Microcavity exciton polaritons (polaritons) as part-light part-matter quasiparticles, garner significant attention for non-equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensation at elevated temperatures. Recently, halide perovskites have emerged as promising room-temperature polaritonic platforms thanks to their large exciton binding energies and superior optical properties. However, currently, inducing room-temperature non-equilibrium polariton condensation in perovskite microcavities requires optical pulsed excitations with high excitation densities. Herein, we demonstrate continuous-wave optically pumped polariton condensation with an exceptionally low threshold of ~0.6 W cm-2 and a narrow linewidth of ~1 meV. Polariton condensation is unambiguously demonstrated by characterizing the nonlinear behavior and coherence properties. We also identify a microscopic mechanism involving the potential landscape in the perovskite microcavity, where numerous discretized energy levels arising from the hybridization of adjacent potential minima enhance the polariton relaxation, facilitating polariton condensate formation. Modeling optical field propagation in highly scattering and birefringent medium is of important interest to many photonic research branches. Despite the existence of numerical electromagnetic simulation tools and beam propagation method frameworks, there has been a lack of an analytical model including the full tensor nature of birefringence, which is an essential forward-propagation tool for applications requiring efficiently iterative regularization and end-to-end designs. Here, we present an analytical tool for modeling field propagation in a birefringent scattering medium by including a full set of field tensor elements and multiple scattering characteristics. Ultrahigh-resolution optical strain sensors provide powerful tools in various scientific and engineering fields, ranging from long-baseline interferometers to civil and aerospace industries. Here we demonstrate an ultrahigh-resolution fibre strain sensing method by directly detecting the time-of-flight (TOF) change of the optical pulse train generated from a free-running passively mode-locked laser (MLL) frequency comb. We achieved a local strain resolution of 18 p{\epsilon}/Hz1/2 and 1.9 p{\epsilon}/Hz1/2 at 1 Hz and 3 kHz, respectively, with largedynamic range of >154 dB at 3 kHz. For remote-point sensing at 1-km distance, 80 p{\epsilon}/Hz1/2 (at 1 Hz) and 2.2 p{\epsilon}/Hz1/2 (at 3 kHz) resolution is demonstrated. While attaining both ultrahigh resolution and large dynamic range, the demonstrated method can be readily extended for multiple-point sensing as well by taking advantage of the broad optical comb spectra. In chiral sum frequency generation (C-SFG), the chiral nature of ${\chi}^{(2)}$ requires the three involved electric fields to be pairwise non-parallel, leading to the traditional non-collinear configuration which is a hindrance for achieving diffraction limited resolution while utilizing it as a label-free imaging contrast mechanism . Here we propose a collinear C-SFG (CC-SFG) microscopy modality by using longitudinal z-polarized vectorial field. Label-free chiral imaging with enhanced spatial resolution (~1.4 times improvement in one lateral and the longitudinal directions over the traditional non-collinear scheme) is demonstrated, providing a new path for SFG microscopy with diffraction-limited resolution for mapping chirality., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy has become a powerful imaging and localized excitation method beating the diffraction barrier for improved lateral spatial resolution in cellular imaging, lithography, etc. Due to specimen-induced aberrations and scattering distortion, it has been a great challenge for STED to maintain consistent lateral resolution deeply inside the specimens. Here we report on a deep imaging STED microscopy by using Gaussian beam for excitation and hollow Bessel beam for depletion (GB-STED). The proposed scheme shows the improved imaging depth up to ~155{\mu}m in solid agarose sample, ~115{\mu}m in PDMS and ~100{\mu}m in phantom of gray matter in brain tissue with consistent super resolution, while the standard STED microscopy shown a significantly reduced lateral resolution at the same imaging depth. The results indicate the excellent imaging penetration capability of GB-STED, making it a promising tool for deep 3D imaging optical nanoscopy and laser fabrication., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures

We demonstrate experimentally a new form of induced transparency, i.e., chaos-induced transparency, in a slightly deformed microcavity which support both continuous chaotic modes and discrete regular modes with Q factors exceeding 3X?10^7. When excited by a focused laser beam, the induced transparency in the transmission spectrum originates from the destructive interference of two parallel optical pathways: (i) directly refractive excitation of the chaotic modes, and (ii) excitation of the ultra-high-Q regular mode via chaos-assisted dynamical tunneling mechanism coupling back to the chaotic modes. By controlling the focal position of the laser beam, the induced transparency experiences a highly tunable Fano-like asymmetric lineshape. The experimental results are modeled by a quantum scattering theory and show excellent agreement. This chaos-induced transparency is accompanied by extremely steep normal dispersion, and may open up new possibilities a dramatic slow light behavior and a significant enhancement of nonlinear interactions., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figues
