It has been reported that Ywhah (14-3-3η) reduces glycolysis. However, it remains unclear about the downstream mechanism by which glycolysis is regulated by 14-3-3η in cardiac hypertrophy. As an important regulator, Yes-associated protein (YAP) interacts with 14-3-3η to participate in the initiation and progression of various diseases in vivo. In this study, the model of H9C2 cardiomyocyte hypertrophy was established by triiodothyronine (T3) or rotenone stimulation to probe into the action mechanism of 14-3-3η. Interestingly, the overexpression of 14-3-3η attenuated T3 or rotenone induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and decreased glycolysis in H9C2 cardiomyocytes, whereas the knockdown of 14-3-3η had an opposite effect. Mechanistically, 14-3-3η can reduce the expression level of YAP and bind to it to reduce its nuclear translocation. In addition, changing YAP may affect the expression of lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), a glycolysis-related protein. Meanwhile, LDHA is also a possible target for 14-3-3η to mediate glycolysis based on changes in pyruvate, a substrate of LDHA. Collectively, 14-3-3η can suppress cardiomyocyte hypertrophy via decreasing the nucleus translocation of YAP and glycolysis, which indicates that 14-3-3η could be a promising target for inhibiting cardiac hypertrophy.

To promote the energy-saving transformation of industrial enterprises effectively, it is important to accurately grasp the energy consumption behavior of enterprises. In this study, the multi-type industrial enterprises in an industrial park located in Shanghai are selected for analysis. Based on the collection and processing of the measured heating (steam) data, by employing the big data analysis method, the cluster analysis is carried out from different dimensions including user difference, load fluctuation and typical daily characteristics. Following which, the multi-type load characteristic curve is obtained, and the energy consumption characteristics of the whole industrial park and different types of industrial enterprises are discussed. On this basis, the energy load forecasting model of industrial enterprises is developed based on the LSTM neural network, and the effect of introducing meteorological data on the accuracy of load forecasting is analyzed.

BackgroundDiabetes is a common metabolic disease that is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis and iron metabolism. Salidroside (SAL) is the main ingredient of the traditional Chinese herb Rhodiola, previous studies have shown that SAL could reshape the gut microbiota and limit iron accumulation. Therefore, it is possible that SAL can act as an alternative therapy for diabetes, and its underlying mechanism is worth exploring.MethodsSAL was used to treat diabetic db/db mice. Serum glucose and iron levels and the histopathology of myocardial fibres were evaluated. The gut microbiota composition was determined by 16S rRNA Illumina sequencing technology.ResultsTreatment with SAL significantly reduced blood glucose and ameliorated diabetic cardiomyopathy in diabetic db/db mice, which was accompanied by inhibited ferroptosis and iron accumulation. Furthermore, the 16S rRNA sequencing results showed that SAL induced a change in the gut microbiota composition. Overall, SAL could increase the proportion of probiotic bacteria and decrease Lactobacillus to improve gut microbiota. Specifically, SAL increased the ratio of Bacteroidetes to Firmicutes in diabetic mice. The most significant biomarker was the genus Lactobacillus between the MD group and the SAL group. In addition, COG and KEGG analyses suggested that SAL mainly participated in nutrient metabolism, among them iron metabolism was associated with the abundance of Lactobacillus.ConclusionsSAL could reduce the glucose level and protect against diabetic cardiomyopathy in diabetic mice, which might be mediated by the change in the gut microbiota and the regulation of iron metabolism. The findings suggested that SAL was a promising complementary option for diabetes therapy.

Dye adsorption by magnetic modified biochar has now received growing interest due to its excellent adsorption performance and facile separation for recycling. In this study, nano iron oxide–modified biochar was fabricated via the successive hydrothermal-pyrolyzing method using Chlorella vulgaris (Cv) and FeSO4·7H2O as raw materials, and its adsorption on Rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution was studied. Multiple techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed to comprehensively characterize the structure, morphology and physicochemical properties of the adsorbent. The as-synthesized nano iron oxide–modified biochar (CBC-Fe(II)) exhibited a large surface area (527.6 m2/g) and high magnetic saturation value (13.7 emu/g) to facilitate magnetic separation. Compared with CBC and CBC-Fe(III), CBC-Fe(II) exhibited superior adsorption ability towards RhB in aqueous solution, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 286.4 mg/g. The adsorption process of RhB onto CBC-Fe(II) was well described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model, indicating monolayer chemisorption behaviors for the adsorption system. Facile preparation, great adsorption performance and magnetic recovery properties endow CBC-Fe(II) to be a promising adsorbent for dye removal.

The sludge-derived biochar is considered an effective emerging contaminants adsorbent for wastewater treatment. In this paper, red mud and steel slag (RMSS) was used for improving sludge dewaterability and enhancing the sludge-derived biochar adsorption capacity. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) were employed to comprehensively characterize the mineral composition, functional group, and morphology of the adsorbent. RMSS was able to improve the sludge dewatering performance by providing a skeleton structure to promote drainage and Fe(III) to decrease the Zeta potential. The dosage of 20 mg/g RMSS was able to reduce the specific resistance to filtration (SRF) and the Zeta potential of sludge from 1.57 × 1013 m/kg and −19.56 mV to 0.79 × 1013 m/kg and −9.10 mV, respectively. The co-pyrolysis of RMSS and sludge (2:8) induced the formation of biochar containing FeAl2O4 (PS80). The PS80 exhibited a large surface area (46.40 m2/g) and high tetracycline (TC) removal capacity (98.87 mg/g) when combined with H2O2 (PS80-H2O2). The adsorption process of TC onto PS80 and PS80-H2O2 was well described by the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating physisorption and chemisorption behavior. The results indicated that co-pyrolysis of RMSS sludge PS80-H2O2 could enhance the biochar adsorption capacity of TC, attributable to the degradation by ·OH generated by the heterogeneous Fenton reaction of FeAl2O4 and H2O2, the release of adsorbed sites, and the improvement of the biochar pore structure. This study proposed a novel method for the use of RMSS to dewater sludge as well as to induce the formation of FeAl2O4 in biochar with effective TC removal by providing a Fe and Al source, achieving a waste-to-resource strategy for the integrated management of industrial solid waste and sewage sludge.

Cellular barriers, such as the skin, the lung epithelium or the intestinal epithelium, constitute one of the first obstacles facing nanomedicines or other nanoparticles entering organisms. It is thus important to assess the capacity of nanoparticles to enter and transport across such barriers. In this work, Caco-2 intestinal epithelial cells were used as a well-established model for the intestinal barrier, and the uptake, trafficking and translocation of model silica nanoparticles of different sizes were investigated using a combination of imaging, flow cytometry and transport studies. Compared to typical observations in standard cell lines commonly used for in vitro studies, silica nanoparticle uptake into well-developed Caco-2 cellular barriers was found to be very low. Instead, nanoparticle association to the apical outer membrane was substantial and these particles could easily be misinterpreted as internalised in the absence of imaging. Passage of nanoparticles through the barrier was very limited, suggesting that the low amount of internalised nanoparticles was due to reduced uptake into cells, rather than a considerable transport through them.

Abstract Background Rural older adults experience a high burden of depressive symptoms and significant barriers to accessing mental health services. The Modified Behavioral Activation Treatment (MBAT) has been verified to be effective among rural older adults in China. Due to its structured format and skill-based learning, it is well suited for digital-based delivery. However, only a few studies were from developed countries, and the evidence to support its application in rural China still needs to be provided. Thus, based on the fact that digital health technology has the potential to address the shortage of healthcare resources and the constraints of community mental health services in rural China, the effectiveness of the digital MBAT (D-MBAT) program among rural older adults is worth further evaluation. Methods A multi-center randomized controlled trial will be conducted among 216 rural older adults from Huayuan County and Fenghuang County in Western Hunan. The intervention group will receive the D-MBAT program, while the control group will receive routine care. Depressive and anxiety symptoms, social health, quality of life, and satisfaction will be measured at baseline, one-month, and three-month follow-ups to evaluate the digital MBAT program’s effectiveness. Discussion Existing digital psychological intervention strategies seldom take into account the needs and preferences of the older adults in low-resource rural areas. Thus, this study aims to develop a D-MBAT program based on person-centered and community-engaged approach to maximize the mental health service of rural older adults with depressive symptoms.A successful D-MBAT program would be a feasible and scalable approach to the management of prevalent mental health conditions of rural older adults in resource-limited Western Hunan. Abstract The incidence of multiple primary lung cancer (MPLC) is increasing, with some of our surgical patients exhibiting numerous lesions. We defined lung cancer with five or more primary lesions as super MPLCs. Elucidating the genomic characteristics of this special MPLC subtype can help reduce disease burden and understand tumor evolution. In our cohort of synchronous super early-stage MPLCs (PUMCH-ssesMPLC), whole-exome sequencing on 130 resected malignant specimens from 18 patients provided comprehensive super-MPLC genomic landscapes. Mutations are enriched in PI3k-Akt and MAPK pathways. Their BRAF mutation frequency (31.5%) is significantly higher than MPLC with fewer lesions and early-stage single-lesion cancer, while EGFR mutations are significantly fewer (13.8%). As lesion counts increase, BRAF mutations gradually become dominant. Also, invasive lesions more tend to have classic super-MPLC mutation patterns. High-frequency BRAF mutations, especially Class II, and low-frequency EGFR mutations could be a reason for the limited effectiveness of targeted therapy in super-MPLC patients.

To improve the electrocatalytic transformation of carbon dioxide (CO2) to multi-carbon (C2+) products is of great importance. Here we developed a nitrogen-doped Cu catalyst, by which the maximum C2+ Faradaic efficiency can reach 72.7% in flow-cell system, with the partial current density reaching 0.62 A cm−2. The in situ Raman spectra demonstrate that the ∗CO adsorption can be strengthened on such a N-doped Cu catalyst, thus promoting the ∗CO utilization in the subsequent C–C coupling step. Simultaneously, the water activation can be well enhanced by N doping on Cu catalyst. Owing to the synergistic effects, the selectivity and activity for C2+ products over the N-deoped Cu catalyst are much improved.

Abstract Background Thyroid eye disease (TED) is a vision-threatening autoimmune disorder. Orbital tissue fibrosis leading to intractable complications remains a troublesome issue in TED management. Exploration of novel therapeutic targets and agents to ameliorate tissue fibrosis is crucial for TED. Recent work suggests that Ca2+ signaling participates in tissue fibrosis. However, whether an alteration of Ca2+ signaling has a role in fibrogenesis during TED remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of Ca2+ signaling in the fibrogenesis process during TED and the potential therapeutic effects of a highly selective inhibitor of the L-type calcium channel (LTCC), nimodipine, through a TGF-β1 induced in vitro TED model. Methods Primary culture of orbital fibroblasts (OFs) were established from orbital adipose connective tissues of patients with TED and healthy control donors. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and RNA sequencing were used to assess the genes expression associated with LTCC in OFs. Flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) proliferation assay, wound healing assay and Western blot (WB) were used to assess the intracellular Ca2+ response on TGF-β1 stimulation, and to evaluate the potential therapeutic effects of nimodipine in the TGF-β1 induced in vitro TED model. The roles of Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) in fibrogenesis during TED were determined by immunohistochemistry, WB, flow cytometry and co-immunoprecipitation assay. Selective inhibitors were used to explore the downstream signaling pathways. Results LTCC inhibitor nimodipine blocked the TGF-β1 induced intracellular Ca2+ response and further reduced the expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), collagen type I alpha 1 (Col1A1) and collagen type I alpha 2 (Col1A2) in OFs. Besides, nimodipine inhibited cell proliferation and migration of OFs. Moreover, our results provided evidence that activation of the CaMKII/STAT1 signaling pathway was involved in fibrogenesis during TED, and nimodipine inhibited the pro-fibrotic functions of OFs by down-regulating the CaMKII/STAT1 signaling pathway. Conclusions TGF-β1 induces an LTCC-mediated Ca2+ response, followed by activation of CaMKII/STAT1 signaling pathway, which promotes the pro-fibrotic functions of OFs and participates in fibrogenesis during TED. Nimodipine exerts potent anti-fibrotic benefits in vitro by suppressing the CaMKII/STAT1 signaling pathway. Our work deepens our understanding of the fibrogenesis process during TED and provides potential therapeutic targets and alternative candidate for TED.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between uric acid, depressive symptoms and immunoinflammatory among rural older adults. Method: This case-control study was conducted in 17 rural villages in Hunan Province, China, between January 2023 and April 2024. Abstract Purpose Cutaneous metastasis (CM) accounts for 5–30% of patients with breast cancer (BC) and presents unfavorable response to treatment and poor prognosis. A better understanding of the molecular alterations involved in metastasis is essential, which would help identify diagnostic and efficacy biomarkers for CM. Materials : We retrospectively reviewed a total of 13 patients with histological or cytological diagnosis of breast cancer and CM. Clinical information was extracted from the medical records. The mutational landscape of matched primary tumors with their lymph nodes or CM tissues were analyzed using next-generation sequencing (NGS) of 425 cancer-relevant genes. All tissues were also analyzed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The association of prognosis with various clinical and molecular factors was also evaluated. Results More than half of the patients were Ki67 low ( 50%) showed significantly shorter T1 than the Ki67 low group (≤ 50%) (median 12.5 vs. 50.0 months, P = 0.036). TP53, PIK3CA mutations, and TERT amplification group were associated with inferior T2 (median 11 vs. 36 months, P = 0.065; 8 vs. 36 months, P = 0.013, 7 vs. 36 months, P = 0.003, respectively). Conclusion We compared the genomic features of primary breast cancer tissues with their corresponding CM tissues and discussed potential genes and pathways that may contribute to the skin metastasis of advanced breast cancers patients. TP53, PIK3CA mutant, and TERT amplification may serve as biomarkers for poor prognosis for CM patients.

Abstract Coupling by metal–carbene transfer enables the formation of several different bonds at the carbenoid site, enabling prochiral Csp 3 centers that are fundamental three-dimensional substructures for medicines to be forged with increased efficiency. However, strategies using bulk chemicals are rare because of the challenge of breaking two unactivated geminal bonds. Herein, we report the reactivity of ethers to form metal–carbene intermediate by cleavage of α-Csp 3–H/Csp 3–O bonds, which achieve selective coupling with arylmagnesium bromides and chlorosilanes. These couplings are catalysed by cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene-chromium complex and enable the one-step formation of 1,n-arylsilyl alcohols and α-arylated silanes. Mechanistic studies indicate that the in-situ formed low-valent Cr might react with iodobenzene to form phenyl radical species, which abstracts the α-H atom of ether in giving α-oxy radical. The latter combines with Cr by breaking α-Csp 3–O bond to afford metal–carbene intermediate, which couples with aryl Grignard and chlorosilane to form two σ-bonds.

This article mainly introduces the impedance based single-phase grounding fault location method for distribution networks, including its theoretical basis, algorithm steps, and simulation verification. First, starting from the impedance analysis of the transmission line model, the method of accurately measuring the location of the fault point through phase domain analysis is explained. Next, the process of impedance analysis for single-phase grounding faults was described in detail, that is, how to solve the impedance of the grounding fault points by calculating the voltage and current signals. Then, the specific process of the impedance based grounding fault location algorithm was introduced, including the calculation of equivalent load impedance, the calculation of starting voltage and current, the calculation of grounding current, and the solution of fault point location. Finally, simulation verification was conducted using an IEEE 34 node distribution system example in a MATLAB/Simulink environment, and the results showed that the algorithm has high positioning accuracy, with a maximum error of within 3%.

BackgroundPulmonary fibrosis currently lacks screening and diagnostic methods in the early stages and effective treatments in the later stages, so there is an urgent need to explore the mechanisms and develop targeted treatments.ObjectiveTo screen the expression of differentially expressed circular RNA (circRNA) hsa_circUCK2 under pathological conditions and to explore its effect on pulmonary fibrosis.MethodsIn the cell-based experiments, hsa_circUCK2 was knocked down in HPF-a cells using small interfering RNA (siRNA), and HPF-a cells were stimulated by TGF-β1. Four groups were set up: si-NC group, si-circUCK2 group, si-NC+TGF-β1-treated group, and si-circUCK2+TGF-β1-treated group. Western blot assay was used to detect the expression of fibronectin (FN1) in HPF-a cells of the four groups, scratch assay was used to detect the migration ability of HPF-a cells, and CCK-8 assay was used to detect the proliferation ability of HPF-a cells in the two groups with TGF-β1 stimulation, the si-NC+TGF-β1-treated group and the si-circUCK2+TGF-β1-treated group. In the animal experiments, forty-eighty healthy SPF-grade male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into four groups: saline+si-con group, saline+si-circ_0000115 group, SiO2+si-con group, and SiO2+si-circ_0000115 group. Mouse lung circRNA mmu_circ_0000115 (mouse homolog of hsa_circUCK2) was knocked down by tracheal drip injection of siRNA, and a mouse lung fibrosis model was constructed by tracheal drip injection of SiO2 suspension (0.2 g·kg−1, 50 mg·mL−1) after 48 h. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the knockout efficiency in each organ of the mouse, Western blot was applied to detect the expression of type I collagen α2 (COL1A2) in the lung tissues, and Sirius red was used to detect collagen synthesis in the lung tissues.ResultsIn the cell-based experiments, after the knockdown of hsa_circUCK2, the Western blot results showed that the expression level of the FN1 protein in TGF-β1-stimulated HPF-a cells was significantly down-regulated (P

When a single-phase ground fault occurs, the transient zero sequence current will significantly increase. So, it is possible to detect whether a single-phase grounding fault has occurred in the transmission line by calculating and comparing the amplitude of transient zero sequence current. Only when the amplitude of the zero sequence voltage under the steady-state power frequency is greater than the preset threshold can the line selection device be effectively and reliably started. The instantaneous value protection device can also be used to start first, and then, the steady-state amplitude of the power frequency can be compared as the verification object.

Introduction Depression is a major global health problem, with high prevalence rates of depressive symptoms observed among the elderly population in China, particularly exacerbating in rural areas. Due to a lack of professional mental health training and inadequate psychotherapy capacity within primary medical staff, rural elderly individuals grappling with depressive symptoms often encounter challenges in receiving timely diagnosis and treatment. In this landscape, the modified behavioural activation treatment (MBAT) emerges as a promising approach due to its practicality, ease of therapist training and application, patient acceptability, and broad applicability. However, existing evidence for MBAT mainly hails from developed countries, leaving a gap in its adaptation and implementation within rural China. This study aims to develop an MBAT training programme for primary medical staff to manage depressive symptoms among rural elderly and evaluate its effectiveness.Methods and analysis A cluster randomised controlled trial will be conducted in 10 randomly selected township hospitals in Lengshuijiang and Lianyuan, Hunan Province. We aim to recruit 150 participants, with 5 township hospitals selected for each group, each consisting of 15 participants. The intervention group will implement the MBAT training programme, while the control group will receive usual care training programme. Depressive symptoms, psychosocial functioning, quality of life and satisfaction will be measured at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and at 3 and 6 months post-intervention. Effectiveness will be assessed using linear or generalised linear mixed models.Ethics and dissemination This study has obtained approval from the Institutional Review Board of the Third Xiangya Hospital, Centre South University (No.: 2022-S261). Results will be disseminated through publication in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.Trial registration number ChiCTR2300074544.

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of skin care product containing artemisia naphtha in individuals with sensitive skin. Methods A single-center and self-controlled (before and after application) clinical trial was conducted in 31 subjects with sensitive skin. Test product was applied to the face of the subjects twice daily for 4 weeks. Objective: To assess the safety and feasibility of ultra-remote robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy using the Edge Multi-Port Endoscopic Surgical Robot MP1000 (Shenzhen Edge Medical Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China) combined with 5G communication technology. Methods: A case of remote robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy was successfully completed on May 2024 by using the Edge Multi-Port Endoscopic Surgical Robot MP1000 at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and the People's Liberation Army General Hospital, approximately 1, 200 ​km apart. The procedure was simultaneously broadcast during the 36th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy in Conjuction with the Peking University Gynecologic Oncology Summit Forum. Results: A 49-year-old female was hospitalized in the Department of Gynecology of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University for frequent urination for half a year and increased menstrual flow for over a month. The patient was diagnosed with abnormal uterine bleeding caused by multiple uterine leiomyoma and endometrial polyps, combined with moderate anemia. There were no contraindications for surgery, and the patient had surgical indications. On May 2024, the patient underwent a 5G remote robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy under general anesthesia. The procedure was successful, with no surgical complications and no interruptions during the live broadcast. The intraoperative blood loss was approximately 20 ​mL, and the surgery lasted about 70 ​min. The bidirectional latency during the operation was around 19 ​ms, with no adverse events related to the robot or the network. The patient recovered well postoperatively and was discharged on the fourth day with no postoperative complications. Conclusion: Preliminary findings indicate that ultra-remote robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy is safe and feasible with the support of 5G communication technology. This surgery represents the first globally broadcast remote procedure in the field of gynecology, marking a new milestone in the stability and safety of China's remote medical technology. Remote robotic surgery is expected to be widely promoted in the future, providing services to patients in areas with limited medical resources.

The prevalence of iron overload in Tibetans in Tibet is higher than that in Han. DNA methylation (DNAm) is closely related to iron metabolism and iron level. Nevertheless, the epigenetic status of Tibetans with iron overload is unknown, and we therefore aimed to explore whether the phenomenon observed in the Tibetan population is regulated by epigenetics. The results showed that 2.26% of cytosine was methylated in the whole genome, and that the rate of CG cytosine methylation was higher in individuals in the iron overload (TH) group than in those in the iron normal (TL) group. We analyzed differentially methylated genes (DMGs) in whole-genome bisulfite sequencing data from the TH and TL groups of high-altitude Tibetans. Protein-protein interaction and pathway analyses of candidate DMGs related to iron uptake and transport showed that epigenetic changes in 10 candidate genes (ACO1, CYBRD1, FLVCR1, HFE, HMOX2, IREB2, NEDD8, SLC11A2, SLC40A1 and TFRC) are likely to relate to iron overload. This work reveals, for the first time, changes of DNAm in Tibetan people with iron overload, which suggest that DNAm is a mechanism underlying differences in iron content between individuals in the high-altitude Tibetan population. Abstract Introduction Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a mechanical complication of acute myocardial infarction (MI) with a very high mortality, despite advances in surgical and circulatory support. The tremendous hemodynamic disturbance and the severely fragile myocardium render surgical repair a great challenge. The optimal time of surgical repair with or without circulatory support is still controversial. Objective The aim of this study is to review our experience with early surgical repair of post-MI VSD in a single major cardiac institution in China. Methods From January 2013 to October 2020, 9consecutive patients presented to our emergency department with a diagnosis of post-MI VSD. Among them, 8 were male, and the mean age was 58 ± 7years. The mean VSD size was 22.5 ± 5.7 mm. In all patients, an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)was inserted immediately after admission to cardiac surgery service. All patients were operated at a mean of 3.3 ± 2.9 days, and 4 within 24 h of the rupture (range 1 to 9 days post-VSD). In 5 cases, the VSD was located superiorly, and 4 cases in the posterior septum. Results The overall 30-day mortality was 11% (1/9). Coronary angiography was performed in all nine patients, four with single vessel disease had coronary stents implanted, and the other five received concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting during VSD repair surgery. There was no death in all 5 patients with anterior septal perforation. One patient with posterior septal perforation died in the operating room due to bleeding from the ventriculotomy site. Three survived patients were diagnosed with a small residual defect and mild left to right shunt post-repair. However, no further intervention was required, and patients remained asymptomatic (Killip II in 1 and III in 2). Conclusion In our experience, immediate insertion of IABP and hemodynamic stabilization with early surgical intervention of VSD repair and concomitant coronary revascularization provided an 89% survival rate.

Abstract Retinoblastoma is the most frequent intraocular malignancy in children. Little is known on the molecular basis underlying the biological and clinical behavior of this cancer. Here, using gene expression profiles, we demonstrate the existence of two major retinoblastoma subtypes that can be divided into six subgroups. Subtype 1 has higher expression of cone related genes and higher percentage of RB1 germline mutation. By contrast, subtype 2 tumors harbor more genes with ganglion/neuronal features. The dedifferentiation in subtype 2 is associated with stemness features including low immune infiltration. Gene Otology analysis demonstrates that immune response regulations and visual related pathways are the key molecular difference between subtypes. Subtype 1b has the highest risk of invasiveness across all subtypes. The recognition of these molecular subtypes shed a light on the important biological and clinical perspectives for retinoblastomas.

Abstract Background Alexithymia, a subclinical cognitive-affective impairment, is prevalent in older people and increases the risk of mental disorders. There is a vast alexithymia treatment gap, with majority of older people in nursing homes lacking access to adequate mental health care. The study aimed to evaluate the effects of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on alexithymia, anxiety, depression and sleep quality of older people in nursing homes. Methods This quasi-experimental study was conducted with two groups (the control group and intervention) from March to November 2021. This study enrolled 86 participants, two of whom were lost to follow-up; 42 received usual care (control group) and 42 received REBT based on usual care (intervention group) in nursing homes. The older people in both groups were evaluated at baseline (T0), within one-week post-intervention (T1), and at 3-month follow-up (T3). Generalized estimating equations were used by SPSS version 26 to assess the differential change in the outcomes between the two groups. Abstract Background Nurses in tertiary hospitals are at high risk for depression. Understanding sleep quality and perceived stress may contribute to nurses’ mental health and health-related nursing productivity. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of sleep quality and perceived stress on depressive symptoms among nurses in tertiary hospitals. Methods A total of 2,780 nurses (overall response rate = 91.1%) were recruited through a cross-sectional survey in 23 tertiary hospitals in China. Questionnaires included the Self-Rating Depression Scale, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale. Variables that were significant in Chi-square tests were further entered into binary logistic stepwise regression. Results The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 60.3% (n = 1,676), of which 97.4% (n = 1,633) were female, and 77.8% were younger than 35 years (n = 1,304). Nurses who had moderate, poor, severe sleep quality and poor perceived pressure were more likely to be depressed. Master’s degree, 6–10 years of work, and physical activity were protective factors, while the opposite was the case for shift work and high dissatisfaction. Conclusions More than half of nurses working in tertiary care hospitals reported depressive symptoms, and lower sleep quality and higher perceived stress were more associated with this. Perceived stress is an interesting concept, which may provide a new entry point for the well-known idea that there is a relationship between poor sleep quality and depression. It is possible to reduce depressive symptoms among public hospital nurses by providing information on sleep health and stress relief.

Surface harmless storage of concentrated full tailings (CFTs) involves the technology of adding a curing agent to the tailings slurry discharged from the thickener to realize the modification of the tailings and centralized storage of the tailings on the surface to realize the harmless treatment of the tailings. High water content of tailings is still the key technical problem that restricts the harmless storage of piles at present. Regarding the above problems, we implemented the consolidation test and numerical simulation of seepage-stress coupling consolidation of CFT, clarified the consolidation characteristics and parameters of CFT under different curing ages, and conducted a comparative analysis of pore water pressure in the whole cross-section of piles with different drainage schemes based on the results of the test. In addition, we also clarified the drainage effect of interlayer drainage on reducing the excess pore water pressure of piles and compared the simulation results of the pore water pressure of piles under different permeability coefficients. The results show that as the permeability coefficient of the concentrated tailings material decreases, the pore pressure accumulation inside piles under the same drainage scheme is more serious, and the length of time for consolidation and stabilization becomes longer. Therefore, it is recommended that the excess porous water pressure be relieved by means of increased drainage facilities under a small permeability coefficient.

Abstract Background Leptomeningeal metastases (LM) were rare in gastric cancer (GC), and GC patients with LM (GCLM) generally suffer from poor prognosis. Nevertheless, the clinical utility of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) was underinvestigated in GCLM. Methods We retrospectively studied 15 GCLM patients, and all patients had paired primary tumor tissue samples and post-LM CSF samples while 5 patients also had post-LM plasma samples.
