Summary: In this paper, three Ni/Al2O3 catalysts with different structure were prepared by different methods. The differences between the catalysts had been compared by H2 temperature program reduction (H2‐TPR), X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that synthesis method had significant effect on the combination of Ni particle with carrier. The method of coprecipitation could help to improve the combination of Ni and Al2O3, and the effect was further enhanced after adding polyethylene glycol (PEG). Due to the enhanced interaction between the active metal and the carrier, the NiO could be easily deoxidized and hard to sinter, which could obtain smaller and more dispersed Ni particles. Moreover, the addition of PEG improved the Ni particle size and its dispersion, and promoted the formation of the unique acicular Al2O3. The performance of guaiacol steam catalytic reforming via different catalysts was further analyzed, and the results showed the catalyst obtained by coprecipitation method with PEG exhibited best activity with 73.8% guaiacol conversion and 23.1 wt% H2 yield. We here report a genome-editing strategy to correct spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Rather than directly targeting the pathogenic exonic mutations, our strategy employed Cas9 and guide-sgRNA for the targeted disruption of intronic splicing-regulatory elements. We disrupted intronic splicing silencers (ISSs, including ISS-N1 and ISS + 100) of survival motor neuron (SMN) 2, a key modifier gene of SMA, to enhance exon 7 inclusion and full-length SMN expression in SMA iPSCs. Survival of splicing-corrected iPSC-derived motor neurons was rescued with SMN restoration. Furthermore, co-injection of Cas9 mRNA from Streptococcus pyogenes (SpCas9) or Cas9 from Staphylococcus aureus (SaCas9) alongside their corresponding sgRNAs targeting ISS-N1 into zygotes rescued 56% and 100% of severe SMA transgenic mice (Smn −/−, SMN2 tg/−). The median survival of the resulting mice was extended to >400 days. Background: The traditional posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) technique usually involves implantation of two cages through a bilateral approach and bilateral laminectomy, which requires bilateral transpedicle screw fixation. The procedure itself has several negative impacts. Therefore, a modified PLIF procedure that includes insertion of a unilateral cage through the symptomatic side with supplementary unilateral pedicle screws has been conducted. Materials and methods: Thirty-one patients with unilateral radiculopathy who were diagnosed with spinal stenosis along with degenerative disc disease and a herniated intervertebral disc with lumbar instability underwent a unilateral PLIF using a single cage and unilateral pedicle screws. The postoperative clinical evaluation was based on the visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for back pain and leg pain at multiple time points following the surgery. Radiological assessments were performed with lateral plain radiographs taken preoperation, immediately postoperation, 1, 2, 3 and 6 months postoperation and at the most recent follow-up. Results: The patients all underwent a single-level fusion, and the mean duration for the surgeries was 94 min. The mean haemorrhage volume was 250 ml, and no blood transfusion was required for any of the cases. Twelve months postoperatively, all patients had achieved an Excellent or Good outcome (Excellent in 28 patients and Good in 3). The mean pain score was 6.8 prior to surgery and decreased to 2.3 at the 3-month postoperative examination. No significant complications or neurological deterioration occurred. None of the 31 patients appeared to have any fusion failure. No broken screw, screw loosening, significant cage migration or subsidence was observed in any of the cases. A mean increase in the intervertebral disc height of 3.14 mm from the preoperative measurement to the most recent follow-up examination was determined to be statistically significant (p = 0.05). Conclusions: Conducting PLIF using the diagonal insertion of a single cage with supplemental unilateral transpedicular screw instrumentation enables sufficient decompression and solid interbody fusion to be achieved with minimal invasion of the posterior spinal elements. Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of procedural follow-up through rehabilitation training on enhancing postoperative pulmonary function and quality of life (QOL) in patients who have undergone coronary angiography and stenting., Methods: A total of 160 patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease (CHD) and having undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021, were selected for the study. The random number method was employed to divide them into a control group and an experimental group. The control group (80 patients) received routine post-discharge follow-ups, while the experimental group (80 patients) underwent procedural follow-ups based on rehabilitation training. Pulmonary function and quality of life were assessed at discharge, 6 months post-discharge, and 12 months post-discharge using the Jaeger spirometer and the Assessment Scale of Quality of Life in Patients with CHD., Results: No statistically significant differences in pulmonary function and quality of life were observed between the two groups at the time of discharge (P > .05). However, 6 and 12 months post-discharge, the experimental group exhibited higher values for FEV1, FEV1%, FEV1/FVC, and VO2max compared to the control group. Additionally, total QOL scores, psychological function, and knowledge of CHD prevention and treatment were higher in the experimental group. However, there were no statistically significant differences in physical function and social adaptation ability., Conclusions: Procedural follow-ups based on rehabilitation training have the potential to improve postoperative cardiopulmonary function and quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease, thereby promoting recovery.
