3. Numerical optimization of drying of white button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) employing microwave and fluidized bed drying for preparing value added product

Abstract

The microwave-assisted fluidized bed two-stage novel, energy-efficient drying method was used for Agaricus bisporus drying which can be further utilised for mushroom protein powder, and soup. The effect of microwave heating time (MHT), fluidized bed drying temperature (FBDT), and slice thickness (ST) on rehydration ratio, total colour difference (TCD), and overall acceptability of white button mushroom (WBM) powder was investigated. The optimized values, i.e., 1 min (MHT), 60 °C (FBDT), and 2 mm (ST), were obtained during optimization using design expert software (ver. 13.0.1). The result revealed that MHT, FBDT, and ST affect the responses significantly. TCD was found to be increased while overall acceptability decreased as MHT and FBDT increased. Rehydration is an important criterion for using dry products in curry or soup since they may absorb water. The optimized WBM (O-WBM) powder was used to prepare the soup mix. Out of three formulations (F1, F2, and F3), F3 had a 9 % O-WBM powder score with a maximum mean value for colour, taste, flavor, consistency, and overall acceptability, followed by F2 with a 7 % O-WBM powder. The soup’s composition includes functional ingredients such as garlic, shallots, and milk powder, making it healthier.

Abstract

We first briefly report on the status and recent achievements of the ELPA-AEO (Eigenvalue Solvers for Petaflop Applications - Algorithmic Extensions and Optimizations) and ESSEX II (Equipping Sparse Solvers for Exascale) projects. In both collaboratory efforts, scientists from the application areas, mathematicians, and computer scientists work together to develop and make available efficient highly parallel methods for the solution of eigenvalue problems. Then we focus on a topic addressed in both projects, the use of mixed precision computations to enhance efficiency. We give a more detailed description of our approaches for benefiting from either lower or higher precision in three selected contexts and of the results thus obtained.

Abstract

There are flow research centers on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) emission of auxiliary liquid in an extended region. The prevailing model is constrained by attractions/infusion and gooey release. The administering model is based on the Koo–Kleinstreuer–Li nanofluid model in the existence of entropy generation. Final requirements of this model are addressed by implementing the shooting strategy, which incorporates a fourth approach for the Runge–Kutta strategy. Into the bargain, the last adds (in standard ordinary differential equations (ODE) divisions) are obtained from the measurable controls partial differential equations, which were represented toward the start of the overseeing model. The varieties for all boundaries are exhibited through graphical arrangements. It is noticed that expanding the substantial volume portion diminishes speed but builds nuclear power dispersion. Likewise, the classification of mathematical qualities on divider heat move rate and skin contact is introduced. Both Reynolds and Brinkman numbers improve the entropy rate of the thermal system resulting in the growth effects of inertial forces and the surface heat dissipation, respectively.

Abstract

The mathematical modeling of hybrid nanofluid flow and heat transfer with entropy generation toward parabolic trough surface collector (PTSC) inside the solar-powered ship (SPS) is performed. The mathematical model used non-Newtonian Oldroyd-B model amidst a constant inclined magnetic field influence is being considered. The mathematical model is then reduced by adopting appropriate similarity transformation into a higher-order nonlinear differential equations system. The reduced model is computed using the well-known technique called the Keller Box scheme. Physical parameters effectiveness, for instance, thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, hybrid nanoparticles, and Joule heating, is displayed in graphs. The silver-ethylene glycol (Ag-EG) characteristic performance outperformed the silver-magnetite-ethylene glycol (Ag-Fe3O4/EG). The maximum efficiency of Ag-EG is about 26.3%, while the minimum is at least 5.6%.
