Residential location can significantly impact the mental health, wellbeing, and community involvement of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) young people. While research has explored geographical differences in LGBTQ adult wellbeing, limited knowledge exists regarding LGBTQ young people’s experiences. Using a large Australian cross-sectional survey of 6,620 LGBTQ individuals aged 14–21, this study examined the associations between residential location and wellbeing outcomes. Findings revealed that LGBTQ young people in rural and remote areas reported higher levels of psychological distress. Cisgender young people in rural areas experienced more verbal and physical harassment, while those in inner-suburban areas faced increased sexual harassment. Participants were also particularly vulnerable to experiencing homelessness when living in regional towns and rural and remote areas. Trans young people were more likely to attend LGBTQ events in inner-suburban areas. These results emphasize the need for policy changes to foster diversity and inclusion in rural areas, along with targeted support services to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ young people. Parler de sexualité dans une institution de soins n'est pas chose aisée dans la mesure où cela contribue au dévoilement des postures subjectives et culturelles des professionnels, dans des contextes encore marqués par l'absence ou les lacunes de formation professionnelle à ce sujet. Parler de sexualité peut aussi mettre en danger ou en cause l'institution. Cet article propose une analyse secondaire de ce qui se présente comme une forme d'« ethnographie clinique ». Les matériaux mobilisés dans ce travail ont été recueillis en 1996–1997, dans le contexte d'une situation de crise suscitée par la révélation de relations sexuelles illicites entre un éducateur-chef et une jeune femme désignée comme handicapée mentale, dans une institution de soins. C'est au cours d'une intervention psychosociologique menée en réponse à une demande de la direction de l'établissement que des professionnels de différentes catégories ont pu s'exprimer sur ces « événements » et aborder de façon plus générale les questions liées à la sexualité dans l'établissement. Les séances de travail animées par l'auteur de l'étude et une assistante de recherche psychanalyste ont fait l'objet d'une prise de notes et ont été retranscrites pour être ensuite restituées aux participants. L'analyse de contenu thématique des retranscriptions des séances a permis de mieux comprendre les obstacles psycho-sociaux à la communication sur la sexualité, les difficultés subjectives liées à la prise de parole, les phénomènes de négation de la sexualité ainsi que les représentations de la sexualité en situation institutionnelle. Les documents discutés ici invitent à la réflexion sur la complexité du recueil d'informations et de récits sur la sexualité, explorent les processus de communication et notamment les difficultés à communiquer autour des questions de sexualité et d'abus sexuels dans des institutions du secteur sanitaire et social. Ce travail propose des pistes de travail clinique d'accompagnement des équipes concernées et confrontées à des événements traumatiques et aux difficultés personnelles et professionnelles qui surgissent de ces situations. Talking about sexuality in a health care institution is not an easy task insofar as it contributes to the disclosing of the subjective and cultural postures of professionals, in contexts still marked by the absence or lack of professional training on this subject. Talking about sexuality can also endanger or challenge the institution. This paper presents a secondary analysis of what is presented as a form of "clinical ethnography." The materials used in this study were collected in 1996-1997, in the context of a crisis situation caused by the revelation of illicit sexual relations between a head special educator and a young woman labelled as mentally handicapped, in a care institution. In the course of a psychosociological intervention carried out in response to a request from the management of the institution, professionals from different categories were able to express themselves on these "events" and to address, more generally, issues related to sexuality in the institution. The sessions, moderated by the author of the study and a psychoanalytic research assistant, were recorded and transcribed for subsequent feedback to participants. The thematic content analysis of the transcripts of the sessions allowed for a better understanding of the psychosocial obstacles to communication about sexuality, the subjective difficulties related to speaking out, the phenomena of denial of sexuality, as well as the representations of sexuality in institutional situations. The documents discussed here invite reflection on the complexity of collecting information and stories about sexuality in institutional settings. They explore communication processes and, in particular, the difficulties of communicating about sexuality and sexual abuse in institutions in the health and social sector. This study suggests ways in which clinical support can be provided to teams affected by and confronted with traumatic events and the personal and professional difficulties that may arise from such situations. Public bathrooms are key sites for understanding gender identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations that are out of the norm. Research has shown that they are places of discrimination but they also provide opportunities for transgression. Domestic bathrooms, however, have not received much attention. Through the experiences of 27 LGBT+ youth from Bages, an interior region of Catalonia, this research shows how the bathroom at home is a significant place where gender and sexual norms are reproduced and transgressed. Using a qualitative methodology, I examine how LGBT+ youth experience the domestic bathroom, both in the family home and their own home, according to their age, gender, and sexual orientation. The domestic bathroom is shown to be relevant in terms of gender performativity and sexuality and a place of privacy where gender expression is tested and sexual pleasure is enjoyed. Background: Many people can be exposed to sexual violence, but few studies have explored the experiences of men who have sex with men (MSM). This study examines sexual violence among those MSM who use dating apps in Canada. Analysis: A thematic analysis of interviews with 25 MSM reveals common types of sexual violence, and sheds light on how MSM use affordances to deal with or reduce technology-facilitated incidents of sexual violence. The main objective of this quantitative study with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and descriptive scope was to identify the sexual behaviors present in senior adults living in Mexico City and their differences with respect to sociodemographic characteristics, sex, current relationship status, schooling, occupation and family life at home. The non-probabilistic and convenience sample consisted of 120 participating men and women aged 60 and over. The results reveal the presence of various dyadic and genitocentric sexual behaviors in the current sexual sphere of the participants. In addition, some differences are identified by sex (woman - man), education (high school, higher education and postgraduate), occupation (retired / or - worker and current relationship status (with a partner - without a partner). The Journal and Mass Communication Quarterly (JMCQ) has documented the struggle members of marginalized groups face in their quest to be treated equally in media content and careers. In this analysis, we note that the journal's century of articles documents the many historical shifts in the representation and treatment of women and minorities in media settings. Articles emphasize the lack of opportunities for advancement, management issues, and systemic inequities perpetuated by media content and practices. In the manner of Oedipus Rex, the myth of Myrrha—a story about a daughter's initiation of sex with her father—promises to divulge insights about feminine development. Given parallels between these two myths, the author asks why Jung identified Electra rather than Myrrha as the feminine counterpart to Oedipus, and revisits Freud's and Jung's differing interpretations of the incest theme in personality development. To break open the metaphor of Myrrha's incest, the author analyzes a similar account of incest in the Old Testament story of Lot and his wife and finds that they share a theme of female bitterness related to wounding of the mother and its arresting effect on the daughter's maturation. The article then considers the Demeter‐Persephone myth, a tale not of incest but rape in Persephone's initiation into womanhood. In contrast to Myrrha, Persephone's development unfolds with strong maternal support tempered by the opposing claims on her by the masculine. The article draws these stories together to illuminate the archetypal forces that drive feminine development as well as the human affairs that resist and complicate them. Une femme trans est une femme qui a été assignée homme à la naissance, et qui a une identité de genre féminin. La majorité sont demandeuses d'une chirurgie génitale d'affirmation de genre par vulvo-vaginoplastie. L'objectif est de faire une revue de cette chirurgie en s'appuyant sur son historique, puis en présentant les différentes techniques chirurgicales, leur taux de succès et de complications. Une revue de la littérature de type narrative a été réalisée, sur la base d'une recherche bibliographie avec mots clefs de 2000 à 2022 sur Pubmed. La vulvo-vaginoplastie pour femme trans a débuté en 1931, et les premières séries de cas datent de 1969. L'intervention comporte l'excision de peau scrotale, l'orchidectomie, la clitoroplastie, l'urétroplastie, la labioplastie, la dissection recto-vésico-prostatique et la création de la cavité vaginale (réalisé par inversion de peau pénienne et greffe, intestin ou péritoine). Le vulvo-vaginoplastie par inversion de peau pénienne (VPPI) est aujourd'hui, la technique chirurgicale de référence. Elle représente la grande majorité des chirurgies réalisées avec les plus longues durées de suivi. La majorité des femmes trans sont satisfaites de l'intervention sur le plan esthétique (90 %) et fonctionnel (80 %), avec une sexualité active. Les complications majeures sont rares (< 5 %), elles correspondent aux fistules et aux sténoses vaginales. La VPPI constitue la technique chirurgicale de référence avec des résultats globaux satisfaisants, mais un suivi au long court est nécessaire. A trans woman is a woman who was assigned male at birth, and who has a female gender identity. The majority are requesting a gender affirming genital surgery by vulvo-vaginoplasty. The objective is to review this surgery based on its history, then by presenting the different surgical techniques and their success and complication rates. A narrative review was performed, based on a bibliography search with keywords from 2000 to 2022 on Pubmed. Vulvo-vaginoplasty for trans women began in 1931, and the first case series date from 1969. The procedure includes excision of scrotal skin, orchiectomy, clitoroplasty, urethroplasty, labioplasty, recto-vesico-prostatic dissection and creation of a vaginal cavity (performed by penile skin inversion and graft, intestine, or peritoneum). Vulvo-vaginoplasty by penile skin inversion (VPPI) is today the reference surgical technique. It represents the vast majority of surgeries performed with the longest follow-up. The majority of trans women are satisfied with the procedure aesthetically (90%) and functionally (80%), with an active sexuality. Major complications are rare (< 5%), they correspond to fistulas or vaginal stenosis. VPPI is the gold standard technique with satisfactory overall results, but long-term follow-up is requested. ABSTRACT: African literature is distinguished by the emergence of a new generation of female writers. These “rebellious women” brought about a real revolution in the 1980s by taking the story along new paths. It is the Franco-Cameroonian Calixthe Beyala who consecrates this rupture. His novels project the reader into worlds marked by anomie, chaos and excesses of all kinds. Moreover, on the formal level, the stories present themselves under new faces with the marked presence of linguistic earthiness, textual interferences and diegetic incoherence. The effect of recurrence of these thematic and narrative processes makes it possible to postulate the emergence of a postmodern novel. It will then be a question, in this contribution, of trying to distinguish in the novelistic production of Beyala from the formal tendencies, from the types of devices which come into relation with the postmodern writing RÉSUMÉ : La littérature africaine se distingue par l’émergence d’une nouvelle génération d’écrivains féminins. Ces « femmes rebelles » ont opéré dans les années 1980 une véritable révolution en engageant le récit dans des voies nouvelles. C’est la franco-camerounaise Calixthe Beyala qui consacre cette rupture. Ses romans projettent, en effet, le lecteur dans des univers marqués par l’anomie, le chaos et les excès de toutes sortes. De plus, sur le plan formel, les récits se présentent sous de nouveaux visages avec la présence marquée de la truculence langagière, des interférences textuelles et de l’incohérence diégétique. L’effet de récurrence de ces procédés thématiques et narratifs permet de postuler l’émergence d’un roman postmoderne. Il s’agira alors, dans cette contribution, de chercher à distinguer dans la production romanesque de Beyala des tendances formelles, des types de dispositifs qui entrent en relation avec l’écriture postmoderne.

Very little is known about the socio-sexual knowledge and attitudes of adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) and tools to measure these constructs are limited. The purpose of the current study was to compare areas of importance in sociosexual assessment for individuals with ID with those reported approximately twenty (Griffiths & Lunsky, 2000) and forty (Wish et al., 1980) years ago. A total of 42 professionals in the field, including psychologists, clinicians, and staff members who work with individuals with ID completed a questionnaire where they were asked to rate their perceived importance of topics to be included in socio-sexual assessment for individuals with ID. Changes in the importance of topics between years are explored and explained in relation to existing literature on issues of sexuality in society, specifically for individuals with ID. In overall ratings, results suggest that some topics remain valued across years such as inappropriate physical contact, intercourse, body parts, and sexually transmitted infections. Certain changes between years appear to reflect a general increase in the acceptance and understanding of the sexuality of individuals with ID. For instance, topics of sexual orientation, birth control, and adult movies/literature appear to be of much greater importance in 2020. Ultimately, the comparison of topics of importance between years provides an up-to-date portrait of the necessary components of socio-sexual assessment for individuals with ID. The implications of this work highlight that an update in assessment can lead to more current understandings of the needs of this population as well as allow for more tailored approaches to sexual education. L'objectif principal de cette étude qualitative était d'explorer la relation à la sexualité des patientes atteintes d'une endométriose douloureuse. Seize femmes ont participé à un entretien semi-directif qui questionnait leur parcours avec la maladie, leur sexualité, la sphère émotionnelle ainsi que les stratégies de coping utilisées face aux potentielles difficultés. L'analyse thématique de l'ensemble des entretiens a permis de considérer l'impact des douleurs sur la sexualité des femmes atteintes d'endométriose. En effet, elles souffrent de difficultés sexuelles imputables au ressenti douloureux mais également à l'anticipation de cette même douleur. Les stratégies de coping mises en place ne permettent pas un mieux-être et provoquent un cercle vicieux de fixation émotionnelle et cognitive sur la douleur. Ces résultats nous amènent à repenser la prise en charge de la douleur et de davantage considérer l'impact de ce symptôme sur la sexualité des patientes. The main objective of this qualitative study was to explore the relationship to sexuality of patients with painful endometriosis. Sixteen women participated in a semi-structured interview that asked about their experience with the disease, their sexuality, the emotional sphere and the coping strategies they used to deal with potential difficulties. The thematic analysis of all the interviews enabled us to consider the impact of pain on the sexuality of women with endometriosis. Indeed, they suffer from sexual difficulties attributable to the feeling of pain but also to the anticipation of this same pain. The coping strategies put in place do not allow for a better well-being and provoke a vicious circle of emotional and cognitive fixation on the pain. Le cancer du pénis est une maladie rare mais ayant un des plus hauts potentiels de mise en péril de la sexualité parmi les cancers génito-urinaires. Il touche des hommes âgés, souvent actif sexuellement. Sa prise en charge varie selon la gravité de l'atteinte : crèmes cytotoxiques, resurfaçage, curiethérapie, biopsie-exérèse, glansectomie, amputation partielle ou totale. L'impact négatif sur le bien-être et la sexualité est d'autant plus important que la chirurgie est mutilante. Le traitement doit ainsi être le plus conservateur possible, sans compromis oncologique. La prise en charge de la sexualité doit comprendre une information éclairée sur les modalités et les résultats escomptés des traitements conservateurs, une prise en charge des dysfonctions sexuelles associées, l'information sur les possibilités de reconstruction. Penile cancer is a rare condition but has one of the highest potentials among genitourinary cancers for jeopardizing sexuality. It affects older, often sexually active men. Its management varies according to the severity of the disease: cytotoxic creams, resurfacing, brachytherapy, excisional biopsy, glansectomy, partial or total amputation. The negative impact on well-being and sexuality is more important as the surgery is mutilating. The treatment must therefore be as conservative as possible, without oncological compromise. The management of sexuality must include enlightened information on the modalities and expected results of conservative treatments, management of associated sexual dysfunctions, and information on the possibilities of reconstruction. In the aftermath of breast cancer, a mastectomy causes major upheaval in a woman's life. As it affects the breast, a visible organ of femininity, a strategic erogenous zone, and a very invested one in sexual relations, this operation is likely to cause considerable psychological suffering for the latter. This article presents the experiences of three mastectomised women, met in an oncology department in Cameroon. Using the clinical method, semi-structured interviews were conducted with these women using an interview guide. The data collected was transcribed and then analysed using the technique of thematic data analysis, taking into account the specific experience of each woman. The analysis of the data collected highlights a "melancholic" experience of the lost breast which manifests itself in a clinical picture made up of: guilt, sadness, withdrawal, anxious ruminations, loss of self-esteem and altered sexual experience. The Eurovision song Contest (ESC), amongst others, recognises lesbian, gay, bisexual and, trans (LGBT) people internationally. Limited attention has been paid in understanding bisexual and straight male engagement with the event. This article examines how these fans experience shame around their fandom. It argues that the cultural contestation and the associations of the ESC as a widely perceived gay pastime determine how bisexual and straight male fans make visible their fandom. This paper explores how these fans negotiate their fan and sexual identities in domestic and public spaces, and through digital objects, such as laptops, televisions, and social media platforms. It reflects on the positionality of the gay male fan researcher when conducting interviews with straight male ESC fans. The findings prompt further discussions regarding the technological distinctions between social media 'apps' and how users use their respective interfaces to limit exposure to shaming for their fandom and/or sexual orientation. When counselling adolescents, empathy and age-appropriate information on medical confidentiality are important. Addressing individual needs and wishes enables the targeted use of the necessary information and resources and is the best guarantee for successful contraception over time. The goal is to make informed decisions and to have a positive experience of successfully protected sexual and reproductive health. The range of suitable contraceptive options is very broad. To make the most of this potential, all methods should be addressed with their advantages and disadvantages, including information on sexually transmitted infections and protection against them. Concerns and questions should be answered comprehensively and openly, and the experiences with sexuality described should be approached without prejudice. COVID19 is inherently geographical in its impact on society. Not only has it deepened pre-existing inequalities and further isolated groups that rely on physical spaces, such as LGBTQ people, the pandemic required a restructuring of multiple forms of time–space relations including activism. Using interview and questionnaires responses from early 2021, we explore the impact of COVID19 on the activities of those expressing concerns about, and opposition to, socio-legal changes related to sexualities and genders in Canada, Great Britian and Ireland. Participants' perceptions of the effects of COVID19 regimes (lockdowns and restrictions) highlight four key trends. First, the biggest group of questionnaire respondents understood their views/activities as unchanging. Second, some participants noted a disengagement with sexual and gender politics. Third, those who were activists before/during COVID19 noted challenges in continuing their activities online with the loss of face-to-face interactions, and how they negotiated new spatialities. Finally, for some participants COVID19 regimes meant either newly engaging in, or increasing their pre-pandemic, activism with time to 'research' and to develop their activities. Further work is needed to investigate if our findings are similar to other groups engaged in other forms of activism and the longitudinal effects and implications of COVID19 geographies on activism. Toronto-based Canadian theatre group Mammalian Diving Reflex produced various editions resulting from its city tour of the performance All the Sex I've Ever Had (shortened as AtS) from 2010 to present, including AtS-International Edition (2014) in Toronto. In this article, Heunjung Lee analyzes the live performance of multiple city editions, most notably AtS-Gwangmyeong (2021), to understand the relational aesthetics and dramaturgy it installs among older community performers, younger creative team members, and the audience. By demonstrating the performative power of aged citizens on stage to document, remember, and combat the ageist perspectives that are deeply rooted in many cultures, including Canada, this and other editions of AtS reveal and counter the ageist stigma around the sexuality of older adults. Heunjung Lee draws on this analysis to reframe non-professional older performers as experts of age/ing, drawing on the notion of "experts of everyday" which describes non-professional performers in Reality Theatre. This new term illuminates the generosity, vulnerability, and power of the older performers who (en)counter ageist perceptions and assumptions against old age by sharing their unique experience and view of ageing, sex, and life. Este artículo presenta los resultados de la macroencuesta de valores, aplicada en 2019 a 11,322 estudiantes de América Latina y el Caribe (de ellos, 406 de Puerto Rico), a 1,041 cubanos y a 2,476 españoles. Estos datos serán comparados con otras preguntas idénticas que se hicieron en 1993 a 36,515 escolares latinoamericanos y caribeños (de ellos, 2,478 puertorriqueños) y a 5,168 españoles. Los temas que se tratan son nacionalismo, prejuicios, racismo, imágenes negativas y positivas sobre la colonización española en América, la confianza en las instituciones, opciones políticas y el cambio de valores en América Latina y Puerto Rico desde 1993 a 2019, en referencia al machismo, la moral sexual, religiosidad y el grado de felicidad. This article presents the results of the values' macro survey results, applied in 2019 to 11,322 students from Latin America and the Caribbean (406 from Puerto Rico), 1,041 Cubans, and 2,476 Spaniards. This paper explores the foundations of psychoanalytic knowledge in its genesis and the question of the human essence: the recognition of a sexual body and a sexual psyche. On the other hand, it addresses the relationship between human identity and sexuality, the drive, its objects, and the diversity of the "perversity" of human sexuality due to the introduction and fall of the signifier in the body. Finally, it proposes a review of anatomy and the biological destiny of bodies to argue that, when it comes to sexuality and Eros, concerning jouissance, there is a scenario in the unconscious which will henceforth be a question of the psychoanalytic theory and praxis. To problematise Western discourses of a homophobic Africa, there is a need to analyse evidence of homophobia and its interplay with other attitudes, in ways that explore contextual differences. Hence, this article offers an original sociological analysis of quantitative data on homophobia in African states, examining how this inter-relates with xenophobia. Social attitudes data are drawn from the Afrobarometer research project as a unique and important source, and compared in five diverse contexts: Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and Zambia. Data are examined from Round 6 (2014–2015) and Round 7 (2016–2018). Findings are interpreted in light of specific national literatures on the relations between sexuality, gender and nationalism, as well as wider critical and postcolonial perspectives – especially conceptualisation of sexual nationalisms, and recent literatures on political homophobia. Whereas analyses of homonationalism in Western societies have explored alignments of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex rights affirmation with anti-immigrant attitudes, this study explores such relationships between homophobic and xenophobic attitudes in alternative patterns within specific African contexts. The analysis delivered not only challenges Western discourses of generalised African homophobia (especially discussing the counterexample of Mozambique) but also advances understanding of the complexity of how attitudes inter-relate in different postcolonial states. Since its beginnings as a parade and protest in 1978, the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has become something of a national juggernaut of queer pride in Australia, as well as an international tourist destination. At the centre of this event is an annual parade through the queer heartland of Sydney, comprised of floats and marching groups of performers. This article will investigate the changing stories told about the Australian nation at this march and its associated commemorative events. Tracing the history of the parade and associated storytelling offers a unique chance to trace the contradictory claims to and contestations over sexual citizenship over 40 years. While recent storytelling at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has often been tied to a pleasing liberal narrative of incremental reform and the recognition of sexual rights within the nation-state, the Mardi Gas parade has actually been a site of continual contestation over the terms of national inclusion and the limits of sexual citizenship. How, then, have the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras queered the sexual and racial dimensions of citizenship in Australia, and what are some of the different historical forces and transformations that have inflected and reshaped these moments? The article analyzes concepts of sexual and gender citizenship emerging in feminist, lesbian, and queer zines in post-socialist Poland. It focuses on oral history interviews and discourses manifested in the following zines: Łechtaczka (Clitoris), girlz get united! (ggu!) and Lesbijki i Geje Międzynarodowa wymiana Przyjaźni (Lesbian & Gay Hospitality Exchange International, L/GHEI). After contextualizing the Polish anarcho-feminist zine scene, this article analyses how post-socialist transnational discourses developed within underground publications. By focusing on ggu! and L/GHEI, it argues that feminist and queer zines reconceptualized sexual and gender citizenship while disrupting binary divisions (such as national/foreign, Eastern post-socialist/Western never-socialist geographies)—from both the anarchist and assimilationist perspectives. The article focuses then on a locally distributed zine: the lesbian-queer Łechtaczka. This publication shows how grassroots concepts of sexual and gender citizenship challenged those imposed by the Polish church–state system, as well as those harbored by misogynistic and homophobic groups of the punk scene. This article ends by highlighting how the analysis of ggu!, L/GHEI, and Łechtaczka allows us to see the complexity of identities and networks emerging in grassroots feminist communities and understand the complicated nature of discourses concerning the local and global reconceptualization of sexual and gender citizenship. Sexuality is a key element of the life of any human being. The present study aims to explore therapists' experience of facilitating discussion of the topics of gender and sexuality in therapy. The design consisted of a qualitative approach using semi-structured in-depth interviews with five participants. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to analyse the transcripts where themes were identified. The results highlighted two superordinate themes and five sub-themes. The first superordinate theme is View from Within with three sub-themes: personal processing, level of comfort and self of the therapist. The World Outside is the second superordinate theme and it includes subthemes of therapy training and facilitating discussion of the topics. Conclusions highlighted that overall, therapists facilitate discussion of matters relating to gender and sexuality with clients. However, they feel unprepared by their training and may be reluctant to engage because of a lack of comfort and knowledge. An awareness of their own facilitation, personal processing and experiences enhances this offering. Despite certain challenges, the findings of this study suggest that therapists engage with these topics and this concurs with existing research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Social networking sites (SNS), where virtual identities can be displayed, hold a growing place among adolescents, both in terms of usage time and of influence on their behavior. This raises questions about the impact on their health and well-being especially regarding risky sexual behaviors. Objective: The aim of the study was therefore to determine the potential impacts of SNS use on sexuality and risky sexual behaviors among adolescents. Method: A systematic review was carried out on the databases PUBMED, Embase, Cochrane and LissA, and 201 references were identified. Among them, 12 studies were selected which included an adolescent sample, at least one measure of SNS use and one measure of sexuality or risky sexual behavior (n = 87,402, mean age = 15.4, 54% girls). Results: The qualitative analysis of these studies found that frequent SNS use is linked to being sexually active. This association was not found for risky sexual behaviors, which were associated only with sexting on SNS. Moreover, SNS could be a place of choice to access health prevention information. Nevertheless, experimental studies would be necessary to reinforce these results, and further studies should investigate social and psychopathological variability in order to define an at-risk adolescent profile. Conclusions: Youth sexuality seems thereby to be impacted by frequent SNS use, but this relation seems to be indirect and linked to several other factors such as peers' behaviors. General practitioners hold a key role in the prevention of risky sexual behaviors especially during the first contraceptive consultation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Évaluer la relation entre le mode d'accouchement et la fonction sexuelle chez les femmes primipares. Étude transversale, descriptive, qui a porté sur des primipares ayant accouché dans notre service, entre 1er janvier et 30 juin 2019. Deux questionnaires ont été utilisés trois mois après l'accouchement : un pour préciser les caractéristiques de la période du post-partum et le deuxième FSFI pour évaluer la fonction sexuelle. Notre population de 116 femmes avait un âge moyen de 27,24 ans. 63 femmes avaient accouché par voie basse. Le souvenir d'accouchement était meilleur pour les femmes ayant accouchées par voie basse par rapport à la césarienne. 93,1 % ont repris leur activité sexuelle au bout de 3 mois du post-partum. Le délai moyen de la reprise de la sexualité était de 7,03 semaines. Les troubles majeurs rapportés au cours du post-partum étaient : les troubles du désir (28,6 %), trouble de l'excitation (13,8 %), les problèmes de lubrification vaginale (29,5 %), les problèmes de l'orgasme (25,8 %), les dyspareunies (38,7 %) et une satisfaction sexuelle diminuée (29 %). On constate plus de troubles de l'excitation, de la satisfaction sexuelle et des dyspareunies après l'accouchement instrumental par forceps. L'atteinte du périnée a un impact négatif sur la fonction sexuelle, avec une différence significative. Notre étude souligne l'impact négatif d'accouchement instrumental et l'atteinte du périnée (épisiotomie ou déchirure) sur la sexualité féminine. To assess the relationship between mode of delivery and sexual function in primiparous women. Cross-sectional, descriptive study, witch focused on primiparous women who gave birth in our department, between Junuary 1 and June 30, 2019. Two questionnaires were used three months after childbirth: one to specify the characteristics of the post-partum and the second FSFI to assess sexual function. Our population of 116 women had a mean age of 27.24 years. 63 women had given birth vaginally. The memory of childbirth was better for women who gave birth vaginally compared to cesarean section. 93.1% resumed sexual activity 3 months post-partum. The average time to resumption of sexuality was 7.03 weeks. The major disorders reported during the post-partum were: desire disorders (28.6%), arousal disorder (13.8%), vaginal lubrication problems (29.5%), orgasm (25.8%), dyspareunia (38.7%) and decreased sexual satisfaction and dyspareunia after instrumental delivery by forceps. Damage to the perineum has a negative impact on sexual function, with a significant difference. Our study underlines the negative impact of instrumental delivery and damage to the perineum (episiotomy or tearing) on female sexuality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Résumé : A l’heure actuelle où les films pornographiques, la pédophilie, le lesbianisme, etc. sont à la portée de tout le monde dans les médias, sans aucune considération d’âge et de culture, les adolescentes, curieuses par nature, cherchent à découvrir et à expérimenter ces réalités en courant de grands risques si elles ne sont pas encadrées efficacement par les parents. D’où la nécessité pour les parents de s’approprier l’éducation sexuelle des leurs filles. C’est à cette conclusion que nous sommes arrivé après avoir constaté à l’issu d’une enquête auprès de 150 parents que, ces derniers prodiguent des conseils sporadiques à leurs filles mais qui ne relèvent pas véritablement de l’éducation sexuelle.

La femme africaine est longtemps restée sous la tutelle de l’homme. Ce dernier est le porte-flambeau de la société, c’est-à-dire qu’il est la seule voix autorisée à prendre des décisions au sein de la société ; la femme quant à elle est réduite au silence. Les femmes africaines subissent des formes de violences multiples : l’oppression, l’assujettissement, les mariages forcés entres autres. C’est un système social et économique où l’action des femmes se cantonne à la sphère privée, à la différence des hommes qui gèrent le domaine public et politique. Il s’agira dans cet article de la remise en cause des règles sociétales du statut de la femme ensuite la revendication de la place féminine, le désir d’émancipation et d’affirmation féminine.

Freud's proposition of the Oedipus complex raised a controversial debate around the universal validity of this construct and its scope as an invariable outside the European-civilizing framework. This article aims to locate the particularity of Frantz Fanon's contribution to this debate. The hypothesis is that, through the sentence that proclaims the insufficiency of Oedipus in the domains of colonization, Fanon finds ways to enunciate the disregard of racial difference in psychoanalysis. In a perspective that is based on a methodology of bibliographic research, we assume a critical line that connects the complex in question to the Lacanian notion of the mirror stage. With this, we will show how the refusal of the Oedipal model serves Fanon to circumscribe the limits of an abstract model that, disregarding the racial marking, does not pay attention to the difference of the colonial situation, which manufactures the black in a condition of subalternity. For the black one, the trauma does not result from a re-edition of Oedipal mechanics but from meeting with the white world. Thus, at first, we will present Fanon's critique of Oedipus and then point out how it individually reflects Fanon's interlocution with Lacan's first formulation of the imaginary. Finally, we will indicate how central elements of the complex - sexuality, and narcissism - allow Fanon to present the construction of the black as a myth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although the socio-political histories of the Opium Wars (1839-1842 and 1856-1860), Canadian Pacific Railway, and 1885 Royal Commission on Chinese Immigration have been studied, they have not often been interconnected. This article examines these socio-political histories at the intersection of sexual and race subject-making, alongside Canadian nation-building. I investigate Chinese coolie labour, the opium trade, and sexuality by analyzing historical records from both the British and Canadian Houses of Commons. The indexing of sodomy in the 1885 Royal Commission of Chinese Immigration: Report and Evidence illustrates the simultaneous racialization and sexualization of Chinese bachelor communities. I argue that the deeming of practices and desires as perverse was used to justify the alienation and exclusion of full citizen-subjects. In this examination of these histories of racialization, abstraction of labour, and the perverse alienation of bodies in settler colonial territory, I offer the term "perverse aliens" to nuance early Chinese migration. La question des grossesses adolescentes en milieu scolaire demeure un sujet d'actualité dans plusieurs pays en développement. Chaque année, des dizaines de cas de ces grossesses sont enregistrés dans les établissements scolaires au Togo. Le présent article s'intéresse à l'environnement familial des élèves dans l'explication du phénomène de grossesses précoces en questionnant l'effectivité des discussions parents-enfants sur la sexualité ainsi que leurs effets sur la persistance des grossesses adolescentes en milieu scolaire. Il se fonde en outre sur les données de l'enquête Les approches multisectorielles pour prévenir les grossesses précoces dans les collèges au Togo réalisée par l'Unité de Recherche Démographique de l'Université de Lomé en 2018. Les résultats révèlent que, - étant socialisés dans un contexte où la sexualité est un sujet tabou -, les parents discutent peu des sujets relatifs à la sexualité avec leurs adolescent.e.s. Ce silence qui, selon les parents, vise à préserver le plus possible les adolescent.e.s de la pratique de sexualité comporte cependant un revers pour ceux-ci, car au lieu d'être informés au sein de l'unité familiale avec toutes les explications possibles, ils/elles la découvrent plutôt via des canaux incontrôlés (médias, réseaux sociaux) ou des tiers qui ne sont pas nécessairement les meilleurs canaux d'apprentissage sur la vie sexuelle, d'où (en partie) la recrudescence des grossesses adolescentes en milieu scolaire au Togo. The issue of school pregnancies remains a hot topic in many developing countries. Every year, dozens of cases of teenage pregnancy are recorded in schools in Togo. This paper focuses on the family environment of students in the explanation of the phenomenon of early pregnancies by questioning the effectiveness of parent-child discussions on sexuality as well as their effects on the teenage pregnancies persistence in school. It is further based on data from the survey "Multisectoral approaches to prevent teenage pregnancies in secondary schools in Togo" conducted by the Demographic Research Unit of Lomé University in 2018. The results revealed that, – being socialized in a context where sexuality is a taboo subject – parents rarely discuss subjects relating to sexuality with teenagers. This silence which, according to parents, aims to preserve adolescents as much as possible from the practice of sexuality, however, has a setback for them, because instead of being informed within the family unit with all the possible explanations, they rather discover it via uncontrolled channels (media, social networks) or third parties which are not necessarily the best channels for learning about sexuality, hence (partly) the resurgence of teenage pregnancies in schools in Togo.
