IntroductionImproving photosynthetic use efficiency in dryland agroecosystems to sustain high agricultural yields is a key responsibility for ensuring food security.MethodsThis study was conducted in the regions on the semiarid Loess Plateau of China during 2018–2020. Dryland maize of Xianyu 335 comprised four modes: basic yield input (CK, plastic film mulching, 37500 plant.ha-1 of plant density and unfertilized), farmer input (FP, plastic film mulching, 45000 plant.ha-1 of plant density and inorganic nitrogen(N) and phosphate(P) fertilizer were 150kg.ha-1 and 90kg.ha-1), high yield and high-efficiency input (HH, full plastic-film mulching on double furrow, 67500 plant.ha-1 of plant density and N, P and organic manure(M) fertilizer were 230kg.ha-1, 140kg.ha-1 and 1500kg.ha-1), and super high yield input (SH, full plastic-film mulching on double furrow, 9000 plant.ha-1 of plant density and N, P and organic M fertilizer were 300kg.ha-1, 180kg.ha-1 and 7500kg.ha-1). The effects of different cultivation modes on yield, WUE, net photosynthetic rate(Pn), leaf area index(LAI), chlorophyll index(SPAD value) and root index were studied.ResultsThe results showed that the value average of yield and WUE for CK were 7790kg and 17480kg.ha-1 in three years. The distribution rules and hydrocarbon potential of source rocks are the major factors which determine oil and gas exploration in the northeastern Junggar Basin. Sedimentary background and environmental changes are the main factors controlling the genesis, distribution, and organic matter types of hydrocarbon source rocks. The main and trace elements and rare earth elements in sedimentary rocks are often influenced by palaeoclimate, paleo water chemical conditions, palaeoenvironment, and palaeosource during sedimentation process. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of the distribution patterns of elements in sedimentary rocks can help to determine sedimentary environment and evolution process. The geochemical characteristics of major and trace elements and rare earth elements for mudstones of the Upper Carboniferous Batamayineishan Formation from outcrops of the north- eastern Junggar Basin were studied to reveal the sedimentary environment and the tectonic setting of the provenance, which can provide geological constraints for the origin and development conditions of hydrocarbon source rocks. According to a comprehensive analysis on chemical weathering indicators, element contents, and ratios between various major and trace elements, the mudstones of Batamayineishan Formation were deposited in a warm and humid paleoclimate background, and the deposition process was relatively stable in a shallow water with brackish-fresh features under oxidizing environment. Major and trace elements of mudstones indicate that the parent rocks are sedimentary rocks and felsic volcanic rocks and their provenance is derived from the weathering products of acidic igneous rocks of the Karamaili Island Arc, reflecting the tectonic transition from compression to extension during the post collision stage. The depositional environment and tectonic setting controlled the increased input of terrestrial higher plants, resulting in the medium abundance of organic matter with good hydrocarbon generating potential.

Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors (CISs), known for their high integration, low cost, and superior performance, have found widespread applications in satellite and space exploration. However, the readout circuits of pixel arrays are vulnerable to functional failures in complex or intense radiation environments, particularly due to transient γ radiation. Using Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD) device simulations and Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) circuit simulations, combined with a double-exponential current source fault injection method, this study investigates the transient dose rate effect (TDRE) on a typical readout circuit of CISs. It presents the variations in the photoelectric signal under different dose rates and at different occurrence moments of the TDRE. The results show that, under low dose rates, the CIS readout circuit can still perform data acquisition and digital processing, with the photoelectric signal exhibiting some sensitivity to the occurrence moment. At high dose rates, however, the photoelectric signal not only remains sensitive to the occurrence moment but also shows significant discreteness. Further analysis of the CIS readout circuit sequence suggests that the occurrence moment is a critical factor affecting the circuit’s performance and should not be overlooked. These findings provide valuable insights and references for further research on the TDRE in circuits.

Background: In recent years, the advancement of computational chemistry has offered new insights into the rational design of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). From this aspect, our study tried to give quantitative parameters for evaluating imprinting efficiency and exploring the formation mechanism of MIPs by combining simulation and experiments. Methods: The pre-polymerization system of sulfadimethoxine (SDM) was investigated using a combination of quantum chemical (QC) calculations and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. MIPs were prepared on the surface of silica gel by a surface-initiated supplemental activator and reducing agent atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-SARA ATRP). Results: The results of the QC calculations showed that carboxylic monomers exhibited higher bonding energies with template molecules than carboxylic ester monomers. MD simulations confirmed the hydrogen bonding sites predicted by QC calculations. Furthermore, it was observed that only two molecules of monomers could bind up to one molecule of SDM, even when the functional monomer ratio was up to 10. Two quantitative parameters, namely, the effective binding number (EBN) and the maximum hydrogen bond number (HBNMax), were defined. Higher values of EBN and HBNMax indicated a higher effective binding efficiency. Hydrogen bond occupancies and RDF analysis were performed to analyze the hydrogen bond formation between the template and the monomer from different perspectives. Furthermore, under the influence of the EBN and collision probability of the template and the monomers, the experimental results show that the optimal molar ratio of template to monomer is 1:3. Conclusions: The method of monomer screening presented in this study can be extended to future investigations of pre-polymerization systems involving different templates and monomers.

With the increasingly widespread application of CMOS image sensors (CIS) in radiation environments, such as aerospace, their radiation effects have gained attention. This paper investigates single-event transient (SET) caused by the proton direct ionization on CIS, combining both experimental and simulation methods. The proton beam energy used in the experiment is 12 MeV, with a flux up to 3.5 × 108 p/(cm2 s). Due to the periodicity of the proton beam, the CIS output displays a phenomenon of alternating brightness and darkness. When the proton beam flux is low, numerous SET bright spots with different outputs are observed. To comprehensively analyze these experimental phenomena, a typical three-dimensional 4T pinned photodiode model is constructed in TCAD, and relevant SET simulation is carried out. The results indicate that incident position, incident time, and the number of incident protons significantly affect the output of SET-generated bright spots, which are key factors contributing to the different bright spots observed in the experiment.

Activated red mud (RM) has been proved to be a promising base material for the selective catalysis reduction (SCR) of NOx. The inherent low reducibility and acidity limited its low–temperature activity. In this work, molybdenum oxide, tungsten oxide, and cerium oxide were used to reconfigure the redox sites and acid sites of red mud based catalyst. When activated red mud was reconfigured by cerium-tungsten oxide (Ce–W@RM), the NOx conversion kept above 90% at 219–480 °C. The existence of Ce3+/Ce4+ redox electron pairs provided more surface adsorbed oxygen (Oα) and served as a redox cycle. Positive interactions between Ce, W species and Fe oxide in red mud occurred, which led to the formation of unsaturated chemical bond and promoted the activation of adsorbed NH3 species. WO3 and Ce2(WO4)3 (formed by solid–state reaction between Ce and W species) could provide more Brønsted acid sites (W–O modes of WO3, WO or W–O–W modes of Ce2(WO4)3). CeO2 species could provide more Lewis acid sites. The Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L-H) routes and Eley-Rideal (E-R) routes occurred in the low-temperature SCR reaction on the Ce–W@RM surface. NH4+ species on Brønsted acid sites, NH3 species on Lewis acid sites, bidentate nitrate and bridging nitrate species were key active intermediates species.

As the premise and basis of reservoir utilization research, production splitting is of great significance for production dynamic analysis, remaining oil characterization, adjustment of development plan and enhanced oil recovery (EOR). In this paper, through sufficient and detailed investigation, the optimal production splitting method was determined by comparing the current production splitting methods, then its model establishment, solution and implementation were provided, and finally applied to X Oilfield. The investigation and analysis found that the production splitting method based on inverse distance weighted interpolation (PS-IDWI) had the most advantages in the commonly used production splitting methods. The results of production splitting showed that the average relative error of layered cumulative oil production ratio (ARE-LCOPR) of Well X1 obtained by PS-IDWI was 11.72%, which was far lower than that obtained by formation coefficient method (i.e. KH method); the ARE-LCOPR of 120 wells in X Oilfield obtained by PS-IDWI was 15.37%, and its accuracy was nearly 3 times greater than that obtained by KH method; PS-IDWI had high accuracy and applicability. Therefore, it is suggested that PS-IDWI should be preferred for production splitting to improve the accuracy of production splitting, which is conducive to reservoir utilization and remaining oil evaluation, development adjustment and EOR.

Oleanolic acid (OA) is a natural cosmeceutical compound with various skin beneficial activities including inhibitory effect on hyaluronidase but the anti-hyaluronidase activity and mechanisms of action of its synthetic analogues remain unclear. Herein, a series of OA derivatives were synthesised and evaluated for their inhibitory effects on hyaluronidase. Compared to OA, an induction of fluorinated (6c) and chlorinated (6g) indole moieties led to enhanced anti-hyaluronidase activity (IC50 = 80.3 vs. 9.97 and 9.57 µg/mL, respectively). Furthermore, spectroscopic and computational studies revealed that 6c and 6g can bind to hyaluronidase protein and alter its secondary structure leading to reduced enzyme activity. In addition, OA indole derivatives showed feasible skin permeability in a slightly acidic environment (pH = 6.5) and 6c exerted skin protective effect by reducing cellular reactive oxygen species in human skin keratinocytes. Findings from the current study support that OA indole derivatives are potential cosmeceuticals with anti-hyaluronidase activity.

The Chang’e-4 (CE-4) lunar probe, the first soft landing spacecraft on the far side of the Moon, successfully landed in the Von Kármán crater on 3 January 2019. Geological studies of the landing area have been conducted and more intensive studies will be carried out with the in situ measured data. The chronological study of the maria basalt surrounding the CE-4 landing area is significant to the related studies. Currently, the crater size-frequency distribution (CSFD) technique is the most popular method to derive absolute model ages (AMAs) of geological units where no returned sample is available, and it has been widely used in dating maria basalt on the lunar surface. In this research, we first make a mosaic with multi-orbital Chang’e-2 (CE-2) images as a base map. Coupled with the elevation data and FeO content, nine representative areas of basalt units surrounding the CE-4 landing area are outlined and their AMAs are derived. The dating results of the nine basalt units indicate that the basalts erupted from 3.42 to 2.28 Ga ago in this area, a period much longer than derived by previous studies. The derived chronology of the above basalt units establishes a foundation for geological analysis of the returned CE-4 data.

The age of Mars yardangs is significant in studying their development and the evolution of paleoclimate conditions. For planetary surface or landforms, a common method for dating is based on the frequency and size distribution of all the superposed craters after they are formed. However, there is usually a long duration for the yardangs’ formation, and they will alter the superposed craters, making it impossible to give a reliable dating result with the method. An indirect method by analyzing the ages of the superposed layered ejecta was devised in the research. First, the layered ejecta that are superposed on and not altered by the yardangs are identified and mapped. Then, the ages of the layered ejecta are derived according to the crater frequency and size distribution on them. These ages indicate that the yardangs ceased development by these times, and the ages are valuable for studying the evolution of the yardangs. This indirect dating method was applied to the areas of Martian yardangs in the Medusae Fossae Formation (MFF). The ages of the selected six layered ejecta range from ~0.50 Ga to ~1.5 Ga, indicating that the evolution of the corresponding yardangs had been ceased before these times. Analysis of more layered ejecta craters and superposed yardangs implies that yardangs in the MFF have a long history of development and some yardangs are still in active development.
