Background: Mobile phones have become a widely accepted learning mode due to the impact of COVID-19. This study explores the mobile technology acceptance, among nursing students at selected educational institutions in South India. Materials and Methods: Quantitative cross-sectional descriptive design. First-year 176 B.Sc. nursing students who underwent blended learning were selected by the purposive sampling method. The tool "Technology Acceptance Model" was used to collect responses. Bivariate analysis was used to determine the relationship between the demographic and study-related variables with the mobile technology acceptance using SPSS version 25.0. Results: The majority 73.9% of the students belonged to the age group of 18-19 years, females 76.7% and, 98.9% were unmarried. Among the constructs of TAM, a mean (SD) value of 22.08 (2.26) was found for material (mobile device audio/video) characteristics the mean (SD) value was 22.08 (2.26), attitude about use 17.58 (1.95), behavioral intention 17.46 (1.78) and system characteristics 17.21 (2.27). The mobile technology acceptance revealed that 126 (71.6%) strongly agreed, 49 (27.8%) agreed, and 1 (0.6%) was neutral with a mean (SD) of 105.19 (8.68), respectively. A positive correlation was found between the system characteristics, material characteristics, perceived ease to use, perceived usefulness, attitude about the use, behavioral intention with a P value <0.001. There was a statistically significant association between Mobile technology acceptance and time spent by the students for independent studies shown the Chi-square value of 12.7, with P value <0.05. Conclusion: Nursing students had a positive acceptance and behavior toward smartphone use.

The global spread of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) has been fostered by the lack of preemptive screening of patients in healthcare facilities that could prevent patient-to-patient transmission. To screen patients admitted to Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) for CRE carriage to take appropriate infection control measures. This prospective surveillance study was conducted in the MICU of a tertiary healthcare hospital between September to December 2022. Patients more than 18 years of age admitted to the MICU were included in the study. Patients transferred from different units within the hospital to MICU were excluded. Immediately after admission, two rectal swabs were collected after obtaining consent from the patients. These patients were selected based on the questionnaire framed from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) CRE tool kit. The samples were further analyzed and the antimicrobial susceptibility test was performed. The present study included 91 study subjects of which 53% were males. Of selected participants, 63.7% did not have any specified medical intervention or device placed and 78% had not used antibiotics previously. Of the tested isolates, Of the tested isolates, 12 (13.2%) were observed to be CRE colonized. These isolates were found to be resistant to both imipenem and meropenem. An association was reported between CRE and device placement (p = 0.000) as well as between CRE and previous use of antibiotics (p = 0.000). Current use of antibiotics (p = 0.6381) and gender (p = 0.6066) did not show any association with CRE colonisation. The study concludes that the presence of CRE is an existing danger for patients in ICUs and that there is a possible association between CRE and device placement as well as previous use of antibiotics which can be further studied.

Myofunctional appliances encompass a diverse range of intraoral devices that rely on the intrinsic forces of the orofacial musculature for their functionality. These appliances are typically designed to be removable and exhibit a passive mechanism of action. Caries and demineralisation are well known adverse side effects of myofunctional orthodontic appliances, with the most frequent reports relating to fixed appliance treatment. Hereby, the authors present a case report of a 12-year-old male patient with a slight neuromotor defect who developed significant caries and demineralisation of the permanent mandibular anteriors due to the consumption of large quantities of carbonated drinks and acidic fruits while wearing a twin block appliance for eight months and failing to return for regular orthodontic follow-ups. The patient was provided with strategies for oral health training and diet modification. Fluoride varnish was applied to treat the caries and pain caused by hypersensitivity. Additionally, at-home application of GC Tooth Mousse Plus, which is rich in Casein Phosphopeptide-Amorphous Calcium Phosphate Fluoride (CCP-ACPF), was utilised for remineralisation and dentinal tubule occlusion. The mandibular anteriors were restored with composite resin using an ultra-conservative 3D guided technique, alongside preventive care during the fluoride varnish application. The present case report emphasises the risk of decalcification of teeth during orthodontic treatment and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

Introduction: Palatable foods have potent reinforcing effects that are mediated, partly, by an abrupt augmentation of dopaminergic neurotransmitters in the brain’s reward pathways. Food addiction to highly palatable foods contributes to the increasing prevalence of obesity. Aim: To evaluate the effect of food addiction on neurobehavioural parameters and the Behavioral Satiety Sequence (BSS) during restriction to a highly palatable diet in a food addiction rat model. Materials and Methods: The experimental study was conducted in the Pharmacology Department at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India from April 2018 to January 2019. The study included six animals out of 28 female Sprague Dawley rats aged approximately 10 weeks and weighing 180-220 g were allocated to the control group and were fed a Standard Chow diet (SC) throughout the study. Twenty-two animals (induction group) were exposed to free choice between SC and a highly palatable Cafeteria Diet (CD), a mix of equal amounts of Bounty®, Snickers®, Mars®, and Milka® chocolate made into homogenous food pellets. After six weeks, 12 animals were randomly selected to have restricted access to the CD diet with free access to SC, while the rest continued to receive a free choice between the two diets for two weeks. Central Nervous System (CNS) parameters, BSS, 24-hour food intake, and body weight were recorded. Results: A significant decrease of 25.4 seconds (18.27%) in the mean time the CD restricted group stayed on the rotarod (113.6±8.31) seconds. and a reduced locomotor activity score of 46.92 (20.94%) in the CD access group in the actophotometer (177.08±5.29) compared to SC was noted. In the open field test, the CD restricted group demonstrated a 47.33% increase in grooming (12.0±1.11) and a 30% lower number of central squares crossed (2.80±0.57). In the Elevated Plus Maze (EPM), the time spent in the open arm (15.00±8.10) was statistically lower (p=0.045). No statistically significant difference between groups was recorded in the forced swim or tail suspension tests. Disruption of the BSS in varying dimensions was apparent in both CD groups. Conclusion: The study has shown that anxiety and altered feeding behaviour were evident in the CD restricted rats in the food addiction model.

Irrespective of medical technology improvements, cancer ranks among the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Although numerous cures and treatments exist, creating alternative cancer therapies with fewer adverse side effects is vital. Since ancient times, plant bioactive compounds have already been used as a remedy to heal cancer. These plant bioactive compounds and their anticancer activity can also deregulate the microRNAs (miRNAs) in the cancerous cells. Therefore, the deregulation of miRNAs in cancer cells by plant bioactive compounds and the usage of the related miRNA could be a promising approach for cancer cure, mainly to prevent cancer and overcome chemotherapeutic side effect problems. Hence, this review highlights the function of plant bioactive compounds as an anticancer agent through the underlying mechanism that alters the miRNA expression in cancer cells, ultimately leading to apoptosis. Moreover, this review provides insight into using plant bioactive compounds -driven miRNAs as an anticancer agent to develop miRNA-based cancer gene therapy. They can be the potential resource for gene therapy and novel strategies targeting cancer therapeutics.

Abstract Supersymmetric elementary string states in the compactified heterotic string theory are described by small black holes that have zero area event horizon. In this paper we compute the supersymmetric index of such elementary string states using gravitational path integral. The dominant contribution to the path integral comes from an Euclidean rotating black hole solution of the supergravity theory with a finite area event horizon, but the logarithm of the index, computed from the saddle point, vanishes. Nevertheless we show that the solution is singular on certain subspaces of the horizon where higher derivative corrections can be important, and once the higher derivative corrections are taken into account the solution could yield a finite result for the logarithm of the index whose form agrees with the microscopic results up to an overall numerical constant. While the numerical constant is not determined in our analysis, we show that it is independent of the details of the compactification and even the number of non-compact dimensions, in agreement with the microscopic results.

The main finding of this work focuses on the numerical analysis of magnetized Casson hybrid nanofluid flow via porous moving wedge with surface-catalyzed reactions. Thermal radiation and chemical reactions are also investigated as heat and mass transport mechanisms. Feature of hybrid nanofluid, which contains nanoparticles, such as nickel zinc ferrite (NiZnFe2O4) and manganese zinc ferrite (MnZnFe2O4) nanoparticles with engine oil as a working fluid, is discussed. These hybrid nanofluids (NiZnFe2O4 + MnZnFe2O4/C2H18) offer significant improvements in thermal conductivity, heat transfer efficiency, and magnetic control, making them ideal for automotive, industrial, and magnetic fluid applications. The flow dynamics of the system have been modeled using a system of non-linear PDEs, which are transformed into dimensionless ODEs using appropriate similarity conversions. The transformed ODEs are solved using the fourth- and fifth-order Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method along with the shooting technique. Results indicate that increased surface-catalyzed parameters in porous media accelerate heterogeneous catalysis, leading to more vigorous reactions and shorter reaction times. Furthermore, the incorporation of NiZnFe2O4 and MnZnFe2O4 nps in the base fluid substantially improves both the velocity and energy transmission rate. Engine oil containing ferrite nanoparticles on porous moving wedge could improve engine performance and efficiency in automotive cooling systems and lubrication effectiveness.

This communication describes a highly recyclable, ecologically friendly, ionic liquid catalyst supported by cobalt that is active in the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction at 70 ​°C. To be more precise, the procedure is initiated with a special form of the ecologically safe solvent 3-(2-aminoethyl)-1-methyl-1H-imidazole-3-ium bromide [Aemim]Br. A few benefits of the coupling process include its simplicity of use, broad range of substrate compatibility with high yields, environmental friendliness, high reaction rate, low catalyst loading (0.001 ​mol%), and recyclability (up to 7 cycles).

Viral hepatitis is a common cause of acute liver injury that can lead to chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Viral hepatitis shares similarities with kamalai in Siddha medicine and is managed in accordance with Siddha treatment. Present case is of a 14-year-old male patient who presented with symptoms of fever, fatigue, malaise, and jaundice. Laboratory investigations, abdominal ultrasound features, and clinical findings indicated positive viral hepatitis. The patient was started on Siddha management to suppress Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) replication and prevent progression to chronic hepatitis B infection. The patient’s symptoms gradually improved over the next few weeks, and follow-up blood tests showed a significant reduction in the values of elevated liver enzymes, indicating a good response to Siddha medicine treatment. The unique aspect of this case study was that it demonstrates a successful management of viral hepatitis B infection with the Siddha system of medicine.

The research in this article is carried out to study incompressible and unsteady free convective flow on a semi-infinite isothermal vertical plate in a doubly stratified non-Darcian porous media with variable mass diffusivity and variable thermal conductivity. The governing non-linear partial differential equations of flow were calculated by applying an implicit finite difference scheme of Crank-Nicolson type. Various parametric impacts on concentration profiles, temperature, velocity, as well Sherwood number, Nusselt number and skin friction, were examined and presented in graphs. It is examined that there exists a significant temperature decrease for high Darcy number in stratified fluids. Also, it is detected that the presence of stratification produces a considerable drop in skin friction while increases the mass and heat transfer rate. Comparison of current outcomes well agreed with the available solutions.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing drastically and affecting the individuals globally, especially in the low- and middle-income countries like India. The poor glycaemic control results in micro-vascular and macro-vascular complications, leading to dysfunction of multiple organs. This study aimed to evaluate the association between the risk factors and microalbuminuria levels among patients with type 2 DM on oral hypoglycaemic agents. Materials and Methods: Hundred type 2 DM patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected by convenient random sampling. Demographic details, biochemical markers, and anti-diabetic medication details were collected. The findings were analyzed statistically using Chi-square test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS software 21.0. Results: Among the different combination therapies, 59% were commonly using metformin and teneligliptin. There was a significant association noted between microalbuminuria and risk factors like age, duration of disease, body mass index (BMI) (25.5 ± 2.9), fasting blood sugar (151 ± 53.2 mg/dL), post prandial blood sugar (227.01 ± 70.9 mg/dL), blood urea (24.42 ± 9.3 mg/dL), and serum creatinine (1.5 ± 0.2 mg/dL) (P < 0.001). One-way ANOVA showed statistical significance between microalbuminuria and the different treatment groups (P < 0.0001). Conclusion: Microalbuminuria was associated with age, duration of diabetes, glycaemic control, and BMI. In contrast, there was no significant difference noted between the genders and microalbuminuria. Microalbuminuria is an early indication of nephropathy in diabetes patients. The early identification of the risk factors is important, and it is always recommended to screen for microalbuminuria in all the diabetic patients for early detection and prevention of diabetic nephropathy and their associated complications.

Introduction: The prevalence of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), one of the common endocrine disorders among women of reproductive age, varies from 2.2% to 26% globally. The treatment for PCOS aims to reduce Body Mass Index (BMI), improve underlying hormonal disturbances, prevent future reproductive and metabolic complications, and enhance the quality of life. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of metformin and Myoinositol (MI) on the metabolic, hormonal, and clinical profiles in PCOS. Materials and Methods: An open-label randomised clinical trial was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, Chengelpet, Tamil Nadu, India, from January 2019 to May 2020. The study included 80 women with PCOS who were randomly assigned to two groups. One group received metformin 1500 mg/day (in three divided doses), while the other group received MI 1 gram/day for three months. At the end of the 12-week therapy, the participants were evaluated for changes in clinical, metabolic, and hormonal profiles. The data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, proportion, mean, and standard deviation were used for quantitative data. Results: Both the metformin and MI-treated groups showed a significant reduction in BMI, fasting blood glucose, and fasting insulin. Both drugs were equally effective in changing the hormonal profile. There was a significant improvement in lipid parameters in both groups, with High-density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels being more significantly raised in the metformin group. We first report a novel solvent, base free synthesis of carbonyl compound catalyst by FeCl3/TEMPO at 40 °C with high-rate. In this article, we examine the mechanism of this catalytic system and compare the reactivity of aromatic alcohols. Furthermore, the efficacy of 3-(2-aminoethyl)-1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide [Aemim]Br could be maintained after seven recycling cycles. High catalyst productivity and reaction rate (5.53 to 22.50) have been accomplished with the use of an enhanced procedure.

Abstract 2D materials are regarded as promising electrocatalysts for water splitting because of their advances in providing ample active sites and improving electrochemical reaction kinetics. 2D MoSe2 has a greater intrinsic electrical conductivity and lower Gibbs free energy for reactant adsorption. However, there is still room for improvement in the electrocatalytic performance of MoSe2 for high‐performance electrochemical water splitting devices. Herein, the in situ preparation of heterostructure made of covalently bonded MoSe2 and rGO is reported. The obtained electrocatalyst contains the aggregated 3D structured MoSe2 over rGO, which is covalently bonded together with more edge sites. The active edge sites of MoSe2/rGO are dynamically involved in the electrocatalytic activity while facilitating electron transfer. Hence, the MoSe2/rGO heterostructure requires a low cell voltage of 1.64 V to reach 100 mA cm−2 in water splitting with high reaction kinetics. The aggregated MoSe2 over rGO with more edge sites exposed by the 3D structure of MoSe2 and the interfacial covalent bond in between them provides a favorable electronic structure for the HER and OER with low overpotentials and high current densities and enhances the stability of the electrocatalyst. This work presents an attractive and cost‐effective electrocatalyst suitable for industrial‐scale hydrogen fuel production.

This article deals about an interval-valued neutrosophic Ẑ-algebra is a mathematical framework which incorporates the concepts of interval-valued neutrosophic sets, Ẑ-algebra and algebraic operations. This innovative algebraic structure addresses the challenges posed by uncertain, imprecise, and indeterminate information in various fields. In this work, we presented the fundamentals of Ẑ-algebra and int_val neutrosophic sets, as well as several of their attributes such as homomorphism and cartesian product.

Background: The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) ranges from 10% to 60% in an organisation. This study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence pattern of WRMSDs and the relation of musculoskeletal (MSK) pain/discomfort complaints with posture amongst hospital workers. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study done amongst hospital housekeeping workers in a tertiary care hospital. Physical parameters, assessment of musculoskeletal pain by the Nordic MSK Questionnaire and Cornell MSK Questionnaire and analysis of posture using Ovako Working Posture Assessment System (OWAS) which identifies posture of back, arms, legs and weight of the load handled during work. Results: The prevalence of WRMSDs in the past 12 months was 198 (87.2%) and in the past 7 days was 155 (63.8%). Maximum MSK pain was reported in knee (136, 59.9%). Multiple sites of pain (3 or more) were also seen in 146 (64.3%) workers. The most common posture associated with pain was walking (100%). Pain did not prevent from doing the work and slightly interfered with their ability. Number of years of work experience had a significant relation to the pain score. Conclusion: Although the majority of the study population fell in the OWAS-second category which has no immediate concern at present, may progress to the third and fourth categories if proper posture correction is not done. If the preventive MSK rehabilitation measures are taken at the earliest, it can help prevent the progression to cumulative trauma disorders.
