This paper explores the application of structural tessellation in architectural and structural design, where surfaces or spaces are divided into smaller repeating shapes or units to create aesthetic and functional structures. Structural tessellation offers various advantages, including improved stability, increased load-bearing capacity, and enhanced aesthetic appeal. The growing use of digital tools and advanced numerical algorithms has facilitated the creation of complex and intricate tessellations that can be tailored to suit specific project requirements. This research focuses on algorithmic methods for generating tessellations and their utilization in structural engineering and design optimization. Diverse patterns and configurations of tessellation are investigated through mesh generation algorithms, parametric approaches, and pattern gradation and repetitions, with data visualization accomplished using computing scripts and Grasshopper. The tessellation elements are employed to discretize the design domain in structural optimization and create initial patterns. The paper demonstrates the feasibility of proposed frameworks for structural design and application through the examination of various numerical examples. In conclusion, the strategic use of structural tessellation proves to be effective in producing unique and functional structures that seamlessly combine visual appeal with material and resource efficiency.

In order to solve the reliability of the evaluation results of teaching quality in universities and colleges, an improved model of teaching evaluation based on the Support vector machine was put forward. In this model, the evaluator does not need to give an evaluation result of the teacher’s teaching quality, but gives the score of each evaluation index, and then calls the Support vector machine, automatic classification of teachers’ teaching quality. The experiment proves that the improved algorithm can improve the teaching quality evaluation accuracy and the result is better.

MicroRNAs play crucial roles in regulating inflammatory responses and disease progression. Since its identification on chromosome 17q11.2 in 2005, miR-451 has emerged as a key regulator of multiple physiological and pathological processes. While its role in cancer has been extensively documented, accumulating evidence reveals miR-451's broader significance in inflammatory conditions through the regulation of NF-κB, AMPK, and PI3K signaling pathways. This comprehensive review systematically analyzes miR-451's multifaceted functions in inflammatory diseases, with particular focus on ischemia-reperfusion injury, arthritis, and acute organ injuries. We present compelling evidence for miR-451's potential as a diagnostic biomarker, demonstrating its distinctive expression patterns across various biological specimens and disease states. Furthermore, we elucidate how miR-451 modulates inflammatory responses through the regulation of immune cell populations, including microglia activation, macrophage polarization, and neutrophil chemotaxis. By integrating current evidence and bioinformatic analyses, we establish a theoretical framework linking miR-451's molecular mechanisms to its therapeutic applications. This review not only synthesizes the current understanding of miR-451 in inflammatory diseases but also provides critical insights for developing novel diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies.

In 2005, Altuvia and colleagues were the first to identify the gene that encodes miR-451 in the human pituitary gland, located in chromosome region 17q11.2. Subsequent studies have confirmed that miR-451 regulates various immune cells, including T cells, B cells, microglia, macrophages, and neutrophils, thereby influencing disease progression. The range of immune-related diseases affected encompasses various cancers, lymphoblastic leukemia, and injuries to the lungs and spinal cord, among others. Moreover, miR-451 is produced by immune cells and can regulate both their own functions and those of other immune cells, thus creating a regulatory feedback loop. Helicostoa sinensis E. Lamy, 1926 is a unique freshwater gastropod species with a sessile habit. This enigmatic species was first found cemented on river limestones from China about 120 years ago and described together with the genus. It was never collected again and has been considered monotypic. Here, we report the rediscovery of Helicostoa from several rivers in China, and describe a second species of this genus based on a comprehensive study. In addition to the unique sessile habit of both species, the new Helicostoa species presents one of the most remarkable cases of sexual dimorphism within molluscs. Only the adult female is sessile and the original aperture of the female is sealed by shell matter or rock, while an opening on the body whorl takes the function of the original aperture. The male is vagile, with a normal aperture. Our results confirm the recently suggested placement of Helicostoa within the family Bithyniidae. The sessility of Helicostoa species is considered as an adaption to the limestone habitat in large rivers. The extreme sexual dimorphism and secondary aperture of females are considered as adaptations to overcome the obstacles for mating and feeding that come with a sessile life style.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory system. Maresin-2 (MaR2) is biosynthesized from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) by macrophages, display strong anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving activity. To investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of MaR2 on asthmatic mice induced by ovalbumin (OVA) in conjunction with the adjuvant aluminum hydroxide. Twenty four female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control, OVA, OVA + MaR2, and OVA + dexamethasone (Dexa) groups. MaR2 or Dexa were given as a treatment for OVA-induced asthma. Serum, bronchoalveolar alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissue were collected for further analysis. The Pathological changes of lung tissue, proportion of inflammatory cells in BALF, levels of inflammatory cytokines in BALF or serum, oxidative stress indices, and the protein concentration of ASC, MPO, Ly-6G, ICAM-1, NLRP3 and Caspase-1 in lung tissues were evaluated. Compared with the OVA group, both OVA + MaR2 and OVA + Dexa group had reduced inflammation and mucus secretion in lung tissue, number of inflammatory cells in BALF, levels of related inflammatory cytokines in serum or BALF, and expressions of ASC, MPO, Ly-6G, ICAM-1, NLRP3 and Caspase-1 proteins in lung tissue. In addition, the oxidative stress was alleviated as indicated by decreased MDA, and elevated SOD and GSH. MaR2 has an obvious protective effect on OVA-induced bronchial asthma in mice, in a similar manner as Dexa. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed gastrointestinal malignancies worldwide and has high rates of morbidity and mortality. Propofol has been reported to have certain anticancer properties. However, the role and mechanism of propofol in CRC are not entirely clear. CRC cells were treated with propofol and/or LDH-overexpression plasmids, and a mouse xenograft model of CRC was also established and treated with propofol. Cell viability, migration, and invasion were evaluated by CCK-8, wound healing, and transwell assays; the expression of related proteins was confirmed by western blotting; indexes of the glycolytic pathway were analyzed using specialized kits; tumor growth in mice was measured; pathological tissue structure was assessed by H&E staining; and 8-OHDG expression was determined by an immunochemistry assay. Our results verified that propofol could effectively prevent the malignant behaviors of CRC cells by suppressing cell viability, migration, and invasion and accelerating apoptosis. We also discovered that propofol could attenuate the glycolytic pathway in CRC cells. Moreover, we proved that lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was required for the inhibitory effects of propofol on the growth of CRC cells, including glycolysis in CRC cells. Furthermore, our results showed that propofol could not only significantly inhibit tumor growth and glycolysis, but also ameliorate the pathological structure of CRC tumors. We sought to assess the protective effect of different doses of Fingolimod (FTY720) in a rat model of acute lung injury (ALI) induced by intratracheal instillation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and explored the underlying mechanisms. The ALI model was established in rats and different doses of FTY720 (0.1 mg/kg, 0.2 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg, 1 mg/kg, or 2 mg/kg) were injected intraperitoneally. Lung computed tomography and blood gas analyses were performed at 6 h, 24 h, and 48 h after intraperitoneal injection, and the lung tissues were extracted to prepare paraffin sections for histopathological examination. The levels of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β) were detected by ELISA, and the expressions of inflammatory pathway proteins in each group were measured by Western blot analysis. A single intraperitoneal injection of FTY720 inhibited LPS-induced NF-κB activation, reduced the level of inflammatory cytokines, and decreased the infiltration of inflammatory cells. Moreover, it alleviated lung tissue injury, as shown by marked attenuation of pulmonary oedema and improved arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO 2 ) and the general condition of ALI rats. In conclusion, our results demonstrate the protective effect of FTY720 against LPS-induced ALI. The underlying mechanism of the protective effect may involve inhibition of LPS-induced activation of NF-κB and regulation of the inflammatory pathway to alleviate barrier dysfunction of alveolar capillaries., (Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Objective: This study examined whether the immunomodulator fingolimod (FTY720) could alleviate renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced lung injury and explored the potential mechanisms., Methods: Renal I/R was established in a rat model, and FTY720 (0.5, 1, or 2 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally after 15 minutes of ischemia. Pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and the mRNA expression of the sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P)-related signaling pathway genes sphingosine kinase-1 (SphK1) and sphingosine kinase-2 were analyzed in lung tissue., Results: Increased pro-inflammatory cytokine levels; decreased total superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase levels; increased apoptosis; and increased S1P lyase and SphK1 expression were observed following renal I/R. FTY720 reversed renal I/R-induced changes and effectively attenuated lung injury., Conclusion: FTY720 protected against acute lung injury in rats subjected to renal I/R by decreasing pulmonary inflammation and apoptosis, increasing oxidative stress, and modulating S1P metabolism.

Taking two-year-old Diospyros kaki as test material, this paper studied the effects of high CO2 concentration (700 micromol x mol(-1)), high temperature (5 degrees C higher than the mean daily temperature); and their combination on the net photosynthesis rate (Pn), evapotranspiration (Tr), stomatal conductance (Gs), water use efficiency (WUE), chlorophyll content, Fv/Fm, and Fv/Fo under different soil moisture conditions, with the ambient air temperature and CO2 concentration (380 micromol x mol(-1)) as the control. Under all test soil moisture conditions, the combination of high CO2 concentration and high temperature decreased the Tr and Gs, but increased the WUE. This combination increased the Pn when the soil moisture content was 75%-85% and 55%-65% of field capacity, but decreased the Pn when the soil moisture content was 35%-45%. High CO2 concentration increased the Pn and WUE but decreased the Gs and Tr under all test soil moisture conditions. The effects of high temperature and its combination with high CO2 concentration on the WUE depended on soil moisture condition, with the WUE increased with increasing soil moisture content. Comparing with the control, high CO2 concentration also increased the leaf Chla, Chlb, Chl (a + b), and Car concentrations and the Fv/Fm and Fv/Fo values, relieved the water stress, and increased the stress-resistance of D. kaki.

Objective: To investigate the relation of the visual function recovery and the postoperative form of the idiopathic macular holes., Methods: 38 eyes with macular holes which were closed after one surgery were selected and were grouped into type of complete healed, partial healed and no healed by Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT). Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (SLO) examination were performed preoperatively and 1 month, 3 months and 6 months postoperatively to detect the sensitivity, areas of absolute scotoma, relative scotoma and central visual acuity., Results: Among type of complete healed group and type of partial healed group 6 months after vitrectomy the central vision, sensitivity, areas of absolute scotoma and relative scotoma had statistical significant improvement. The central vision and sensitivity improved postoperatively and areas of absolute scotoma and relative scotoma had no significant changes in type of no healed group. The extent of improvement of vision, sensitivity, absolute scotoma in type of complete healed group was more greater than type of partial healed group and no healed group. The fovea configuration of stage II macular holes was easier to recover completely., Conclusions: The recovery of the normal curvature of macular fovea is positive to the improvement of the visual function. The better the fovea contour recover, the more significantly the visual function improve. The early stage of macular holes (stage II) could get better improvement of visual function.
