22. Source and health risk apportionment of PM10 based on heavy metals in a city on the edge of the Tengger Desert.

Abstract

Heavy metals in PM10 have a negative impact on human health because of their inhalation exposure risk and toxicity. To explore the contribution of different sources of atmospheric particulate pollution to human health risks, the receptor model and human health risk assessment technique were combined to apportion health risk among different pollution sources. In this study, elements, water-soluble ions, organic carbon (OC), and elemental carbon (EC) in PM10 were measured during the heating period at four sites in Wuwei, a typical agricultural city on the edge of the Tengger Desert with little industrial activity. Source apportionment of PM10 was conducted, and the health risks of ten heavy metals from different sources were assessed. The results showed that Cr had the greatest contribution to the carcinogenic risk (CR), whereas Zn had the highest concentration of heavy metals during the sampling period. The source apportionment results show that the mass concentration of PM10 was primarily from biomass burning, fugitive dust from urban surfaces and cooking. However, according to source apportionment based on the health risk, cooking contributed most to CR, followed by fugitive dust from urban surfaces, and biomass burning contributed the least. Moreover, the cumulative CR for adult females was greater than that for both children and adult males. It is necessary to strengthen the control of pollution source emissions with high health risks. This study can provide a scientific basis for the control of key substances and corresponding pollution sources based on health risks for developing environmental protection policies. Abstract

Coenzyme I (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD+/NADH) and coenzyme II (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, NADP+/NADPH) are involved in various biological processes in mammalian cells. NAD+ is synthesised through the de novo and salvage pathways, whereas coenzyme II cannot be synthesised de novo. NAD+ is a precursor of coenzyme II. Although NAD+ is synthesised in sufficient amounts under normal conditions, shortage in its supply due to over consumption and its decreased synthesis has been observed with increasing age and under certain disease conditions. Several studies have proved that in a wide range of tissues, such as liver, skin, muscle, pancreas, and fat, the level of NAD+ decreases with age. However, in the brain tissue, the level of NADH gradually increases and that of NAD+ decreases in aged people. The ratio of NAD+/NADH indicates the cellular redox state. A decrease in this ratio affects the cellular anaerobic glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation functions, which reduces the ability of cells to produce ATP. Therefore, increasing the exogenous NAD+ supply under certain disease conditions or in elderly people may be beneficial. Precursors of NAD+ have been extensively explored and have been reported to effectively increase NAD+ levels and possess a broad range of functions. In this review article, we discuss the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of NAD+ precursors.

Abstract

The single ball self-balancing mobile robot is a typical multivariable, high-order, nonlinear and static instability system, IMU inertial devices are generally used to obtain attitude parameters of the system. The data errors obtained by the inertial devices will accumulate over time, and the long-term pose estimation is rather unreliable. But for some quick motion over a short period of time, inertial sensors can get very accurate estimates. Monocular cameras are often used as image real-time monitoring sensors by single ball self-balancing mobile robots. The camera's data does not accumulate errors over time, so there is essentially no drift. Therefore, camera pose estimation can effectively correct the inertial sensor error. In a fast-moving environment, the shutter-roller camera cannot capture the image clearly and there may be ghosting or overlapping of two areas too little, resulting in mismatched or unmatched conditions. So that the robot makes a wrong estimate. In this paper, the non-linear optimization method is used to fuse the IMU and monocular attitude data to obtain the optimal pose estimation of the robot. Based on the modeling of robot using Lagrange's equation method, the control of single ball robot is realized by using fuzzy PID algorithm. Experiments show that this scheme can respond quickly to the change of the attitude of the ball self-balancing robot and keep the attitude of the robot relatively stationary, so that the robot can move steadily.

Abstract

The metal-to-metal interactions in weakly coupled mixed-valence E- and Z-diferrocenylethylene complexes of E-1,2-dimethyldiferrocenylethylene, Z-1,2-dimethyldiferrocenylethylene, and 1,2-diferrocenylcyclohexene were synthesized and structurally characterized. The mixed-valence ions of these three complexes belong to class II as evidenced by values of alpha(super 2)(less than 0.3%) and the stability of the mixed-valence species is dominated by the Coulomb repulsion energy of nonresonance contributions.

Abstract

To study metal-to-metal interactions in mixed-valence states of two weakly coupling ferrocenyl groups assembled in E or Z conformation on an ethylenic double bond, E-1,2-dimethyldiferrocenylethylene (1), Z-1,2-dimethyldi-ferrocenylethylene (2), and 1,2-diferrocenylcyclohexene (3) were synthesized and structurally characterized. Crystals of 1 are triclinic, P1, with a = 7.494(9) A, b = 10.801(3) A, c = 11.971(2) A, alpha = 102.17(2) degrees, beta = 106.12(9) degrees, gamma = 90.42(2) degrees, V = 907.8 A3, and Z = 2. Crystals of 2 are monoclinic, P2(1)/c, with a = 13.601(8) A, b = 11.104(4) A, c = 13.732(1) A, beta = 114.26(7) degrees, V = 1890.8(3) A3, and Z = 4. Crystals of 3 are orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1), with a = 5.766(2) A, b = 13.090(1) A, c = 26.695(2) A, V = 2014.9(3) A3, and Z = 4. Intervalence transition spectra (IT) and electrochemical data have been determined and compared with those of diferrocenyl-benzene (para, ortho, and meta). The comproportionation constants in nitrobenzene at 25 degrees C were found to be 490 and 813 for 1 and 3, respectively. That of 2 was not measured because of the fact that 2+ isomerizes rapidly in all solvents tested, yielding nearly a racemic mixture of E and Z conformers. This finding helps to clear the paradoxical phenomenon between experimental results of mixed-valence complexes of E- and Z-1,2-bis(1'-ethyl-1-ferrocenyl)-1,2-dimethylethylene and theories. The stability of the mixed-valence species was discussed in terms of resonance delocalization, Coulomb repulsion energy, inductive effect, magnetic interaction, structural factors, and statistical factor. According to our analysis based on the Hush formalism, the contribution due to Coulomb repulsion energy dominates the overall stability of the mixed-valence state in 1+, 2+, and 3+. Stabilization that arises from resonance delocalization is only minor and contributes less than 4% to the overall stability, even in 3+ where linked Cp rings and the ethylenic plane are coplanar. In calculating the resonance contribution, crystallographic Fe-Fe distances of 7.44 A (1) and 6.68 A (3) were used for 1+, and 3+, respectively.

49. [Sensitivity Analysis of Ozone Formation Using Response Surface Methodology].

Abstract

Identifying the nonlinear relationship between O 3 and its precursors accurately plays an important role for the policy-making of O 3 pollution control. In this study, the response surface methodology based on the box model simulation was used to quickly and efficiently quantify the O 3 response to their precursors with the optimal experimental design. The results showed that CO had a positive contribution to ozone generation, whereas NO x and VOCs had a significant nonlinear relationship with O 3 . When the ratio of φ (VOCs) to[ φ (NO x )-13.75] was greater than 4.17, the ozone formation regime was NO x -limited and became VOCs-limited when the ratio was less than 4.17. Olefin was the key VOCs' component to affect the formation of O 3 ; when the radio of φ (olefin) to[ φ (NO x )-15] was less than 1.10 and the value of the φ (olefin) was less than 35×10 -9 , olefin went far towards generating O 3 . Response surface methodology demonstrated that it can be well used to explore the influence of multiple factors and their interactions on O 3 formation and provides a new approach for efficient O 3 sensitivity analysis.
