The language called Balti belongs to the Sino-Tibetan, specifically the Tibeto-Burman language family. It is understood with variations, across populations in India, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, Burma, and Bhutan, influenced by local cultures and producing various dialects. Considering the diverse cultural, socio-political, religious, and geographical impacts, it is important to step forward unifying the dialects, the basis of common root, lexica, and phonological perspectives, is vital. In the era of globalization and the increasingly frequent developments in AI technology, understanding the diversity and the efforts of dialect unification is important to understanding commonalities and shortening the gaps impacted by unavoidable circumstances. Recent attention-based volumetric segmentation (VS) methods have achieved remarkable performance in the medical domain which focuses on modeling long-range dependencies. However, for voxel-wise prediction tasks, discriminative local features are key components for the performance of the VS models which is missing in attention-based VS methods. Aiming at resolving this issue, we deliberately incorporate the convolutional encoder branch with transformer backbone to extract local and global features in a parallel manner and aggregate them in Cross Feature Mixer Module (CFMM) for better prediction of segmentation mask. Consequently, we observe that the derived model, Y-CT-Net, achieves competitive performance on multiple medical segmentation tasks. For example, on multi-organ segmentation, Y-CT-Net achieves an 82.4% dice score, surpassing well-tuned VS Transformer/CNN-like baselines UNETR/ResNet-3D by 2.9%/1.4%. With the success of Y-CT-Net, we extend this concept with hybrid attention models, that derived Y-CH-Net model, which brings a 3% improvement in terms of HD95 score for same segmentation task. The effectiveness of both models Y-CT-Net and Y-CH-Net verifies our hypothesis and motivates us to initiate the concept of Y-CA-Net, a versatile generic architecture based upon any two encoders and a decoder backbones, to fully exploit the complementary strengths of both convolution and attention mechanisms. Based on experimental results, we argue Y-CA-Net is a key player in achieving superior results for volumetric segmentation.

High-resolution images are preferable in medical imaging domain as they significantly improve the diagnostic capability of the underlying method. In particular, high resolution helps substantially in improving automatic image segmentation. However, most of the existing deep learning-based techniques for medical image segmentation are optimized for input images having small spatial dimensions and perform poorly on high-resolution images. To address this shortcoming, we propose a parallel-in-branch architecture called TransResNet, which incorporates Transformer and CNN in a parallel manner to extract features from multi-resolution images independently. In TransResNet, we introduce Cross Grafting Module (CGM), which generates the grafted features, enriched in both global semantic and low-level spatial details, by combining the feature maps from Transformer and CNN branches through fusion and self-attention mechanism. Moreover, we use these grafted features in the decoding process, increasing the information flow for better prediction of the segmentation mask. Extensive experiments on ten datasets demonstrate that TransResNet achieves either state-of-the-art or competitive results on several segmentation tasks, including skin lesion, retinal vessel, and polyp segmentation. Segmenting ultrasound images is critical for various medical applications, but it offers significant challenges due to ultrasound images' inherent noise and unpredictability. To address these challenges, we proposed EUIS-Net, a CNN network designed to segment ultrasound images efficiently and precisely. The proposed EUIS-Net utilises four encoder-decoder blocks, resulting in a notable decrease in computational complexity while achieving excellent performance. The proposed EUIS-Net integrates both channel and spatial attention mechanisms into the bottleneck to improve feature representation and collect significant contextual information. In addition, EUIS-Net incorporates a region-aware attention module in skip connections, which enhances the ability to concentrate on the region of the injury. To enable thorough information exchange across various network blocks, skip connection aggregation is employed from the network's lowermost to the uppermost block. Comprehensive evaluations are conducted on two publicly available ultrasound image segmentation datasets. The proposed EUIS-Net achieved mean IoU and dice scores of 78. 12\%, 85. 42\% and 84. 73\%, 89. 01\% in the BUSI and DDTI datasets, respectively. The findings of our study showcase the substantial capabilities of EUIS-Net for immediate use in clinical settings and its versatility in various ultrasound imaging tasks.

This study aims to explore the Garcia-Salcedo ghost dark energy and generalized ghost dark energy models in the context of $f(\mathrm{R},\mathrm{T^2})$ theory, where $\mathrm{R}$ is the Ricci scalar and $\mathrm{T^2}$ is the self-contraction of stress-energy tensor. We investigate the non-interacting case only corresponding to flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We reconstruct the corresponding $f(\mathrm{R},\mathrm{T^2})$ gravity models using the considered dark energy models by taking two particular models of this gravity. The stability analysis is performed for all the cases. The behavior of the equation of state parameter is also checked. It is found that some of the reconstructed $f(\mathrm{R},\mathrm{T^2})$ models successfully describe both the phantom and quintessence epochs of the universe, which support the current cosmic accelerated expansion. Gait recognition (GR) is a growing biometric modality used for person identification from a distance through visual cameras. GR provides a secure and reliable alternative to fingerprint and face recognition, as it is harder to distinguish between false and authentic signals. Furthermore, its resistance to spoofing makes GR suitable for all types of environments. With the rise of deep learning, steadily improving strides have been made in GR technology with promising results in various contexts. As video surveillance becomes more prevalent, new obstacles arise, such as ensuring uniform performance evaluation across different protocols, reliable recognition despite shifting lighting conditions, fluctuations in gait patterns, and protecting privacy.This survey aims to give an overview of GR and analyze the environmental elements and complications that could affect it in comparison to other biometric recognition systems. The primary goal is to examine the existing deep learning (DL) techniques employed for human GR that may generate new research opportunities.

Fine-grained visual classification (FGVC) is a challenging computer vision problem, where the task is to automatically recognise objects from subordinate categories. One of its main difficulties is capturing the most discriminative inter-class variances among visually similar classes. Recently, methods with Vision Transformer (ViT) have demonstrated noticeable achievements in FGVC, generally by employing the self-attention mechanism with additional resource-consuming techniques to distinguish potentially discriminative regions while disregarding the rest. However, such approaches may struggle to effectively focus on truly discriminative regions due to only relying on the inherent self-attention mechanism, resulting in the classification token likely aggregating global information from less-important background patches. Moreover, due to the immense lack of the datapoints, classifiers may fail to find the most helpful inter-class distinguishing features, since other unrelated but distinctive background regions may be falsely recognised as being valuable. To this end, we introduce a simple yet effective Salient Mask-Guided Vision Transformer (SM-ViT), where the discriminability of the standard ViT`s attention maps is boosted through salient masking of potentially discriminative foreground regions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that with the standard training procedure our SM-ViT achieves state-of-the-art performance on popular FGVC benchmarks among existing ViT-based approaches while requiring fewer resources and lower input image resolution., Comment: Accepted by VISAPP 2023 (Best Student Paper Award)

Historically, the analysis of stimulus-dependent time-frequency patterns has been the cornerstone of most electroencephalography (EEG) studies. The abnormal oscillations in high-frequency waves associated with psychotic disorders during sensory and cognitive tasks have been studied many times. However, any significant dissimilarity in the resting-state low-frequency bands is yet to be established. Spectral analysis of the alpha and delta band waves shows the effectiveness of stimulus-independent EEG in identifying the abnormal activity patterns of pathological brains. A generalized model incorporating multiple frequency bands should be more efficient in associating potential EEG biomarkers with First-Episode Psychosis (FEP), leading to an accurate diagnosis. We explore multiple machine-learning methods, including random-forest, support vector machine, and Gaussian Process Classifier (GPC), to demonstrate the practicality of resting-state Power Spectral Density (PSD) to distinguish patients of FEP from healthy controls. A comprehensive discussion of our preprocessing methods for PSD analysis and a detailed comparison of different models are included in this paper. In the last two decades, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has emerged as one of the most effective technologies in clinical research of the human brain. fMRI allows researchers to study healthy and pathological brains while they perform various neuropsychological functions. Beyond task-related activations, the human brain has some intrinsic activity at a task-negative (resting) state that surprisingly consumes a lot of energy to support communication among neurons. Recent neuroimaging research has also seen an increase in modeling and analyzing brain activity in terms of a graph or network. Since graph models facilitate a systems-theoretic explanation of the brain, they have become increasingly relevant with advances in network science and the popularization of complex systems theory. The purpose of this study is to look into the abnormalities in resting brain functions in adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The primary goal is to investigate resting-state functional connectivity (FC), which can be construed as a significant temporal coincidence in blood-oxygen-level dependent (BOLD) signals between functionally related brain regions in the absence of any stimulus or task. When compared to healthy controls, ADHD patients have lower average connectivity in the Supramarginal Gyrus and Superior Parietal Lobule, but higher connectivity in the Lateral Occipital Cortex and Inferior Temporal Gyrus.
