A novel isohedral 3-periodic net (i.e. a net with one kind of tile), showing a Cairo pentagonal tiling projection on the Euclidean plane, has been identified in a series of site-modified CuCN/CuSCN networks, namely, [Cu6 (SCN)2 (CN)6 ⋅Ni(tpy)2 ]n (1), [Cu6 (SCN)(CN)7 ⋅Ni(tpy)2 ]n (2) and [Cu6 (CN)8 ⋅Ni(tpy)2 ]n (3) (tpy=2,2':6'',2''-terpyridine). These infinite inclusion compounds were prepared via a solvothermal sulfur migration reaction with subtle modification to fine-tune the sulfur content. The chiroptical activity of single crystals, which arises from the intrinsically chiral net, was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and solid-state circular dichroism spectra.

This study utilizes tungsten oxide as the research subject and investigates changes between different argon/oxygen gas flow ratio and deposits on ITO substrates through RF reactively sputtering. Propylene carbonate (PC) is further mixed with LiClO4 for the preparation of electrolyte. After packaged into components, electric voltage is applied to the films to generate reduction or oxidization, which can obtain different colored/bleached states. Lastly, Raman spectroscopy analysis is performed to get a greater understanding of electrochromic mechanisms. The results of the experiment discovered that as-deposited tungsten oxide thin film shows the formation of W+6 states, and the application of driving voltage causes the formation of W+5 states. At the same time, the thin film coloring effect appears. Increases in driving voltage cause the gradual conversion of W+ 6 states into W+5 states, which further leads to a more significant coloring effect. On the other hand, W-O-W deformed crystal lattice structures are also produced, which also affects the incidence of electrochromic property.

Background Malnutrition, especially protein-calorie malnutrition, is common in patients with liver cirrhosis. When in the status of malnutrition, the complications increase, liver function deteriorates, and the prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis worsens. Hence, nutritional support and treatment is essential in patients with liver cirrhosis. Previous studies suggested that compound nutrition based on pollen can improve liver function, and can be a basic nutrient for patients with liver cirrhosis. However, the nutritional support based on pollen for malnutrition of cirrhotic patients needs to be further evaluated. In this study, we investigated the nutritional support of Noveliver, a new compound pollen protein nutrient, in the cirrhotic rats induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Methods The cirrhotic rats induced by CCl4 were treated with Noveliver in different doses, and treated with a regular compound pollen nutrient, untreated cirrhotic rats and normal rats were used as controls. Serum albumin were measured before and after the nutritional treatment in each group. At the same time, liver function, cytokines and pathological changes were also determined. Results In the second week of nutritional treatment, the levels of serum albumin in normal control group, low dose noveliver group, high dose noveliver group, compound protein pollen group and spontaneous recovery group were 35.67 ± 1.42, 33.07 ± 1.27, 32.27 ± 1.50, 30.53 ± 0.25, 24.53 ± 3.56 (g/L), respectively, the differences among the groups were significant (F = 14.007, P = 0.000); The levels of serum albumin in low dose Noveliver group, high dose Noveliver group and the compound protein pollen group were higher than that in the spontaneous recovery group (P = 0.000, 0.001, 0.003, respectively). In the second week of nutritional treatment, the serum levels of HGF in normal control group, low dose Noveliver group, high dose Noveliver group, compound protein pollen group and spontaneous recovery group were 101.55 ± 0.87, 94.62 ± 8.80, 98.94 ± 3.68, 78.77 ± 21.79, 39.52 ± 14.03 (pg/ml), respectively, the differences among the groups were significant (F = 11.12, P = 0.002); the levels of HGF in low dose Noveliver group, high dose Noveliver group and the compound protein pollen group were higher than that in spontaneous recovery group (P = 0.001, 0.000, 0.005). Histological results showed that the fibrosis in spontaneous recovery group was severer than those in low dose Noveliver group, high dose Noveliver group and compound protein pollen group. Conclusions Our data show that the both the Noveliver and the compound pollen protein nutrient increase the serum albumin and ameliorate malnutrition in cirrhotic rats; the recovery of serum albumin might be related to the hepatic damage repair and liver regeneration.

The effects of various fineness moduli (FM) of fine aggregate on the engineering properties of high‐performance concrete (HPC) were studied. Two kinds of coarse aggregates (stiff and soft) and three kinds of fine aggregates (FM=3.24, 2.73 and 2.18) were used. The results indicate that the slump and flowability for all fresh concrete in this study right after mixing are between 265 and 280 mm, and 670 and 790 mm , respectively. The compressive strengths at the age of 28 days range from 60.2 to 68.7 MPa (stiff coarse aggregate), and 42.0 to 46.0 MPa (soft coarse aggregate), respectively. The corresponding moduli of elasticity are in the range between 27.5 and 29.1 GPa (stiff aggregate), and 23.4 and 25.2 GPa (soft aggregate), respectively. Using the same concrete mixture, the coarsest fine aggregate (FM=3.24) has better positive effects on the properties of the fresh and hardened HPC.

A neutral 2-D (CuSCN)∞ containing both regular and irregular [Cu3(SCN)3] six-membered rings supported by an asymmetrical tridentate ligand 3,5-bis(3-pyridyl)-1H-pyrazole (Hbppz) were prepared with the formula [Cu3(SCN)3(Hbppz)]∞. The compound gives strong green luminescence with an emission maximum at 536 nm.

The solvothermal reaction of CuSCN and 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe) in mixed solvents acetonitrile/n-hexane/(methanol or ethanol) gave a honeycomb-like guanidinium cyanocuprate [C(NH2)3)]·[Cu2(CN)3]. The in situ formed cations C(NH2)3+ act as templates to direct the formation of the CuCN network in which multiple weak N−H····N/C hydrogen interactions potentially exist between the cations C(NH2)3+ and the {CuCN}6 rings.

Reactions of AgX with 2,4,6-tri(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-trazine (tpt) yielded three 3D highly symmetric isostructural coordination polymers (X = ClO4-, BF4-, and PF6-) and a dimer (X = CF3COO-), respectively. In the coordination polymers, anion−π interactions are found between the multiatomic anions and tpt ligands. Systematic variation including synthetic methods, ratios of reactants, and solvents provides synthetic evidence proving that anion−π interactions play a decisive role in assembly of the coordination polymers.

Data replication is an important technique in distributed systems. Most replication techniques are quorum-based. These approaches employ logical structures or mathematical methods to solve the consistent problem of data replication. They have some improvements in getting smaller quorum size, higher availability, and better load balancing. However, most of them may have the following disadvantages: (1) the load distribution is unbalanced, and (2) these methods do not apply to any arbitrary number of sites. This paper presents a new approach called electoral voting protocol, an approach that imitates the American presidential election. It is based on a circular numbering system. This protocol is symmetric in that every site in the system bears the same responsibility. In addition, it is applicable to any arbitrary number of sites.

This paper reports two structurally unique CuCN-terpyridine hybrid networks of 4′-p-tolyl-2, 2′ : 6′, 2″-terpyridine (ttpy) prepared under solvothermal condtions: [(CuCN)5(ttpy)]n (1), [(CuCN)3(ttpy)]n (2). Complex 1 features a tri-layer structure with 3-connected binodal (8210)·(8210) topology, while complex 2 features unusual honeycomb-like layer structures. The adjacent honeycomb-like layers consist of the opposite handed helical CuCN-ttpy chains. In both complexes, each ttpy coordinates two copper(I) atoms with short Cu–Cu distances, and the side pyridyl group rotates in a certain angle from the central pyridyl plane directing the formation of the diversified networks.

In the title compound, [Cu(3)(CN)(3)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)], two 2,2'-bipyridine N,N'-chelated Cu(I) atoms are linked by a cyanide bridge that lies about a center of inversion; the Cu(I) atom exists in a tetra-hedral coordination geometry. This dinuclear entity is linked to another Cu(I) atom that lies on a twofold rotation axis by another cyanide bridge, these bridges giving rise to the formation of a linear chain motif.

In the title complex, [CuCl2(C16H14N4S2)]n, the Cu atom lies on a center of inversion and is bridged by two adjacent pyrimidine N atoms and two chloride counter-ions to give a square-planar coordination geometry. The bidentate thio­ether ligands link adjacent Cu atoms into an infinite chain.
