The exponential growth of seismic networks, at regional, continental and global levels, and the availability of online transmission of large volumes of data in near-real time, allows us to analyze the ground motion of an earthquake, of low or high magnitude, in very short times with high levels of confidence. This was the case of the recent seismic sequences in Italy (2022-11-09 Mw 5.6 Ancona) and Middle East (2023-02-06 Mw 7.8 Turkey-Syria), when thousands of researchers worldwide contributed to providing rapid analyses of seismic motion to support emergency activities and physical understanding of the observed phenomenon during the sequence.In this work, we present the new web-tool ERMES (Earthquake Reports of strong Motion EStimation) designed to create an event-report describing the characteristics of the ground motion associated with a seismic event. It is integrated with the Italian (ITACA) and the Engineering Strong Motion (ESM) databases. ERMES is developed as a tool for the analysis of the Intensity Measures soon after an event has occurred, that is reviewed and updated by expert users as new data become available and/or particular aspects of shaking need to be highlighted. In case of past events, ERMES is also useful to study the spatial distribution of the strong motion parameters.ERMES is the result of the collaborative effort of two INGV institutional tasks, namely the the INGV Seismic Hazard Center and the WP9.3 (Data and reports during the seismic emergency) of the DPC-INGV 2022-2025 Agreement.&nbsp, The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)

Within the proximity of the source of medium-to-large earthquakes, seismic ground motion exhibits peculiar characteristics that can hardly be reproduced by global and regional empirical models (GMMs), usually adopted for hazard assessments and shaking scenarios. High amplitudes (in terms of peak values and spectral ordinates), velocity pulses, vertical motions greater than their horizontal counterparts, and permanent displacements are some of the characteristics observed during strong worldwide earthquakes. The paucity of near source observables does not allow the calibration of robust empirical models for their prediction, and to overcome this limitation, adjustment factors have recently been calibrated to be applied to classical GMMs for several ground motion parameters using the NESS recording dataset.The recent earthquake sequence in Turkey produced a large amount of near source recordings close to the different activated fault segments, which provide an opportunity on the one hand to validate the previously calibrated adjustment factors and on the other hand to investigate the characteristics of additional shaking parameters related to energy content and release mode, such as waveform envelopes, arias intensity and duration. The growing interest in the open access of groundmotion data, webservices, and tools motivate every year a new release of the ITalian ACcelerometric Archive (ITACA), which represents the most complete collection of accelerometric waveforms recorded in Italy. In the last years, ITACA has undergone an important renewal process resulting in a new layout of the website (http://itaca.mi.ingv.it) and substantial changes in the database content and services. In this work we present the main feature of the last release of ITACA v3.1 (last accessed on July 2020), providing Users with information to browse the website and to access and analyze data.

The Engineering Strong-Motion (ESM) flatfile is a parametric table which contains verified and reliable metadata and intensity measures of manually processed waveforms included in the ESM database. The flatfile has been developed within the Seismology Thematic Core Service of EPOS-IP (European Plate Observing System Implementation Phase) and it is disseminated throughout a web portal for research and technical purposes. The adopted criteria for flatfile compilation aim to collect strong motion data and related metadata in a uniform, updated, traceable and quality-checked way to develop Ground Motion Models (GMMs) for Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA) and engineering applications. In this paper, we present the characteristics of ESM flatfile in terms of recording, event and station distributions, and we discuss the most relevant features of the Intensity Measures (IMs) of engineering interest included in the table. The dataset for flatfile compilation includes 23,014 recordings from 2179 earthquakes and 2080 stations from Europe and Middle-East. The events are characterized by magnitudes in the range 3.5-8.0 and refer to different tectonics regimes, such as shallow active crustal and subduction zones. Intensity measures include peak and integral parameters and duration of each waveform. The spectral amplitudes of the (5% damping) acceleration and displacement response are provided for 36 periods, in the interval 0.01-10 s, as well as the 103 amplitudes of the Fourier spectrum for the frequency range 0.04-50 Hz. Several statistics are shown with reference to the most significant metadata for GMMs calibrations, such as moment magnitude, focal depth, several distance metrics, style of faulting and parameters for site characterization. Furthermore, we also compare and explain the most relevant differences between the metadata of ESM flatfile with those provided by the previous flatfile derived in RESORCE (Reference Database for Seismic Ground Motion in Europe) project.
