Abstract

In this paper we have introduced a generalized version of alpha beta skew normal distribution in the same line of Sharafi et al. (2017) and investigated some of its basic properties. The extensions of the proposed distribution have also been studied. The appropriateness of the proposed distribution has been tested by comparing the values of Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) with the values of some other known related distributions for better model selection. Likelihood ratio test has been used for discriminating between nested models.

Abstract

In this study by considering Balakrishnan mechanism a new form of alpha skew distribution is proposed and properties are investigated. The suitability of the proposed distribution has tested at the end with appropriate data fitting experiment and then comparing the values of Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) with the values of some other related distributions. Likelihood ratio test is carried out for nested models, that is, for Laplace and the proposed distributions. Abstract

In this paper, an alpha-beta-skew-logistic distribution is proposed following the same methodology as those of alpha-beta-skew-normal of Shafiei et al. (2016) and investigated some of its related distributional properties. Finally, the validity of our proposed distribution has tested by considering three real life applications and comparing the values of Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) with the values of some other related distributions. Abstract

In this paper, we introduced a new family of distributions by generalizing existing multimodal skew-normal distribution. Statistical properties of the new family of distributions are studied in detail. In particular, explicit expressions of the density and distribution function, moments, skewness, kurtosis and the moments generating function are derived. Furthermore, estimation of the parameters using the maximum likelihood method of the new family of distributions is considered. Finally, the paper ends with an illustration of real-life data sets and then comparing the value of Akaike Information Criterion and Bayesian information criterion of the new distribution with some other known distributions. Abstract

In this paper, an attempt has been made to study the performance of Cricket Players using Factor Analysis technique. For this , the dataset of 85 batsmen, 85 bowlers; and 95 batsmen, 95 bowlers have been considered from IPL9, 2016 (20 overs) and ICC World Cup, 2015 (50 overs) respectively, and the findings of this study reveals that batting capability dominates over bowling capability which is in conformity with an earlier study on same kind of game.
