12. WOMEN'S SATISFACTION WITH HOSPITAL BASED INTRAPARTUM CARE IN A MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WESTERN NEPAL.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION Cross-sectional analytical study was conducted to find women's satisfaction with hospital based intrapartum care in a medical college of western Nepal among 332 postpartum inpatient women delivered in Lumbini Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Pravas, Palpa, who were selected by using purposive sampling technique. A pretested interview schedule was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study findings revealed that about half of the respondents (50.9%) were satisfied with hospital based intrapartum care. The level of satisfaction was significantly associated with gravida (p=0.008), type of labor onset (p=0.007) and episiotomy status (p<0.001). RESULTS The study findings conclude that women attending teaching hospital for delivery tend to be somewhat satisfied with hospital based intra-partum care. Adequate counseling, reassurance and supportive care of women during intrapartum period might increase their satisfaction with intrapartum care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Previous studies show that many factors are significantly associated with development and maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF), however, little is known about the prognosis of the patients who received individually-optimized education to prevent AF recurrence after cardioversion. Method: We chose 37 cases prepared for cardioversion in 142 consecutive patients receiving trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) from December 2008 to June 2010. Indication of cardioversion was (1) patient requiring cardioversion because of symptomatic and/or drug refractory AF and (2) patient who wish to restore the heart rhythm to sinus rhythm (SR) by cardioversion. 11 patients (29.7%) were excluded from this study because of intracardiac thrombi. 26 patients were divided into 4 groups by duration of AF: Group 1; within 1 week (2 patients), Group 2
