Bu araştırmada yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde ölçme ve değerlendirmeye yönelik çalışmaların eğilimlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma modellerinden doküman incelemesi yönteminde yürütülmüştür. Konuyla ilgili 58 araştırma belirlenmiştir. Veri setine betimsel analiz uygulanmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda araştırmaların 27’sinin makale, 31’inin lisansüstü tezi olduğu, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde ölçme değerlendirmeye yönelik araştırmaların %91’inin 2015-2021 yılları arasında yapıldığı belirlenmiştir. Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde ölçme ve değerlendirme araştırmalarında ele alınan konular alternatif ölçme ve değerlendirme (f=20), ölçme ve değerlendirme aracı geliştirme (f=15), kur ve yeterlik sınavları (f=12) temalarında toplanmaktadır. Araştırma soruları çoğunlukla 1-5 arasındadır (f=31), alt problem sayısı en çok 33’tür. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi (f=19), nicel yöntemlerden betimsel tarama (f=8) sıklıkla kullanılmaktadır. Araştırmaların hedef kitlesinde / inceleme nesnesinde öğrenciler (f=25), öğreticiler (f=12), ders kitapları (f=10) ve öğrenci kompozisyonları (f=10) öne çıkmaktadır. En çok kullanılan veri toplama aracı görüşme formu (f=17) ve alternatif ölçme değerlendirme araçlarıdır (f=17), veri analiz yöntemi doküman analizidir (f=16). Araştırmalarda en sık başvurulan kuramsal dayanak Avrupa Dil Ölçütleri Çerçeve Metni’dir. Konu bakımından sınav geliştirmeye, yeterlik sınavı gibi genel amaçlı sınavları incelemeye, öğreticilerin ölçme değerlendirme yeterliklerini geliştirmeye; yöntem bakımından deneysel ve eylem araştırmalarına yönelim önerilmektedir.

Objective: There were interruptions in the maintenance and access to family planning services globally during the pandemic. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the Family Planning attitude and the fear and the perceived risk of COVID-19 in women of reproductive age. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted face-to-face with 423 women in a training and research hospital in December 2021. In the data collection form; Introductory information form, Attitude towards Family Planning Scale, Fear COVID-19 Scale and COVID-19 Perceived Risk Scale were included. In the analysis of the data, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used. Spearman's Correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationships between scale scores. Results: The mean age of the participants was 36.75±7.56. During the pandemic period, 5.4% (n=23) of the participants stated that they had experienced unplanned pregnancy and 5.7% (n=24) experienced miscarriage. There was a statistically significant negative and weak correlation (r=-0.143; p=0.003) between the Participants' Attitudes Towards Family Planning Methods subscale and the Fear COVID-19 Scale, and the total score of the Attitudes Towards Family Planning Scale and the COVID-19 Perceived Risk Scale There was a statistically significant negative and weak correlation between emotional subscale scores (r=-0.131; p=0.007). Conclusion: Considering the findings such as experiencing unwanted pregnancy and miscarriage during the pandemic process, withdrawal being the most frequently used method among the participants in the last two months, etc., it is considered that there is an unmet need for family planning during the pandemic process.

Bu araştırmanın amacı yabancılara Türkçe öğretiminde uygulanan kur sınavlarını madde yazma ilkeleri açısından betimlemektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemi ile yürütülen araştırmada verilerin analizinde doküman incelemesi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında 12 Türkçe öğretim merkezine ait 871 soru incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda madde yazma ilkeleri açısından 1 TÖMER’in kur sınavlarının uygun olduğu, 11 TÖMER’in uygun olmadığı görülmüştür. İncelenen sorularda 22 farklı sorun belirlenmiştir. Bu sorunlardan bazıları şunlardır: Madde-davranış uyumu olmaması (f=348), seçeneklere ipucu veren ifadeler kullanılması (f=66), yazım kurallarına uyulmaması (f=54), bir maddenin diğerine ipucu oluşturması (f=16), maddelerin mümkün olduğu kadar az kelime ile yazılmaması (f=16). Bu sonuçlara dayanarak öğreticilerin ölçme ve değerlendirme becerilerinin geliştirilmesi ve soruların ölçme değerlendirme uzmanları ile işbirliği içinde hazırlanması önerilmektedir. The aim of this research is to describe the proficiency exams applied in teaching Turkish to foreigners in terms of item writing principles. In the research conducted with the qualitative research method, the document analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data.. Within the scope of the research, 871 questions belonging to 12 Turkish teaching centers were examined. As a result of the research, the exams of 1 institution were found to be in accordance with the item writing principles and while 11 institutions were not. In the questions examined, 22 different problems were determined. Some of these problems are as follows: Lack of item-behavior congruence (f=348), using expressions that hint at options (f=66), not following spelling rules (f=54), one item hinting at another (f=16), items not being written with as few words as possible (f=16). Based on these results, it is recommended to develop the assessment and evaluation skills of the instructors and to prepare the questions in cooperation with assessment and evaluation experts.

Objective: It is considered that evaluation of the stress level, in crisis situations, will provide a valuable source of the crisis intervention. The aim of the study was to test the Turkish validity and reliability of the COVID-19 Stress Scales. Method: This methodological study was conducted between December 2020 and January 2021 with 841 nursing students and online. The data collection form included socio-demographical characteristics of the participants, COVID-19 Stress Scales, Perceived Stress Scale, Scale of Fear of COVID-19, and Scale of Coronavirus Phobia. Translations and intercultural adaptation process were used for the Turkish version of the COVID-19 Stress Scales. Content, construct and criterion validity analyzes were performed for the validity of the Scale. Internal consistency and intra-class correlation coefficients values were calculated for the reliability of the scale. Results: The mean age of the participants was 23.63±8.5. The Content Validity Index of the COVID-19 Stress Scales was calculated as 0.98. According to suggestions of the experts, the subscale of "xenophobia" was excluded from the scale. In Confirmatory Factor Analysis, fit indices were calculated at acceptable levels and good fits. The five factors were reported in the original study of the scale, was confirmed in the Turkish version. The Cronbach's α value was 0.94 for the scale total. Strong and positive correlations was found between the test and retest scores of the total scale (ICC=0.799; p=0.001). Conclusion: COVID-19 Stress Scales with 30 items and five subscales was a valid and reliable measurement tool for Turkish society.

Giriş: Bu çalışmada pandemi sürecinde, hemşirelerin algılanan COVID-19 riski ile geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamaları bilgisi, kullanımı ve tutumları arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Çalışma, Şubat 2021 - Mart 2021 tarihleri arasında bir eğitim ve araştırma hastanesinde ve kesitsel araştırma tasarımında yürütülmüştür. Örneklemi, araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü ve çalışmaya dahil edilme kriterlerini karşılayan 250 hemşire oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma verileri Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Bütüncül Tamamlayıcı ve Alternatif Tıbba Karşı Tutum Ölçeği ile Algılanan COVID-19 Riski Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler Mann Whitney U testi, Kruskal Wallis testi, ve Spearman’s korelasyon testi ile analiz edilmiştir.Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 31.17±7.65’tir. COVID-19’dan korunmak için geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarını kullanan katılımcıların Bütüncül Alternatif ve Tamamlayıcı Tıbba Karşı Tutum Ölçeği puan ortalamalarının, kullanmayanların puan ortalamalarından anlamlı ölçüde düşük olduğu saptanmıştır (Z=3851; p=0.018). Katılımcıların Bütüncül Alternatif ve Tamamlayıcı Tıbba Karşı Tutum Ölçeği puan ortalamaları ile Algılanan COVID-19 Riski Ölçeği puanı arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olmadığı saptanmıştır (p >0.05).Sonuç: Çalışmada hemşirelerin algılanan COVID-19 riski düzeyinin ortalamanın üzerinde olduğu ve geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarına ilişkin bilgi düzeyinin düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. Algılanan COVID-19 riski ile geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarına ilişkin tutumlarının birbiri ile ilişkili olmadığı ortaya konulmuştur., Background: The study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses’ perceived risk of COVID-19, knowledge, use and attitudes of complementary and alternative medicine practices during the pandemic.Methods: The cross-sectional research was conducted between February 2021 and March 2021 in a training and research hospital in Turkey. The sample consisted of 250 nurses who volunteered to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. The data were collected with the Personal Information Form, the Attitudes Towards Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Questionnaire, and the COVID-19 Perceived Risk Scale. The Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman’s correlation test were used for data analysis.Results: The mean age of the participants was 31.17±7.65. The mean scores of Holistic Complementary Alternative Medicine Questionnaire of the participants who used complementary and alternative medicine practices to protect themselves against COVID-19 were significantly lower than the mean scores of the participants who did not use (Z=3851; p=0.018). No statistically significant correlation was found between the mean scores of Holistic Complementary Alternative Medicine Questionnaire of the participants and the COVID-19 Perceived Risk Scale (p > 0.05).Conclusion: The study revealed that the perceived COVID-19 risk level of the nurses was above the average and the level of knowledge about complementary and alternative medicine practices was low. It also determined that the nurses’ perceived risk of COVID-19 and their attitudes towards complementary and alternative medicine practices were not related to each other.

Background: Obesity has become widespread among adolescents throughout the world. This study aimed to determine the relationship between problematic internet use and obesity among 10-19 yr old adolescents. Methods: The descriptive study was carried out in a private elementary and high school in Gaziantep Province in the Eastern Turkey in 2016-2017. Overall, 474 adolescents and 938 their parents were enrolled. Data collection form consisted of three parts. The first part included questions about sociodemographic characteristics of the adolescent and his/her parents. The second part included data on anthropometrical measurements, dietary habits and physical activity level. Third part of the data collection form included Problematic Internet Usage Scale. First, anthropometrical measurements of the adolescents were recorded. Then, the data collection forms were applied to adolescents and their parents. Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine is a proven method for preventing HPV-related cancers and genital warts, especially preventing cervical cancer. It is aimed to systematically review and synthesize conclusions in detail from community-based studies published in Turkey between 2009 and 2019, which evaluate the knowledge, awareness, attitude, and behaviors of individuals towards HPV and HPV vaccination. This systematic review is conducted based on the PRISMA reporting method and includes community-based, descriptive cross-sectional and cross-sectional studies published between 2009 and 2019. In this systematic review, 5132 studies from six databases were scanned in total. It was determined that there were 23 studies that met the eligibility criteria for this systematic review. In the reviewed studies, it was determined that the rate of “Hearing of HPV before” was 3.8% at the lowest and 57.0% at the highest, and the rate of “Hearing of HPV vaccine before” was 2.2% at the lowest and 74.7% at the highest. In the reviewed studies, it was reported that although parents’ willingness to have their daughters vaccinated with HPV vaccine varied between 14.4% and 68.0%, their willingness to have their sons vaccinated with HPV vaccine varied between 11.0% and 62.0%. In addition, it was reported that the lowest rate of vaccination with HPV vaccine among participants was 0.3% at the lowest and 6.0% at the highest. Consequently, it is considered that conducting common, systematic, and continuous health education programs aimed at both sexes and including both parents, which will increase the knowledge and awareness on HPV and its vaccine, would provide positive attitudes, and will be effective in protecting against HPV-related cancers.

The skeletons investigated herein were dated to the Late Eastern Roman Period, at the time of the golden age under the reign of the Macedonian dynasty ruled between 867 and 1056. In the Kutahya region, which acted as a border and frequently changed between the Eastern Roman and Seljuk states, the oral and dental health of the Attepe and Derekoy populations in this period was differed proportionally. A dam was constructed in Kutahya Province near Kureysler Village for irrigation purposes. The Attepe settlement (AD 986-1050) and Derekoy necropolis (AD 966-1032) are located within the boundaries of the dam lake. To save the cultural assets in these areas, excavation studies were conducted by the Kutahya Museum in the region in 2014. This study investigated 447 permanent teeth from 34 adult individuals in the Attepe population, and 270 permanent teeth from 17 adult individuals in the Derekoy population dated to the Late Eastern Roman period. When the distribution of dental diseases in the Attepe population was examined, it was determined that 13.77% had caries, 0.81% had periapical lesions, 68.18% had periodontal disease, 13.07% had calculus, 17.98% had hypoplasia, and 22.33% had antemortem tooth loss (AMTL). In the Derekoy population, 12.88% had caries, 2.01% had periapical lesions, 80% had periodontal disease, 3.83% had calculus, 23.28% had hypoplasia, and 5.37% had AMTL. In both populations, the degree of tooth wear was determined as grade 3 and 4. The dental data showed that agricultural-dominated nutrition consumption was effective in the Attepe and Derekoy populations. In both populations, there were significant differences between the amount of caries and calculus (p = 0.00 < 0.05) as well as tooth wear and calculus (p = 0.00 < 0.05). When all these findings were assessed in an integrated fashion, it was possible to understand the features of a village population being involved in agriculture and dominant stock farming in a region in western Anatolia during the 10th-11th centuries, which coped, for the most part, with epidemics and infectious diseases, wars, and perhaps periodic famines.

Bu çalışmanın amacı akran koçluğunun öğretmenlik becerilerinin gelişimine etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırma karma yöntemlerden açıklayıcı sıralı desenle yürütülmüştür. Araştırmaya Bartın Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Öğretmenliği Lisans Programından 50 öğrenci katılmıştır. Nicel veriler Mikro Öğretimi Değerlendirme Formuyla, nitel veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilere t testi ve içerik analizi uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda plan yapma, derse giriş, dersi geliştirme ve genel başarı boyutlarında deney grubu lehine; konu alan bilgisi ve iletişim boyutlarında kontrol grubu lehine anlamlı farklar belirlenmiş, dersi kapatma boyutunda anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir. Katılımcılar mesleki gelişim, görüş ve deneyim paylaşımı ve duyuşsal gelişim açısından akran koçluğunun olumlu katkılar yaptığını düşünmektedirler. Danışanlar mikro öğretime kısa sürede hazırlanmaktan, önceden hatalarını görmekten, eğlenerek öğrenmekten ve koçlara her an soru sorabilmekten memnundurlar. Katılımcılar akran koçluğunun yaratıcı düşünmeyi engellemesinden endişelenmektedirler. Akran koçluğunun öğretim programında yer alması, danışanların planlarını yaptıktan sonra koçlarla çalışmaya başlamaları, iki tarafın da her aşamada yaşadıklarını öğretim elemanına rapor etmesi önerilmektedir., This study aims to explore the effect of peer coaching on instructional skills. 50 students attending Bartın University, Turkish Teaching Undergraduate Program participated in this mixed-methods study with explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were collected with the Micro Teaching Evaluation Form and qualitative data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. t-test and content analysis were used in the analysis. It was found that there were significant differences in favor of the experimental group in the dimensions of lesson planning, lesson-opening, development of the lesson and overall success while the data yielded significant differences in favor of the control group in the knowledge and communication dimensions. Yet, there was no significant difference in lesson-closure dimension. Participants stated that peer coaching contributed positively to professional development, sharing of opinions and experiences, and affective development. Coachees were found to be enjoying microteaching, spotting their mistakes in advance, learning by having fun and asking questions to the coaches at any time. Participants were concerned that peer coaching interfered with creative thinking. Integrating peer coaching in the curriculum, encouraging peer coaching after preparation of lesson plans, and collecting reports from the students at each stage are among the educational implications recommended.

Bu araştırmanın amacı dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarını incelemektir. Araştırma tarama yöntemiyle yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Bartın il merkezinde bulunan 47 resmî ilkokulun dördüncü sınıflarında öğrenim gören 1405 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi tesadüfi örneklemeyle belirlenmiştir. Örneklemde üç ilkokul yer almıştır. Bu okullarda dördüncü sınıfta okuyan 415 öğrenciye ölçek uygulanmış, 385 geçerli veri elde edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda öğrencilerin güçlü bir okuma tutumuna sahip olduğu, kız öğrencilerin okuma tutumunun erkek öğrencilere göre daha yüksek olduğu, ebeveyn okuma kültürünün çocukların okuma tutumunda anlamlı farklar yarattığı görülmüştür. Okul öncesi dönemde eve gazete, dergi, okuma yazma materyalleri almanın, çocuklara sesli hikâye okumanın, çocuklarla birlikte kitabevi, kitap fuarı ve kütüphanelere gitmenin çocukların okuma tutumunda anlamlı farklar yarattığı belirlenmiştir. Bundan başka dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumları ile bir yılda ders kitabı dışında okudukları kitap sayısı arasında orta düzeyde ve pozitif yönde ilişki görülmüştür. This study aimsto investigate attitudes towards reading of fourth graders. The research was carried out in the survey model. The scale was applied to 415 studentsand 385 valid data were obtained. In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation tests were used. Analysis of the data showed that students had a strong reading attitude, females had a higher reading attitude than males, and parent reading culture made meaningful differences in children's reading attitudes. In the pre-school period, taking newspapers, magazines, reading and writing materials; reading stories to children; visiting bookstores, book fairs, and libraries with children made significant differences in children’s attitude towards reading. Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate musculoskeletal pain due to mechanical reasons and related risk factors in adolescents and to define posture profiles of adolescents. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: The study was conducted with 2221 adolescents between February 2015 and May 2015. The questionnaire used to collect data consisted of three parts: (1) descriptive characteristics of the participants, (2) pain assessment of 14 parts of the body, and (3) Back Pain and Body Posture Evaluation Instrument (BackPEI). Results: The prevalence of low back pain among the participants was 73.3% (n = 1,343), while the prevalence of back pain was 68.4% (n = 1,254). The participants attributed their pain to their poor sitting postures at school (38.1%, n = 847) and carrying school backpacks (84.1%, n = 1,713). There was a statistically significant difference in the physical activities of adolescents and the BackPEI score (z = 4.40; p = .001). Posture factors of the BackPEI score increased while school desk comfort score increased (Spearman's rho = 0.148; p = .001), but it decreased while the school grades of the adolescents increased (Spearman's rho [ρ] = −0.161; p = .001). Conclusions: According to this study, body posture was related to musculoskeletal pain and was correlated with physical activities, school desk comfort, and school grades of the adolescents. It is suggested that correct posture and ergonomic positions should be taught to adolescents when using computers, carrying school backpacks, and sitting in school chairs to prevent musculoskeletal pain. © 2020 American Society for Pain Management Nursing

Sınıf DersKitabı’ndaki öyküleyici ve bilgilendirici metinlerin okunabilirliğinibelirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. 14öyküleyici 12 bilgilendirici metin incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucundabilgilendirici metinlerin öyküleyici metinlere göre daha uzun sözcük vecümlelerden oluştuğu ve okunabilirlik düzeyinin daha zor olduğu, metinlerinkolaydan zora sıralanmadığı ve metin türleri arasındaki farkın anlamlı olduğugörülmüştür., Despite the technological advances, textbooks are the most used tools.Texts suitable for the target group are important for the student to gain thepleasure and habit of reading, and makes the teachers’ job easier as well. Theaim of this study is to determine the readability of narrative and informativetext located in the 5th-grade Turkish textbook. Screening method was used inthe study. 14 narrative texts and 12 informative texts were studied. As aresult of the research, it was seen that informative texts were composed oflonger words and phrases than narrative texts and the level of readability weremore difficult, the texts were not arranged from easy to difficult, and thedifferences between text types were found to be significant.

DOI : 10.26650/FNJN386150 Aim : The aim of this study was to review interventional studies conducted by nurses about elderly people with urinary incontinence in nursing homes and to match the results to standardized nursing terminology using the Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcomes Classification Linkages to the NANDA-I diagnoses guidelines. Method : A systematic review of quantitative intervention studies was conducted using the PRISMA statement as a guide. The interventional research in English was scanned using the MEDLINE and CINAHL databases from January 2005 to May 2015. Fourteen studies that had at least one nurse researcher were conducted in nursing homes, excluding surgical and pharmacological interventions. The Nursing Outcome Classification and Nursing Intervention Classification Linkages to NANDA-I diagnoses and the Clinical Conditions Part II-U List were used as a guide to select North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International nursing diagnoses, Nursing Outcome Classification Scales, and Nursing Interventions from the data. Results : We found the frequency of use of various NANDA-I diagnoses, Nursing Interventions, and Nursing Outcomes based on the Nursing Outcomes Classification and Nursing Interventions Classification Linkages to NANDA-I diagnoses and the Clinical Conditions List for incontinence. Conclusion : Using the Nursing Outcomes Classification and Nursing Interventions Classification Linkages to NANDA-I diagnoses guide may provide new nursing perspectives on non-standardized research. Okuma anlama başarısı, bilişsel sürecin üstbilişsel stratejilerle izlenmesi ve kontrol edilmesi sonucunda artmaktadır. Üstbilişsel stratejiler okuma eğitiminde okuma stratejileri olarak yerini almaktadır. Öğrencilerin üstbilişsel farkındalıklarının geliştirilmesi sonucunda strateji kullanımı bilinçli bir şekilde yerleşmektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının okuma stratejilerini beceri haline getirmesi, gelecekte öğrencilerini bu açıdan geliştirebilmeleri açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının okuma stratejilerini kullanma düzeylerini betimlemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma tarama modelinde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmaya 2016-2017 eğitim ve öğretim döneminde Bartın Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde, sınıf öğretmenliği, sosyal bilgiler, Türkçe, matematik ve fen bilgisi öğretmenliği bölümlerinde, 2. ve 3. sınıflarda okuyan 297 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri Üstbilişsel Okuma Stratejileri Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının okuma stratejilerini sık kullandıkları, okuma stratejileri kullanma düzeyinde cinsiyete göre anlamlı bir fark olmadığı, okudukları bölüme ve okuma alışkanlığı düzeyine göre anlamlı farklar olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına dayalı olarak; eğitim fakültesi öğrencilerinin okuma stratejileri kullanımlarını en üst düzeye yükseltebilmeleri için öğretim programlarında ve eğitim süreçlerinde okuma stratejilerine yer verilmesi; öğretim elemanlarının öğretmen adaylarını okumaya yönlendirmede duyuşsal, bilişsel ve davranışsal katkılar sağlamaya çalışması; konuyla ilgili boylamsal ve nitel araştırmalar yapılması önerilmektedir.

Turkce ogretmenleri Turkcenin dogru ve etkili kullanimi ve iletisim acisindan model olabilmelidir, cunku Turkce ogretmenleri sesini ve beden dilini etkili kullanabilen ogrenciler yetistirmekle sorumludur. Hazirlikli konusma calismalari Turkce Ogretim Programi’nda onerilen etkinlikler cercevesinde yapilmistir. Boylece hem ogretmen adaylarinin konusma becerilerini gelistirmeleri hem de isbasinda yapacaklari etkinlikleri icsellestirmeleri amaclanmistir. Arastirma verileri Ogretmen Adaylarina Yonelik Konusma Kaygisi Olcegi ile toplanmistir. Arastirma sonunda ogretmen adaylarinin konusma kaygilarinin ontestte orta duzeyde oldugu, sontestte dusuk duzeyde oldugu; hazirlikli konumalar yapmanin ogretmen adaylarinin konusma kaygilarini gidermede anlamli bir fark yarattigi gorulmustur.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, yaratıcı yazma çalışmalarının yazmaya yönelik tutumlara ve yaratıcı yazma başarısına etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmada ön test – son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunda Bartın il merkezinde bulunan Gazi Ortaokulu beşinci sınıflarından 50 öğrenci yer almaktadır. Yazmaya yönelik tutumlar Yazı Yazmaya Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği ile belirlenmiştir. Yaratıcı yazma başarısı öğrenci kompozisyonları ile belirlenmiştir. Öğrenci kompozisyonları Yaratıcı Yazma İçin Değerlendirme Ölçütleri Formu ile puanlanmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grupları arasında fark olup olmadığını belirlemek üzere bağımsız gruplar için t testi, grupların kendi içinde fark olup olmadığını tespit etmek için bağımlı gruplar t testi yapılmıştır. Yaratıcı yazma başarısını değerlendirmek için öğrenci kompozisyonları iki uzman tarafından değerlendirilmiştir. Puanların güvenirliği Pearson korelasyon katsayısı ile belirlemiştir. Deneysel çalışmalar sonrasında yazmaya yönelik tutum açısından deney grubunun ön ve son testleri arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu; kontrol grubunun ön ve son testleri arasında ise anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının son test ortalamaları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yaratıcı yazma başarısı açısından deney grubunun ön ve son testleri arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlenmiştir. Kontrol grubunun ön ve son testleri arasında da yaratıcı yazma başarısı ön test-son test puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark belirlenmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının son test puanları arasında yapılan karşılaştırmada, deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu görülmüştür. The aim of this studywas to determine the effect of creative writing activities on writing attitudes and the success of creative writing. The pre-test and post-test control group experimental design has been used in thestudy. In the study group, 50 students from the fifth grade of Gazi Secondary School in Bartın city center were located. The attitudes towards writing were determined by the Writing Attitude Scale. Creative writing success was determined by student compositions. Student compositions were scored using the Evaluation Criteria for Creative Writing Form. Independent sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a difference between the inter-groups, and paired sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a difference within the inner-group. To determine the creative writing success, student compositions were evaluated by two experts.After experiential studies it was seen that there was a significant difference between the pre and post-tests of the experimental group in terms of the attitude toward writing but there was no significant difference between the pre and post-tests of the control group. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the final test averages of the experimental and control groups in favorof the experimental group.In terms of creative writing success, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the pre and post-tests of both experimental and control groups.It was determined that there was a meaningful difference between the pre and post-tests of the experimental group in terms of creative writing success. There was also a significant difference between the pre and post-tests of the control group. It was found that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in comparison between the final test scores of experimental and control groups.

Bu araştırmanın amacı dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarını incelemektir.Araştırma tarama yöntemiyle yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Bartın il merkezinde bulunan 47 resmîilkokulun dördüncü sınıflarında öğrenim gören 1405 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemitesadüfi örneklemeyle belirlenmiştir. Örneklemde üç ilkokul yer almıştır. Bu okullarda dördüncü sınıftaokuyan 415 öğrenciye ölçek uygulanmış, 385 geçerli veri elde edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda öğrencileringüçlü bir okuma tutumuna sahip olduğu, kız öğrencilerin okuma tutumunun erkek öğrencilere göre dahayüksek olduğu, ebeveyn okuma kültürünün çocukların okuma tutumunda anlamlı farklar yarattığıgörülmüştür. Okul öncesi dönemde eve gazete, dergi, okuma yazma materyalleri almanın, çocuklara seslihikâye okumanın, çocuklarla birlikte kitabevi, kitap fuarı ve kütüphanelere gitmenin çocukların okumatutumunda anlamlı farklar yarattığı belirlenmiştir. Bundan başka dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin okumayayönelik tutumları ile bir yılda ders kitabı dışında okudukları kitap sayısı arasında orta düzeyde ve pozitifyönde ilişki görülmüştür. This study aims to investigate attitudes towards reading of fourth graders. The research wascarried out in the survey model. The scale was applied to 415 students and 385 valid data were obtained.In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation tests were used. Analysis of thedata showed that students had a strong reading attitude, females had a higher reading attitude than males,and parent reading culture made meaningful differences in children's reading attitudes. In the pre-schoolperiod, taking newspapers, magazines, reading and writing materials; reading stories to children; visitingbookstores, book fairs, and libraries with children made significant differences in children’s attitudetowards reading. A moderate and positive relationship between attitudes towards reading and the numberof books read outside of the course book in one year.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of summarization strategies teaching on usage of summarization strategies and narrative text summarization success. The study was carried out in a single-group pre-test-post-test model without a control group. 35 Turkish teacher candidates participated in the study. Data was collected with Strategies for Text Summarization questionnaire, 140 summary texts which were written by teacher candidates and Text Summary Evaluation Rubric to evaluate these summaries. The experimental process of the study lasted five weeks. As a result of the analysis made, an increase in the usage of summarization strategies and a significant difference in favor of post-test in summarization success were observed. Summarization strategies whereby the most positive change is seen are "determining the main idea, starting the first sentence with an introduction sentence that expresses the subject of the main text, summarizing in accordance with subject or event order and time consistency, expressing the main idea of text in the final sentence of summary, and paying attention to the distinction between the author and the summarizer in the style of the summary text". Summarization is an indication of level of reading comprehension. For this reason, teaching of summarization strategies should be included in reading studies at all levels.

Turkish teachers should be a model for correct and effective use of Turkish and communicationbecause they are responsible for educating students who can effectively use their voice and bodylanguage. In general, the speaking anxiety of each teacher, especially Turkish teachers and teachercandidates, should be at an acceptable level. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectof prepared speaking on eliminating prospective Turkish teacher’s speaking anxiety. The one grouppretest-posttest design was used in the study. Forty-one teacher candidates from the TurkishLanguage Teaching Department of Bartin University participated in the research. Preparedspeaking activities were made in the framework of the suggested activities in the TurkishCurriculum. Thus, it was aimed that both teacher candidates would improve their speaking skillsand internalize the activities they would do at work. The research data were collected with theSpeaking Anxiety Scale for Teacher Candidates. As a result of the research, it was seen that theteacher candidates' speaking anxiety were moderate at the pre-test and low at the post-test, andmaking prepared speaking made a meaningful difference on eliminating their speaking anxiety.

Women are often victims of male-to-female intimate partner violence. The sample in this study consisted of 637 participants who were conscripted soldiers at Gulhane Military Medical Academy in Ankara, Turkey. This research examined the perspectives and perceptions of young adult men toward violence against women and identified potential risk factors for violence. In this study, 8.8 % of the participants reported perpetrating violence against women. Multivariate analysis indicated young adult males whose father acted violently against their mother were 3.5 times more likely to commit violence against women than young men without violent fathers. It is suggested public health nurses could effectively prevent violence by providing health education.

Hayat Bilgisi, bireyleri hayata hazırlama görev ve sorumluluğuna sahip olan önemli derslerden biridir. Hayat Bilgisi sadece bir ders olmaktan da öte toplumun sahip olduğu ahlaki ve kültürel alt yapıyı ve bu alt yapıya dahil olan değerleri ve becerileri de bireylere aktarma noktasında önemli bir paya sahiptir. Bu görevler ve sorumluluklar, Hayat Bilgisi dersine farklı ve önemli bir misyon yüklemiştir. Bu misyon çerçevesinde Hayat Bilgisi dersini en iyi yansıtacak öğrenme araçlardan olan Hayat Bilgisi ders kitaplarının da elbette güncel ve işlevsel olması beklenmektedir. Ders kitaplarının güncel hayatı takip eder nitelikte canlı ve dinamik bir alt yapının eseri olması gerektiği söylenebilir. Hayat Bilgisi ders kitaplarında tasarım, dizayn, resimler ile metinler arasındaki uyum da oldukça önemlidir. Çünkü belirlenen belli başlı temalar altında bireylere kazandırılacak olan kazanımlar, değerler ve beceriler uygun etkinlikler, örnekler ile ders kitabında sunulmaktadır. Bu sunum esnasında da kullanılan etkinlikler, örnek olaylar ya da metinlerin, ilgili olarak birlikte kullanıldıkları görseller ile de örtüşmesi beklenmektedir. Ancak bu şekilde etkili bir öğrenme sürecinden bahsedilebilecektir. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye ve Almanya'daki Hayat Bilgisi ders kitaplarındaki resim-metin uyumu incelenmiş olup, ders kitaplarındaki görsel ve metinlerin kullanımları arasındaki benzerlik ve farklılıklar değerlendirilmiştir. Life studies course is one of the important lessons that have the duty and responsibility of preparing individuals for life. Life studies course is not only a lesson but a moral and cultural subdivision that society possesses, and it has a significant share in the transfer of values and skills to individuals. These tasks and responsibilities have put a different and important mission to the life studies course. It is expected that the life studies course textbooks, which are among the learning tools that best reflect the life studies course within the scope of this mission, will of course be updated and functional. Textbooks are expected to be the result of a dynamic and dynamic sub-structure that follows the current life. Style, design, harmony between paintings and texts of life studies course textbooks is also very important. Because the gains, values and skills that will be gained to the individuals under certain determined themes are presented in the course book with appropriate activities and examples. It is expected that the events, occasions or texts used during this presentation will also overlap with the images they are used together with. Only in this way can an effective learning process be mentioned. In this study, the harmony of picture and text in the textbooks of life studies course in Turkey and Germany was examined and the similarities and differences between the uses of picture and texts in textbooks were evaluated.

The relationship between tooth of living species and nutrition is so important for anthropologic researches that, it is among the most considered issues in almost all the researches that have been made about these topics. Tooth, as being one of the most significant materials that give information about diet, environmental relationships and cultural structure, has been a constant research topic. It has been proved with the researches that, the food stuffs, which living species consumed, have a fundamental role on tooth wear. The recently recognized micro marks on occlusal are also evaluated carefully as well as the macro wears, which are defined as the apparent wears on tooth enamel. These micro marks have several characteristics about the ingredients, hardness, size and chewing force of the nutrients. In this regard, the tooth samples of Agora of Smyrna, Kyzikos, MinnetpInarI and Gulludere skeletons that lived in Anatolia—also constituted the sample of this research—have been investigated and the diet of these societies has been examined depending upon the micro marks on the teeth of these societies’ people. Firstly, the diet of these societies has been investigated by examining micro tooth wears. Then, the relationship of these societies has been studied. By examining micro tooth wears of these societies, it has been discussed that whether the factors of age, sex, and facet are effective or not on micro wear marks. As a result of this study, it has been observed that societies that lived in different areas have different diets; and micro marks on teeth are significant indicators of living spaces, subsistence economies and life styles of the societies.

The aim of this study is to view how argumentative text pattern teaching influences constituting argumentative essayelements. The study was performed according to one-group pre-test post-test design. The study was carried out inspring term of 2017-2018 academic year and it lasted for five weeks. 33 prospective teachers who took the course ofText Producing Techniques participated in the study. The data of study were collected through 132 argumentativeessays which prospective teachers wrote and Argumentative Text Elements Rubric to evaluate these. The results ofthe research are as follows: Quite few students included argumentative essay elements before argumentative essaypattern teaching and none of the students wrote justification for counter argument. It was determined that 66,7% ofthe students didn’t write data, 81,8% of them didn’t write counter argument, 87,9% did not write justification forcounter argument, 84,8% did not write rebuttal of counter argument and 48,5% did not write conclusion. At the thirdstudy, number of successful students increased on the basis of all elements. However, the majority of students havereached a partially successful level. At the post test, most of the students achieved successful level on the basis of allelements except refuting counter argument. Significant differences on behalf of the post-test were determinedbetween pre-test and post-test scores at all of the argumentative essay elements.

Calismanin amacini Minnetpinari Ortacag insanlarinda kemige iz birakmis paelopatolojik lezyonlarin ve bu lezyonlarin populasyonda ne kadar yaygin oldugunun belirlenmesi, bireylerin nasil etkilendiginin arastirilmasi ve bu populasyonun eski Anadolu toplumlariyla karsilastirilarak toplumlar arasindaki yerinin belirlenmesi olusturmaktadir.2003–2004 yillari arasinda yapilmis olan kazilardan cikan 86 birey paleopatolojik acidan degerlendirilmistir. Minnetpinari toplumunu olusturan toplam 86 bireyin 8’i bebek (% 9,3), 7’si cocuk (%8,13), 25’i kadin (%29,06), 41’i erkek (%47,6) ve 5’i de cinsiyeti belirlenemeyen (%5,81) birey olarak belirlenmistir.Minnetpinari iskeletleri uzerinde makroskopik ve mikroskopik incelemeler yapilarak, populasyonda mevcut olan paleopatolojik olgularin daglimi ve gorulme sikliklari hesaplanmistir. Cogunlukla erkek bireylerden olusan Minnetpinari toplumunda su paleopatolojik olgular tespit edilmistir: travma (%2,3); dogustan bir anomali olan spina bifida (%30); aneminin yansimalari olan porotic hyperostosis (16,2) ve cribra orbitalia (11,3); omurlardaki dejeneratif eklem hastaliklarinin yansimalari olan osteofit (%12,4) ve schmorl nodulleri (%9,8); nonspesifik enfeksiyonlar, periostitis (%5,8) ve osteomyelitis (%1,16) olmak uzere uc enfeksiyon turu ve osteoartrit (%3,48) gozlenmistir.Sonuc olarak heterojen bir toplum olan Minnetpinari toplumunun siddet olaylari ile fazla karsi karsiya gelmemis, sosyoekonomik kosullari dusuk, hayvancilikla ugrasan bireylerden olustugu soylenebilir.

Bu araştırmanın amacı Edinburgh Üçüncü Yaş Üniversitesinde yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin öğrenme nedenlerini, Türkçelerini geliştirmek için nelere ihtiyaç duyduklarını, hangi dil becerilerini geliştirmek istediklerini, Türkçe hakkında düşüncelerini ve Türkçe öğrenenlerin artması için yapmamız gerekenler konusunda önerilerini belirlemektir. Araştırma durum çalışmasıdır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve gözlemlerle elde edilmiştir. Veriler betimsel analizle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi Edinburgh Üçüncü Yaş Akademisidir. Grubun Türkçe öğrenme amacı Türklerle iletişim kurmaktır. Grup üyeleri, Türkçeyi zor bir dil olarak değerlendirmektedir. Türkçelerini geliştirmek için Türk kültürüyle iç içe olmaya, okuma kitaplarına ve orta düzey Türkçe kurslarına ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. Türkçe öğrenenlerin artması için Türk kültürünü tanıtan etkinliklerin yapılmasını, her seviyedeki okullarda Türkçe dersleri açılmasını önermektedirler. he aim of this study is to determine why foreingers learn Turkish as a foreing language in Edinburgh University of Third Age, what they need to improve their Turkish, which language skills they want to improve, what they think about Turkish and what they suggest us to increase Turkish learners as a foreing language.This research is a case study. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews and observations. The descriptive analysis technique was used to analyze the data. The sample of study is Edinburgh University of Third Age.The group’s learning Turkishobjective is to communicate with Turkish people. Grup members considered Turkish as being a difficult language To develop their Turkish they need to be intertwined with Turkish culture, and they need reading books and intermediate level Turkish courses. To increase Turkish learners they suggest making social activities promoting Turkish culture, and opening Turkish courses in schools at all levels.

Bu araştırma İskoçya'da yaşayan Türklerin dil kullanımları ve dil tercihlerindeki bireysel etmenlerin rolünü belirlemek üzere yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı, dil kullanımının bireysel etmenlerle nasıl bir ilişki içinde olduğunu belirlemektir. Bu çalışma İskoçya örnekleminde yapılan ilk çalışma olması açısından özgündür. Araştırmada Yağmur (1997) tarafından geliştirilen Dil Kullanımı ve Tercihi ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bu ölçekteki "dil kullanımı, farklı durumlarda dil tercihi, farkı konularla ilgili dil tercihi, başkalarıyla konuşulan dil ve Türkçeye verilen önem" alt boyutları araştırmanın bağımlı değişkenlerini oluşturmuştur. Kuşak, cinsiyet, eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi, yapılan iş ve İskoçya'da yaşanan süre bağımsız değişkenler olarak ele alınmıştır. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama yöntemi ile konu ele alınmıştır. Araştırmaya İskoçya'da yaşayan 154 göçmen Türk katılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda İskoçya'da yaşayan Türklerin dil kullanımı ve tercihinde kuşak, eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi, yapılan iş ve yaşanan süre değişkenlerinin önemli bir belirleyici olduğu; cinsiyet değişkeninin ise anlamlı bir fark yaratmadığı belirlenmiştir. İkinci kuşakta, eşinin ana dili İngilizce olanlarda, eğitim düzeyi lise ve üniversite olanlarda, profesyonel meslekler yapanlarla öğrencilerde ve uzun süredir İskoçya'da yaşayanlarda İngilizce eğiliminin daha fazla olduğu görülmüştür. Türkçeye verilen önem boyutunda birinci kuşağın, erkeklerin, kendi işini yapanların ve ücretli çalışanların Türkçeyi daha önemli bulduğu belirlenmiştir. Eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi ve İskoçya'da yaşanan süre değişkenleri Türkçeyi önemli bulmada anlamlı bir fark göstermemektedir This study was conducted to determine the role of individual factors on the language use and preferences of Turks living in Scotland. The purpose of the study is to establish a relationship in which their language use and individual factors relationships. The study is unique in being the first illustration of the samples in Scotland. The study used The Language Use, Choice and Preference Scale developed by Yağmur (1997). The “language use, language preference, language choice across topics, language register spoken with different interlocutors, and private value of Turkish” sub-sections were used as dependent variables for this study. Generation, gender, mother tongue of spouse, level of education, occupation and amount of time spent living in Scotland were used as independent variables. The research was conducted using the relational screening method, a quantitative approach. 154 Turkish immigrants in Scotland participated in the study. Results showed that for variables language usage and preference, the generation, mother tongue of spouse, level of education, occupation and time spent in Scotland were significant determinatives for Turks living in Scotland, whereas the gender variable yielded no significant differences. It was seen that there was a trend of slipping toward English language use in second-generation immigrant Turks, people with a native Englishspeaking spouse, an education at upper secondary or university level, a professional occupation or studentship, as well as people with a substantial history of living in Scotland. In terms of the private value of Turkish, first generation Turks, males, business owners and paid workers were found to value the Turkish language higher. The mother tongue of the spouse, level of education and duration of life in Scotland variables are not yield any significant alterations in valuing the Turkish language

Bu araştırmanın amacı Edinburgh Üçüncü Yaş Üniversitesinde yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin öğrenme nedenlerini, Türkçelerini geliştirmek için nelere ihtiyaç duyduklarını, hangi dil becerilerini geliştirmek istediklerini, Türkçe hakkında düşüncelerini ve Türkçe öğrenenlerin artması için yapmamız gerekenler konusunda önerilerini belirlemektir. Araştırma durum çalışmasıdır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve gözlemlerle elde edilmiştir. Veriler betimsel analizle çözümlenmiştir. Türkçe öğrenenlerin artması için Türk kültürünü tanıtan etkinliklerin yapılmasını, her seviyedeki okullarda Türkçe dersleri açılmasını önermektedirler. The aim of this study is to determine why foreingers learn Turkish as a foreing language in Edinburgh University of Third Age, what they need to improve their Turkish, which language skills they want to improve, what they think about Turkish and what they suggest us to increase Turkish learners as a foreing language. This research is a case study. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews and observations. The descriptive analysis technique was used to analyze the data. The sample of study is Edinburgh University of Third Age. The group's learning Turkish objective is to communicate with Turkish people. Grup members considered Turkish as being a difficult language To develop their Turkish they need to be intertwined with Turkish culture, and they need reading books and intermediate level Turkish courses. To increase Turkish learners they suggest making social activities promoting Turkish culture, and opening Turkish courses in schools at all levels.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of exercise programs on pregnant women with pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain. Background: Low back and pelvic pain during pregnancy is a major health problem due to its frequent occurrence and such pain can limit pregnant women in many of their daily activities. Design: A randomized trial with a control group (n = 48) and an intervention group (n = 48). Trial registration number NCT02189356. Methods: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, between December 2011-May 2012, an Education and Research Hospital in Turkey. Based on the intention-to-treat principle, all pregnant women were analysed according to the group they were assigned to, regardless of whether they received the intervention or not. Participants in the intervention group received health counselling and exercised regarding low back and pelvic pain for four weeks. The pregnant women in the control group received usual care, comprised of routine clinical practice for pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain. Results: According to Mann-Whitney U test analysis results, there was a statistically significant difference between the control and intervention groups' Visual Analogue Scale during relaxation scores and Visual Analogue Scale during activity scores at the end of the study. According to Mann-Whitney U test analysis results, the change in the mean Oswestry Disability Index score for the intervention group and the difference in the mean scores between the two groups was statistically significant. Conclusions: A four-week exercise program including individualized health counselling to relieve low back and pelvic pain improved the functional status in pregnant women.

Life studies course is not only a lesson but a moral andcultural subdivision that society possesses, and it has a significant share inthe transfer of values and skills to individuals. These tasks andresponsibilities have put a different and important mission to the life studiescourse. It is expected that the life studies course textbooks, which are amongthe learning tools that best reflect the life studies course within the scopeof this mission, will of course be updated and functional. Textbooks areexpected to be the result of a dynamic and dynamic sub-structure that follows thecurrent life. Style, design, harmony between paintings and texts of lifestudies course textbooks is also very important. Because the gains, values andskills that will be gained to the individuals under certain determined themesare presented in the course book with appropriate activities and examples. Itis expected that the events, occasions or texts used during this presentationwill also overlap with the images they are used together with. Only in this waycan an effective learning process be mentioned. In this study, the harmony ofpicture and text in the textbooks of life studies course in Turkey and Germanywas examined and the similarities and differences between the uses of pictureand texts in textbooks were evaluated.

The present research was done to determine the basic technology competency of Turkish teachers, their attitude towards computer-assisted education, and their technology operation level in Turkish lessons, and to designate the relationship between them. 85 Turkish teachers studying in public schools in Bartin participated in the research. The research was designed with relational screening model. The results obtained in the research are as follows: The information technology competency of Turkish teachers was determined as high-level in technologies usually used vocationally, and as mid-level in others The Turkish teachers had high-level of attitude towards computer-assisted teaching. However, they tended to use technology in their lessons at mid-level. The dependent variables did not indicate remarkable differences based on gender, teaching experience, and education level. Results showed that there was a high-level relationship between the attitude towards computer-assisted education and using information technology in Turkish lessons. Also, there existed a mid-level relationship between the basic technology competency and attitude towards computer-assisted education.

Adolescents experience the onset and development of several health-related behaviors. The purpose of this study is to determine health risk and promotion behaviors of adolescents between the ages of 11 and 19 who were attending and to test the reliability and validity analysis of the Turkish version of Adolescent Health Promotion Scale (AHPS). The study was a cross-sectional survey and the sample consisted of 1,351 participants. A questionnaire that included demographic information, health risk behaviors, and AHPS was used to collect data. In the current study, the Cronbach’s α coefficient for the AHPS was calculated as .92. Female students had significantly higher mean total scale scores than males ( p < .05). The 11–14 age group had a statistically significant higher scale total mean score than the 15–19 age group ( p = .001). International directives highlight the important function nurses fulfill in health promotion. Nurses may play a key role in school health services.

Bu araştırma İskoçya’da yaşayan Türklerin dil kullanımları ve dil tercihlerindeki bireysel etmenlerin rolünü belirlemek üzere yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı, dil kullanımının bireysel etmenlerle nasıl bir ilişki içinde olduğunu belirlemektir. Bu çalışma İskoçya örnekleminde yapılan ilk çalışma olması açısından özgündür. Araştırmada Yağmur (1997) tarafından geliştirilen Dil Kullanımı ve Tercihi ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bu ölçekteki “dil kullanımı, farklı durumlarda dil tercihi, farkı konularla ilgili dil tercihi, başkalarıyla konuşulan dil ve Türkçeye verilen önem” alt boyutları araştırmanın bağımlı değişkenlerini oluşturmuştur. Kuşak, cinsiyet, eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi, yapılan iş ve İskoçya’da yaşanan süre bağımsız değişkenler olarak ele alınmıştır. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama yöntemi ile konu ele alınmıştır. Araştırmaya İskoçya’da yaşayan 154 göçmen Türk katılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda İskoçya’da yaşayan Türklerin dil kullanımı ve tercihinde kuşak, eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi, yapılan iş ve yaşanan süre değişkenlerinin önemli bir belirleyici olduğu; cinsiyet değişkeninin ise anlamlı bir fark yaratmadığı belirlenmiştir. İkinci kuşakta, eşinin ana dili İngilizce olanlarda, eğitim düzeyi lise ve üniversite olanlarda, profesyonel meslekler yapanlarla öğrencilerde ve uzun süredir İskoçya’da yaşayanlarda İngilizce eğiliminin daha fazla olduğu görülmüştür. Türkçeye verilen önem boyutunda birinci kuşağın, erkeklerin, kendi işini yapanların ve ücretli çalışanların Türkçeyi daha önemli bulduğu belirlenmiştir. Eşin ana dili, eğitim düzeyi ve İskoçya’da yaşanan süre değişkenleri Türkçeyi önemli bulmada anlamlı bir fark göstermemektedir. This study was conducted to determine the role of individual factors on the language use and preferences of Turks living in Scotland. The purpose of the study is to establish a relationship in which their language use and individual factors relationships.The study is unique in being the first illustration of the samples in Scotland. The study used The Language Use, Choice and Preference Scale developed by Yağmur (1997). The “language use,language preference, language choice across topics,language register spoken with different interlocutors, and private value of Turkish” sub-sections were used as dependent variables for this study. Generation, gender, mother tongue of spouse, level of education, occupation and amount of time spent living in Scotland were used as independent variables. The research was conducted using the relational screening method, a quantitative approach. 154 Turkish immigrants in Scotland participated in the study. SUMMARY Today individuals can easily access to wide range of information about their health status, disease or treatments by internet. The aim of the study is determination of perceptions and attitudes of healthcare professionals regarding health information on the internet. This descriptive study was conducted in January-March 2013 with 103 healthcare professionals. Data about participants’ demographic features, internet use, opinions and experiences of health information on the internet were analyzed with SPSS 15.0. “Health information on internet positively influences individuals” statement was agreed by 36.3%, “Health information on internet is generally accurate” statement was disagreed by 41.2% of participants. Leading intents of patients ask questions to participants about health information on internet were stated to be “Looking for an opinion about the information” (53.4%), “Looking for a more equipped physician” (34.0%), “Demanding tests to be done” (34.0%). More than half of the participants stated that they refused to do what patients demanded in the light of health information on internet. It is recommended that healthcare providers should give up-to-date and evidence based health information on their official websites in order to feed patients with accurate, understandable and reliable health information. Bu makale Nevin AKKAYA danışmanlığında yürütülen “Ortaöğretim Öğrencilerinin Okuma Alışkanlık ve Tutumlarıyla Fen, Matematik Derslerindeki Akademik Başarı Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi (İzmir-Buca Örneği)” adlı doktora tezi kapsamında hazırlanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini belirlemektir. Araştırma örneklemi, İzmir Buca ilçesindeki 10 liseden tabakalı tesadüfi örneklemeyle belirlenen 525 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. 272 kız, 253 erkek öğrenci örneklemde yer almıştır. Araştırmada betimsel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen okumaya yönelik tutum ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin çoğunun okumaya yönelik tutumlarının yüksek olduğu, tutum puanlarının cinsiyete ve öğrenim gördükleri ağırlıklı derslere göre anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği, annelerinin ve babalarının eğitim durumlarına ve mesleklerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin okumaya yönelik tutumları ile okumaya ayrılan süre ve okudukları kitap sayısı arasında orta düzeyde ve pozitif bir ilişki; ailenin aylık geliri arasında negatif yönlü ve düşük bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarını artırmak için önerilerde bulunulmuştur. The purpose of this research is to determine if high school students’ attitudes towards reading show difference depending on various variables. The research sample consist of 525 students selected stratified random sampling from studying in 10 high schools in Buca district, in İzmir. 272 girls and 253 boys participated in sample. The study was performed as a descriptive study. The data was collected by using the attıtude towards readıng scale which was developed by the researchers. The results of this research indicate that high school students’ attitude towards reading level mostly “high”, the reading attitude scores of high school students show a significant difference with regard to genders and weighted lessons but mothers and fathers’ education levels and jobs; furthermore, there was a positive but an avarage correlation between students’ attitudes towards reading and reading time and, the number of books they read; but a negative and low correlation with monthly family income. According to these results several suggestions were made to improve high school students' attitudes towards reading.

AIM: In this study it was aimed to determine the knowledge and practice of mothers with children aged 0-6 years about fever. METHOD: The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. This study was applied at GMMF Research and Education Hospital Pediatrics Clinic, in April-May 2012. The study sample contained 150 volunteered mothers with children aged 0-6 years. Questionnaire was developed by researchers following a literature review and consisted of two parts. First part comprised socio-demographic characteristic, knowledge and practices of participants’ about fever. Second part occurred information that consisted of thought and traditional practice mothers when their children have high fever. RESULTS: Mothers tried to understand high fever. 59.4% (n=89) tried to understand by tapping their children, %30.0 (n=45) did a reading with thermometer. First application of mothers is warm application when they faced fever with their children %52.6 (n=79). %19.3 (n=29) used a drug to reduce the fever, %62 (n=93) mothers believe that fever is an illness. %97.4 (n=146) believe that high fever is the cause of convulsion and %57.3 (n=86) used a drug without doctor permission to reduce the fever. Data representing overall population about gynecological health problems of women in fertility period are limited in Turkey. In this study it was aimed to determine the knowledge level and behaviors of nursing students about genital hygiene. The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. Universe of the study comprised of 354 students attending to high school of nursing. Questionnaire was developed by researchers following a literature review. Although 50.5% of the junior students (n=55) described a history of abnormal vaginal discharge, only 19.3% (n=21) stated that the discharge was abnormal. Of all the students 5.4% (n=19) stated that “they never took a bath” during menstrual period. There was not a statistically significant difference between the history of vaginal discharge and post-defecation cleaning behaviors of students (x²=19.469, p=0.001). Type of post-defecation cleaning from back to front was more common in students who had a history of abnormal vaginal discharge. In conclusion habits that seem very simple in basic and are, however, frequently neglected are very important in protecting and developing urogenital health in the female.
