryptamine levels were studied in four groups of pregnant : group I of 25 first trimester normotensives, group II of 15 second trimester normotensives, group III of 15 third trimester normotensives, Group IV of 15 with pregnancy-induced hypertension. Blood samples were taken from the fasting ambulatory women. Plasma norepinephrine (NE) levels were 196±66pg/ml, 202±49pg/ml, 188±49pg/ml, 214±75pg/ml, respectively. There was no significance among each group. Plasma 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) levels were significantly higher in pregnancy-induced hypertension than in the other groups. (648±196pg/ml vs. 483±102,497±92 and 501±139pg/ml). Plasma 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) levels were significantly higher in case of pregnancy-induced hypertension than in the other groups. (122±22ng/ml vs. 93±26,99±18 and 94±22ng/ml). These data may suggest that the serotonergic and/or dopaminergic systems may play important roles in pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Serum CA 125 (an antigen common to most nonmucinous epithelial ovarian carcinoma) were measured in patients with gynecologic disease. CA 125 levels were elevated (34U/ml or higher) in 77.8% (7/9) of ovarian cancer patients. As the CA 125 levels correlated well with the clinical course, we conclude that the measurement of serum CA 125 is useful for the diagnosis and follow up of patients with ovarian cancer.
