Abstract SARS-CoV-2 caused the pandemic situation experienced since the beginning of 2020, and many countries faced the rapid spread and severe form of the disease. Mechanisms of interaction between the virus and the host were observed during acute phase, but few data are available when related to immunity dynamics in convalescents. We conducted a longitudinal study, with 51 healthy donors and 62 COVID-19 convalescent patients, which these had a 2-month follow-up after symptoms recovery. Venous blood sample was obtained from all participants to measure blood count, subpopulations of monocytes, lymphocytes, natural killer cells and dendritic cells. Serum was used to measure cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, anti-N IgG and anti-S IgG/IgM antibodies. Statistic was performed by Kruskal–Wallis test, and linear regression with days post symptoms and antibody titers. All analysis had confidence interval of 95%. Less than 35% of convalescents were anti-S IgM+, while more than 80% were IgG+ in D30. Anti-N IgG decreased along time, with loss of seroreactivity of 13%. Eosinophil count played a distinct role on both antibodies during all study, and the convalescence was orchestrated by higher neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and IL-15, but initial stages were marked by increase in myeloid DCs, B1 lymphocytes, inflammatory and patrolling monocytes, G-CSF and IL-2. Later convalescence seemed to change to cytotoxicity mediated by T lymphocytes, plasmacytoid DCs, VEGF, IL-9 and CXCL10. Anti-S IgG antibodies showed the longest perseverance and may be a better option for diagnosis. The inflammatory pattern is yet present on initial stage of convalescence, but quickly shifts to a reparative dynamic. Meanwhile eosinophils seem to play a role on anti-N levels in convalescence, although may not be the major causative agent. We must highlight the importance of immunological markers on acute clinical outcomes, but their comprehension to potentialize adaptive system must be explored to improve immunizations and further preventive policies.

In late 2019, a new coronaviridae family member officially designated as “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2” (SARS-CoV-2) emerged and began to spread intensely, worldwide. Its rapid spread was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020. Within the coronaviridae family, SARS-CoV-2 is the third highly pathogenic virus that infects human beings, following the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). In this review, the molecular basis for the origin, mode of action, invasion, and organization of these viruses are discussed by using various models. Moreover, the transmission pathways, replication mechanisms, and diagnostic strategies of these viruses are also discussed. The molecular basis of SARS and MERS helps to understand their infection patterns, pathogenic mechanisms with anecdotes on their diagnosis, and future directions. Expectedly, this study would serve the purpose of being a reliable source of information to scientists, clinicians, as well as the general public.

ABSTRACT: Background: We evaluated and compared the cumulative incidence of confirmed COVID-19 cases between oral health professionals and the general population in Brazil. Methods: Secondary data from notification of laboratory unconfirmed and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the National data system for 41 epidemiological weeks were analysed and compared between oral health professionals (dentist + oral health technicians/assistants) and the general population. The cumulative incidences of COVID-19 were obtained by the ratio of the total number of confirmed cases to the total Brazilian population or the population of oral health professionals registered with the Federal Council of Dentistry and adjusted by age. The incidences were then compared. Results: The age-standardised cumulative incidences were 18.70/1000 for oral health professionals and 17.71/1000 for the population, with a ratio of 1.05. The highest incidences were observed in the states of Roraima (67.05/1000), Tocantins (58.81/1000), and Amazonas (58.24/1000). In 14 states, the age-standardised cumulative incidences were higher among oral health professionals than in the general population. There was a decrease in the number of new cases between the 29th and 30th epidemiological weeks in both populations. Conclusions: COVID-19 infections among oral health professionals was similar to that of the general population. However, the cumulative incidence was 5% higher among oral health professionals, varying among Brazilian states. Practical implications: Infection control practices might help lower the risk of contamination in dental settings.

Scientists first identified Human Coronavirus in the year 1965. Then, a study was performed on different human and animal viruses, which were named based on their crown-like appearance. Human coronaviruses are responsible for many children's upper respiratory tract infections. At least five new human coronaviruses have been identified since 2003, including the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, which caused significant morbidity and mortality.1 Per NL and the New Haven, the virus associated with upper and lower respiratory tract disease and likely common human pathogens are identified as the Group-I coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-I). The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-II), which appeared in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, is responsible for Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and causes respiratory symptoms that can feel like a cold, flu, or pneumonia. Geographical transmission of the virus and the sudden increase in cases are much faster than SARS and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). COVID-19 is the first global pandemic caused by a coronavirus causing outbreaks in 211 countries. The vaccine against COVID-19 is an effective prophylactic strategy for controlling and preventing the virus. The vaccine is being developed in about 90 institutions worldwide. This research paper focuses on COVID-19 vaccine development strategies implemented by various institutions and pharmaceutical companies worldwide and regulatory requirements for vaccine approval. This study aimed to investigate the most common Coronavirus pathogens in humans in the third millennium. In this study, all documents in English on pathogenic coronaviruses were examined from the beginning of 2002 to March 27, 2020. Articles were searched through reliable databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Google scholar, Science Direct, Cochrane library, and BioRxiv using the keywords "COVID-19", "Coronavirus 2019", "SARS-CoV," and" MERS-CoV." In addition, reliable health websites, such as WHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), were used to obtain new figures and information on these diseases. A total of 1563 articles and documents were extracted, and after reviewing the full texts of these articles, 100 papers and documents with necessary eligibility were finally selected in the present review study. The outbreak of pathogenic viruses, especially the latest one, i.e., COVID-19, as a severe threat can affect the entire global community, in particular medical staff who are at the forefront of fighting against the virus. It can generally be concluded that coronaviruses have high pathogenesis, with very rapid person-to-person transmission. Since human knowledge is not yet complete about the new type of this virus, i.e., COVID-19, there are no definitive treatments for the virus. The coronavirus main protease (MPro) plays a pivotal role in viral replication and is the target of several antivirals against SARS-CoV-2. In some species, CRCs of MPro enzymatic activity can exhibit biphasic behavior in which low ligand concentrations activate the enzyme whereas higher ones inhibit it. While this behavior has been attributed to ligand-induced dimerization, quantitative enzyme kinetics models have not been fit to it. Here, we develop a kinetic model integrating dimerization and ligand binding. We perform a Bayesian regression to globally fit the model to multiple types of biochemical and biophysical data. The reversible covalent inhibitor GC376 strongly induces dimerization and binds to the dimer with no cooperativity. In contrast, the fluorescent peptide substrate has a minor effect on dimerization but binds to the dimer with positive cooperativity. The biphasic concentration response curve occurs because compared to substrate, the inhibitor accelerates turnover in the opposite catalytic site.

Abstract Background We investigate the long-term effects of SARS-CoV on patients’ lung and immune systems 15 years post-infection. SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is ongoing however, another genetically related beta-coronavirus SARS-CoV caused an epidemic in 2003–2004. Methods We enrolled 58 healthcare workers from Peking University People’s Hospital who were infected with SARS-CoV in 2003. We evaluated lung damage by mMRC score, pulmonary function tests, and chest CT. Immune function was assessed by their serum levels of globin, complete components, and peripheral T cell subsets. ELISA was used to detect SARS-CoV-specific IgG antibodies in sera. Results After 15 years of disease onset, 19 (36.5%), 8 (34.6%), and 19 (36.5%) subjects had impaired DL (CO), RV, and FEF25–75, respectively. 17 (30.4%) subjects had an mMRC score ≥ 2. Fourteen (25.5%) cases had residual CT abnormalities. T regulatory cells were a bit higher in the SARS survivors. IgG antibodies against SARS S-RBD protein and N protein were detected in 11 (18.97%) and 12 (20.69%) subjects, respectively. On 31 December 2019, WHO received inputs of pneumonia cases in Wuhan city of China, but the cause of infection could not be known initially. However, after some time, the medical researchers of China disclosed a novel coronavirus as the cause on 7 January 2020, named "2019-nCoV." The coronavirus (CoV) belongs to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) species that leads to infection, causing illness, which ranges from the common cold to serious sickness. Finally, on 11 March 2020, the WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the outbreak as a pandemic. As the fear and ambiguity rose among companies and firms, the profit rate seemed to be lower due to the COVID-19 global impact. Nearly US$6 trillion in wealth from 24th to 28 February 2020 of the stock market has been wiped out. There was a great decrease in value over the S&P index, which abolished over $5 trillion in the same week. However, the largest 10 companies of S&P faced a loss of $1.4 trillion. The investors make an analytical prediction that firms' profits may drop in response to the impact of coronavirus. The prime focus is on the importance of digital business practices and how different sectors have been affected in terms of economic loss during this pandemic outbreak in this paper. On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced COVID-19 as the sixth public health emergency of international concern, and on March 11, 2020, the WHO declared that COVID-19 is a pandemic. To date, patients with COVID-19 are present in most countries in the world. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The COVID-19 virus and the 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus are approximately about 79% homologous, and their transmission modes are similar, but the transmission speed and range of COVID-19 virus far exceed those of the 2003 SARS virus, causing people to experience panic, anxiety, and depression. After the SARS epidemic, many survivors and medical workers had severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which seriously affected their quality of life. Here, we reviewed the situations of PTSD after the SARS epidemic. The lessons and experiences of PTSD caused by SARS may help deal with the more severe occurrence of PTSD during and after the COVID-19 epidemic.

In the following continuation article, the author will expand on how the mechanisms discussed in Part One capitalise on host characteristics to produce the organ specific damage seen in severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19), with specific reference to pulmonary and cardiac manifestations. Pneumonia is the primary manifestation of COVID-19; presentation varies from a mild, self-limiting pneumonitis to a fulminant and progressive respiratory failure. Features of disease severity tend to directly correlate with patient age, with elderly populations faring poorest. Advancing age parallels an increasingly pro-oxidative pulmonary milieu, a consequence of increasing host expression of phospholipase A2 Group IID. Virally induced expression of NADPH oxidase intensifies this pro-oxidant environment. The virus avails of the host response by exploiting caveolin-1 to assist in disabling host defenses and adopting a glycolytic metabolic pathway to self-replicate. Although not a cardiotropic virus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) can induce arrhythmias, a myocarditis-like syndrome, and myocardial infarction. Monocyte activation as a consequence of a surge of cytokine expression is the driver of these processes. Induced expression of cluster of differentiation 147 (CD147) and TNF-α may also have a role. SARS-CoV-2 fluently harnesses the immune mechanisms of the host to its advantage, rendering it a formidable systemic pathogen. Future effective treatments are contingent upon improved aetiological understanding.

Background: The purpose of this article is to provide insight into the varied extrapulmonary manifestations associated with the novel corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study mainly focuses to identify the most common extrapulmonary manifestations encountered in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia as noted in the Indian subcontinent. Materials and methods: A total of 145 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 disease were retrospectively evaluated for extrapulmonary imaging findings or complications. These patients had undergone various imaging examinations during the course of hospital stay. Images were reviewed using the institutional PACS database system over a period of three months (August to October 2020). Results: Among the 145 patients (91 males and 54 females), 54 patients (37.2%) had extrapulmonary findings or complications on imaging. Various extrapulmonary findings observed are as follows: ischemic brain infarcts (n=12), intracranial hemorrhage (n=5), viral encephalitis (n=1), perinephric fat stranding (n=3), small bowel ischemia (n=1), acute pancreatitis (n=2), splenomegaly (n=15), pericardial effusion (n=2), mediastinal lymphadenopathy (n=9), and pneumomediastinum (n=4). Conclusion: With increasing spread of COVID-19 infection worldwide, it is important to identify the spectrum of extrapulmonary manifestations related to COVID-19 pneumonia in the long run. A clear understanding of the extrapulmonary imaging findings in COVID-19 pneumonia is essential so that the radiologist can make a timely and accurate diagnosis to aid in patient management.

In Part One of this exploration of the pathogenesis of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the author will evaluate the viral and cellular immunological basis for the condition. The virus demonstrates a remarkable capability not just to evade, but to exploit host immune characteristics to perpetuate viral replication. In this regard, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)/severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) disables most antiviral mechanisms, including the early interferon response, and avoids detection to permit unimpeded viral multiplication. Consequently, antigen-presenting cells fail to adequately stimulate the T-cell receptor. As a consequence, T-cell p53 remains highly expressed, which in turn disables an adequate effector T-cell response. Replicating SARS-CoV-2 double-strand RNA robustly activates protein kinase R (PKR)/PKRlike endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK). While the virus is grossly invulnerable to its antiviral effects, PKR is crucial for effecting the cytokine milieu in COVID-19. PERK is a component of the unfolded protein response, which eventuates in autophagy. SARS virions use double-membrane vesicles and adapt PERK signalling not only to avoid autophagy, but to facilitate replication. Viral activation of PKR/PERK is mutually exclusive to NLRP3 stimulation. The NLRP3 pathway elaborates IL-1β. This is chiefly a feature of paediatric SARS/SARS-CoV-2 cases. The difficulties encountered in predicting outcome and forging effective therapeutics speaks to the breadth of complexity of the immunopathogenesis of this virus.

Abstract Background Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a metallopeptidase that primarily functions as a negative regulator of renin angiotensin system (RAS) by converting angiotensin II (Ang II) to angiotensin 1-7. Contrary to this, another RAS component, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) catalyzes synthesis of Ang II from angiotensin I (Ang I) that functions as active compound in blood pressure regulation. This indicates importance of ACE/ACE2 level in regulating blood pressure by targeting Ang II. An outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) highlighted the additional role of ACE2 as a receptor for SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) infection. Main body of the abstract ACE2 is a functional receptor for SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. Activation of spike (S)-protein by either type II transmembrane serine proteases (TTSPs) or cathepsin-mediated cleavage initiates receptor binding and viral entry. In addition to TTSPs, ACE2 can also be trimmed by ADAM 17 (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 17) that competes for the same receptor. Cleavage by TTSPs activates ACE2 receptor for binding, whereas ADAM17 releases extracellular fragment called soluble ACE2 (sACE2). Structural studies of both ACE2 and S-protein have found critical sites involved in binding mechanism. In addition to studies on structural motifs, few single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) studies have been done to find an association between genetic variants and SARS susceptibility. Though no association was found in those reports, but seeing the non-reproducibility of SNP studies among different ethnic groups, screening of ACE2 SNPs in individual population can be undertaken. Short conclusion Thus, screening for novel SNPs focussing on recently identified critical regions of ACE2 can be targeted to monitor susceptibility towards coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Abstract The spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to grow exponentially in most countries, posing an unprecedented burden on the healthcare sector and the world economy. Previous respiratory virus outbreaks, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), pandemic H1N1 and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), have provided significant insights into preparation and provision of intensive care support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Many patients have already been supported with ECMO during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and it is likely that many more may receive ECMO support, although, at this point, the role of ECMO in COVID-19-related cardiopulmonary failure is unclear. Here, we review the experience with the use of ECMO in the past respiratory virus outbreaks and discuss potential role for ECMO in COVID-19.

The genetic diversity of coronaviruses and their variability are provided by high frequency of recombination of their genomic RNA that assists spontaneous emergence of viruses with new characteristics, which potentially may be agents of novel extremely dangerous and exotic infectious diseases. In December 2019 – January 2020 the novel coronavirus disease, caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, subsequently named COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019), was revealed in China. The aim of this work is to analyze the possible mechanism of COVID-19 outbreak and the properties of the possible etiological agent of the disease, SARS-CoV-2 virus. A comparison of zoonotic reservoirs of highly pathogenic human coronaviruses, agents of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and SARS-CoV-2, as well as the clinical signs of the diseases, caused by them, are presented. The possible mechanism of epidemic outbreaks is considered. The chronology of COVID-19 outbreak (later escalated into a pandemic) from the beginning of December to the end of March, taxonomical and molecular-biological characteristics of ethiological agent of disease, SARS-CoV-2 virus, and its place on phylogenetic tree of coronaviruses are presented. The main directions of the struggle with the spread of the infection are considered.

Hong Kong has been recently attacked by the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). In late January 2020, it's shown a steadily increasing trend of confirmed cases. There is a 257 in total infected cases confirmed including 4 deaths until 20th of March 2020. To prevent further outbreak of COVID-19, this article discusses the current understanding of COVID-19 and compares with the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in 2003 of Hong Kong from the causes, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and preventions to study for an applicable measurement to control COVID-19.

Threat of SARS importation and dissemination at the territory of Magadanskaya Province is conditioned first of all by wide international relations with countries of SouthEast Asia carried out through airport and sea trade port. In this connection large organizing and practical activities on the basis of «A complex plan on sanitary protection of Magadanskaya Province territory from importation and dissemination of quarantine and other especially dangerous infections» are realized. All concerned Departments and Services took part in realization of the preventive measures. The developed and realized complex of anti-epidemic and preventive measures allowed to create obstacles to SARS importation on the territory of Magadanskaya Province.

Measures performed in 2003 at the territory of Kamchatskaya Province by a sanitaryepidemiological service, public health authorities and other concerned departments with an active support of the Province administration to prevent importation and dissemination of «atypical pneumonia» in connection with the epidemiological situation aggravation due to severe acute respiratory syndrome morbidity in countries of SouthEastern Asia and Canada are represented. Organizing, preventive and antiepidemic measures, hospital basis preparation, activities of sanitaryquarantine departments on water and air transport are reflected.

The experience of work of the Irkutsk State Surveillance Center together with the town administration for organizing of sanitary-and-anti-epidemic (preventive) measures aiming to well-timed revelation of potential SARS delivery to the territory of the town is presented. Characteristics of cultural-and-economical links of the town with epidemiologically unfavourable in this infection countries is given. Organizing of the work of medicosanitary service at all stages of potential SARS delivery is shown. Complex approach to the increasing readiness of all municipal services and departments is provided by close interaction of he Irkutsk Administration and Surveillance Center. The specific sanitary-and-anti-epidemic and preventive measures conducted in the town during maximum of probability of SARS delivery are described.

Complex epidemiological situation concerning SARS in the world, intensive economical, cultural, tourist contacts with South-Eastern Asia countries, including unfavourable in «atypical pneumonia», arose real threat of its delivery to the territory of Republic of Buryatia. In this connection the surveillance centers of the Republic together with treatment-and-prophylactic institutions, railway health service and institutions of other departments conducted complex of measures for preventing of SARS delivery and spreading on the territory of Republic. These were organizational, anti-epidemic, preventive measures in the border crossing points, in trains from China and Mongolia, in public health institutions, Ministry of Internal Affairs, migratory, frontier, customs, and other services. Large work in training of medical staff in SARS, equipment of sanitary control points and hospital base was held.

Publications, directive and instructionalmethodical papers of WHO, Government and Ministry of Public Health of Russian Federation prepared due to SARS epidemics are reviewed. A brief characteristics of the new disease is represented, the history of the virus discovery, the disease dynamics and SARS dissemination in the world in 2003 are described. Information about SARS suspected cases in Russia and main data on laboratory and clinical epidemiological diagnostics are represented. Measures undertaken for the new disease control are considered in the concluding part of the review. Peculiarities of Siberia and Far East (the region closely connected with the most SARS affected Asian countries) are marked.

Organizing, preventive and anti-epidemic measures performed at the territory of Irkutskaya Province at the period of acute severe respiratory syndrome outbreak in the world are analyzed. The current experience will be used for improvement of the epidemiological surveillance to polish tactics of the preventive and anti-epidemic measures in case of a suspected «atypical pneumonia» patient detection.

A complex of organizingmethodical, medical preventive and antiepidemic measures both at the frontier passing points and on the whole Amurskaya Province prior to detection of a SARS case in Blagoveshchensk City and from the moment of the disease registration to prevent further dissemination of this infection is represented.

Primorski territory is the territory of high risk for probably delivery and spreading of quarantine and other diseases of particular danger, which is conditioned by its geopolitical position characterized by intensive international transport communications with the majority of countries. Complex of organizing, anti-epidemic and preventing measures, which were conducted in the territory during 2003, because of world SARS epidemic is presented. State Surveillance Service cooperation with other Territory services and departments, and with quarantine border service of PRC province is reflected. Antiepidemic measures are described which were held in case of detecting of two suspected SARS patients.

Major activities of sanitary epidemiological service of Jewish Autonomous Region on organization and prevention of SARS importation and dissemination are described. Early measures include preparation of regional normativepractical documents based on analogous papers from Ministry of Public Health of Russian Federation and its introduction to the concerned services and departments. Subsequently, medical personnel training was performed to detection of SARS suspected patients and realization of primary anti-epidemic measures, informing inhabitants about preventive measures. Preparedness of hospital basis and frontier passing points was ensured.

During April-July, 2003 39 specimens of clinical material from six patients and three dead men with suspected «atypical pneumonia» who were detected on the territory of Khabarovsk, Primorski and Sakhalin regions were investigated. The inoculation of clinical material to cell culture Vero E6 did not show the cytopathogenic effect for coronavirus SARS. The amplificate with sought for molecular weight was obtained in RT-PCR assay with primers SAR1 and BNI in sputum and blood specimens of one of the patients, but it was not cDNA of coronavirus SARS. As a result of additional studies there were established the following diagnosis: HFRS, bronchopneumonia with Clebsiella etiology (postmortem) and leptospirosis (postmortem). The terminal diagnosis for the rest patients were: bronchopneumonia of inferior lobes (3), maxillary sinusitis, ARVI and toxocariasis.

The existing programs and plans of sanitary protection of territories and municipalities of Russian Federation are directed to prevention of importation and dissemination of quarantine and other known infectious diseases. Modern organizing-methodical papers of Ministry of Public Health of Russian Federation include both nosological and syndromic approaches to resolution of this problem. SARS epidemic situation in the world with an active focus at Asian-Pacific Ocean Region has tested the Russian sanitary protection system at Far Eastern Region. Data on organization and realization of the measures at the period of SARS epidemic troubles in the world are analyzed. The experience of State Surveillance Centers at water and air transport in Far Eastern Region in co-operation with all transport process participants to prevent importation and dissemination of early unknown especially dangerous infection (SARS) is summarized.

Organizational work concerning prevention of «atypical pneumonia» delivery and spreading at the territory of region had begun in March, 2003 by treatmentandprophylactic and sanitary-and-epidemiology services. Large volume of work on guarantee of readiness of the border passing points, hospitals, and surveillance centers in the region for conducting preventive measures in case of SARS delivery into Sakhalin Region was held during Mach-July, 2003. Great importance was attached to the cooperation of all interested services and departments on account of preventing of «atypical pneumonia» delivery into the region, and also training of medical staff in this infection and explanatory work with population.

Study materials of a new disease epidemic, symbolically named as a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), emerged in the late 2002 at south China are reviewed. The significance of the first patients as the major sources of the infection around which plural foci were formed is shown. Infections happened in hotels, hospitals, multistory dwelling houses and in places of mass crowds. Medical workers are attributed to a group of high infection risk. The role of high-speed transport means in the disease dissemination to short and long distances is established. This infection was imported to 32 countries on five continents, but the secondary epidemic complications occurred only in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and Canada. Global SARS dissemination requires international collaboration and coordination of this infection surveillance system.

Since 2003, coronavirus has caused multiple major public health events that resulted in global epidemics, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS）, Middle East respiratory syndrome （MERS） and corona virus disease 2019 （COVID-19）. Especially since COVID-19 outbroke in Wuhan, Hubei, in December 2019, coronavirus has had a significant impact on people’s health and lives. But so far, the pathological diagnosis of COVID-19 has been relatively deficient： it is still confined to the pathological findings of punctured organs, and the majority of medical workers have poor awareness of its pathological characteristics. The COVID-19, as same as SARS and MERS, is caused by coronaviruses and can cause viral pneumonia. They have certain similarities. This article comprehensively reviews the pathological features observed in the autopsies of the aforementioned three diseases, in order to provide reference to the analysis of pathological changes of COVID-19.

X-linked lymphoproliferative disease (XLP1) is an inborn error of immunity (IEI) with severe immune dysregulation caused by a mutation in the SH2D1A gene resulting in the absence or dysfunction of signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM)-associated protein (SAP). The severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) caused by SARS-coronavirus (CoV), a highly pathogenic CoV, has been shown to only cause mild diseases in Asian children. We report on a 5-year-old Nepalese boy with agammaglobulinemia and probable SARS who died of diffuse alveolar damage 22 days after admission amid the SARS outbreak. The index patient and his younger brother were genetically confirmed to have XLP1. In the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, most children also had mild disease only. Children with severe COVID-19 would warrant investigations for underlying IEI, particularly along the pathways leading to immune dysregulation.

Background: We investigate the long-term effects of SARS-CoV on patients' lung and immune systems 15 years post-infection. SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is ongoing however, another genetically related beta-coronavirus SARS-CoV caused an epidemic in 2003-2004.Methods: We enrolled 58 healthcare workers from Peking University People's Hospital who were infected with SARS-CoV in 2003. We evaluated lung damage by mMRC score, pulmonary function tests, and chest CT. Immune function was assessed by their serum levels of globin, complete components, and peripheral T cell subsets. ELISA was used to detect SARS-CoV-specific IgG antibodies in sera.Results: After 15 years of disease onset, 19 (36.5%), 8 (34.6%), and 19 (36.5%) subjects had impaired DL (CO), RV, and FEF25-75, respectively. 17 (30.4%) subjects had an mMRC score ≥ 2. Fourteen (25.5%) cases had residual CT abnormalities. T regulatory cells were a bit higher in the SARS survivors. IgG antibodies against SARS S-RBD protein and N protein were detected in 11 (18.97%) and 12 (20.69%) subjects, respectively. Subgroup analysis revealed that small airway dysfunction and CT abnormalities were more common in the severe group than in the non-severe group (57.1% vs 22.6%, 54.5% vs 6.1%, respectively, p < 0.05).Conclusions: SARS-CoV could cause permanent damage to the lung, which requires early pulmonary rehabilitation. The long-lived immune memory response against coronavirus requires further studies to assess the potential benefit. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03443102. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the etiologic agent of the current, world-wide coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is the SARS-CoV-2 host entry receptor for cellular inoculation and target organ injury. We reviewed ACE2 expression and the role of ACE2-angiotensin 1-7-Mas receptor axis activity in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) pathogenesis to identify potential COVID-19 influences on AAA disease pathogenesis. A comprehensive literature search was performed on PubMed, National Library of Medicine. Key words included COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, AAA, ACE2, ACE or angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor inhibitor, angiotensin 1-7, Mas receptor, age, gender, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases. Key publications on the epidemiology and pathogenesis of COVID-19 and AAAs were identified and reviewed. All vascular structural cells, including endothelial and smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, and pericytes express ACE2. Cigarette smoking, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lupus, certain types of malignancies, and viral infection promote ACE2 expression and activity, with the magnitude of response varying by sex and age. Genetic deficiency of AT1 receptor, or pharmacologic ACE or AT1 inhibition also increases ACE2 and its catalytic product angiotensin 1-7. Genetic ablation or pharmacologic inhibition of ACE2 or Mas receptor augments, whereas ACE2 activation or angiotensin 1-7 treatment attenuates, progression of experimental AAAs. The potential influences of SARS-CoV-2 on AAA pathogenesis include augmented ACE-angiotensin II-AT1 receptor activity resulting from decreased reciprocal ACE2-angiotensin 1-7-Mas activation; increased production of proaneurysmal mediators stimulated by viral spike proteins in ACE2-negative myeloid cells or by ACE2-expressing vascular structural cells; augmented local or systemic cross-talk between viral targeted nonvascular, nonleukocytic ACE2-expressing cells via ligand recognition of their cognate leukocyte receptors; and hypoxemia and increased systemic inflammatory tone experienced during severe COVID-19 illness. COVID-19 may theoretically influence AAA disease through multiple SARS-CoV-2-induced mechanisms. Further investigation and clinical follow-up will be necessary to determine whether and to what extent the COVID-19 pandemic will influence the prevalence, progression, and lethality of AAA disease in the coming decade. Background: The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), provokes fear, anxiety and depression in the public, which further affects mental health issues. Taiwan has used their experience of the SARS epidemic for the management of foreseeable problems in COVID-19 endemic. Aim/Objective: This review summarizes issues concerning mental health problems related to infectious diseases from current literatures. Results: In suspected cases under quarantine, confirmed cases in isolation and their families, health care professionals, and the general population and related effective strategies to reduce these mental health issues, such as helping to identify stressors and normalizing their impact at all levels of response as well as public information and communication messages by electronic devices. The importance of community resilience was also addressed. Psychological first aid, psychological debriefing, mental health intervention and psychoeducation were also discussed. Issues concerning cultures and religions are also emphasized in the management plans. Conclusion: Biological disaster like SARS and COVID-19 not only has strong impact on mental health in those being infected and their family, friends, and coworkers, but also affect wellbeing in general public. There are evidenced that clear and timely psychoeducation, psychological first aid and psychological debriefing could amileorate negative impact of disaster, thus might also be helpful amid COVID-19 pandemic. Clinic-and-epidemiological characteristics of suspected «atypical pneumonia» cases detected in NovosibirskRegion, organizing of early detection of ill persons and their hospitalizing are presented. Main organizing-methodical and administrative-ordering measures directed on preventing of SARS delivery and spreading on the territory of Region are reflected.The organizational measures for preventing of «atypical pneumonia» allowed to avert its delivery and spreading in the Region, and to conduct the complex of treatment-and-diagnosis and anti-epidemic measures in suspected SARS cases.

Detection in April 2003 a SARS suspected patient in Abakan town (Republic of Khakasiya) indicates that importation of «atypical pneumonia» and other dangerous infectious diseases to any populated locality of Russia is possible due to the present wide international relations.A complex of antiepidemic measures performed in Abakan town and other territories (where contacts were revealed) to prevent SARS dissemination is represented.
