Fibrous osteodystrophy is a metabolic disease that characterized marked bone resorption with fibrous tissue proliferations, cysts formations and insufficient mineralization of immature bone. Nutritional fibrous osteodystrophy was developed in 37 goats from two different goat flocks in Isparta in Turkey. The aim of this study was to examine clinicopathological findings and treatment of this rare disease. Affected animals were between 2-4 months of age and were normal at birth. Clinical signs were started about 2 months of age and characterized by mandibular and maxillary enlargements, softening of the bones (especially facial bones), varying degrees of mouth opening and protruding tongue, dyspnea, leg deformities, exophthalmos, and mastication problems. Exophthalmos was seen in 13 kids due to enlargement of facial bones into the cavum orbita. Leg deformities were observed in 11 kids and they had walking problems. Blood calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, alkaline phosphatase, vitamin D3 and parathormone levels were examined. Affected animals had increased levels of phosphorus and parathormone, as well as higher alkaline phosphatase activity. 23 kids died from the disease and 10 of them were necropsied. At necropsy, bilateral enlargement of the maxilla and mandibula, leg deformities and incomplete rib fractures were observed in kids. Histopathologically, severe diffuse proliferation of loose connective tissue surrounded the osteoid trabeculae, many of which were partially or completely non mineralized and accompanied by numerous osteoclastic giant cells. Soil analysis of the pasture revealed marked decrease in calcium level (1%). The newly born and under the one month of age kids in the flocks (totally 527 goat kids) were treated with Ca and Vit D. No new cases were observed after treatment, Fibröz osteodistrofi belirgin kemik rezorpsiyonu ile birlikte fibröz bağ doku proliferasyonları, kist formasyonları ve olgunlaşmamış kemik dokunun yetersiz mineralizasyonu ile karakterize metabolik bir hastalıktır.

Çalışmanın hayvan materyalini, her iki cinsiyetten, 2-5 yaş aralığında toplam 45 adet Saanen ırkı keçi oluşturdu. Çalışma grubunda 35, kontrol grubunda ise 10 hayvan değerlendirildi. Bütün hayvanlardan EDTA'lı tüplerle alınan kanlarda tam kan sayımları yapıldı. Ayrıca toplanan serumlarda interlökin 6, interlökin 10, serum amiloid A, haptoglobin, fibrinojen ve hepsidin değerleri ölçüldü. Sonuç olarak gruplar arası interlökin 6 (p

In this study, a virological investigation was performed Burdur district on canine parvovirus (CPV) infection progressing with dehydration, severe hemorrhagic enteritis, vomiting and high fever. For this purpose, feces samples were collected from 117 puppies that are owned or kept in Burdur animal shelter, having different race and gender aged between 1-11 months old and not vaccinated against the so-called infection. As a result of the evaluation of the samples using double antibody sandwich ELISA (DAS-ELISA) method, canine parvovirus antigen was detected in 3.42 % (4/117). Distribution of antigen positivity rates according to gender were found as 8.82 % (3/34), 1.20 % (1/83) respectively for males and females. This study proved the prevalence of CPV infection in the least around Burdur district., Bu çalışmada Burdur yöresinde yavru köpeklerde dehidrasyon, şiddetli hemorajik ishal, kusma, myokarditis ve yüksek ateşle seyreden canine parvovirus (CPV) enfeksiyonu virolojik olarak araştırıldı.

A clinical, hematological and pathological study was carried out on a bovine case of diabetes mellitus (DM) presenting clinical sings of polydipsia, polyuria, glycosuria, hyperglycemia, progressive emaciation and decreased milk yield. The body temperature, heart and respiratory rates were in normal range. Also there was no significant change in hematological values. Prior to slaughter; blood and urine samples were taken twice 48 hour interval from the cow. At necropsy, liver was pale and enlarged. Multiple small white foci were observed on the cortical area of the kidneys. Lung edema and foamy exudates in the lumen of the trachea and bronchus was present. At the gross examination pancreas was in normal appearance. Histopathologically reduced number and size were observed at the pancreatic islet localized in all pancreatic lobes. Decreased cell number observed in the Langerhans islets. Vacuolization and degenerations at the beta cells were commonly seen. Immunohistochemical study of pancreatic tissue revealed a marked reduction in the concentration and distribution of insulin, proinsulin, and amylin, but an increase in glucagon secreted cells. According to the clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical findings, a combination of diabetes mellitus and multiorgan damage were diagnosed in a cow, Çok su içme, çok idrar yapma, ilerleyen zayıflama ve süt veriminde azalma şikayetleri ile kliniğe getirilen diyabetli bir inekte klinik, hematolojik ve patolojik incelemeler yapıldı.

ACUTE PHASE PROTEIN,CATTLE,STRESS - Abstract
Stress occurs with the pressure of external and internal (infectious or non-infectious) causes which forces change in animals. This stress not only emerge with behavioral or clinical signs, but also will result with immune response formed by body. Understanding and evaluating this subclinic response is also possible with the help of Acute Phase Proteins (APP-AFP) which are released by tissues and organs when exposed to external and internal changes as well as known hormonal changes. Cattle are fed because of their economical importance and the inflammatory processes have influence on their yield levels. Because the stress is laying under all these health problems, also it is getting attention how stress effect the animals. Stress can be divided into main four groups: physical (mechanical), inflammatory (infectious), behavioral and other stress factors. The main APPs which all groups mostly using in their studies are serum amyloid A (SAA) haptoglobin (Hp), ceruloplasmin (Cp), fibrinogen (Fb), lipopolisakkarit binding protein (LBP) ve α1-Acid Glycoprotein (AGP).

- Abstract
Objective. In this study, it was aimed to compare the effectiveness of Hydroxyethyl Starch (HTS), HTS +7.2% NaCl combination and Ringer Lactate solutions in the treatment of hypovolemic calves with diarrhea. Materials and methods. A total of 21 holstein calves (12 female, 9 male, weighted 28-52 kg), at the age of 0-30 days, were enrolled in the present study. The calves were randomly divided into 3 groups. Calves in the first group received HTS (10 mL / kg), calves in the second group received Hydroxyethyl starch + 7.2% NaCl combination (4 mL/kg) and calves in the third group were treated with lactated Ringer’s solution (32 mL/kg) intravenously. Calves in each group were administered with oral rehydration solution immediately, and at 8th and 16th hours after intravenous applications. Clinical examinations and laboratory findings were obtained at 0 hour, 30th minutes, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 12th and 24th hours respectively. Results. Calves in all groups achieved clinical remission with a positive response to treatment and there was no statistically significant difference in the vast majority of the variables examined, although dehydration, capillary refill time, mental status and pulse quality were better in hydroxyethyl starch group and especially in hydroxyethyl starch + 7.2% NaCl group than those of Ringer’s lactate group (p<0.05). Conclusions. In the present study, treatment of hypovolemic calves with diarrhea especially with Hydroxyethyl starch and Hydroxyethyl starch + 7.2% NaCl combination along with oral fluid therapy with the electrolyte solution was considered to be practical and effectiveObjetivo.
