Bu çalışmanın amacı, tavşan modelinde horizontal menisküs yırtıklarının onarımında kollajen skafold kullanımı sonrası menisküsün iyileşme potansiyelini araştırmak ve skafold ile tamirin primer tamirden daha üstün olup olmadığını göstermektir. The aim of this study is to investigate thepotential for improvement of the collagen scaffold in the repair of horizontalmeniscus tears in the rabbit model. Mature 21 New Zealand white male rabbitsweighing 2.5-3 kg were divided into 3 equal groups, with 7 animals in eachgroup. The medial meniscus was anteriorly horizontal torn from the horn to themiddle. In accordance with the study protocol, Group 1 (n=7); only thehorizontal meniscus was tilted in the control group. Group 2 (n=7); horizontalmeniscus rupture primer repair. Methods: In our study the plain shoulder radiographs were used of 195 (101 male, 94 female) patients aged 18-65 years (mean age, 38.8 +/- 11.5 years; males 35.4 +/- 11.6 years, females 42.5 +/- 10.2) with soft tissue trauma, but no degenerative or structural disorder in the shoulder joint (fracture, tumour, osteoarthritis etc.). Measurements were made on the radiograph of Head Height (HH), Frontal Base Diameter of the Head (FBD), 3 points at 3 cm intervals from proximal to distal of the medullar canal at surgical neck Endosteal Diameter (ED1, ED2 and ED3 respectively), Neck-Shaft Angle (NSA) and Head-Neck Angle (HNA). Results: According to the results, in the comparison of Groups I and III except the mean values of HH and ED1 in other parameters, no statistically significant difference was determined. In the comparison of Groups II and IV except the mean values of FBD and ED1 in other parameters no statistically significant difference was determined. Conclusions: In conclusion, the success of shoulder arthroplasty is explained well by the anatomic structure and proximal humerus morphometric parameters examined in this study. WOS: 000435647500015 Aim: In the study, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of magnetic resonance imaging in comparison with arthroscopy in rotator cuff lesions and pathologies of the long head of the biceps tendon, which are one of the most important causes of shoulder pain and dysfunction. Material and Method: 180 patients treated with arthroscopic surgery were identified. Sixty-four patients (17 males, 47 females) who had undergone diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging and met the study criteria were enrolled in the study. The magnetic resonance imaging within the last 6 weeks preoperatively and arthroscopic shoulder joint examination findings during the operation were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Sensitivity was found to be 89.1% and specificity was found to be 94.4% in the full thickness tears, and sensitivity was found to be 93.8% and specificity was found to be 87.5% in the partial tears of the supraspinatus tendon; sensitivity was found to be 33.3% and specificity was found to be 98.4% in the full-thickness tears, and sensitivity was found to be 58.3% and specificity was found to be 80.8% in We partial tears of the long head of the biceps tendon. 24 (37.5%) patients in arthroscopy and 32 (50%) patients in magnetic resonance imaging had more than one tear in the tendon. Furthermore, the combination of the tears of the long head of the biceps tendon was found in the rotator cuff tears' arthroscopy of 15 patients (23.4%) and magnetic resonance imaging of 19 (29.6%) patients. Discussion: In comparison with arthroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging in rotator cuff tendon pathologies, especially in the supraspinatus tendon tears, demonstrated high accuracy, the kappa value (kappa value: 0.78), high sensitivity and specificity in the strong consistency range. However, sensitivity was low in pathologies of the long head of the biceps tendon. Magnetic resonance imaging remains to be a reliable diagnostic method in shoulder tendon pathologies, especially in rotator cuff tendon pathologies.

Introduction: Orf is a viral, zoonotic skin disorder and caused by DNA virus from Parapoxviridae group. Case Report: It transmits to humans bu direct or indirect contact from infected animals, creates solitary-pustular lesions usually in hands, arms and face. In Muslim societies, the diease cause epidemics after Eid-al-Adha. Diagnosis is usually made by skin lesions, histopathological findings and history of contact. Develops as an occupational diease, orf diease can be recognised easily and resolves with syptomatic treatment. Conclusion: In this essay we aim to present 8 cases of orf dieases which came to the emergency department after 2 weeks from Eid-al-Adha with nodular-bullous lesions and history of contact with meat.

In this presentation, we report a rare case of bone destruction caused by the femoral artery aneurysm after a hip hemiarthroplasty operation as a late stage complication. A 77-year-old male patient presented with swelling and pain in the hip without any signs of ischemia. X-ray showed a 7 cm bone destruction in the medial cortex of the proximal femur. After ultrasound imaging, a femoral artery aneurysm was diagnosed. The patient was operated on by vascular surgeons, and a large amount of organized hematoma with artery aneurysm was removed. The diagnosis of femoral aneurysm after hip surgery treatment can be difficult. Femoral aneurysm is rare and usually secondary to trauma, infection, or iatrogenic injury. We assumed that this case occurred during the hemiarthroplasty operation, caused by a compressing effect to the bone causing destruction. The patient was followed for 2 years, during which time the preoperative symptoms reduced dramatically and Harris Hip Score improved. After a hip arthroplasty operation, it must be kept in mind that a femoral arterial aneurysm can cause persistent symptoms. This case illustrates the importance of considering a pseudoaneurysm as a possible cause of periprosthetic osteolysis, particularly if rapid progressive growth has occurred. If this vascular injury had not been correctly diagnosed, the method of treatment could have been much ­different, probably with catastrophic consequences. We present a 15-year-old boy with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), who had a giant MPNST on the right thigh taking into account the available literature. Diagnosis of MPNST may be delayed in NF1 patients due to confusion with a neurofibroma and/or a plexiform neurofibroma. Malignancy should be considered, especially in cases with big masses, with heterogeneous involvement, or in the presence of cysts or necrotic nodules. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of the microfracture technique in the treatment of chondral lesions. Materials and methods: A retrospective study was per­formed in 26 patients who had treated by arthroscopic mi­crofracture technique for chondral lesions in the femoral condils between January 2003 and 2007september in our department. There were 11 females and 15 males with mean age of 37.2 years (range from 23 to 56 years). The average time between beginning of complaints and op­eration were 9.7 months (range from 3 to 35 months). The average of chondral lesions size were 1,6 cm2 (range from 0.7 to 2.4 mm2). The average follow-up period was 24.3 months (ranged from 10 to 44 months). Patients as­sessed according to subjective patient satisfaction and Lisholm scale at preoperative and postoperative time. Results: The mean Lysholm score increased from a pre­operative 56.9 (range from 43 to 72) to a postoperative 77.9 (range from 62 to 100) (p, Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı diz ekleminde kıkırdak lez­yonlarının tedavisinde mikrokırık yöntemi ile tedavi edilen olguların sonuçlarını ve sonuçlara etki eden faktörleri de­ğerlendirmektir. Gereç ve yöntem: Femoral kondilde kıkırdak hasarı ne­deniyle mikrokırık yöntemi ile tedavi edilen 26 hasta ret­rospektif olarak incelendi. Hastaların 15 tanesi erkek, 11 tanesi bayan ve yaş ortalaması 37.2 yıl (dağılım 23-56 yıl) idi. Şikayetlerin başlangıcı ile ameliyat arasında ge­çen süre ortalama 9.7 ay (dağılım 3-35 ay) ve ortalama defekt alanı 1,6 cm2 (dağılım 0.7-2.4cm2) idi. Ortalama takip süresi 24.3 ay (dağılım 10-44 ay) idi. Hastalar ame­liyat öncesi ve sonrası subjektif hasta memnuniyeti ve Lysholm skalasına göre değerlendirildi. İstatistiksel analiz için Paired sample t-test ve Pearson-Spearman korelas­yon testi kullanıldı. Bulgular: Ameliyat öncesi Lysholm skoru ortalama 56.9 (43-72) iken ameliyat sonrası Lysholm skoru ortalama 77.9 (62-100) olarak bulundu. Lysholm skoruna göre, 9 (34.6%) olguda mükemmel, 7 (27%) olguda iyi, 10 (38.4%) olguda orta sonuç elde edildi. Hastaların tümü diz fonksiyonlarından memnundular. Ameliyat sonrası 6. ayda çekilen MRG sonuçları subjektif hasta memnuniyeti ve Lysholm skorları ile doğru orantılı idi. Sonuç: İyi ve mükemmel sonuçlanan hastaların aktif, genç ve semptom sürelerinin daha kısa ve lezyon alanı­nın daha küçük olduğu gözlemlendi. Kıkırdak lezyonları­nın tedavisinde erken yapılan mikrokırık tedavi yöntemi­nin, günlük aktivitelere geri dönüşü hızlandıran, maliyeti düşük, etkili ve başarılı bir tedavi seçeneği olduğu sonu­cuna varıldı.

The current literature did not encounter any publication related to the implementation of Metaizeau method to adult patients. We applied Metaizeau technique to an adult radial neck fracture and we have achieved satisfactory results. As this case report is single case of this method applied to an adult, we decided to present this case.

Radius ve ulna dirsekde humerusla, el bileğinde karpal kemiklerle ve hem dirsekde hemde elbileğinde kendi arasında karmaşık bir eklemleşme oluşturan ön kolda yer alan ikiuzun kemiktir. Özellikle pronasyon ve supinasyonda her iki kemiğin orta diafizinin açısal dizilimi elin fonksiyonları açısından önem arz etmektedir. Erişkinlerde sık görülen ön kol kırıklarındaki yanlıĢ kaynamalar elin fonksiyonlarında kayıpla sonuçlandığı için bu bölge kırıklarının takip ve tedavisinde çok dikkatli olunmalıdır. Bu makalede erişkin radius ve ulna kırıklarının tanı ve tedavisindeki güncel yaklaşımlardan bahsedilecektir.

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to determine the incidence of the DDH inthe infants 0-9 months old. Materials and Methods: 620 hips of 301 infants with the age of 0-9 months were examined with ultrasonography by using the Graf method for DDH screening. Of 310 infants, 620 hips were evaluated according to the Graf's method. There were 137 boys and 173 girls of our patients. The relationships between physical signs or risk factors for DDH and hips which are dysplastic or dislocation, were assessed. The patients clinically or sonographically diagnosed as DDH in newborn period were reevaluated six weeks later. Results: As a results; according to the Graf method, of 620 hips, %6.93 were tip-Ia, %78.39 were tip-Ib, %9.52 were tip-IIa, %0.32 were tip-IIb, %1.45 were tip-IIc, %0.81 were tip-D, %2.1 were tip-III and %0.48 were tip-IV. In our study, the frequency of dysplasia was found %14.7 and the frequency of dislocation was found %3.4. Of %92.7, the new-borns had the Graf's type-II hip in newborn period was not brought to the control examination by their parents. Conclusion: Although parents were informed about DDH, most of them did not come for control USG examination was showed us that some belief still did not changed in our region and national health policy is inadequate. Ultrasonography is important for the early diagnosis and follow-up of DDH. To define the real frequency of the hip dysplasia, the control USG should be performed six weeks after the completion of hip development., Amaç: Bu çalışmada 0-9 aylık bebeklerde gelişimsel kalça displazisi (GKD) sıklığını belirlemek amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Kliniğimize başvuran 0-9 aylık 310 bebeğin 620 kalçası, Graf yöntemi kullanılarak ultrasonografik olarak incelendi. Olgularımızın 137'si (%44.2) erkek, 173'ü (%55.8) kızdı. Fizik muayene bulguları ve risk faktörleri ile displazik ve desentre kalçalar arasında ilişkiler değerlendirildi. Yenidoğan döneminde klinik veya sonografik olarak GKD tanısı konulan hastalar 6 hafta sonra tekrar değerlendirildi. Bulgular: İnceleme sonucunda, Graf metoduna göre sınıflandırıldığında; 620 kalçanın incelemesinde %6.93 tip Ia, % 78.39 tip Ib, %9.52 tip IIa, % 0.32 tip IIb, %1.45 tip IIc, %0.81 tip D, %2.1 tip III ve %0.48 tip IV kalça saptandı. Çalışmamızda displazi sıklığı %14.7, desentre kalça sıklığı ise %3.4 olarak bulundu. Yenidoğan döneminde Graf tip II kalça tespit edilenlerin %92.7'i ebeveynleri tarafından kontrol muayenesine getirilmedi. Sonuç: Gelişimsel kalça displazisi bölgemizde hala önemli bir sağlık sorunu olmasına rağmen GKD'li hastaların ebeveynleri hastaların takip ve tedavisi için yeterli ilgiyi göstermemektedirler. Gelişimsel kalça displazisinin erken tanı ve takibinde ultrasonografi önemlidir. Gerçek displazi sıklığını belirlemek için fizyolojik gelişimin tamamlandığı ilk altı haftadan sonra kontrol ultrasonografisinin yapılması gerekir.

Anevrizmal kemik kistinin tedavisinde tam çıkarma en iyi yöntemdir. Bu çalışmada, tam rezeksiyon ile başarılı tedavi edilmiş fibula anevrizmal kemik kisti olan bir çocuk olguyu sunmaktayız.

Objective: Results of surgical treatment for unstable distal end radius fractures with articular involvement in adults as comparing with unlocked and locked anatomic plate by volar approach were evaluated. Materials and Methods: According to AO classification type C with 35 patient treated open reduction and two different volar plate fixation for distal end of the radius fractures retrospectively reviewed between January 2005 and May 2009. All type C fractures were evaluated 16 (% 46) C1, 9 (% 29) C 2, 10 (% 28) C3. The median follow-up period was 20 month (6-50). Volar locked plate treatment was used for 13 patient in Group 1 and volar unlocked anatomic plated was used 22 patient in Group 2. There were no statiscally differences in age, gender, fracture type among groups. Results: According to Gardland and Werley cilinically evaluation criters; excellent-good was % 86, fair was % 14 in group 1; excellent-good % 77, fair was % 23 in Group 2 respectively. Wrist range of motion and forearm rotation was similar statistically for 2 groups as were clinical scoring and grip strenght.According to radiological evaluation system of Steward et al. excellent-good were % 100; in Group 1 and % 91 in Group 2 respecti-vely. Althought there was no statistically differences among groups, but in locked plate group radiological improvement was better. Conclusion: Treatment of complex distal end fractures of radius involment articular with volar unlocked or locked plate provide good functional results and late period follow up there were no difference in terms of functional and radiologic results among two method. Locked anatomic plates provide good radiologic correction because of including multiple screws with low profile and allow to early joint movement because of rigidity., Amaç: Eklemi ilgilendiren instabil radius distal uç kırıklarının cerrahi tedavisinde volar girişimle uyguladığımız kilitsiz ve kilitli anatomik plakla tespit yöntemlerinin sonuçları değerlendirmek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmamızda Ocak 2005 ile Mayıs 2009 arasında AO sınıflandırmasına göre C grubunda yer alan radius distal uç kırığı nedeniyle açık redüksiyon ve iki değişik volar plak tespitiyle tedavi edilen erişkin 35 distal radius kırıklı hasta retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Hepsi Tip C olan kırıkların alt grupları 16 (% 46)'sı C1, 9 (% 26)'u C2, 10 (% 28)'u C3 şeklindeydi. Ortalama takip süresi 20 ay (6-50 ay) idi. Grup 1'deki 13 hastaya volar kilitsiz plak, Grup 2'deki 22 hastaya volar anatomik kilitli plak uygulandı. Gruplar arasında yaş, cins ve kırık tipi yönünden istatistik olarak anlamlı bir fark yoktu. Bulgular: Gartland ve Werley klinik değerlendirme kriterlerine göre Grup 1'de % 86 mükemmel-iyi, % 14 orta sonuç; Grup 2'de % 77 mükemmel-iyi, % 23 orta sonuç alındı. Ancak, kilitli anatomik plaklar distalde çok sayıda ve düşük profilli vida içerdiği için daha iyi radyolojik düzelme sağlamakta ve sıkılıkları nedeniyle erken harekete izin vermektedir.

Bu yazıda, acil servise ceviz ağacından düşme, sırt ağrısı ve parapleji ile başvuran, incelemeler sonrasında; nadir olarak görülen çökme ve kanal içi basısı yapmayan T12 vertebra Burst kırığı ile birlikte spinal epidural hematom tanısı alan 59 yaşındaki erkek hasta sunuldu.
