A non-invasive, rapid, accurate, and affordable technique to measure the size of surface-feeding reef manta raysusing small drones. The Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS) in West Papua, Indonesia, is widely recognized as the global epicenter of coral reef biodiversity and is protected by an extensive network of 20 marine protected areas (MPAs) totaling over 4.7 million ha. It is home to large populations of both the reef manta ray Mobula alfredi (Krefft, 1868) and the oceanic manta Mobula birostris (Walbaum, 1792). We document the natural history of manta rays in the BHS and describe the demographics and spatial ecology of Mobula alfredi using underwater and aerial observations.

This article will explore the sustainability of events and festivals on tourism activities held in Cirebon, Indonésia. The city, known as the ‘City of Guardians’, is very popular with religious tourism destinations that are branded for tourism products. Events and festivals that are held on an ongoing basis can become tourist attractions, used as a marketing place, and a strategy to create an image of the destination, thus attracting tourists' visits. The methodology used is the document review approach and trend analysis to observe and analyze the various events and festivals held from 2015 to 2019 and the shariah marketing mix that they apply. This article concludes that the shariah marketing mix in promoting events and festivals from various existing tourism segments, such as religious and traditional tourism, arts and cultural tourism, culinary tourism, nature tourism, and local economic tourism, has demonstrated a new concept for marketing tourism products, which emphasizes aspects of locality and uniqueness. The Sunda Banda Seascape (SBS) in Indonesia’s Coral Triangle is considered one of the top priority marine ecoregions for conservation by the Indonesian government. The region is divided into three subseascapes, which includes the Lesser Sunda Subseascape (LSS), the Southern-Eastern Sulawesi Subseascape (SESS), and the Inner Banda Arc Subseascape (IBAS). The SBS dashboard provides a science-based assessment of the status of 22 indicators grouped within five domains, which includes: (1) enabling conditions, (2) human well-being, (3) ecosystem health, (4) fish and fisheries, and (5) governance, across marine protected areas (MPAs) in the SBS region for 2017. Each indicator is evaluated at MPA level and then scored at the subseascape level using three categories: ‘above average/optimal’, ‘average/ acceptable’, and ‘below average/below optimal’.

Religious, heritage and tourism is a combination of three industry from the perspective of economics that play a role in the development of tourism and has the potential to encourage people's creativity in the economic sector. With a qualitative approach, this study confirms the religious heritage and the creative economy tourism the icon for Cirebon in developing the tourism industry, including travel and religious culture as well as a variety of culinary and crafts.Keywords. To date, comparative studies among species at global scales have mostly focused on horizontal movements. Our study addresses the knowledge gap of vertical movements by compiling the first global synthesis of vertical habitat use by elasmobranchs from data obtained by deployment of 989 biotelemetry tags on 38 elasmobranch species. Elasmobranchs displayed high intra- and interspecific variability in vertical movement patterns. Substantial vertical overlap was observed for many epipelagic elasmobranchs, indicating an increased likelihood to display spatial overlap, biologically interact, and share similar risk to anthropogenic threats that vary on a vertical gradient. We highlight the critical next steps toward incorporating vertical movement into global management and monitoring strategies for elasmobranchs, emphasizing the need to address geographic and taxonomic biases in deployments and to concurrently consider both horizontal and vertical movements, Data analysis was funded by the Bertarelli Foundation through the Marine Science program through grants to D.J.C., B.A.B., and S.A.
