BackgroundTuberculosis regimens that are shorter and simpler than the current 6-month daily regimen are needed.MethodsWe randomly assigned patients with newly diagnosed, smear-positive, drug-sensitive tuberculosis to one of three regimens: a control regimen that included 2 months of ethambutol, isoniazid, rifampicin, and pyrazinamide administered daily followed by 4 months of daily isoniazid and rifampicin; a 4-month regimen in which the isoniazid in the control regimen was replaced by moxifloxacin administered daily for 2 months followed by moxifloxacin and 900 mg of rifapentine administered twice weekly for 2 months; or a 6-month regimen in which isoniazid was replaced by daily moxifloxacin for 2 months followed by one weekly dose of both moxifloxacin and 1200 mg of rifapentine for 4 months. Sputum specimens were examined on microscopy and after culture at regular intervals. The primary end point was a composite treatment failure and relapse, with noninferiority based on a margin of 6 percentage points and 90% confidence intervals.ResultsWe enrolled a total of 827 patients from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia; 28% of patients were coinfected with the human immunodefiency virus. In the per-protocol analysis, the proportion of patients with an unfavorable response was 4.9% in the control group, 3.2% in the 6-month group (adjusted difference from control, -1.8 percentage points; 90% confidence interval [CI], -6.1 to 2.4), and 18.2% in the 4-month group (adjusted difference from control, 13.6 percentage points; 90% CI, 8.1 to 19.1). In the modified intention-to-treat analysis these proportions were 14.4% in the control group, 13.7% in the 6-month group (adjusted difference from control, 0.4 percentage points; 90% CI, -4.7 to 5.6), and 26.9% in the 4-month group (adjusted difference from control, 13.1 percentage points; 90% CI, 6.8 to 19.4).ConclusionsThe 6-month regimen that included weekly administration of high-dose rifapentine and moxifloxacin was as effective as the control regimen. The 4-month regimen was not noninferior to the control regimen. Soft set theory and rough set theory are two new tools to discuss uncertainty. Graph theory is a nice way to depict certain information. Particularly soft graphs serve the purpose beautifully. In order to discuss uncertainty in soft graphs, some new types of graphs called soft covering based rough graphs are introduced. Several basic properties of these newly defined graphs are explored. Applications of soft covering based rough graphs in decision making can be very fruitful. In this regard an algorithm has been proposed.

Fruit flies are notorious insect pests causing considerable loss to agriculture produce. This effort was meant to evaluate the response of different life stages of peach fruit fly to plant extracts having insecticidal properties. Extract of three native plant species (Azadirachta indica, Zataria multiflora, Achillea santolina) and their various concentration (2, 1, and 0.5%) were used for the purpose. Firstly, the artificial diet of fruit flies was subjected to these treatments, while on the other hand chikoo fruits which were used for flies to settle on, were dipped in same concentrations of these plant extracts, and dried under shade and exposed to peach fruit flies for feeding for 15 days. All the three plants exhibited insect repelling potential but these had no significant difference from each other, while A. indica showing nonsignificant but most promising results. Similarly, there was no significant combine effect of plants extracts and its various concentrations. However, various doses of plant extracts showed significant difference in reducing the number of oviposition, pupae developed, flies settled and post settling reproduction. There was inverse response of peach fruit flies to increasing concentration of plant extracts. Minimum significant number of fruit flies (0.58) settled after 18 h, reaching to its peak (1.73) after 42 h showing a decreasing trend subsequently. Hence, all the plants exhibited insecticidal potential and resulted in reduction of fruit fly population in laboratory condition. Background: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an effective home‐based form of dialysis. Although several factors limit its use, the timely and successful insertion of a PD catheter is essential for increased uptake. Aims: This retrospective observational study was performed at a tertiary teaching hospital in Sydney with the aim of comparing outcomes of PD catheter insertion using a percutaneous, modified Seldinger technique utilised by a trained nephrologist to the traditional surgical insertion using a mini‐laparotomy. Results: Over an 8‐year period, 194 PD catheters were inserted. Aside from lower body mass indexes in the nephrologist‐led interventions (P = 0.02), patient demographics were well matched. Time‐to‐insertion was significantly shorter with the percutaneous technique (P < 0.001). Univariant logistic regression noted no difference in the complication rate between the nephrologist‐inserted and surgically inserted groups (likelihood ratio, 1.59; P = 0.08). There were differences in the type of adverse outcomes with each technique. Surgical procedures were more likely to have exit site leaks (P = 0.009) and peritonitis (P = 0.004), whereas procedure abandonment (P = 0.009) was more common in nephrologist‐led procedures. Conclusions: The current study highlights that with careful patient selection, trained nephrologists in metropolitan areas can successfully insert PD catheters. Mathematical approaches to structure model problems have a significant role in expanding our knowledge in our routine life circumstances. To put them into practice, the right formulation, method, systematic representation, and formulation are needed. The purpose of introducing soft graphs is to discretize these fundamental mathematical ideas, which are inherently continuous, and to provide new tools for applying mathematical analysis technology to real-world applications including imperfect and inexact data or uncertainty. Soft rough covering models briefly; SRC-Models), a novel theory that addresses uncertainty. In this present paper, we have introduced two new concepts Li-soft rough covering graphs (Li-SRCGs) and the concept of fixed point of such graphs. Furthermore, we looked into a some algebras that dealt with the fixed points of Li-SRCGs. The simulation of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel models is becoming increasingly important for testing and validation of fifth-generation new radio (5G NR) wireless networks and beyond. However, simulation performance tends to be limited when modeling a large number of antenna elements combined with a complex and realistic representation of propagation conditions. In this paper, we propose an efficient implementation of a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) three-dimensional (3D) channel model, specifically designed for graphics processing unit (GPU) platforms, with the goal of minimizing the computational time required for channel simulation. The channel model is highly parameterized to encompass a wide range of configurations required for real-world optimized 5G NR network deployments. We use several compute unified device architecture (CUDA)-based optimization techniques to exploit the parallelism and memory hierarchy of the GPU. Experimental data show that the developed system achieves an overall speedup of about 240× compared to the original C++ model executed on an Intel processor. Compared to a design previously accelerated on a datacenter-class field programmable gate array (FPGA), the GPU design has a 33.3% higher single-precision performance but a 7.5% higher power consumption. The proposed GPU accelerator can provide fast and accurate channel simulations for 5G NR network planning and optimization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
