Cognitive development of the children is affected from genetic and environmental factors. The potential of the cognitive development of children is genetic but it has been determined that sufficient nutrition and rich stimulants have positive effects on cognitive development. The factors such as nutrition, education, genetic, environmental factors, and illness prevalence are the elements that affect the growing and subsequent life of the children. The new studies on neurotic behaviors and human growing showed that nutrition has important effects on physical, sensoral, and cognitive development of the children. To determine the secondary school students' personal and nutritional features, we used The Statistical Packet for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 17.0 packet program. We used number and percentage to understand if there is a difference between the nutrition habits and socio-economic factors of the students, and chi-square test to determine the difference between two independent groups we used independent samples "t" test. As a result nutrition education should be considered as one of the elements of formal and common-public education. The affect of adequate and well balanced nutrition cannot be denied. The best indicator of the effect of adequate and balanced nutrition on learning is not to avoid or to pass the breakfast. Especially habit of having breakfast should be given to the children and schools should have breakfast programs. It can be said that to achieve the best quality in basic education, adequate and well balanced nutrition has a great effect on brain development and cognitive functions.

76 ÖZET Sekiz haftalık müsabaka dönemi antrenmanının CRP, hemogram ve bazı fiziksel özellikler üzerine etkisinin araştırılması amacıyla yapılan çalışmaya yaş ortalamaları (20,6±3,37 yıl), boy ortalamaları (163±6,30 cm.), kilo ortalamaları (58,73±4,92 kg.) olan Kayseri Erciyes Üniversitesi birinci lig bayan hentbol takımından 15 bayan sporcu gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Deneklerin tam kan parametreleri Kayseri Göğüs Hastanesinde alındı. Alan testleri ise Kayseri Süleyman Demirel Kapalı Spor Salonunda yapılmıştır. Deneklerin lökosit, lökosit alt grup değerleri ve CRP tayinleri yapılmıştır. Deneklerin aerobik kapasitelerinin taini 20 metre mekik koşusuyla tespit edilirken anaerobik güçleri dikey sıçrama testi ile tespit edilmiştir. Deneklerin tam kan parametrelerinden (wbc, rbc, hgb, hct, pit),, eritrosit (xl06/ul ), lökosit (xl03/ul), hemoglobin (g/dl), hemotokrit (%), trombosit (xl0 /ul) Roshe Sismex 2000 XLI kit ve cihazı kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Alman kan örnekleri CRP için biokimya tüplerine konularak 3000 r.p.m de 5 dakika sanrifuje edilmiştir. For 8 weeks during competition training period; this study aimed to investigate the effect of exercise on CRP, hemogram, and some physical features. The complete blood parameters of the exercise group have been taken by Kayseri Chest Hospital. Field tests have been done in Kayseri Süleyman Demirel Sport Saloon. We have examined the leucocyte, the lower groups of leucocyte, and CRP. The aerobic capacity of the group was tested with a 20 meter shuttlerun test, and anaerobic capacity was tested with vertical jumping tests. The complete blood parameters of the group ( WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT,PLT ) were determined by using Roshe Sismex 2000XL device; erythrocyte ( xl06/ul ),leucocyte( xl03/ul ) hemoglobin (g/dl),hematocrit (%),thrombocyte ( xl03/ul ) The blood samples were put in biochemistry tubes for CRP and decomposed (sanrifuje) in 3000r.p.m for 5 minutes. As a result; exercise has a possitive effect on athletes during competition period exercises; especially on CRP and other blood parameters. Bu çalışma 1 1-14 yaş grubu erkek İşitme Engelli olan ve olmayan çocuklar üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Uygulamaya 30 işitme Engelli ve 30 normal ( engelli olmayan) çocuk tesadüfi yöntemle seçilmiştir. Grupların antrenman öncesi ve sonrası görsel reaksiyon süreleri New Test 100 aleti kullanılarak tespit edilmiştir. Engellilerin antrenman öncesi ve sonrası değerlerinin istatiksel işlemleri sonucunda anlamlı bir gelişme tespit edilmiştir ( p0.05 düzeyinde anlamlı bir gelişme tespit edilememiştir. Engellilerde sol el görsel reaksiyon zaman ölçümü sonucunda T değerinde 2.56 lık sağ el, görsel reaksiyon zaman ölçümünde 2,89 luk gelişme tespit edilmiştir. Bu gelişme ( p0.05). Engelli ve normallerin sol el görsel reaksiyon zamanlan karşılaştırıldığında T 0.03 değeri engellilerin lehine gelişmiş olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Engelli ve normallerin sağ el görsel reaksiyon zamanları karşılaştırıldığında T 0.90 değeri engellilerin lehine gelişmiş olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar ışığı altında. 8 hafta süre ile haftada 3 gün uygulanan çabukluk antrenman programı ile işitme engellilerin görsel reaksiyonlarında anlamlı gelişme kaydedilirken, normallerde anlamlı bir gelişme olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunun sebebi ise: engellilerin normallerle aralarında ki fiziksel ve sosyal farklılıkları ortadan kaldırmak ve engellerinden dolayı eksikliklerinin olmadığı ispatlamak amacı ile büyük bir hırs ve azimle çalışmalarına bağlanmıştır. WOS: 000428564800017, PubMed: 29910322, This research was conducted to examine the anthropometric and biometric features of the elite wheelchair basketball players in different league levels, and to evaluate them with regards to field tests particular to wheelchair basketball. A sample of 21 male players volunteered to participate in the research with similar classification points, 12 of whom were from Turkey Wheelchair Basketball First League and 9 of whom were from the Second League. Anthropometric measurements, biometric features of the players and their skill test scores particular to wheelchair basketball were detected. The anthropometric measurements were taken over dominant extremity. SPSS 21.0 program was used in the analysis of the data, and minimum, maximum, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation values were determined. Intergroup differences were determined with Mann-Whitney U analysis. Significance level was admitted as p < 0.05. As a conclusion, it was determined that wheelchair basketball players had similar anthropometric features in the First and Second League levels, and that there was no difference based on the league level they were playing, and moreover, that bio-motor features and skills particular to wheelchair basketball were decisive on the levels of the leagues the players were taking part.

WOS: 000459931700002, Purpose: This study aimed at examining the effects of preparation period exercises, which were applied for eight weeks to elite level taekwondo athletes, on the hematological parameters. Material: Totally 21 athletes with international degrees from the university taekwondo team participated in this study, 12 of whom were female (Mean age: 20.3 - Mean exercise age: 8.8) and 9 of whom were male athletes (Mean age: 20.3 - Mean exercise age: 9.5). The participants attended an 8-week exercise program for 5 days a week, which included basic motoric features and technical and tactical development. 4 cc blood samples were taken from the right antecubital vein before and after the preparation period exercises. On the blood samples,WBC, GRAN, GRAN %, LYM, LYM %, MID and MID % values were examined among leukocyte sub-groups; RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDWC values were examined among the erythrocyte sub-groups, and PLT, MPV, PCT and PDW values were examined among thrombocyte sub-groups. Results: At the end of the study, we determined that there was a statistically significant increase in the MCHC values of both the male and the female taekwondo athletes. Moreover, it was determined that there were statistically significant decreases in the HCT, MCV, MCH, MPV and PCT values of the female taekwondo athletes, and in the MCV, MPV and PCT values of the male taekwondo athletes. Conclusions: As a conclusion, we can state that the 8-week exercises applied during the preparation period affected the hematological parameters of the male and female taekwondo athletes to an extent, however, this effect was limited and it did not cause an important change.

WOS: 000298559200031, The aim of this study was to determine the preventive role of melatonin on several blood parameters after irradiation exposure in rats. A total of 100 adult Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups. One group was used as control and other groups were treated with 60, 90, 120 and 160 cGy/min of radiation, respectively. A dose of 4 mg/kg of melatonin was administered subcutaneously to 10 rats from each group exposed to different amounts of radiation. Saline was administered to 10 rats from the control group. 20 days after the completion of the 10-day experiment, the rats were sacrificed and blood samples were collected for determination of erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit and thrombocyte levels. In the group that received 60 cGy-radiation, the number of erythrocytes were similar to the control group, whereas the leukocyte and thrombocyte counts were increased. In the 90 cGy-radiation exposed rats, erythrocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit values were low as compared to the controls. WOS: 000294614000005, Football is the most popular sport in the world. Foot morphology and foot preference are important factors in football player's performance. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the foot morphology of elite football players with different foot preferences. 407 male football players participated in this study. 328 of them preferred their right foot, while 79 of them preferred the left one. Eleven anthropometric measurements were taken from each foot with standard anthropometric methods. Foot length, T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5 lengths, foot circumference of right and left feet and right foot width of right foot preference group were higher than those of left foot preference group, which is statistically significant (p < 0.05). Left foot measurements of right foot preference group were interestingly higher than those of the right side. It was suggested that these data may be useful to define the foot morphology of elite football players.
