Abstract

Background: Radioresistance remains a significant obstacle in the treatment of prostate cancer (PCa). The mechanisms underlying the radioresistance in PCa remained to be further investigated. Methods: GSE53902 dataset was used in this study to identify radioresistance-related mRNAs. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed based on STRING analysis. DAVID system was used to predict the potential roles of radioresistance-related mRNAs. Results: We screened and re-annotated the GSE53902 dataset to identify radioresistance-related mRNAs. A total of 445 up-regulated and 1036 down-regulated mRNAs were identified in radioresistance PCa cells. Three key PPI networks consisting of 81 proteins were further constructed in PCa. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that these genes were involved in regulating MAP kinase activity, response to hypoxia, regulation of the apoptotic process, mitotic nuclear division, and regulation of mRNA stability. Moreover, we observed that radioresistance-related mRNAs, such as PRC1, RAD54L, PIK3R3, ASB2, FBXO32, LPAR1, RNF14, and UBA7, were dysregulated and correlated to the survival time in PCa. Conclusion: We thought this study would be useful to understand the mechanisms underlying radioresistance of PCa and identify novel prognostic markers for PCa.

Abstract

People with low vision find it difficult to socialize publicly due to lack of face recognition ability. Robust assistive solutions are available but either those are too heavy on the pocket or are not wearable. In this paper, we have proposed a low cost lightweight wearable device, based on raspberry pi 3 that uses enhanced machine learning algorithms. The device has two user-selectable operation modes; recognition mode and new entry or training mode. In recognition mode, a combination of Haar cascade and Hog features are used for face detection and recognition. The accuracy of recognition system is further improved by capturing a burst of five images for each subject. Face detection and recognition algorithms are next applied to each frame and the name with maximum votes is announced on the earphones. In case of unrecognized faces, system announces “Unknown”. For the training mode, a web based user interface has been proposed that can help the user for enrolling and updating entries, into the dataset. The system has been tested in real time environment. Results show the accuracy of the proposed methodology.

Abstract

Wheat is one of the earliest cultivated plants and second major cereal crop of the world that contains human food essentials. Due to climatic variations, crop is exposed to severe environmental conditions. Rising global temperature is expected to result in severe climate shifts in future. High temperature exerts negative effects on wheat phenology and grain production. The selection of heat-tolerant wheat germplasm is the best stress management strategy. This research study presents the fieldbased evaluation of 100 wheat genotypes under both normal and heat stress conditions. The data of twelve phenotypic traits were recorded under control and heat stress trials. There were diverse variations observed among genotypes for morphological characters. The high yielding selected wheat lines 68.111-56, CHEN-84, CHEN-74, IWA8611400-65, CHEN-95, CHEN-96, CHEN-86, CHEN-80, 68.111-60 and CHEN-92 were subjected to DNA genotyped with Simple Sequence Repeat marker(SSR) viz; WMC 18, CFA2129, WMC 367, CFD 48, WMC44 and WMC 798. The genetic diversity ranged from 0 to 0.25 with an average value of 0.06. Unweighted pair group of arithmetic means cluster analysis grouped these lines into clusters. Most of the genetic diversity was observed for CHEN-74 and CHEN-96 in cluster. The study has identified genetically diverse, heat tolerant and high yielding wheat genotypes with possible exploitation in development of climate-smart wheat varieties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
