Madencilikte karşılaşılan en önemli meslek hastalıklarından biri gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybıdır (GBİK). Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'deki bir açık ocak linyit madeninde GBİK'nın incelenmesine yönelik analizler yapılmıştır. GBİK madencilerin yaşı, deneyimi, mesleği, maruz kalma değeri (Lex) ve maksimum gürültü seviyesi (Lpeak) dikkate alınarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışanların maruz kaldıkları gürültü seviyeleri gürültü dozimetreleri ile ölçülmüş ve çalışanlara özel işitme merkezi tarafından işitme testi uygulanmıştır. GBİK'da etkili olabilecek parametreleri belirlemek için elde edilen verilerin tamamı lojistik regresyon analizi (LRA) ve hiyerarşik log-lineer analiz (HLA) yöntemleri ile değerlendirilmiştir. Saha personelinin GBİK olasılığının operatörlere ve sürücülere göre yaklaşık 6 kat daha fazla olduğu belirlenmiştir. 21-29 yaş grubuna göre 57-65 ve 48-56 yaş grubunda GBİK olasılığının sırasıyla 11,4 ve 4,41 kat daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. İşitme kaybında deneyim ve maksimum gürültü seviyesi en önemli parametreler olarak bulunmuştur. Bunların yanı sıra yaş×deneyim, meslek×maksimum gürültü düzeyleri ve meslek×ortalama gürültüye maruz kalma düzeylerinin etkileşimlerinin GBİK olasılığını artırdığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışanların GBİK tahmini için bir lojistik regresyon modeli geliştirilmiş ve işitme kaybının en çok sahada çalışanlar için sorun olduğu tespit edilmiştir. İşitme kaybının yaş ve tecrübe ile arttığı ve meslek gruplarına göre farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir., One of the most important occupational diseases encountered in mining is the noise induced hearing loss (NIHL). In this study, analyses were carried out to examine the NIHL in the open pit lignite mine in Turkey. The NIHL was evaluated in accordance with the miners’ age, experience, occupation, exposure value (Lex), and maximum noise level (Lpeak). Noise levels exposed the employees were measured with noise dosimeters and a hearing test was applied to the employees by a special hearing center. To determine the parameters that could be effective in NIHL, all of the obtained data were evaluated by the logistic regression analysis (LRA) and hierarchical log-linear analysis (HLA) methods. It was determined that the NIHL probability of field staff is approximately 6 times higher than operators and drivers. According to the 21-29 age group, it was found that the probability of NIHL in the 57-65 and in the 48-56 age group was 11.4 and 4.41 times higher, respectively. Experience and maximum noise levels were found to be the most important parameters in hearing loss. Besides these, it was determined that the interactions of age×experience, occupation×maximum noise levels, and occupation×average noise exposure levels increased the likelihood of NIHL. A logistic regression model has been developed for the NIHL estimation of employees and hearing loss was found to be a problem mostly for those working in the field. It was determined that hearing loss increased with age and experience, and varied according to occupational groups.

Gürültü, hem çalışma hayatında hem de günlük yaşamda birçok olumsuz fiziksel ve ruhsal etkilere sahiptir. Bu etkiler gürültünün frekansına, şiddetine, maruz kalma süresine ve maruz kaldığı gürültü düzeyine göre farklılıklar göstermektedir. Çalışma hayatında gürültü sorununun göz ardı edilmesi, çalışan sağlığı üzerinde geri dönüşü olmayan ve tedavi edilemeyen işitme kayıpları oluşturmaktadır. Bunların sonucunda çalışma verimi de olumsuz etkilenmektedir. Bu çalışmada, bir mermer fabrikasında çalışanların 2009 ve 2019 yıllarında yapılan odyoloji ölçüm sonuçları, çalışanların yaş, deneyim ve günlük maruz kaldığı gürültü seviyesi verileri kullanılmıştır. TS 2607 Standardına göre gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybı yaşama olasılıkları hesaplanmıştır. Standarda göre hesaplanan olasılıklar ile gerçek değerler karşılaştırılarak, gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybının proaktif yaklaşımla tayininde standardın kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır.

Computer aided ventilation design for underground mines has a vital importance. The data set parameters associated with the ventilation of underground mines must be carefully constructed to ensure reliable future planning. In this work, the Ventsim® ventilation simulation program was used to design an underground mine ventilation network in a computer environment. The values of the ventilation measurements were taken from the underground coal mine of Adularya Mining Energy Trade Corporation located in Mihalıçcık, Eskişehir province. Ventilation design was performed using this data set and the results obtained were compared with actual values. As a result, it has been determined that the design results are close to reality and the design is successful.&nbsp, Yeraltı maden ocakları için bilgisayar destekli havalandırma tasarımı hayati bir önem arz etmektedir. Geleceğe yönelik güvenilir planlamalar yapabilmek için yeraltı ocaklarının havalandırma ile ilişkili olan veri seti parametreleri dikkatli bir şekilde oluşturulmalıdır. Bu çalışmada, bir yeraltı maden ocağı havalandırma şebekesinin bilgisayar ortamında tasarlanması için Ventsim® havalandırma benzetim programı kullanılmıştır. Havalandırma ölçümlerine ilişkin değerler, Eskişehir ili Mihalıççık ilçesinde bulunan Adularya Madencilik Enerji A.Ş.’ye ait yeraltı kömür madeninden alınmıştır. In case the mine enterprises do not meet some legal requirements, they face a decision to stopthe activity. The reasons that are effective in the decision to stop the activity vary according to themine groups. In this study, the distribution according to the mining groups of mining enterprisesoperating in Eskisehir province, employee employment and the reasons of activity stopping wereexamined Within the scope of this study, distribution of mining enterprises operating in Eskisehirbetween 2014 - 2017 according to mining groups, the employee employment and reasons forstopping of operations were evaluated according to the Law on Occupational Health and SafetyNo. 6331 and the Mining Law No: 3213. It was determined that 78% of the reasons of activitystopping were caused by the failure to comply with legal regulations on occupational health andsafety and the solution proposal was presented. In addition, the interactions between the reasonsfor stopping activity and mining groups were examined by using hierarchical loglinear analysis., karşılaşmaktadırlar. Maden işletmelerinin faaliyet durdurma nedenlerinin %78’ininiş sağlığı ve güvenliği ile ilgili yasal düzenlemelere uyulmamasından kaynaklandığı belirlenmiş veçözüm önerileri sunulmuştur. Ayrıca, faaliyet durdurma nedenleri ve maden grupları arasındakietkileşimler hiyerarşik loglineer analiz yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir.

Dust-related occupational diseases are common in the mining sector. It is important to identify employees who have high potential for these diseases and to investigate the factors affecting disease formation. For this reason, dust and dust-related occupational diseases should be carefully investigated in mining operations. In this study, dust-related occupational diseases in an open-pit lignite mine were investigated. Firstly, dust measurements were performed and then a health check of all employees was implemented. The obtained data set was categorized by taking into account the occupation, age, experience and level of dust exposure of the employees. While the logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the probability of the diseases, a hierarchical loglinear model was established to investigate the factors in the occurrence of these diseases for those employees with the diseases. Therefore, the most important factors for the development of the diseases were determined by the hierarchical loglinear model.

Madencilik sektörü, içerdiği riskler açısından değerlendirildiğinde diğer sektörlere göre, çalışanlarının meslek hastalıkları yaşama olasılığı oldukça yüksek olan bir iş koludur. Meslek hastalıklarının tümüyle önlenebilmesi için, oluşum koşullarının belirlenmesi ve önleyici tedbirlerin alınması gereklidir. Bu çalışmada, yeraltı üretim yöntemi ile işletilen bir metal madeni işletmesinde, gürültü düzeyleri ile gürültüye bağlı işitme kayıplarının arasındaki ilişki lojistik regresyon analizi ile incelenmiştir. Gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybı üzerinde etkisi olan parametreler; çalışanların maruz kaldıkları gürültü düzeyleri, ortamdaki gürültü düzeyleri, meslek grupları, yaş ve deneyim süreleri olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, işitme kaybında en etkili olan parametreler belirlenmiştir.

Productivity is one of the primary indicators used to determine enterprise performances. The fact that profitability is high in Turkey Boron Mining sector has led to undervaluing the studies related to productivity. Due to the structure of the boron market and the product range’s quality to be able to substitute for each other, the potential future price drops to be caused by competition is considered to draw attention to productivity measurement and assessment studies. In this study, the model called as “Aggregate Index for the Analysis of Total Productivity and Rentability (AIPR)” was restructured by means of Fisher Ideal Index. The developed model was applied to Turkey Boron Mining Sector between the years 1980 and 2001 in order to see the current position with regard to productivity and to determine which points to focus on to increase productivity. It was established that the sector’s profitability and productivity level according to the base year was high and that technological change played the leading role in achieving high productivity. Also in this study, statistical analyses were carried out in order to determine the relation between the input parameters of Turkey Boron Mining Sector and indices of productivity and profitability.

Madencilikte gürültüye maruziyeti ve gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybı yaygındır. Gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybını önlemek ve en aza indirmek için çeşitli maden işlemlerinden kaynaklanan gürültü emisyon seviyelerinin değerlendirilmesi gerekir. Madenciler arasında mesleki işitme kaybının önlenmesine yönelik uygulamalar yetersiz olduğu için, bölgeye özgü veriler üretmek üzere bir kömür madenciliği alanı seçilmiş ve 2004-2007 yılları arasında gürültü ölçüm örnekleri toplanmıştır. Çalışma, lavvar, açık ocak ve yeraltı madenini içeren üç ana maden alanını kapsamaktadır. Gürültü ölçüm çalışmalarından elde edilen veriler, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma prosedürü kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Analizler Minitab® 14 istatistik yazılımı kullanılarak yapılmış ve en yüksek gürültü seviyelerini lavvar tesislerinin ürettiği bulunmuştur. Lavvarda çalışan işçiler, izin verilen sınırların oldukça üstünde gürültüye maruz kalmakta ve dolayısıyla gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybı açısından daha fazla risk altındadır.

Underground mining is considered to be one of the most dangerous industries and mining remains the most hazardous occupation. Categorical analysis of accident records may present valuable information for preventing accidents. In this study, hierarchical loglinear analysis was applied to occupational injuries that occurred in an underground coal mine. The main factors affecting the accidents were defined as occupation, area, reason, accident time and part of body affected. By considering subfactors of the main factors, multiway contingency tables were prepared and, thus, the probabilities that might affect nonfatal injuries were investigated. At the end of the study, important accident risk factors and job groups with a high probability of being exposed to those risk factors were determined. This article presents important information on decreasing the number accidents in underground coal mines.

Despite precautions, mining remains the most hazardous occupation, and coal mining is one of the most dangerous industries for non-fatal occupational accidents. Accidents are complicated events with many factors that affect their formation, and statistical evaluation of accident records can produce valuable information that may prevent such accidents. In this study, a logistic regression analysis method was applied to non-fatal occupational injuries from 1996 to 2009 in an opencast coal mine for Western Lignite Corporation (WLC) of Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKI). The accident records were categorized as occupation, area, reason, age, part of body and lost days, and the SPSS package program was used for statistical analyses. Logistic regression analyses were used to predict the probability of accidents that resulted in greater or less than 3 lost workdays. It is found that the job group with the highest probability of exposure to accidents with greater than 3 lost workdays for non-fatal injuries was the maintenance personnel and workers. The employees were primarily exposed to accidents caused by a mining machine, and the lower and upper extremities have the highest probability of exposure to such risks. Finally, an equation for calculating the probability of exposure to accidents with greater or less than 3 lost workdays was derived. Then, the equation was used to determine the important accident risk factors.

To reduce the number of occupational accidents, these incidents should be properly registered and carefully analysed. This study efficiently examines the Aegean Lignite Enterprise (ELI) of Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKI) in Soma between 2006 and 2011, and opencast coal mine occupational accident records were used for statistical analyses. A total of 231 occupational accidents were analysed for this study. The accident records were categorized into seven groups: area, reason, occupation, part of body, age, shift hour and lost days. The SPSS package program was used in this study for logistic regression analyses, which predicted the probability of accidents resulting in greater or less than 3 lost workdays for non-fatal injuries. Social facilities-area of surface installations, workshops and opencast mining areas are the areas with the highest probability for accidents with greater than 3 lost workdays for non-fatal injuries, while the reasons with the highest probability for these types of accidents are transporting and manual handling. Additionally, the model was tested for such reported accidents that occurred in 2012 for the ELI in Soma and estimated the probability of exposure to accidents with lost workdays correctly by 70%.

The levels of noise arise from mining industry seem to be higher when compared to other industries. For this reason, noise exposure and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) are prevalent in mining. Assessment of noise emission levels that arise from various mining operations is required to prevent and minimize the NIHL. Because the studies for preventing occupational hearing loss among miners are inadequate, a quarry and stone crushing-screening plant was selected to generate site-specific data. The noise levels of the environments in which workers work were measured and also a hearing test centre applied hearing tests to the workers. According to the hearing test results, it was determined that the part of workers have hearing loss. The main factors affecting the NIHL were assumed as experience, noise level, miners' age and occupation, and by taking into account the sub factors of the main factors, multi way contingency tables were prepared. Then hierarchical loglinear analysis method was implemented to categorized data; thus, the probabilities might effect NIHL was investigated. At the end of this study, it was found that the most risky occupation group was the drivers, and additionally, these workers were mostly exposed to 70-79 dB(A) noise level. When the important interactions are evaluated, it is determined that 4-11 years experienced crusher workers have high probability of NIHL because of high exposure to 90-99 dB(A) noise level. Moreover, the most important interactions which may affect the NIHL were identified and the precautions to reduce hearing loss were presented.

As mining operations go deeper, working conditions become more severe because of high temperature and moisture. The major heat source in deep mines is geothermal heat from the strata. Apart from the rise in rock temperature occurring as working depths increase, the air in mines is also affected by other heat sources. In modern face workings, for example, outputs of between 1,000 and 2,000 kWh may be installed for face conveyors, ploughs and shearers. This involves not only the heat given off by electrical units but also the heat released when stone and coal are being broken away. The mine climate is also affected by the high moisture content of the air, especially as water is required for dust control and large quantities of water collect in the workings owing to geological conditions 1, 2) .

Dust concentration levels in underground coal mines are of primary importance and have to be controlled to prevent pulmonary disease in miners. Different mining areas are exposed to different dust levels and to minimize the probability of occupational respiratory disease of coal miners, it is necessary to evaluate dust concentration in the different working areas. This study aimed to evaluate dust concentration levels in different areas of underground coal mines. Data obtained from the measurements in 1978-2006 were evaluated with the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Tukey-Kramer procedure. It was concluded that production areas had higher dust concentration levels; thus, production workers may have respiratory disorders related to exposure to coal dust in their work environment.
