5. Simplified REGINN-IT method in Banach spaces for nonlinear ill-posed operator equations.

Abstract

In 2021, Z. Fu, Y. Chen and B. Han introduced an inexact Newton regularization (REGINN-IT) using an idea involving the non-stationary iterated Tikhonov regularization scheme for solving nonlinear ill-posed operator equations. In this paper, we suggest a simplified version of the REGINN-IT scheme by using the Bregman distance, duality mapping and a suitable parameter choice strategy to produce an approximate solution. The method is comprised of inner and outer iteration steps. The outer iterates are stopped by a Morozov-type stopping rule, while the inner iterate is executed by making use of the non-stationary iterated Tikhonov scheme. We have studied convergence of the proposed method under some standard assumptions and utilizing tools from convex analysis. The novelty of the method is that it requires computation of the Fréchet derivative only at an initial guess of an exact solution and hence can be identified as more efficient compared to the method given by Z. Fu, Y. Chen and B. Han. Further, in the last section of the paper, we discuss test examples to inspect the proficiency of the method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

15. Saroglitazar improves nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic health in liver transplant recipients

Abstract

NAFLD is common after liver transplantation (LT) and is associated with an increased metabolic burden. Currently, there is a paucity of investigations into the treatment of post-LT NAFLD. In the present study, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of saroglitazar, a novel dual peroxisome proliferator-associated receptor & alpha;/& gamma; agonist, on the treatment of post-LT NAFLD and metabolic burden. This is a phase 2A, single-center, open-label, single-arm study in which patients with post-LT NAFLD received saroglitazar magnesium 4 mg daily for 24 weeks. NAFLD was defined by a controlled attenuation parameter & GE;264 dB/m. The primary endpoint was the reduction in liver fat as measured by MRI proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF). Secondary MRI-based metabolic endpoints included visceral adipose tissue, abdominal subcutaneous adipose tissue volumes, muscle fat infiltration, and fat-free muscle volume. Saroglitazar treatment led to a reduction in MRI-PDFF from 10.3 & PLUSMN;10.5% at baseline to 8.1 & PLUSMN;7.6%. A relative 30% reduction from baseline MRI-PDFF value was noted in 47% of all patients and 63% of patients with baseline MRI-PDFF >5%. Reduction in serum alkaline phosphatase was an independent predictor of MRI-PDFF response. Saroglitazar did not decrease fat-free muscle volume nor increase muscle fat infiltration, but did lead to a mild increase in visceral adipose tissue and abdominal subcutaneous adipose tissue. The study drug was well tolerated and a mild nonsignificant increase in serum creatinine was noted. Saroglitazar did not affect the weight. The study provides preliminary data demonstrating the safety and metabolic benefits of saroglitazar in LT recipients and underscores the importance of future studies to establish its efficacy after LT., Funding Agencies|Zydus Therapeutics Inc.

Abstract

Language is the fundamental trait of human beings through which they communicate with each other. Every human language has four primary skills of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Listening and reading are considered receptive skills, whereas speaking and writing are regarded as productive skills. An individual has to get mastery over all four skills to get command on any language. Textbooks are significant sources to educate students in all subjects. Similarly, in teaching and learning a non-native language, the use of textbooks is indispensable. To enable students’ competency in all four skills, ELT teachers take the help of textbooks in the classrooms. This study aims to find out the presentation of language skills in the textbooks that are used to teach the English language to HSC I and II in Balochistan, Pakistan. For this study, textbooks were analyzed for language skills by using a checklist prepared by Abdul (2013). It was intended to find out the skills that are focused on and the skills that are neglected in the textbooks. The study concluded that the textbook content is predominantly for reading and writing skills. Listening is ignored; however, some of the activities and exercises trigger the speaking skills of the students. It is, therefore recommended that the textbook content be modified and a balanced proportion of the language skills should be included to provide plenty of opportunities to practice all four skills in the classroom under teachers’ guidance.

Abstract

In 2011, Jin Qinian has proposed a Levenberg–Marquardt method, by making use of duality mapping and the Bregman distance, to get an approximate solution of a nonlinear ill-posed operator equation in Banach space using an a posteriori parameter choice strategy and Morozov-type stopping rule. The method considered by Jin Qinian was an extension of the method proposed by M. Hanke in 1997 for the Hilbert space case. In this paper, we suggest a modified variant of the method, namely, the simplified Levenberg–Marquardt scheme in Banach spaces. The advantage of the method considered in the paper is that, it is also applicable for the operator equation with non-smooth operator. We establish convergence of the method under a modified a posteriori parameter choice strategy which is more feasible than the one considered by Jin Qinian (2011). Abstract

In 2010, Qinian Jin considered a regularized Levenberg–Marquardt method in Hilbert spaces for getting stable approximate solution for nonlinear ill-posed operator equation F ⁢ (x) = y , where F : D ⁢ (F) ⊂ X → Y is a nonlinear operator between Hilbert spaces X and Y and obtained rate of convergence results under an appropriate source condition. In this paper, we propose a simplified Levenberg–Marquardt method in Hilbert spaces for solving nonlinear ill-posed equations in which sequence of iteration { x n δ } is defined as x n + 1 δ = x n δ - ( α n ⁢ I + F ′ ⁢ (x 0) * ⁢ F ′ ⁢ (x 0) ) - 1 ⁢ F ′ ⁢ (x 0) * ⁢ (F ⁢ (x n δ) - y δ) . Here { α n } is a decreasing sequence of nonnegative numbers which converges to zero, F ′ ⁢ (x 0) denotes the Fréchet derivative of F at an initial guess x 0 ∈ D ⁢ (F) for the exact solution x † and (F ′ ⁢ (x 0)) * denote the adjoint of F ′ ⁢ (x 0) . In our proposed method, we need to calculate Fréchet derivative of F only at an initial guess x 0 . Hence, it is more economic to use in numerical computations than the Levenberg–Marquardt method used in the literature. We have proved convergence of the method under Morozov-type stopping rule using a general tangential cone condition. Abstract

Amphibians are amongst most neglected animals in Pakistan. Their ecology and conservation status has been abandoned so far, hence amphibians are found dealing with numerous threats, meanwhile, taxonomic status of amphibians in Pakistan is of great concern due to morphological variation. Sindh (province of Pakistan) is one of the most important abodes of amphibians where wetlands and agricultural fields offer them abundance of food and shelter. For the study of ignored amphibian fauna, we conducted a comprehensive survey to elucidate the distribution of different amphibian species in different habitats. The physical characteristics of ecology such as types of vegetation and predators were observed, while water samples were collected from all aquatic habitats for analysis of parameters i.e. pH, EC, TDS, T. Hard. T. Alk, Cl-, SO42-, PO43-, NO2- NO3-, and CO2 by using analytical instruments and standard procedures. All the habitats were highly contaminated and unfavorable especially for spawns and larvae and their conservation status was found entirely deteriorated. It was determined that species exhibited minor morphological variation devoid of divergence form taxonomic grade. it was obvious that the diversity of amphibian fauna was very poor, however systematic of each species was arranged methodically.
