The B-mode ultrasound based computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) has demonstrated its effectiveness for diagnosis of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) in infants. However, due to effect of speckle noise in ultrasound im-ages, it is still a challenge task to accurately detect hip landmarks. In this work, we propose a novel hip landmark detection model by integrating the Topological GCN (TGCN) with an Improved Conformer (TGCN-ICF) into a unified frame-work to improve detection performance. The TGCN-ICF includes two subnet-works: an Improved Conformer (ICF) subnetwork to generate heatmaps and a TGCN subnetwork to additionally refine landmark detection. This TGCN can effectively improve detection accuracy with the guidance of class labels. Moreo-ver, a Mutual Modulation Fusion (MMF) module is developed for deeply ex-changing and fusing the features extracted from the U-Net and Transformer branches in ICF. The experimental results on the real DDH dataset demonstrate that the proposed TGCN-ICF outperforms all the compared algorithms.

Topologically protected edge state transport in quantum materials is dissipationless and features quantized Hall conductance, and shows great potential in highly fault-tolerant computing technologies. However, it remains elusive about how to develop topological edge state-based computing devices. Recently, exploration and understanding of interfacial ferroelectricity in various van der Waals heterostructure material systems have received widespread attention among the community of materials science and condensed matter physics3-11. Such ferroelectric polarization emergent at the vdW interface can coexist with other quantum states and thus provides an unprecedented opportunity to electrically switch the topological edge states of interest, which is of crucial significance to the fault-tolerant electronic device applications based on the topological edge states. Here, we report the selective and quasi-continuous ferroelectric switching of topological Chern insulator devices and demonstrate its promising application in noise-immune neuromorphic computing. We fabricate this ferroelectric Chern insulator device by encapsulating magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene with doubly-aligned h-BN layers, and observe the coexistence of the interfacial ferroelectricity and the topological Chern insulating states. This ferroelectricity exhibits an anisotropic dependence on the in-plane magnetic field. By using a VBG pulse with delicately controlled amplitude, we realize the nonvolatile switching between any pair of Chern insulating states and achieve 1280 distinguishable nonvolatile resistance levels on a single device. Furthermore, we demonstrate deterministic switching between two arbitrary levels among the record-high number of nonvolatile resistance levels.

The Very Large Area gamma-ray Space Telescope (VLAST) is a mission concept proposed to detect gamma-ray photons through both the Compton scattering and electron-positron pair production mechanisms, enabling the detection of photons with energies ranging from MeV to TeV. This project aims to conduct a comprehensive survey of the gamma-ray sky from a low Earth orbit using an anti-coincidence detector, a tracker detector that also serves as a low energy calorimeter, and a high energy imaging calorimeter. We developed a Monte Carlo simulation application of the detector with the GEANT4 toolkit to evaluate the instrument performance including the effective area, angular resolution and energy resolution, as well as explored specific optimizations of the detector configuration. Our simulation-based analysis indicates that the VLAST's current design is physically feasible, with an acceptance larger than 10~$\rm m^2\ sr$ which is four times larger than Fermi-LAT, an energy resolution better than 2\% at 10~GeV, and an angular resolution better than 0.2 degrees at 10~GeV. Existing WSI analysis methods lie on the consensus that histopathological characteristics of tumors are significant guidance for cancer diagnostics. Particularly, as the evolution of cancers is a continuous process, the correlations and differences across various stages, anatomical locations and patients should be taken into account. However, recent research mainly focuses on the inner-contextual information in a single WSI, ignoring the correlations between slides. To verify whether introducing the slide inter-correlations can bring improvements to WSI representation learning, we propose a generic WSI analysis pipeline SlideGCD that considers the existing multi-instance learning (MIL) methods as the backbone and forge the WSI classification task as a node classification problem. More specifically, SlideGCD declares a node buffer that stores previous slide embeddings for subsequent extensive slide-based graph construction and conducts graph learning to explore the inter-correlations implied in the slide-based graph. Moreover, we frame the MIL classifier and graph learning into two parallel workflows and deploy the knowledge distillation to transfer the differentiable information to the graph neural network. The consistent performance boosting, brought by SlideGCD, of four previous state-of-the-art MIL methods is observed on two TCGA benchmark datasets. The decay $\eta\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ is an ideal process in which to study flavor-conserving $C$ and $CP$ violation beyond the Standard Model. We deduce the $C$- and $CP$-odd quark operators that contribute to $\eta\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ originating from the mass-dimension 6 Standard Model effective field theory. The corresponding hadron-level operators that generate a non-vanishing $I=0$ amplitude at order $p^6$ in the chiral effective theory are presented for the first time, in addition to the leading order operatorsascribed to the $I=2$ final state. By fitting the KLOE-2 and the most recent BESIII experimental data, we determine the coefficients of the lowest order $I=0$ and $I=2$ amplitudes and estimate the potential new physics energy scale. Large-scale pre-training models have promoted the development of histopathology image analysis. However, existing self-supervised methods for histopathology images focus on learning patch features, while there is still a lack of available pre-training models for WSI-level feature learning. In this paper, we propose a novel self-supervised learning framework for pan-cancer WSI-level representation pre-training with the designed position-aware masked autoencoder (PAMA). Meanwhile, we propose the position-aware cross-attention (PACA) module with a kernel reorientation (KRO) strategy and an anchor dropout (AD) mechanism. The KRO strategy can capture the complete semantic structure and eliminate ambiguity in WSIs, and the AD contributes to enhancing the robustness and generalization of the model. We evaluated our method on 6 large-scale datasets from multiple organs for pan-cancer classification tasks. The results have demonstrated the effectiveness of PAMA in generalized and discriminative WSI representation learning and pan-cancer WSI pre-training. The proposed method was also compared with 7 WSI analysis methods. Content-based histopathological image retrieval (CBHIR) has gained attention in recent years, offering the capability to return histopathology images that are content-wise similar to the query one from an established database. However, in clinical practice, the continuously expanding size of WSI databases limits the practical application of the current CBHIR methods. In this paper, we propose a Lifelong Whole Slide Retrieval (LWSR) framework to address the challenges of catastrophic forgetting by progressive model updating on continuously growing retrieval database. Our framework aims to achieve the balance between stability and plasticity during continuous learning. To preserve system plasticity, we utilize local memory bank with reservoir sampling method to save instances, which can comprehensively encompass the feature spaces of both old and new tasks. Furthermore, A distance consistency rehearsal (DCR) module is designed to ensure the retrieval queue's consistency for previous tasks, which is regarded as stability within a lifelong CBHIR system. We evaluated the proposed method on four public WSI datasets from TCGA projects. Nonreciprocal quantum transport effect is mainly governed by the symmetry breaking of the material systems and is gaining extensive attention in condensed matter physics. Realizing electrical switching of the polarity of the nonreciprocal transport without external magnetic field is essential to the development of nonreciprocal quantum devices. However, electrical switching of superconducting nonreciprocity remains yet to be achieved. Here, we report the observation of field-free electrical switching of nonreciprocal Ising superconductivity in Fe3GeTe2/NbSe2 van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure. By taking advantage of this electrically switchable superconducting nonreciprocity, we demonstrate a proof-of-concept nonreciprocal quantum neuronal transistor, which allows for implementing the XOR logic gate and faithfully emulating biological functionality of a cortical neuron in the brain. Our work provides a promising pathway to realize field-free and electrically switchable nonreciprocity of quantum transport and demonstrate its potential in exploring neuromorphic quantum devices with both functionality and performance beyond the traditional devices.

Silicon strip detectors have been widely utilized in space experiments for gamma-ray and cosmic-ray detections thanks to their high spatial resolution and stable performance. For a silicon micro-strip detector, the Monte Carlo simulation is recognized as a practical and cost-effective approach to verify the detector performance. In this study, a technique for the simulation of the silicon micro-strip detector with the $\rm Allpix^{2}$ framework is developed. By incorporating the electric field into the particle transport simulation based on Geant4, this framework could precisely emulate the carrier drift in the silicon micro-strip detector. The simulation results are validated using the beam test data as well as the flight data of the DAMPE experiment, which suggests that the $\rm Allpix^{2}$ framework is a powerful tool to obtain the performance of the silicon micro-strip detector.

In this paper, we tackle the problem of grasping transparent and specular objects. This issue holds importance, yet it remains unsolved within the field of robotics due to failure of recover their accurate geometry by depth cameras. For the first time, we propose ASGrasp, a 6-DoF grasp detection network that uses an RGB-D active stereo camera. ASGrasp utilizes a two-layer learning-based stereo network for the purpose of transparent object reconstruction, enabling material-agnostic object grasping in cluttered environments. In contrast to existing RGB-D based grasp detection methods, which heavily depend on depth restoration networks and the quality of depth maps generated by depth cameras, our system distinguishes itself by its ability to directly utilize raw IR and RGB images for transparent object geometry reconstruction. We create an extensive synthetic dataset through domain randomization, which is based on GraspNet-1Billion. Our experiments demonstrate that ASGrasp can achieve over 90% success rate for generalizable transparent object grasping in both simulation and the real via seamless sim-to-real transfer. Active learning is considered a viable solution to alleviate the contradiction between the high dependency of deep learning-based segmentation methods on annotated data and the expensive pixel-level annotation cost of medical images. However, most existing methods suffer from unreliable uncertainty assessment and the struggle to balance diversity and informativeness, leading to poor performance in segmentation tasks. In response, we propose an efficient Predictive Accuracy-based Active Learning (PAAL) method for medical image segmentation, first introducing predictive accuracy to define uncertainty. Specifically, PAAL mainly consists of an Accuracy Predictor (AP) and a Weighted Polling Strategy (WPS). The former is an attached learnable module that can accurately predict the segmentation accuracy of unlabeled samples relative to the target model with the predicted posterior probability. The latter provides an efficient hybrid querying scheme by combining predicted accuracy and feature representation, aiming to ensure the uncertainty and diversity of the acquired samples. Extensive experiment results on multiple datasets demonstrate the superiority of PAAL. PAAL achieves comparable accuracy to fully annotated data while reducing annotation costs by approximately 50% to 80%, showcasing significant potential in clinical applications. The realization of universal robots is an ultimate goal of researchers. However, a key hurdle in achieving this goal lies in the robots' ability to manipulate objects in their unstructured surrounding environments according to different tasks. The learning-based approach is considered an effective way to address generalization. The impressive performance of foundation models in the fields of computer vision and natural language suggests the potential of embedding foundation models into manipulation tasks as a viable path toward achieving general manipulation capability. However, we believe achieving general manipulation capability requires an overarching framework akin to auto driving. This framework should encompass multiple functional modules, with different foundation models assuming distinct roles in facilitating general manipulation capability. This survey focuses on the contributions of foundation models to robot learning for manipulation. We propose a comprehensive framework and detail how foundation models can address challenges in each module of the framework. What's more, we examine current approaches, outline challenges, suggest future research directions, and identify potential risks associated with integrating foundation models into this domain.

The spin Hall effect (SHE) allows efficient generation of spin polarization or spin current through charge current and plays a crucial role in the development of spintronics. While SHE typically occurs in non-magnetic materials and is time-reversal even, exploring time-reversal-odd (T-odd) SHE, which couples SHE to magnetization in ferromagnetic materials, offers a new charge-spin conversion mechanism with new functionalities. Here, we report the observation of giant T-odd SHE in Fe3GeTe2/MoTe2 van der Waals heterostructure, representing a previously unidentified interfacial magnetic spin Hall effect (interfacial-MSHE). Through rigorous symmetry analysis and theoretical calculations, we attribute the interfacial-MSHE to a symmetry-breaking induced spin current dipole at the vdW interface. Furthermore, we show that this linear effect can be used for implementing multiply-accumulate operations and binary convolutional neural networks with cascaded multi-terminal devices. Our findings uncover an interfacial T-odd charge-spin conversion mechanism with promising potential for energy-efficient in-memory computing.

Through pretraining on a corpus with various sources, Large Language Models (LLMs) have gained impressive performance. However, the impact of each component of the pretraining corpus remains opaque. As a result, the organization of the pretraining corpus is still empirical and may deviate from the optimal. To address this issue, we systematically analyze the impact of 48 datasets from 5 major categories of pretraining data of LLMs and measure their impacts on LLMs using benchmarks about nine major categories of model capabilities. Our analyses provide empirical results about the contribution of multiple corpora on the performances of LLMs, along with their joint impact patterns, including complementary, orthogonal, and correlational relationships. We also identify a set of ``high-impact data'' such as Books that is significantly related to a set of model capabilities. Tensor program tuning is essential for the efficient deployment of deep neural networks. Search-based approaches have demonstrated scalability and effectiveness in automatically finding high-performance programs for specific hardware. However, the search process is often inefficient, taking hours or even days to discover optimal programs due to the exploration mechanisms guided by an accurate but slow learned cost model. Meanwhile, the learned cost model trained on one platform cannot seamlessly adapt online to another, which we call cross-platform online unawareness. In this work, we propose Pruner and MoA-Pruner. Pruner is a speculative exploration mechanism that accelerates the search process using a "Draft-then-Verify" paradigm. Instead of applying the complex learned cost model to all explored candidates, Pruner drafts small-scale speculative candidates by introducing a naive symbol analyzer (draft model), then identifies the best candidates by the learned cost model. MoA-Pruner introduces Momentum online Adaptation to address the cross-platform online unawareness. We incorporate these techniques into the Ansor and conduct extensive experiments on three GPU-based platforms. Results show that in online cost model tuning scenarios, Pruner and MoA-Pruner can achieve an average speedup of $2.6 \times$ and $4.82 \times$ compared to Ansor. In offline tuning scenarios, Pruner can achieve an average speedup of $4.75 \times$ and $4.05\times$ compared to TenSet and TLP, respectively. Multi-modal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) offers complementary diagnostic information, but some modalities are limited by the long scanning time. To accelerate the whole acquisition process, MRI reconstruction of one modality from highly undersampled k-space data with another fully-sampled reference modality is an efficient solution. However, the misalignment between modalities, which is common in clinic practice, can negatively affect reconstruction quality. Existing deep learning-based methods that account for inter-modality misalignment perform better, but still share two main common limitations: (1) The spatial alignment task is not adaptively integrated with the reconstruction process, resulting in insufficient complementarity between the two tasks; (2) the entire framework has weak interpretability. In this paper, we construct a novel Deep Unfolding Network with Spatial Alignment, termed DUN-SA, to appropriately embed the spatial alignment task into the reconstruction process. Concretely, we derive a novel joint alignment-reconstruction model with a specially designed cross-modal spatial alignment term. By relaxing the model into cross-modal spatial alignment and multi-modal reconstruction tasks, we propose an effective algorithm to solve this model alternatively. Then, we unfold the iterative steps of the proposed algorithm and design corresponding network modules to build DUN-SA with interpretability. Through end-to-end training, we effectively compensate for spatial misalignment using only reconstruction loss, and utilize the progressively aligned reference modality to provide inter-modality prior to improve the reconstruction of the target modality. Comprehensive experiments on three real datasets demonstrate that our method exhibits superior reconstruction performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.

We present RobotGPT, an innovative decision framework for robotic manipulation that prioritizes stability and safety. The execution code generated by ChatGPT cannot guarantee the stability and safety of the system. ChatGPT may provide different answers for the same task, leading to unpredictability. This instability prevents the direct integration of ChatGPT into the robot manipulation loop. Although setting the temperature to 0 can generate more consistent outputs, it may cause ChatGPT to lose diversity and creativity. Our objective is to leverage ChatGPT's problem-solving capabilities in robot manipulation and train a reliable agent. The framework includes an effective prompt structure and a robust learning model. Additionally, we introduce a metric for measuring task difficulty to evaluate ChatGPT's performance in robot manipulation. Furthermore, we evaluate RobotGPT in both simulation and real-world environments. Compared to directly using ChatGPT to generate code, our framework significantly improves task success rates, with an average increase from 38.5% to 91.5%. Therefore, training a RobotGPT by utilizing ChatGPT as an expert is a more stable approach compared to directly using ChatGPT as a task planner.

The realm of classical phase retrieval concerns itself with the arduous task of recovering a signal from its Fourier magnitude measurements, which are fraught with inherent ambiguities. A single-exposure intensity measurement is commonly deemed insufficient for the reconstruction of the primal signal, given that the absent phase component is imperative for the inverse transformation. In this work, we present a novel single-shot phase retrieval paradigm from a fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) perspective, which involves integrating the FrFT-based physical measurement model within a self-supervised reconstruction scheme. Specifically, the proposed FrFT-based measurement model addresses the aliasing artifacts problem in the numerical calculation of Fresnel diffraction, featuring adaptability to both short-distance and long-distance propagation scenarios. Moreover, the intensity measurement in the FrFT domain proves highly effective in alleviating the ambiguities of phase retrieval and relaxing the previous conditions on oversampled or multiple measurements in the Fourier domain. Furthermore, the proposed self-supervised reconstruction approach harnesses the fast discrete algorithm of FrFT alongside untrained neural network priors, thereby attaining preeminent results. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that both amplitude and phase objects can be effectively retrieved from a single-shot intensity measurement using the proposed approach and provide a promising technique for support-free coherent diffraction imaging.

Pulsar search is always the basis of pulsar navigation, gravitational wave detection and other research topics. Currently, the volume of pulsar candidates collected by Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) shows an explosive growth rate that has brought challenges for its pulsar candidate filtering System. Particularly, the multi-view heterogeneous data and class imbalance between true pulsars and non-pulsar candidates have negative effects on traditional single-modal supervised classification methods. In this study, a multi-modal and semi-supervised learning based pulsar candidate sifting algorithm is presented, which adopts a hybrid ensemble clustering scheme of density-based and partition-based methods combined with a feature-level fusion strategy for input data and a data partition strategy for parallelization. Experiments on both HTRU (The High Time Resolution Universe Survey) 2 and FAST actual observation data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm could excellently identify the pulsars: On HTRU2, the precision and recall rates of its parallel mode reach 0.981 and 0.988. On FAST data, those of its parallel mode reach 0.891 and 0.961, meanwhile, the running time also significantly decrease with the increment of parallel nodes within limits. So, we can get the conclusion that our algorithm could be a feasible idea for large scale pulsar candidate sifting of FAST drift scan observation.

Reservoir computing has been considered as a promising intelligent computing paradigm for effectively processing complex temporal information. Exploiting tunable and reproducible dynamics in the single electronic device have been desired to implement the reservoir and the readout layer of reservoir computing system. Two-dimensional moire material, with an artificial lattice constant many times larger than the atomic length scale, is one type of most studied artificial quantum materials in community of material science and condensed-matter physics over the past years. These materials are featured with gate-tunable periodic potential and electronic correlation, thus varying the electric field allows the electrons in the moire potential per unit cell to exhibit distinct and reproducible dynamics, showing great promise in robust reservoir computing. Here, we report that a moire synaptic transistor can be used to implement the reservoir computing system with a homogeneous reservoir-readout architecture. The synaptic transistor is fabricated based on a h-BN/bilayer graphene/h-BN moire heterostructure, exhibiting ferroelectricity-like hysteretic gate voltage dependence of resistance. Varying the magnitude of the gate voltage enables the moire transistor to be switched between long-term memory and short-term memory with nonlinear dynamics. By employing the short- and long-term memory as the reservoir nodes and weights of the readout layer, respectively, we construct a full-moire physical neural network and demonstrate that the classification accuracy of 90.8% can be achieved for the MNIST handwritten digit database. Our work would pave the way towards the development of neuromorphic computing based on the moire materials.

We propose a novel smearing scheme which gives a Gaussian-like profile and is more efficient than the traditional Gaussian smearing in terms of computer time consumption. We also carry out a detailed analysis of the profiles, smearing sizes, and the behaviors of hadron effective masses of different smearing schemes, and point out that having a sufficient number of gauge paths in a smearing scheme is essential to produce strong smearing effects. For a moderate smearing size $\bar{r}\sim 10a$, the time cost for the novel smearing is less than $1/8$ of that for the traditional Gaussian smearing. In practical lattice calculations with larger smearing sizes or finer lattice spacings the improvement will be more substantial.

Parallel wireless digital communication with ultralow power consumption is critical for emerging edge technologies such as 5G and Internet of Things. However, the physical separation between digital computing units and analogue transmission units in traditional wireless technology leads to high power consumption. Here we report a parallel in-memory wireless computing scheme. The approach combines in-memory computing with wireless communication using memristive crossbar arrays. We show that the system can be used for the radio transmission of a binary stream of 480 bits with a bit error rate of 0. The in-memory wireless computing uses two orders of magnitude less power than conventional technology (based on digital-to-analogue and analogue-to-digital converters). We also show that the approach can be applied to acoustic and optical wireless communications

In the real world, image degradations caused by rain often exhibit a combination of rain streaks and raindrops, thereby increasing the challenges of recovering the underlying clean image. Note that the rain streaks and raindrops have diverse shapes, sizes, and locations in the captured image, and thus modeling the correlation relationship between irregular degradations caused by rain artifacts is a necessary prerequisite for image deraining. This paper aims to present an efficient and flexible mechanism to learn and model degradation relationships in a global view, thereby achieving a unified removal of intricate rain scenes. To do so, we propose a Sparse Sampling Transformer based on Uncertainty-Driven Ranking, dubbed UDR-S2Former. Compared to previous methods, our UDR-S2Former has three merits. First, it can adaptively sample relevant image degradation information to model underlying degradation relationships. Second, explicit application of the uncertainty-driven ranking strategy can facilitate the network to attend to degradation features and understand the reconstruction process. As a new member of the Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) after GECAM-A and GECAM-B, GECAM-C (originally called HEBS), which was launched on board the SATech-01 satellite on July 27, 2022, aims to monitor and localize X-ray and gamma-ray transients from $\sim$ 6 keV to 6 MeV. GECAM-C utilizes a similar design to GECAM but operates in a more complex orbital environment. In this work, we utilize the secondary particles simultaneously produced by the cosmic-ray events on orbit and recorded by multiple detectors, to calibrate the relative timing accuracy between all detectors of GECAM-C. We find the result is 0.1 $\mu \rm s$, which is the highest time resolution among all GRB detectors ever flown and very helpful in timing analyses such as minimum variable timescale and spectral lags, as well as in time delay localization. Besides, we calibrate the absolute time accuracy using the one-year Crab pulsar data observed by GECAM-C and Fermi/GBM, as well as GECAM-C and GECAM-B. The results are $2.02\pm 2.26\ \mu \rm s$ and $5.82\pm 3.59\ \mu \rm s$, respectively. Finally, we investigate the spectral lag between the different energy bands of Crab pulsar observed by GECAM and GBM, which is $\sim -0.2\ {\rm \mu s\ keV^{-1}}$., Comment: submitted

We report on a full-polarization analysis of the first 25 as yet non-repeating FRBs detected at 1.4 GHz by the 110-antenna Deep Synoptic Array (DSA-110) during commissioning observations. We present details of the data-reduction, calibration, and analysis procedures developed for this novel instrument. Faraday rotation measures (RMs) are searched between $\pm10^6$ rad m$^{-2}$ and detected for 20 FRBs with magnitudes ranging from $4-4670$ rad m$^{-2}$. $15/25$ FRBs are consistent with 100% polarization, 10 of which have high ($\ge70\%$) linear-polarization fractions and 2 of which have high ($\ge30\%$) circular-polarization fractions. Our results disfavor multipath RM scattering as a dominant depolarization mechanism. Polarization-state and possible RM variations are observed in the four FRBs with multiple sub-components. We combine the DSA-110 sample with polarimetry of previously published FRBs, and compare the polarization properties of FRB sub-populations and FRBs with Galactic pulsars. Although FRB polarization fractions are typically higher than those of Galactic pulsars, and cover a wider range than those of pulsar single pulses, they resemble those of the youngest (characteristic ages $<10^{5}$ yr) pulsars. Our results support a scenario wherein FRB emission is intrinsically highly linearly polarized, and propagation effects can result in conversion to circular polarization and depolarization. Faraday rotation measures (RMs) of fast radio bursts (FRBs) offer the prospect of directly measuring extragalactic magnetic fields. We present an analysis of the RMs of ten as yet non-repeating FRBs detected and localized to host galaxies by the 110-antenna Deep Synoptic Array (DSA-110). We combine this sample with published RMs of 15 localized FRBs, nine of which are repeating sources. For each FRB in the combined sample, we estimate the host-galaxy dispersion measure (DM) contributions and extragalactic RM. We find compelling evidence that the extragalactic components of FRB RMs are often dominated by contributions from the host-galaxy interstellar medium (ISM). Specifically, we find that both repeating and as yet non-repeating FRBs show a correlation between the host-DM and host-RM in the rest frame, and we find an anti-correlation between extragalactic RM (in the observer frame) and redshift for non-repeaters, as expected if the magnetized plasma is in the host galaxy. Important exceptions to the ISM origin include a dense, magnetized circum-burst medium in some repeating FRBs, and the intra-cluster medium (ICM) of host or intervening galaxy clusters. We find that the estimated ISM magnetic-field strengths, $\bar{B}_{||}$, are characteristically larger than those inferred from Galactic radio pulsars. Two-dimensional (2D) ferrovalley semiconductor (FVSC) with spontaneous valley polarization offers an exciting material platform for probing Berry phase physics. How FVSC can be incorporated in valleytronic device applications, however, remain an open question. Here we generalize the concept of metal/semiconductor (MS) contact into the realm of valleytronics. We propose a half-valley Ohmic contact based on FVSC/graphene heterostructure where the two valleys of FVSC separately forms Ohmic and Schottky contacts with those of graphene, thus allowing current to be valley-selectively injected through the `Ohmic' valley while being blocked in the `Schottky' valley. We develop a theory of contact-limited valley-contrasting current injection and demonstrate that such transport mechanism can produce gate-tunable valley-polarized injection current. Using RuCl$_2$/graphene heterostructure as an example, we illustrate a device concept of valleytronic barristor where high valley polarization efficiency and sizable current on/off ratio, can be achieved under experimentally feasible electrostatic gating conditions. These findings uncover contact-limited valley-contrasting current injection as an efficient mechanism for valley polarization manipulation, and reveals the potential of valleytronic MS contact as a functional building block of valleytronic device technology., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

The study of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) and power density spectra (PDS) continuum properties can help shed light on the still illusive emission physics of magnetars and as a window into the interiors of neutron stars using asteroseismology. In this work, we employ a Bayesian method to search for the QPOs in the hundreds of X-ray bursts from SGR J1935+2154 observed by {\it Insight}-HXMT, GECAM and Fermi/GBM from July 2014 to January 2022. Although no definitive QPO signal (significance $>3\sigma$) is detected in individual bursts or the averaged periodogram of the bursts grouped by duration, we identify several bursts exhibiting possible QPO at $\sim$ 40 Hz, which is consistent with that reported in the X-ray burst associated with FRB 200428. We investigate the PDS continuum properties and find that the distribution of the PDS slope in the simple power-law model peaks $\sim$ 2.5, which is consistent with other magnetars but higher than 5/3 commonly seen in gamma-ray bursts. Besides, the distribution of the break frequency in the broken power-law model peaks at $\sim$ 60 Hz. Finally, we report that the power-law index of PDS has an anti-correlation and power-law dependence on the burst duration as well as the minimum variation timescale., Comment: comments welcome

The minimum variation timescale (MVT) of soft gamma-ray repeaters can be an important probe to estimate the emission region in pulsar-like models, as well as the Lorentz factor and radius of the possible relativistic jet in gamma-ray burst (GRB)-like models, thus revealing their progenitors and physical mechanisms. In this work, we systematically study the MVTs of hundreds of X-ray bursts (XRBs) from SGR J1935+2154 observed by {\it Insight}-HXMT, GECAM and Fermi/GBM from July 2014 to Jan 2022 through the Bayesian Block algorithm. We find that the MVTs peak at $\sim$ 2 ms, corresponding to a light travel time size of about 600 km, which supports the magnetospheric origin in pulsar-like models. The shock radius and the Lorentz factor of the jet are also constrained in GRB-like models. Interestingly, the MVT of the XRB associated with FRB 200428 is $\sim$ 70 ms, which is longer than that of most bursts and implies its special radiation mechanism. Besides, the median of MVTs is 7 ms, shorter than the median MVTs of 40 ms and 480 ms for short GRBs or long GRBs, respectively. However, the MVT is independent of duration, similar to GRBs. Finally, we investigate the energy dependence of MVT and suggest that there is a marginal evidence for a power-law relationship like GRBs but the rate of variation is at least about an order of magnitude smaller. Whole slide image (WSI) classification is an essential task in computational pathology. Despite the recent advances in multiple instance learning (MIL) for WSI classification, accurate classification of WSIs remains challenging due to the extreme imbalance between the positive and negative instances in bags, and the complicated pre-processing to fuse multi-scale information of WSI. To this end, we propose a novel multi-scale prototypical Transformer (MSPT) for WSI classification, which includes a prototypical Transformer (PT) module and a multi-scale feature fusion module (MFFM). The PT is developed to reduce redundant instances in bags by integrating prototypical learning into the Transformer architecture. It substitutes all instances with cluster prototypes, which are then re-calibrated through the self-attention mechanism of the Trans-former. Thereafter, an MFFM is proposed to fuse the clustered prototypes of different scales, which employs MLP-Mixer to enhance the information communication between prototypes. The experimental results on two public WSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed MSPT outperforms all the compared algorithms, suggesting its potential applications.
