Drawing on both the Precarious Manhood Thesis and the Coalitional Value Theory, the current study investigates whether masculine personality traits moderate the association between status threat and men's readiness to use anti-gay slurs. A sample of heterosexual male university students (N = 139) was recruited from two English-speaking universities in Montreal, Quebec, and Houston, Texas. Participants completed questionnaires and randomly received either status threatening or status confirming feedback. Next, after reading vignettes describing heterosexual men behaving in ways that might jeopardize their status, participants reported their estimated probability of calling the target character a "fag" or "faggot." Findings revealed a significant interaction effect. That is, only among participants high in masculine personality traits, those in the threat condition indicated significantly greater readiness to use anti-gay slurs relative to those in the status affirmation group. These findings contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of men's anti-gay slur usage grounded in a status striving motive paired with distinct personality features. Future research directions are discussed.

Previous studies conducted in Western nations revealed significant gender and sexual orientation differences in experiences of sexual minority stress. However, few studies have focused on the identity of asexual people. Confucian culture has exerted important influences on the formulation of sexual minority identity in China, but less is known about sexual minority identity among Chinese sexual minorities. This study, using Chinese sexual minority samples, aimed to test whether it is consistent with the findings in Western culture that males and bisexual minorities had more negative sexual identities than females and lesbian/gay individuals; asexual people were also included to extend the lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) identity to sexual minority identity. We further tested whether asexual people, similar to bisexual people, have more of a negative identity compared with lesbian/gay individuals. Eight hundred seventy-three participants (464 lesbian and gay men, 200 bisexual and 209 asexual people) completed the Lesbian and Gay Identity Scale (LGIS) or the Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Identity Scale (LGBIS). The results showed that bisexual people had a more negative identity than the lesbian and gay male people. Asexual people showed similar patterns to bisexual people in terms of sexual minority identity when compared with lesbian and gay male people, but they reported less Difficulty Process than did the bisexual people. The findings of this study indicate the cross-cultural consistency of sexual minority identity in terms of gender and sexual orientation.

In this article I document the main German parties' 2021 election platforms regarding gender and sexuality. These manifestos contained considerably different portrayals of gendered inequalities in the Federal Republic, preferred diverse roles for the state in ameliorating gendered inequalities, and called for state action in distinct spheres. Parties also generally viewed 'women' and 'LGBTI' people as homogeneous entities rather than intersectional groups. I conclude by discussing how the differences among the Social Democrats, Greens, and Free Democrats were reconciled in the 2021 coalition agreement. Research on anglicisms in Polish has nearly a century-long tradition, yet it was Jacek Fisiak's 1960s-1980s studies on English loanwords that initiated continuous academic interest in anglicisms, coinciding with more intensive English-Polish language contact in post-war Poland. While English loans have been well-researched in the last four decades, the ongoing intensity of English lexical influence on Polish, yielding not only new loans but also new loan types, calls for further studies, especially in the area of quickly developing professional jargons and sociolects. The influx of English-sourced lexis is reflected in the diversity of semantic fields, whose number has grown from 18 (identified in Slownik warszawski 1900-1927) to 45 (Manczak-Wohlfeld 1995). A semantic field that has been underresearched in studies on Polish anglicisms is the LGBTQ+-related lexis, which has drawn from American English gayspeak, shaped by the post-Stonewall gay rights movement initiated in the 1970s. The language data analysed in this study have been collected in a two-stage procedure, which included manual extraction of anglicisms sourced in a diversified corpus of LGBTQ+-related written texts, published in Polish between 2004 and 2020. The second stage involved oral interviews which served a verification function. The aim of this study is to contribute to the lexicographic attempts at researching English-sourced LGBTQ+-related vocabulary in Polish through its identification, excerption, and classification. Assuming an onomasiological approach to borrowing, we arrange LGBTQ+-related anglicisms on a decreasing foreignness scale to identify the borrowing techniques adopted by the recipient language speakers in the loan nativization process. We also address issues related to the identification and semantics of loans, and sketch areas of research on loan pragmatic functions that need further studies. This article reflects on the way that young people with LGBTQ2S+ parents engaged in the writing of an original song as a form of gender and sexual diversity education during an applied theatre research project. The creative work was self-revelatory, deeply personal, and created a powerful space for both self-exploration and youth-led advocacy. Participants believed that queer is to be celebrated, embraced, and owned. Not as a marginal identity that needs to be questioned and explained, but as an embodied site of emergence and becoming. The song that was written during this workshop celebrates unique family formations while also suggesting that everyone is different in their own way. In doing so, songwriting as affective practice engaged participants in a subversive and empowering reordering of their world. The emergence of new possibilities materialized by centring the stories of, by, and for youth participants as we navigated the tensions between authorship, aesthetics, and pedagogy. Peer victimization and suicide continue to be prevalent public health issues that affect adolescents across the United States (Espelage & Holt, 2013; Kaminski & Fang, 2009). Peer-victimization has been defined [...], Research about students with disabilities and students identifying as LGBQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, or questioning) reveals that both populations report more suicidality and peer victimization and less school connectedness than do their peers. No study has previously examined the intersection of these identities with regard to peer victimization, school connectedness, and suicidality. Using a sample of 11,364 high school students, we examined the relationships among these identities, peer victimization, and school connectedness with suicidal ideation. Compared with their peers without either identity, students identifying with one of these identities reported higher levels of suicidal ideation. School connectedness and peer victimization each moderated the association between identity and suicidal ideation. In addition, students who were victimized more than their peers and who identified both with a disability and as LGBQ (n = 250) reported the highest levels of suicidal ideation. School-based victimization and suicide prevention programs should consider students' multiple identities.

This article documents the precariousness of a queer undocumented family attempting to make their lives within racist heteronormative regimes in the United states. Using film as a methodology by which to engage their experiences and trace their memories of violent encounters with the state, it highlights the nuanced afterlife of 'unspectacular' forms of state violence mediated by race, gender and sexuality. Conceptualizing the state as a system of discourses and bodily practices diffused in the everyday, I make legible the depths to which violence materializes in their bodies. The acts of sobrevivencia, or of survival, they enact as inassimilable subjects traversing the violent myriad of geographically and corporeally inscribed borders, suggests these moments of state encounters are not exceptional. Rather, they point to the ease with which heteropatriarchal lines of race, sexuality, and gender are drawn and given coherence within a presumed multicultural society. Implications for the field, policy, and treatment of victims and perpetrators of LGBTQ intimate partner violence are discussed.
